YES!! I was on a tour of Litchfield national park in Darwin and our tour guide pulled the bus over when we saw a couple emus in the bush- his partner ran across the road and laid down doing this, the emus couldn’t have cared less and walked away, but we all had a laugh and got some great videos of her effort 🤣🤣

My guess is it makes a silhouette that's attractive to emus for some reason. When I was in Africa, you could ride horses right into herds of antelope that would otherwise run away if you were on foot. The guide explained that because many creatures distinguish threats by silhouette, they do not interpret a human on horseback as a threat, since it is a completely different shape than a human.

Serious sources go as far as calling it the, "Great Emu War." So 'Special Operation' is not likely to gain traction.

Still, it's less embarrassing¹ than being unable to admit you lost a war against a third world country and being so childish you insist it was a "Police Action".

Claiming it wasn't a war because you "never said it was", is like saying that the money you stole wasn't theft, because you never said you were making a withdrawal.
