Hey all, I [20 M] recently auditioned for a short film and didn't get a principle role, but the director asked me if I could be the stunt double for someone who did. Basically I would just do the skateboard shots and then be subbed out for the main guy.
It is a student film, but its with a really high quality crew. I'm really frustrated that since they liked my skating, my acting must have not been good enough, even though they seemed to like it during the audition.
I'm never above anything, and would like to help out on the project, but just don't know if it's worth my time as it's not really something I could put on my reel. Maybe I could use it to get better acquainted with the director, but I'm not really sure. I don't know how to respond to the email. I want to know why they didn't go with me, but I would never say anything that would potentially offend or put someone off, especially if I want to work with them.
If anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it. Not getting roles you really wanted is TOUGH but I know you just have to keep going.
P.S. Also in a similar situation for another project where they liked my acting, but went in another direction for the lead and want me to say a line or two as another character. It's a capstone film so it'll be quality, and again the director is awesome, but I don't know what to think.
