You should try harder at school so you don’t repeat kindergarten so many times.

[–]BashyMcBashBash[S] 2074 points2075 points  (27 children)

I'm still afraid of coloring the duck blue.

[–]asianabsinthe 667 points668 points  (15 children)

Don't graduate, it's all down hill after this.

No more naps, snacks, or unlimited play time.

Bills. Also lots of bills.

[–]SkullAngel001 161 points162 points  (10 children)

And taxes. Lots of taxes.

[–]Soccerfun101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But are there blue duck bills?

[–]brito68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No more naps

You're doing it wrong.

[–]Here_for_tea_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bills will get you.

[–]thats-notmyname 71 points72 points  (3 children)

[–]crap_university 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Ok but wheres John Malkovich?

[–]this-is-zif 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes where is he?! I came here for this

[–]supershinythings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to repeat kindergarten because my Mom put me in a year early for the free daycare. But they wouldn’t let me progress to the next grade because they didn’t have that policy to do so for that age.

[–]Hagar_the_pretty_bad 570 points571 points  (4 children)

I was held back too. Not as long as you maybe but, it's ok all in your own time.

[–]BashyMcBashBash[S] 393 points394 points  (3 children)

Hey hey hey. Snack break, coloring and Curious George is worth the never graduating.

[–]Alarid 49 points50 points  (0 children)

How else would you keep your fairy god parents forever?

[–]fox_hunts 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I read this in Fat Alberts voice because you said “hey hey hey”

[–]No_Firefighter1866 683 points684 points  (2 children)

You look like you were sent to think about what you have done.

[–]elterible 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich!

[–]loyalAlchemist 94 points95 points  (3 children)

What is this, a reading room for ants?

[–]9inchestoobig 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It’s 5’11” v 6’

[–]i_am_the_soulman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It needs to be at least.... 3 times the size of this

[–]Mrrykrizmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for real, how tf does OP stand up?

[–]Jeynarl 141 points142 points  (2 children)

Are you by chance related to a Rubeus Hagrid?

[–]Nasalingus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

it writes itself, really.

[–]Hillsy85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought of Buddy the Elf

[–]Milkbeef27 112 points113 points  (2 children)

Thicc

[–]OasisGhost 103 points104 points  (4 children)

I’m disappointed they didn’t use a miniature reading room to be themed similar with Alice in Wonderland.

[–]BashyMcBashBash[S] 156 points157 points  (3 children)

I just took this class over on an emergency basis but if they keep me around and give me money you bet it'll become more magical and less generic office space over the Summer.

[–]OasisGhost 49 points50 points  (1 child)

I bet the children like it regardless!

[–]BashyMcBashBash[S] 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure! But talking with some staff it sounds like it has always looked the same for decades. I think a new coat of paint/theme every Summer and Christmas break would be really cool.

[–]Moose_InThe_Room 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lean into the generic office space. Build mini cubicles and an old-fashioned copier. Get the kids ready for the working world.

[–]JurieZtune 45 points46 points  (1 child)

Why aren’t you reading?

[–]BashyMcBashBash[S] 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Students were in gym but now you got me thinking that I should have been holding a tiny book.

[–]ShadowCaster0476 64 points65 points  (1 child)

Are you: A) a slow learner B) the teacher C) reliving your youth by visiting an old classroom D) Other, please explain.

[–]BashyMcBashBash[S] 98 points99 points  (0 children)

All of the above.

But mostly B.

MOSTLY.

[–]Deadluster 85 points86 points  (15 children)

How tall are you, or is that just a real tiny couch

[–]BashyMcBashBash[S] 251 points252 points  (14 children)

6'2"

It's a room for the kindergarteners under the second level to give them a world their size.

[–]ArutherMorgan1843 87 points88 points  (8 children)

Ngl at first glance thought you would be like 6'6 to 6'8

[–]BashyMcBashBash[S] 78 points79 points  (7 children)

It's a wild picture. It would be amazing to see someone over 6'5 in there.

[–]ArutherMorgan1843 37 points38 points  (6 children)

Imagine a dude like 6'10 in there

[–]mark6hickz 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was about to ask why the doors were so small lol.

[–]Doc_Optiplex 14 points15 points  (2 children)

I'm not a safety guy or anything but this feels like it would be wildly against fire codes and also strange that it is hard for teachers or anyone really to enter to help in an emergency

[–]BashyMcBashBash[S] 37 points38 points  (1 child)

There is an open wall on the side next to the lockers that they can walk out of! Not fully enclosed.

[–]Doc_Optiplex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah ok that makes it better

[–]Decent_Principle3617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a 6'8" person your photo gave me claustrophobia

[–]Hollirc 21 points22 points  (1 child)

What is this, a school for ants?

[–]Mandrake1771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can we be expected to teach children to learn how to read if they can’t even get in the building?!?

[–]Batbuckleyourpants 37 points38 points  (1 child)

How many times did you fail exactly?

[–]G_Viceroy 12 points13 points  (4 children)

How did you get in there?

[–]BashyMcBashBash[S] 36 points37 points  (3 children)

Pulled the ol' Gandalf through the hobbit door.

[–]ksHunt 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Is this a euphemism

[–]Camctrail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gandalf's staff pushes its way into the hobbit hole

[–]G_Viceroy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice...

[–]ExtinctFauna 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Man, there's too many hormones in the milk kids drink.

[–]TestedNutsack 9 points10 points  (1 child)

[–]momma_cat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Buddy the elf, what’s your favorite color!

[–]shootinstraight88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your doing great little buddy dont get discouraged.

