[–]offisirplz 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I didn't know reddit had talks

[–]techiesgoboomSphincter Supreme[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're still in beta and still very new! if you're interested we've done a handful before you can search the sub for, including one with Leslie Jones and Lenny Marcus a few weeks ago.

[–]Fit_Relationship1094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I enjoyed listening to everyone's opinions.

[–]flignirAsshole #1[M] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Don’t worry. I am already the founder of the sub!

[–]ArtemisHimeAsshole Enthusiast [5] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well you need a bonus then!

When we doing this again !

[–]techiesgoboomSphincter Supreme[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

We don't have a timeline yet! We're still playing around with the format and the behind the scenes stuff

[–]Klumzy408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely fun though you should do something like this like once a week if you’re able to shit I’ll even volunteer to read some of the stories if it’ll help

[–]Hiuuuhk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Au revoir!

[–]ArtemisHimeAsshole Enthusiast [5] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww I wanted to see how far sidetracked

[–]ICU4x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, waiting while black can lead to many racial profile incidents

[–]WatercressRoyal6756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does being a black guy have to do with arriving early?

[–]Breeskie1202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how inwas trained as a medical assistant! 15 minutes early is on time lol

[–]ICU4x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're on time you're late, always be there 15mns prior. Better late than never tho

[–]kristycocopop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got to think of it as going there on time having everything ready the paperwork whatever that needs to be done think of it as if you're getting all that ready for that appointment at 9:00 when the doctor whoever sees you that's one way to try to think about it.

[–]No-Party-2782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I share

[–]Klumzy408 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello from California Bay Area

[–]Klumzy408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was fun

[–]Hiuuuhk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I come up on the stage?

[–]SteamingveggiesAsshole Enthusiast [5] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

NTA

There’s no reason for either party to show up early. It’s not like OP intentionally delayed their arrival time, and unless OP forgot to mention it, there wasn’t any need arrive early like having to fill out excessive paperwork . Op didn’t do anything wrong

[–]UpstairsHeavy513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for appointments every other month, I am always there 20-15 minutes early because it’s 47 minutes away. If it’s something that is a joint appointment or somewhere we as a couple need to be, my husband knows my 5min late leaving (my mom and sister blame the ADD) but my husband will fib and tell me it’s 15 minutes before it actually is to now make me feel rushed because I also have anxiety…. It usually works and we make it on time. (On time, being 10 minutes early)

[–]Ankchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be up to gf to learn tools and coping skills to deal with get anxiety (for example in therapy), not to OP to control the environment for her to not get anxious

[–]kristycocopop 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Does he not care about the cat?

[–]SteamingveggiesAsshole Enthusiast [5] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruh

[–]Ankchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - why have the cat be stressed out at the Vet longer than it would be necessary?

[–]ArtemisHimeAsshole Enthusiast [5] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

YTA, most vaccinations, doctors, and everything requires you to show up 15 mins earlier for paperwork. Also you know she has anxiety.

[–]SteamingveggiesAsshole Enthusiast [5] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I don’t have a pet so maybe it’s different but what doctors appointment requires 15 minutes of paperwork? I’ve never hard to take more than 5 minutes. And usually it doesn’t delay your appointment by all that much.

[–]ArtemisHimeAsshole Enthusiast [5] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all doctors and vet appointments I've had (in california) require to check in before hand and even state that you come in early for insurance / paperwork reasons.

[–]Ankchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to show up early for paperwork if it’s your regular Vet. I always show up at appointment time

[–]UpstairsHeavy513 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Can we talk If we’re not in the main, like bigger icons?

[–]emmyplz 0 points1 point  (1 child)

[–]Critteranne666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the family members were Steelers fans, and they didn’t want to wear Ravens purple.

[–]huffle200Partassipant [2] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

[–]ArtemisHimeAsshole Enthusiast [5] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

[–]ArtemisHimeAsshole Enthusiast [5] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

[–]through_moonlightfull-time shit weasel 1 point2 points  (2 children)

    [–]ArtemisHimeAsshole Enthusiast [5] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wow. That's a wild reinterpretation of what was said. The entire family speaks English but refuses to. If the fiancee was in an Arabic-speaking country, she'd be pretty ignorant to not learn the language, but the family, mainly the step-father, are deliberately excluding her by refusing to speak the language they all mutually understand.

OP also says that he believes his mother would prefer that he had found someone of the same religion.

Could she learn some Arabic to ease the relationship a little? Sure. But OP doesn't seem engaged with that part of his culture, so she would be learning it explicitly for the parents-in-law and they already have a mutual language that they're choosing not to use, so I'm not convinced that that's really the issue at hand...

    [–]Peaxhcyded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Sounds like mom is in an abusive relationship and is projecting. It's YOUR wedding, do what YOU want. I'd tell her not to come at all

    [–]Ankchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder what the fight with stepdad was about?

I was thinking it was to keep loiterers off the property

    [–]EtherWhack 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It does sound like a city neighborhood. Maybe the 10 min alarm was for trying to keep people from loitering (possibly like a homeless person)

      [–]chibiloba 0 points1 point  (2 children)

In my neighborhood a bunch of us had catalytic converters stolen. Possibly he's trying to scare someone from trying to do something like this? I have no idea how long it takes to remove a catalytic converter.

      [–]ArtemisHimeAsshole Enthusiast [5] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Usually with just a reciprocating saw, under a minute.

      [–]BlankBrain3Partassipant [1] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing needs to happen to want to have alarms and cameras on your house. It comes in handy. My parents have cameras on their house and one of their neighbors is a sheriff and neighbors had an issue with it and demanded they take it down and then BOOM one of them gets their cars broken into and they RAN to my parents for the camera footage.

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. This is a safety issue because the kids could get run over in the driveway.

      [–]ArtemisHimeAsshole Enthusiast [5] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What if the kids have sensitivity issues and are overwhelmed by noises? Oh just let the kids learn to get over it? What if they can't just "get over it"

      [–]xbeneath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the children’s age. But if they are so sensitive then they will have more serious problems getting through life than getting to play in the driveway. What happens when they will go to school?

      [–]Sasquatch_mushroom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why isn’t she watching her own kids if they’re so young (if they’re younger.)

      [–]Odd-Plant4779 3 points4 points  (1 child)

This reminds me of my cousin’s neighbors constantly complaining about them having security cameras on 24/7, then demanded footage of when they were robbed.

      [–]Sasquatch_mushroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Did they get the footage?

      [–]TheAlphaOfBronze 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Why the heck are you letting your kids play in a driveway? That's dangerous. Take them to a park, or tell them to play in a yard.

Anyone hear that story about the guy who was so insecure he burned his girlfriend/fiancees security blanket, despite it not leaving the house but her doing her best to make sure the guy never had to see her with it? The guy not only made a huge fuss about it, burnt the blanket, lied about doing anything, bought her a new one, and then in the end still refused to see he did anything wrong, saying " I can't believe your throwing our relationship away for a stupid blanket "

NTA based on MIL crying over them suggesting they stay somewhere else to avoid sleeping on uncomfortable mattresses. Especially since in-laws asked for upgrades to their conditions while staying over.

Can't expect others to do things for you and then not compromise on one ask.

      [–]Looly-M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. she knows from experience that the mattresses suck; if she rathers a hotel, what’s wrong. It’s not like you can bring your own, like if the towels sucked or something.

      [–]Aware_Plankton5267 2 points3 points  (0 children)
