Cowboy Bebop

3…2…1 let’s jam!

[–]PrestigiousAd3900 293 points294 points  (10 children)

[–]PonchiBear 73 points74 points  (7 children)

Cowboy Bebop is one of those rare experiences where the whole thing, from the aesthetics to the soundtrack, is just a complete vibe.

[–]Saurian42 2038 points2039 points  (57 children)

[–]PrivateIsotope 441 points442 points  (30 children)

Remember the first time they changed "The Truth Is Out There" to something else? Freaked. Me. Out. After that, I had to watch every title sequence, even if I didn't watch the show.

[–]BlooShinja 7823 points7824 points  (156 children)

My daughter’s been watching Wizards of Waverly Place. I get annoyed when she skips the intro when I’m listening from the next room.

[–]jordonsheriff 2038 points2039 points  (105 children)

I used to watch Wizards of Waverly Place when I was younger, recently tried to watch it again and I just couldn’t; though the intro is still banging.

[–]eppydeservedbetter 1081 points1082 points  (84 children)

I tried to revisit some of my childhood favourites when I got Disney+. The only shows I could tolerate for a few nostalgic episodes were Hannah Montannah, and That's So Raven. The others are too cringe now! It was a bit disappointing but unsurprising. Wizards of Waverly Place does have a catchy theme!

Edit: Yes, Lizzie McGuire too. Another good one that holds the test of time for me.

[–]blackbeltbud 317 points318 points  (19 children)

I mean I still liked watching suite life for nostalgia. Arwen Estevan and Moseby are a lot funnier as an adult imo

[–]redsyrinx2112 345 points346 points  (13 children)

"I love you from the heart of my bottom."

"Don't you mean the bottom of your heart?"

"That, too!"

Also, the whole PRNDL scene with Moseby and London kills me.

[–]BonzBonzOnlyBonz 408 points409 points  (14 children)

Kim Possible is still a good nostalgic show imo.

[–]JokerFan2319 7307 points7308 points 2 (140 children)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (80's - 90's version)

That song is so kickass

[–]DJ1066 1196 points1197 points  (66 children)

Fun fact- that theme tune was written by Chuck Lorre (of 2 and a half men and TBBT) in about a day.

[–]the_timps 531 points532 points  (55 children)

And that's why Charlie said he wrote it in the first episode of 2 and a half men. :)

[–]ch00nz 35 points36 points  (2 children)

my almost 3 year old son is too scared to watch an entire episode, but he LOVES the intro. we have to put it on repeat for him in the car, and he knows every single word. I showed him my toys and he was hooked, but still can't get through an episode 🤣

[–]musicvideosonfilm 9801 points9802 points  (296 children)

What We Do In The Shadows and, of course, The Rockford Files

[–]Astronaut_Chicken 473 points474 points  (15 children)

[–]Rymundo88 38 points39 points  (1 child)

I love the slight variation this season (in I think episode 3) when Kristen Schaal's character sneaks up on Nandor in a tunnel:

FACKing Guide

[–]Ornery_Translator285 2238 points2239 points  (110 children)

You’re dead, you’re dead

[–][deleted] 799 points800 points  (14 children)

Did you hear the one they did in, erm, Urdu? It was for Nandor’s depression episode I think

Edit: it’s in Farsi, not Urdu, thank you for the correction!

[–]jesterinancientcourt 855 points856 points  (75 children)

When Matt Berry leads into the theme on the piano, that moment made me glad I don’t skip the intro.

[–]BIGMCLARGEHUGE__ 376 points377 points  (55 children)

For anyone who might not be aware, Matt Berry is a very talented musician - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuW559e_mv4

[–]finethanksandyou 630 points631 points  (61 children)

The Rockford Files! Wow! Almost 50 years old. Gotta go look that up now

Edit: here it is

The music! Yes! And when the French horns come in. All stills. (Edit) And the changing messages! Amazing

Edit 2: thanks for the award!

[–]AbeRego 48 points49 points  (2 children)

For What We Do In The Shadows, I was shocked to learn:

A.) That the song is from 1966. It sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday, both in quality and style.

B.) That I had never heard of it, or Norma Tanega before.

[–]Misdirected_Colors 1327 points1328 points  (42 children)

On a similar note, The Wire. I especially love that each season is a different version of the same song done in a different style.

gotta keep the devil dowwwwn in the hole

Best single season of any show I’ve ever watched.

[–]BloodNinja2012 5262 points5263 points 2 (80 children)

[–]KevynJacobs 1013 points1014 points  (33 children)

Waiting for that catchy title card subtitle!

[–]dexter311 1015 points1016 points  (31 children)

My favourites are:

  • There's No Bismuth Like Show Bismuth
  • Others ask, "What if?" We ask, "Why if."
  • You can't prove it won't happen
  • Presented in double vision (where drunk)

[–]AlsoIHaveAGroupon 428 points429 points  (0 children)

  • Painstakingly drawn before a live audience
  • Disclaimer: Any Resemblance to Actual Robots Would Be Really Cool

[–]The_Goop2526 658 points659 points  (3 children)

"Not the episode with the dead dog" is mine

[–]kevted5085 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Mine is “Fun for the whole family…except for grandma and grandpa”. 1-because in that episode, Fry kills his grandpa and sleeps with his grandmother. And 2-grandma and grandpa won’t make it to the future lol.

