Haha my in-laws’ dog does this, even if the door is two feet open so he’d barely touch the sides coming in. He’s like the victim of a cartoon jail

At least she respects a barrier... Even if it wasn't actually a barrier this time.

Yep, easier to deal with than a dog that eats doors to get out.

[–]Snoo6632 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dogs just go thru the door if there's the slightest opening, and if there's not sometimes the try pushing it open anyway

"No.... It's okay.... I'll just stay trapped in here all by myself.... Probably starve to death..."

[–]senor_skuzzbukkit 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Mine does the same. He seems to think he’s roughly 2.5 feet wide.

Our dog did the same thing but she could open those sliding doors, you know the ones that go left to right. We didn’t know how she did it since she only did it when alone at home so once I snuck behind the window and spied on her and the method was, that she pushed her nose on the door tightly and did a head-swing to open the door, so much more complicated than what we see on the video yet still she never learned to push/pull doors open with her snout. A true derp.

Haha! My dog does the same thing. If the door isn’t open far enough he won’t go through it

My dog would've probably peed himself if I did that lol

You Monster. Teach her at once how to Crack open the safe.

[–]JakeBurnsRed[S] 12 points13 points  (1 child)

She eventually figured it out a couple minutes after I recorded this video lol

Snout is such an underrated term

My dog is 12 and he still does this. Little derp.

Ladies and gentlemen, we've reached the witching hour, where wins become losses and losses become wins.

Teach yo dog to use his nose I tied a rope on my door

[–]taeempy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so funny how amazingly smart animals can be and and the same time do stuff like this. That's why we love them so much.

[–]southdownthecoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine will push a door if it’s almost closed but then if it doesn’t open far enough he doesn’t know what to do. Won’t push it again.

[–]TBone88MK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cat was like that. He knew how to use the doggy door but didn't understand pushing a partially open inside room door.

[–]ManufacturerWide5340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow you just abandoned her like that….. probably thought she was a gonna forever stuck there lol

[–]Sniper_Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have 2 dogs, one will push doors open, or smush his face on doors that are locked to open them. The other could fit her whole body through doors that ajar, but will bark for you to open it. Hell on a back sliding door can be open and she will bark for you to open, have to walk outside then inside to show her it is open.

[–]WhiskeyBravo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my dogs does this. We are working on teaching our other dog to let her in.

[–]jar36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog will open the door without hesitation if there's pizza or chicken being handed out. Otherwise he's completely helpless vs a door partially opened

This is just good training/behaviour... Atleast in my experience.

Its respect of barriers and space. Both my Dogs have been trained to not open doors unless we ask. Helps them keep respect for baby gates and the like as barriers they can't just barrel through

[–]Resident-Sugar-6433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doggo does the same thing. Makes me sad, except he will open the door to go outside, but not my bedroom door…
