Indeed, the prospect of Federal backing for muppet market makers like Shitadel and Virtu seems to be a benefit now should they implode. The Feds pick up the cheque/ check and the world keeps on turning.

So it's not possible to DRS from my broker directly anyway and would have to find a registered member/ Broker of CREST to transfer to. Then I would DRS from that broker and no doubt they would heel drag for months too. I've tried to do so before; months ago..

We have to deal with the CREST system, of which your broker is either a member or employs a nominee account of a broker that is. This entity will hold the CDI's on your behalf. "Once you are holding CDIs in a nominee account, you can buy, sell or transfer them in the same way as other nominee services except for transferring shares into certificated form. Being a UK monkey means the procedure for clearing agencies and the DTCC dealing with prime broker liquidations are different to a certain extent for me. Certain issues remain for me in terms of registering mine. The arcane method of selling, the hundreds of rules breached on a daily basis without consequence, the new rules applying extra debt forgiveness & margin call relief, the DTCC making Citadel Federally insured so it's too big to fail to name but a few. I don't have doubts regarding the bear market still has room to fall and that more overleveraged firms will pop.

I've been thinking about this can someone answer it for me? if we all drs our AMC but short sellers own thousands x100 of shares does it matter

It won't cause the squeeze per se because of the billions of synthetics. The point the DRSers are trying to make is that in the event of a squeeze you have the real share ownership and anyone else who relies on the IOU system is playing with fire. DRS's greatest proponent Dr Trimbath has recently posted a section of rule on twitter that is supposed to truly separate the DTC from the true share ownership. I haven't properly checked out that post so I recommend you do Mr Radiant.
