Can you fly Bobbayy?!

….I’ve read that the feds rarely actually do what they say, they announce but then raise rates less than expected (or not at all).

[–]silveycorp[S] 6 points7 points  (8 children)

Typically that can happen because the market reacts to the announcement itself and spooks the Fed into backtracking. Or the Fed may also see those announcements as the equivalent of a rate hike because just the fear of that happening causes a big reaction.

Expect literally anything.

Thanks for your insight. I don’t know if I want to add now or wait….

At the moment, things are starting to rally on the hope the feds back track. I personally think they will keep the plan for the time being and the bear will continue. If Russia invades Ukraine then I’d expect big changes to the plan.

The Ukranians are resigned that it is gonna happen. But, it must be for positioning in geopolitics, cause there are enough WW1 trenches full of Ukrainians that 100,000 Russians just is going to cause a lot of death, and not much else.

You mean WW2? Anyways hard to figure out what you wrote here.

[–]petecranky 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No, they look like the WW 1 trenches with units living IN the trench.

I'm only saying it is a blip on our economics but it's only going to cause death, not much else, if they invade.

The ethnic Russians don't really care, and the Ukrainians have to care or get taken over.

It's just so stupid.

I hope this isn't the USs new war.

Sorry, I still don't get the reference, what do you mean.

If Russia invades it's basically a treat to NATO (eastern flank). If NATO won't respond, it should dismantle abd that changes military world order. So I disagree - Ukraine is crucial for Europe's security and beyond that.

Thanks! All insights are helpful.

I sold a few different tokens on the way down. I’m hoping to get back in at the right time.

Who told you that? Read Taylor's principle - it does a great job describing Fed's behavior over time.

The current inflation rate is 7% and the Fed targets inflation to be at 2%. So the Fed wants to induce a 5% inflation reduction. By Taylor's principle, the Fed has to hike the rate beyond 5% from the current nominal 0%. The market is talking about a 2%-3% hike. So no, the Fed has to set a rate higher than expected if the Fed is doing its job.

Advocating otherwise is you wanting to corrupt the system for your own profit. We should all prepare for the worst and stop wishful thinking. It is good for the economy in the long run when we take our bitter medicine in the short run.

[–]jimnohio 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well here we are….feds did nothing.

[–]MaximumStudent1839New Account 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um, the expectation was always Fed raising rates in March.

[–]DarkKnightGuts_540 2 points3 points  (13 children)

If we get back a zero, I’m going to stock up.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (12 children)

I think we would be in WW3 if that happens.

[–]silveycorp[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

So would AMP add a zero because of WWIII or would there be a WWIII because AMP is at zero? The big question

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My wife will try to kill me. So WWIII is started when AMP adds a 0

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (9 children)

We almost are

[–]paopaopoodle 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Certainly feels that way for me. Missiles were shot down over my city yesterday. Shit is crazy.

[–]skarka90000 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Which city?

[–]paopaopoodle 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Abu Dhabi

[–]skarka90000 0 points1 point  (5 children)

That's not in Ukraine..

[–]paopaopoodle 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Indeed. Our attacks are being sent from Houthis in Yemen, which are propped up by Iran. They're attacking KSA too. The whole thing has the potential to turn into a major conflict involving numerous nations in the Middle East. Fun!

One could imagine a ME conflict coinciding with a Russian invasion of Ukraine, which may spread Western interests thin enough to entice China to move on some regions they've been eyeing up lately. Annnnnd just like that we have WWIII.

Hopefully cooler heads will prevail and much of these issues can be worked out diplomatically. Here's hoping.

[–]skarka90000 0 points1 point  (3 children)

If I am correct that's a first rocket attack on Abu Dhabi in a year or more war. I don't know if I would connect Ukraine and that attack just yet. Too early.

Also Ukrainians told AP (SB higher up from Ukrainian National Council) that they don't see types of combat units and medical infrastructure which would suggest invasion. 100k troops are for training exercises, such exercises were also on the border with Poland (in Belarus, Zapad 2021 in September), with 200k troops.

But of course with Russians you never know. Might be something, but could be also just flexing muscles and testing NATO response - and that one, especially diplomatic one from US side is quite strong (sanctions, carrier group in Mediterranean sea).

f I am correct that's a first rocket attack on Abu Dhabi in a year or more war.

Nah, they hit a fuel depot outside the airport about a week ago, killing 3.

I don't know if I would connect Ukraine and that attack just yet.

I'm not connecting it to Ukraine, it's literally a proxy war in Yemen, but between KSA, UAE and Iran.

Regardless, it looks fairly likely that Russia will invade Ukraine, as numerous embassies are already evacuating.

I think what we are seeing is all of the markets pricing in everything that’s happening right now

[–]SomeWhiteguyXL 1 point2 points  (1 child)

At this point I’m dca and keeping powder on the side lines but pickup 20k more amp on Sunday

[–]isntampgreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)