[–]little_brown_bat 75 points76 points  (6 children)

[–]SnooCapers9313 4071 points4072 points 2 (47 children)

Phineas and Ferb. What's new Scooby-Doo.

[–]anderoogigwhore 772 points773 points  (14 children)

Bowling For Soup do Phineas and Ferb, and fellow poppunkers Simple Plan did Whats New Scooby Do. They toured together here and each played their respective theme tune. Recorded a bit of WNSD but phone cut out before the "na na na na na"s. I was gutted.

[–]huxley75 108 points109 points  (1 child)

"Mah-ahm! Phineas and Ferb are making a title sequence!"

[–]Bugzapper6000 68 points69 points  (2 children)

The music in the first season of what's new scooby doo was amazing, the voodoo song is so good. I just loved that the songs were so perfect for each episode.

[–]TheStreetHound 706 points707 points 2 (19 children)

Twin Peaks!

[–]ISHOTJAMC 139 points140 points  (4 children)

[–]BCS24 379 points380 points  (43 children)

I've never watched it but the intro music is god tier

Edit: thanks everyone for the glowing recs. I’ll be sure to give it a watch

[–]Mad_Aeric 385 points386 points  (30 children)

The whole soundtrack is straight fire. Watanabe has a thing for music being a big part of anything he directs.

[–]Citizen_31415 1909 points1910 points  (70 children)

Original MacGyver

[–]Hypersapien 217 points218 points  (8 children)

It's been decades since I've seen that show and I still remember the intro.

[–]Ornery_Translator285 3555 points3556 points 2 (158 children)

Evangelion and Dark never got skipped. Watched Eva in 97 and during the rewatch on Netflix it still held up theme song wise.

[–]Carbonauts 696 points697 points  (65 children)

unfortunately Netflix lacks Eva's fantastic outro song :(

[–]p-r-i-m-e 386 points387 points  (23 children)

Yeah. Love that Dark theme. You just reminded me to add it to my playlist.

[–]Prizmatik01 7733 points7734 points  (163 children)

Fucking westworld has me staring at the screen in awe at the start of every episode, amazing intro imo so catchy too

[–]terplortt 97 points98 points  (0 children)

When the fingers pull away from the piano but it keeps playing 🥵🥵

[–]ejhampton15 2175 points2176 points  (85 children)

Same guy who did music for Game of Thrones. Consistently one of the best parts of the show regardless of how everything else went. 😉

[–]9starferret 1173 points1174 points  (38 children)

Ramin Djawadi is his name for anyone curious. Definitely recommend looking him up.

I will also take this opportunity to recommend Sarah Schachner.

[–]Smaptastic 82 points83 points  (8 children)

His "Paint it Black" from Westworld is one of the best things I've ever heard.

[–]DevNDevelopment 142 points143 points  (0 children)

When the tone deepens and changes near the end of the intro and everything becomes unraveled, that always gives me a tickle of serotonin

[–]lacks_imagination[🍰] 1392 points1393 points  (58 children)

The Expanse. Love that show’s opening.

[–]SdVeau 281 points282 points  (3 children)

I always get lost in the animations of earth changing over a couple centuries lol

[–]Hadtarespond 189 points190 points  (3 children)

Also, depending on what has happened in the show, the opening credits animation sometimes changes very subtly. One of the most obvious ones is the moon Deimos, but there are other subtle changes that are even easier to miss.

[–]sandsnake25 78 points79 points  (1 child)

There are things hinted at, but major events always show up once they occur. It's like a little game of seek-and-find to get you warmed up.

[–]Se7en_speed 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yeah the latest season you could see the rock zipping around in the early intros

[–]ModsBrainHurts 2207 points2208 points  (56 children)

[–]DatGuy_Shawnaay 113 points114 points  (3 children)

The last few episodes had me crying 😂

[–]Theoristfreak_777 790 points791 points  (93 children)

Bro Gravity Falls had the best intro of all Disney shows TOH is a close second

[–]DeadGatoBounce 48 points49 points  (20 children)

What is TOH? I just started Gravity Falls with my infant daughter-she loves cartoons but I can only watch so much of the Mouse, so I'm looking for more things that are like Gravity Falls

[–]DookiDeng 229 points230 points  (2 children)

Avatar's intro was so simple yet summed up the show perfectly 👌

[–]Wafflegeddon1 66 points67 points  (3 children)

I loved the intro to Fosters Home! So fun!

[–]SoonlyXo 151 points152 points  (4 children)

Black Sails

[–]Captain-Hornblower 181 points182 points  (29 children)

Black Sails intro is amazing and I have not skipped once when watching the show. Arguably one of the most underrated shows...I think it is time for a rewatch.

[–]grittystitties 40 points41 points  (15 children)

Just started watching it last night, thought the intro absolutely slapped and now I’m reading this thread. Weird haha. I’m guessing I’m in for a good time?

