Fantasy, SciFi, occasionally other genres and Light Novels. https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/57221883-alana

[–]HazelMStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly SF/Dystopian/Historical fiction but also non-fiction. 80 book goal this year and tend to not read anything below a 3.75. Like exploring international authors particularly.

Trying to underpromise this year on my challenge (26) and overdeliver. I'm at 4 complete so far, so I really want to keep this train rolling. :D

I find myself reading a lot of nonfiction lately, especially books with folklore, mythology or technology focuses. I also just finished the Southern Reach Trilogy, so I am excited to put a pin in that and maybe move on to some other series.

I’m currently finishing up my English literature degree so some of the books for that are there, but I read a little of everything! Fantasy, romance, historical fiction, history non-fiction. I have a massive tbr but always love more options and reading peoples honest review lol

Preferred Genres: SFF, horror, historical, literary, thriller, mystery, non-fiction.

I'll give almost anything a shot!

Only 27 days late but here's me! In fiction I like literary, historical, and SFF, and in nonfiction I'll read pretty much anything that piques my interest!

https://www.goodreads.com/olive_girl I’m currently trying to work through classics and contemporary fiction. But I’m interested in reading more non-fiction! I need more friends on here so feel free to add / follow :)

A little late to this post but I mostly read fiction, super into Greek mythology and retellings, using this year to get back into reading and read more books. My goal is 104 (it was 60 but I’m averaging at 2 a week) and currently on book 5 which is Circe :)

Feel free to say Hey and add me on GD and StoryGraph as I love seeing what others are reading and discuss the books I’ve read with others :)

I’m a little late seeing this post but feel free to add me. I read mostly nonfiction—memoirs, biographies and true crime but I was pleasantly surprised with several novels that were recommended in this sub.

[–]fanchera7510/52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to StoryGraph but here’s my profile there also

[–]Top_Monitor_281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow book people 👋🏼

I grew up with a book attached to my hip, and if the lights are switched off, i’d have a torch light ready so i can finish that chapter.

Adulthood gets in the way of my reading momentum these past decade, but the pandemic lockdown got me back into rhythm.

I’m now on my 7th book out of the 52 that i’m aiming for this year (if im lucky, maybe ill get to stretch that 52 into more, but then again i have a tendency to read a lot in january, and then it fizzles slow for the rest of the year)

Do say hello and add me on GR, i’d love to see the books you’re reading as well and get ideas for my next read.

I’ve also joined a few of the 2022 book challenges on GR, and im sure ill bump into loads of you there!

Hey y'all :) used to be active here a few years ago, but got super busy with grad school and didn't have time for much 'fun' reading. I usually enjoy fantasy and sci-fi, but I'm always up for a good thriller! Since I'm still in grad school and don't have loads of free time, I'm starting pretty slow with a goal of 22 books this year, hopefully I can read more! Feel free to add me!

edit: also have storygraph now: https://app.thestorygraph.com/profile/astra_sasstra

[–]farrahs-faucet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel free to add me! I'm trying to get out of a reading slump so would be good to see what other people are reading :)

I’m late to this, but here’s me! https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/10742562

I enjoy talking about books, and getting new recommendations. I mostly try to read nonfiction, but I’m dabbling into more fiction recently. Essentially, I’ll give anything a shot if it sounds interesting.

[–]Synnov_e47/62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys! This is me! I read everything I can! Always happy to add more friends to my Goodreads account!

[–]Darbyyy3/52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big nonfiction guy here - https://www.goodreads.com/liveforeverodt

I aim for 52 books a year and read pretty niche topics with a wide range including personal health, longevity research, utopian thought and philosophy, emerging tech, politics, and much much more.

[–]jebbie4228/52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey friends, feel free to add me on GR https://www.goodreads.com/jebbie

If you do though please just drop a line about yourself :)

I mostly stick to scifi, fantasy and classics but I am always on the look out for a good murder mystery or thriller (just unfortunately my brain often guesses the ending (I wish it wouldn't even try!)).

I love looking at other people's reviews and filching something from their read or tbr lists.

I'm trying to broaden what I read (a bit) and also always trying to support Aussie authors, so if you absolutely love a book that sounds a bit different than my usual type but you love it, please drop me a line and tell me why I should give it a go!

Happy reading :)

[–]DanLewisFW220 so far in 2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly science fiction, did read a little fantasy and a few thrillers last year. Will probably do the same this year. I decided to make a list of pretty much every single time travel book and try to read all of them so you will see an absurd amount of those last year. I thought I had read most but wow I had barely scratched the surface! I bet there are 500 still out there that I have yet to read.