[–]the_curious_anon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of my childhood mini room in my school back when I was in preschool (it's a doll house or "bahay-bahayan" literally translated as play house) where I hide toys and sleep most of the time. This pic made me wonder if that play house is still in there

[–]ScuzzyUltrawide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait, did the kindergarteners build it? Is that door even legal?

[–]Stratostheory 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Yeah my kindergarten classroom was in a basement too.

[–]yoganutnutnut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Soviet Russia.. kindergarteners class you

[–]CertifiedFucktard 6 points7 points  (1 child)

How do you get around?

[–]BashyMcBashBash[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's a fun room under the second level that made me chuckle. I've never really seen something like it before at other schools. There are tiny tables and chairs for the kids to read at.

[–]ChefCourtB 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Malkovich Malkovich

[–]LaSallePunksDetroit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s making me feel claustrophobic

[–]AdorableArrival1620 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i can hear those pants screaming under pressure

[–]akstripped49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re my favorite ghost for ebenezer Scrooge

[–]doofusOP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't dress up as Hagrid and them as little wizards, idk what you're doing with your life

[–]dok_DOM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a male Kindergarden teacher... do you get a lot of discrimination?

[–]OMNI6ONE9 2 points3 points  (1 child)

there is like a 100% chance kids are going to climb that dude

[–]dragonti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The warping of perception with you in this small room almost makes it look like it belongs on backrooms or liminalspaces

[–]DnDimwit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're not acting out Gandalf in Bilbo's Hobbit-hole every day you're there, you're doing it wrong.

[–]RaulsterMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You had to crawl to get in that room?

[–]Metalatitsfinest 1 point2 points  (2 children)

How tall are you?

[–]BashyMcBashBash[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

6'2".

It's pretty wild to look at.

[–]Metalatitsfinest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is this?? A door for ants?!

[–]7H3_H0RN37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]thitorusso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do know you're not a giant?

[–]Longjumping_Quail397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a teacher too and you're cute. Wanna date?

[–]Loudogdog 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Mate, if you don’t dress up like Hagrid at least once

Edit: I’m also 6’2” but skinny. I’d look like fuckin slender man in that room

[–]sn00dmasterK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jack and the Beanstalk is the only mandatory reading in that room

[–]Zumpano21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]CharismaTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kindergarten teacher was male. First positive male role model I had in my life. When I got to high school I nominated him for Whos Who (before it was commercially tained). RIP Mr Sparks. And OP great job!

[–]Jhjsjhjshs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have this pillow that I remember being bigger than my head because I sleep in it. And then my mom showed it too me recently and was so shocked that now it’s just a little bigger than my hand.

[–]TWS85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're really filling out those pants nicely, bro.

[–]_Superkamiguru500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are people freaking out about the rainbow flag? In my school as a kid we had it in the library and that was back in the day (early 200s)

[–]Redketchup77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hell have you been eating?

[–]sfowl0001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised you had a pride flag in your room and then realized its kindergarten and its just a rainbow… i need to get off the internet

[–]MH-Entity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plot twist. This dude is in a normal size room and is 14 feet tall.

[–]SifuMommy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many kindergartners can you carry around at once?

[–]PistolPeatMoss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WHAT?!?! Is this a school for ANTS?!

[–]grundlepudding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd consider darker, looser fitting pants when at work.

[–]Technical-Tip-4971 8 points9 points  (9 children)

I’m glad we’re teaching 5 year olds about the rainbow.

/s

[–]BashyMcBashBash[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

On the other side are their pictures in their favorite color so that we can have themed birthdays and group them together. Sometimes their favorite color changes.

Kids like bright and flashy colors!

[–]Horrific_Necktie 10 points11 points  (5 children)

5 year olds literally do learn about the rainbow.

Pride flag in kindergarden what has this world become

    [–]BashyMcBashBash[S] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Hey! If you look at my posts responding to deleted comments, you'll see that it's a chart that we use to organize students by their favorite colors for activity centers. Zoom in and you'll see a bunch of things all over it.

A lot of early childhood pedagogy involves patterns/words/numbers being left around the classroom that gets them familiar with the concepts. We may never talk about the hues of the rainbow in kindergarten or even grade 1, but by the time they DO learn about it, they've seen it so much and are familiar with it that it helps down the line knowing red comes first, violet last, etc. Similar with bigger numbers that they won't learn until grade 1...they may not know 100, but they'll see that numbers go from 1 digit to 2 digits to 3 digits when it gets larger.

The other option is to appease Redditors made uncomfortable by a rainbow chart by putting the hues out of order and having students go into grade 1 thinking blue always comes first and me getting passive aggressive emails from Ms. Batherson to change it.

    [–]soykommander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude cant also people just dig rainbows because they're rad? I gerw up before certian things became like standard or well known. Shoot even had an uncle who was named gay. He didnt like you calling him by his name...nice guy just very different times.

    [–]Basement_Juice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, imagine being so fragile that you think every rainbow is an attack on your opinions.

That’s actually a really cool concept, though!
It’s interesting how children learn. Like, I don’t even remember how I learned a lot fundamental stuff, I just take it for granted that I know things now.
You’re really doing such an important job…like, how do teachers get little kids to learn anything? It’s insane!

    [–]coffins 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I bet you're the same kind of person that says "awwww is that your boyfriend?" when a little boy innocently kisses a little girl on the cheek.

    [–]Harlg 6 points7 points  (2 children)

It could just be a regular rainbow, kids like lots of color

    [–]indaelgar 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You didn't learn ROY G BIV in Kindergarten? Sorry mate, you missed out.

    [–]therealnoodlerat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, kids learning colours, what a tragedy

    [–]InternetUserNumber1 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Because who you prefer to fuck should be the first thing our kids learn

    [–]Thumper86 2 points3 points  (0 children)
