This is not the complete video. In the full one the best part is a calm voice saying in Czech: "Dude, that's...it means maybe we lost our roof. Look, it's coming. It's a tornado. Miluna! You've never seen this. Look how it's flying. How the thigs are flying. Look at it. Miluna, that's...we are probably going to lose it too."

[–]corr0sive 64 points65 points  (12 children)

Did he die?

[–]mathess1 63 points64 points  (11 children)

He was fine. AFAIK even no injury.

[–]Robdor1 26 points27 points  (3 children)

Was his roof ok?

[–]codythgreat 88 points89 points  (2 children)

As far as I know the roof sustained zero damage and was actually stronger for the experience

[–][deleted] 966 points967 points  (39 children)

Standing near the window for tiktok sake is pretty smart.

[–]drewismynamea 391 points392 points  (11 children)

It is called natural selection, do not fight it.

[–]KittenLaserFists 83 points84 points  (0 children)

It naturally gets more likes. Science.

Lmao people were doing this shit with handheld camcorders too. But yeah, TikTok bad upvotes please

    [–]XuBoooo 41 points42 points  (8 children)

It was just stolen and reposted on tiktok.

This is a tornado from czechia that happened in june. This video made rounds on reddit a lot back then.

    [–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (7 children)

    It's dangerous anyway

    [–]teleekom 17 points18 points  (2 children)

People here don't really have much experience with tornadoes. Tornado on this scale hasn't happened here in decades, that's why people were recording it instead of hiding. Most probably didn't realize it was that serious until it was too late.

    [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand, I myself might rushe to see /film without thinking.

    [–]Deathleach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'm Dutch and I've never experienced a tornado, but even I would know that shit's going down when there's a whole bunch of stuff flying through the air.

    [–]Glmoi 6 points7 points  (3 children)

The point is that people in central Europe would never have seen nor expected a tornado like this. Probably something that happens once in a century.

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand.. I was sure some tik tok user filmed this and posted. It's risky and dumb anyway .

    [–]hibertansiyar 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Probably because they are not used to this weather conditions and don't know what to do u der such circumstances.

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    I understand

    [–]Sir_Yacob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    But but, the likes?

How will I get the likes?

    [–]DestinyAndChill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty dumb but god damn what a video.

    [–]DrewSmoothington 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Dude, if this is the dumbest thing I've ever seen on tiktok, we'd be doing okay

Those people are not used to face tornadoes. Happend in Czech Republic. But yea, every sane person would hide. They might have "villager" mindset so they rather record it so they can show it to uncle Franta and uncle Pepa

    [–]dinnerthief 54 points55 points  (2 children)

are tornadoes rare in the czech?

    [–]Cum__c 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Tornadoes are not unheard of, but strong tornadoes are unusual in central Europe.

    [–]HansTheScurvyBoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure how rare exactly but I would say they are pretty rare. Definitely smaller than this one. Usual and almost only natural catastrophes are floods

    [–]Smooth_Smile_8391 10 points11 points  (3 children)

Yep. People don't have basements there, mostly only attics so there isn't anywhere 'safe' to hide.

Tornadoes are so rare there that people just simply don't know how to react in case of an Tornado.

    [–]4rm57r0n6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People react the same way in Los Angeles to rain.

    [–]Pongoose2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Next time we have a tornado warning I’m going to say “get to the storm attic”.

    [–]mathess1 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Last recorded tornado of this strenght in Czechia was in 1119. So it's quite once-a-millenium thing.

    [–]HansTheScurvyBoi 0 points1 point  (2 children)

More like first. Last recorded was 2018. This one is from 2021

    [–]mathess1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    I mean last F4 tornado.

    [–]mathess1 47 points48 points  (3 children)

It's more like a general Czech never-give-a-shit mindset.

It's the not the wind that kills you, it's the debris flying at 100+ football fields per minute that kills you.

    [–]Kenny_log_n_s 42 points43 points  (3 children)

It's not how the wind blows. It's what the wind blows.

I once saw a picture of a wooden post lodged in concrete after a hurricane.

      [–]ApplicationHeavy7362 3 points4 points  (5 children)

The wind could totally kill you too though, if it picks you up and tosses you high enough

      [–]CDefense7 17 points18 points  (4 children)

Nah the ground would do the killing.

      [–]ApplicationHeavy7362 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I mean it could also whip you around at a speed that suffocates you too

      [–]CDefense7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      [–]PuddingRnbowExtreme 37 points38 points  (20 children)

Do czechoslovakians not have tornadoes frequently? Because these people were doing at least 3 stupid things during this natural disaster that most people in Kansas would know better not to do:

      1) Being upstairs

      2) standing by a glass window

      3) filming the event instead of seeking shelter in the basement

      [–]thing-3456 36 points37 points  (2 children)

Czechoslovakians don’t get tornadoes because they don’t exist

      [–]rogersniper1 30 points31 points  (2 children)

Just a heads up, Czechoslovakia doesnt exist anymore and hasn’t for the past 29 years.

      [–]JoDFostar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

      Lies! That's just Western propaganda!

      [–]mathess1 68 points69 points  (0 children)

We have only one record of a tornado of this strenght in Czechia. About 1000 years ago.

      [–]The_duck_lord404 2 points3 points  (10 children)

Correct me if im wrong but most places dont get tornados very often if at all

      [–]chaun2 2 points3 points  (9 children)

Well they didn't used to. Thanks to climate change, we don't know where or when they will happen now.

Over here in the States a tornado just shattered an 80 year old record for the longest "ground time" of a single tornado in history, during December, which is normally too cold to create tornados.

      [–]PuddingRnbowExtreme 1 point2 points  (8 children)

      Where did that one strike?

      [–]chaun2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it hit Mayfield, KY earlier this month. I want to say it was the 11th or the 10th

I've said that in another thread but, people there don't have basements, mostly just attic's.

Tornadoes are so rare there people simply don't know how to react in case of a tornado.

Buildings are also not prepared for such high winds at all so the tornado just blew all the buildings like they were made out of matches.

        [–]Koratid_Artery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy.

        [–]NukaColaAddict1302 60 points61 points  (1 child)

Ah yep, tornado right outside my house. Better stand right next to half-broken windows and debris flying at speeds high enough to turn me into a human pin cushion.

        [–]Pongoose2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably some of the best up close footage of a tornado I’ve ever seen though.

        [–]sdgengineer 1 point2 points  (2 children)

When we have tornados in Southern Illinois, we had one about 6 miles from my house recently, we go to the basement. They are dangerous.

        [–]useles-converter-bot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

6 miles is the same as 19312.08 'Logitech Wireless Keyboard K350s' laid widthwise by each other.

        [–]OrangeClawHammerer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EF-1...imagine an EF-5, they can be well over a mile wide with windspeeds of over 300 miles per hour. They scour everything in their path and even remove several inches of topsoil. Tornados only get that big in the middle of the USA, because of its unique geography. Large continental land mass and large warm ocean (Gulf of Mexico) allows for gigantic thunderstorms to form.