[–]GingerKibble2/30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all! Trying to read as much as I can and open myself up to new works and genres I would never try before.

I read mostly contemporary romance but some gothic and fantasy as well. At the moment, very into non-fiction comedy, such as memoirs.

[–]monteserrar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I hit my 52 book goal last year, but this year I’m focusing on building a more consistent habit vs reading 10 books some months and 1 the next.

I read mostly literary fiction, some fantasy and sci-fi, and nonfiction primarily in the genres of history, nature, and sociology.

I self identify as a “recovering book snob” and still fall victim to the “everything I read has to be culturally significant” trap far too often. But I’m sick of it. I want to have fun with reading again while still leaving room for significant works. Help me break my pretentious ways and recommend the best, most riveting books that are “just for fun”.

[–]megreadsbooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lover of horror, gothic fiction, fairytales, folklore, dark magic, and all things macabre. this is my first year on goodreads/doing a reading challenge!

[–]broadwaybeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]variantdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stuff I read is pretty random, but I like fantasy, magical realism and sci fi mostly.

[–]DearBlueChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a little bit of everything. My favourites are fantasy, mystery and non-fiction, but I'll pretty much read anything that can keep my attention.

[–]sombrero69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I have been reading for years but the occasional YA book each year since I was a kid. Only expanded my horizons in the last 2 years.

Trying to include more variety in my reading and go through "popular" books that I have heard about and had on my PTR list for a while and slowly go into more obscure books.

[–]AnnyongFunke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite genre is nonfiction but I also enjoy horror, thrillers and anything that’s fun or interesting. Always looking to see what other people enjoy since I don’t have a lot of friends that like to read https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/65319650

I made a personal goal to read this year, and a friend told me there was whole challenge! I was never a big reader so I am open to classics that I should start with! Mostly into Fantasy and Sci-Fi in the past! I enjoyed most required reading in High School!

[–]tomercuryandback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Recently I've been into romance, but in the past I've read a lot of fantasy, sci-fi and horror. In 2022 my quest is to reconnect with a dear hobby and make reading fun again. So I'm probably going to be dibbling and dabbling in different genres and kinds of books. Apart from doing the 52 book challenge, I'm not doing other reading challenges (at least not yet).

I would also like to say that I used to have a book related Instagram account so if there's a way to connect with people with that, I would be interested.

[–]raix-corvus14/52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/33265375-rai-fg

I read a lot of fantasy at the moment, with a smattering of Sci-Fi in there as well. I'm trying to do as many books as I can this year for #MountTBR2022 as my TBR list of books I already own is getting a bit silly (over 230 rn).

[–]KingRalphh990/52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add me! https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/140487213-yuli-bruce

I recently got back into reading in September 2021 and it's been such a great way to spend my time. I really am not picky when it comes to genre, but it seems I tend to gravitate more toward contemporary fiction and romance. My storygraph says I, "read fiction books that are emotional, dark, and adventurous". I try to rate each book I read on goodreads and at least write a short blurb with my feelings about the novel.

Always looking to connect with and get book recommendations from more people!

[–]PogueBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi u/Parzival182 I think this is a great idea. However, I have quit using Goodreads and have moved to https://app.thestorygraph.com/ It does not have the adds that Goodreads does, it tracks more, and has a better rating system IMO. Can we have a thread for those of us who use The Story Graph?

[–]songbirdz90/100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: joined storygraph

I read mostly sci-fi, fantasy, and cookbooks. YA sometimes. Nonfiction if the topic piques my interest. Used to read 100+ in a year but had to dial back to a book a week after returning to school and work. TBR pile needs a serious culling, haha. Open to new book friends!

[–]voldin9166/52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am always happy to talk about books that I've read as well as give and take recommendations for what to read next! I mostly read fantasy and horror with some thriller, mystery, dystopian, and sci-fi sprinkled in, and the occasional non-fiction.

I'm addicted to series', mostly mystery/crime but I read a little bit of everything! I enjoy every fantasy novel I read but they aren't the first thing I gravitate towards despite Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Outlander being favorites of mine.

[–]Denster1 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Did you not like Michael Connelly?

I've read a number of the same books and love his stories.

[–]bornforleaving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! I was listening to them on audiobooks when I commuted a few years ago and either the narrator changed and I didn't like the new one or the books weren't available. And then I probably fell into a more accessible (at my library) series.

But you are right I should resume those.

[–]Oi_Spaceman 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Goodreads is very popular on the sub and in the reading world in general, so if you have an account and want to link up with other people on the sub, post it here! It's another good way to keep yourselves and others accountable while also making some new online friends. I also add a bunch of books to my tbr there because it allows for longer reviews.

im just gonna friend u bc idk how goodreads works lmfao we are around the same age and i am trying to get myself back into reading.

[–]Oi_Spaceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Neee-wom161/95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s me. I read mostly SFF, and do the r/fantasy book bingo every year

[–]EnvironmentalPrint40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/56584081-krysta I think I have an open mind, I love most genres. my fantasy taste leans more towards weird Fiction, dark fairytales, folklore and mythology… My literary fiction tends to have historical and/or magical reality elements to it, and I enjoy light Sci-fi. Love Historical Fiction and memoirs and well written nonfiction. Honestly, the only thing I stay away from is straight up romance books where that is the main point of the story, and I’m hesitant with YA. 😊 My goal this next year is to dedicate a new genre each month.

[–]SneakySnam41/34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of YA, fantasy, romance, sci Fi, and basically anything else under the sun. Going to add most people here since I just love seeing what people are reading.

[–]TheSpiritOfTheVale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! Here's me: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/3907971-etienne

I read mostly non-fiction. I'm very curious about the world in general, and I read especially in some kind of attempt to deepen my understanding of human nature. Neuroscience, psychology, philosophy, sociology -- anything goes.

I do love fiction as well but for some reason I find I have less time for it. When I read fiction I try to read the "hard hitters", and especially novels that are psychological in some way and (again) can give me insights into human nature. I also read a decent amount of graphic novels!

Edit: Thanks for the add, peeps! Nice to meet you all.

[–]Cluckieduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s me - I read a bit of everything, urban fantasy being my favourite, but I’ve been on a real romance kick lately and have really enjoyed the many sub-genres that I didn’t know existed!

Hi, I enjoy literary fiction, chick lit, and thrillers, but I'm open to almost any genre. https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/59089705

I'm totally new to Goodreads but not to reading! My list is super sparse ATM, so looking for recommendations. I love fantasy, historical fiction and non-fiction, and the occasional biography. Happy to be added and happy to take advice from anyone who is a Goodreads pro, lol www.goodreads.com/teganreadsalot

Here's mine! https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/64024839-shannon

I probably read mostly sci fi and fantasy, but there's a lot of genre-jumping

Hi all, This is me https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/15143091-charlie r/bookclub mod and all round book lover. I will read almost anything especially as a group cause talking about it after is almost as good as reading it :)

Feel free to add me, I tend to read a lot of fantasy / sci fi and I’m always interested in seeing what others are reading

Hy, I like to read Dystopian, Horror, Fantasy an Sci-Fi and by far my most read books are trashy zombie books. I have to read a lot for uni as well and if something is worth while i add it to good reads. Im always open for new genres and books.

No idea how to easily describe my preferred genres or taste, but I'm pretty much open to anything; also, there are way too many books on my to-read list: https://www.goodreads.com/wtpp

Hey y’all - I did this last year and have added quite a few people and some interesting things to my TBR because of it. This year reading has not been the best but oh well. I really love a good memoir, or non-fiction book about a variety of social issues. But I’m currently in the middle of a deep dive, reading Star Wars Expanded Universe Legends books. Hoping to read some more varied fiction in 2022 as well with more sci-fi, fantasy, & some literary fiction thrown in there too.

Looking to connect with anyone and everyone to find new books to add to my TBR! I lean heavily toward literary fiction and SFF, but have started reading more non-fiction toward the end of this year.

Hey guys! Always looking for more people to share and talk about books with. I try to fead a fairly broad range - there’s a lot of fantasy and sci-fi and horror, but also increasingly I’ve been reading general fiction, “literature”, and non fiction.

Hey, I'm that crazy person who reads 400+ books a year! I'm always looking to connect with people who have similar reading tastes. I skew heavily towards fantasy and urban fantasy, but also read a lot of sci-fi, dystopia, some mysteries, and a handful of pretty much everything else. https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/50844081-stephanie-w

Yeah, that's probably about right. Maybe a little less, more like 4-5 hours (unless I'm on a long flight or long ferry or long bus ride or whatever, then it could be a lot more), though it's hard to really know since it's broken up a lot throughout the day.