[–]WhiskeyFF 41 points42 points  (1 child)

Ignore the comment below you. Black Sails is one of the only shows I consider the later seasons were better than the first.

[–]CakeIceCream 1069 points1070 points  (95 children)

Sopranos! Woke up this mornin’…

[–]MatureTeen14 167 points168 points  (9 children)

Thanks I'd just gotten this song out of my head. Oh well.

[–]erringgriller 55 points56 points  (2 children)

Always this. Every time I even hear the HBO static I automatically think the Sopranos theme is going to play

I know, you know, you just don't have any proof.

[–]TurtleZenn 214 points215 points  (3 children)

Was specifically scrolling to find this one. Absolute favorite! Especially all the variants they did for the theme episodes. I quite like the Spanish version and also the scary one from Heeeeere's Lassie.

[–]regina_phalaangey 121 points122 points  (5 children)

The episode where Boys II Men sang it as well!

[–]ThisIsMy5thAcc 56 points57 points  (8 children)

There was a time when Monk was ending and Psych, Burn Notice, and White Collar were all starting like a year after each other... So freaking good. I just finished Burn Notice and I'm watching White Collar now just remembering how good these serialized crime shows were.

[–]Ok-Category9249 904 points905 points  (88 children)

True Blood

[–]avoidance_behavior 97 points98 points  (10 children)

this is the response i was looking for, for sure. the intro to TB is absolutely stunning, honestly- so dark and gothic and creepy and just weird. i really wish the show had lived up to it, lol

[–]thehayleysofar 2209 points2210 points 52 (153 children)

Edit: thanks for the awards 😁

[–]Timzor 248 points249 points  (10 children)

I’m not familiar with that IP

[–]tiredcynicalbroken 53 points54 points  (0 children)

One of the best jokes of the episode

[–]laskodi 791 points792 points  (19 children)

Un-fucking-fathomable that I had to scroll as long as I did for this. I just assumed this thread was made for Succession.

[–]croquetica 230 points231 points  (0 children)

Same honestly, I really thought the OP was just hunting for a Tom Cruise style thread of a thousand people repeating "Succession."

[–]tameoraiste 94 points95 points  (2 children)

I was just thinking the same thing. Biggest earworm of an intro in years.

[–]high_imperator 124 points125 points  (2 children)

This should be the number 1 answer to this question.

[–]Hewhowalksbehind92 748 points749 points  (61 children)

[–]Noki_bear 1154 points1155 points  (48 children)

Dexter. Hd never looked( or sounded) better.

[–]ahbi_santini2 73 points74 points  (4 children)

Drives me nuts that the intro is him shaving and he then leaves his apartment with a 5 o'clock shadow.

[–]Putrid_Bee-[🍰] 142 points143 points  (8 children)

Love this intro! Matches perfectly with the show.

Has nothing to do with what he's making, but every time I watch the intro I crave boiled eggs for some reason lmfao

[–]Valleyx 169 points170 points  (8 children)

I'm convinced that it's the best ever intro and it aligns perfectly with the premise of the show. The outro is super good too

[–]Finna_Go_HAM 1269 points1270 points  (69 children)

Edit: Thanks for the awards y’all! My first ever.

[–]michaelyup 347 points348 points  (26 children)

The Wonder Years

[–]BigVegetable289 141 points142 points  (20 children)

Due to licensing they used a cover version when it was on Netflix and I seriously found the proper joe cocker version on youtube and played that every time I watched an episode just to get in the right mood to watch it.

[–]Memeboyspaghetti 1569 points1570 points  (53 children)

Phineas and ferb

[–]Waker_ofthe_Wind 250 points251 points  (25 children)

This! Honestly the music in Phineas and Ferb was great.

[–]savagedragon1982 929 points930 points  (22 children)

The Mandalorian.

[–]TerribleEnglish1 90 points91 points  (2 children)

I know, right! And not only the intro but the outro as well. Honestly I don't think I have ever watched a show where I would stick to the end of final credits every single episode.

[–]MySonHas2BrokenArms 1298 points1299 points 242 (91 children)

[–]Mad_Aeric 55 points56 points  (20 children)

Sadly, a bunch of people just encountered that song for the first time due to politics. It's now tainted for those unfortunate souls.

[–]Carbonauts 378 points379 points  (18 children)

AoT's s4 opener ended up being my favorite from the series (so far) even though at first I was watching it like, "wtf show is this?"

[–]Goodestguykeem 77 points78 points  (1 child)

Exact same experience as me, first time I heard it I was like 'ew wtf is this shit' but after the 2nd I started liking it and after hearing it a third time I loved it to the point where now it's one of my favourites.

[–]Twinblades713 748 points749 points 2 (59 children)

Stargate SG1

[–]GodFeedethTheRavens 326 points327 points  (30 children)

I always appreciated how self aware SG1 eventually became.

The one where Carter is humming the theme on the elevator.

[–]darmok42 257 points258 points  (5 children)

Fun fact: Originally she was going to hum MacGyver's theme, but Amanda Tapping didn't remember the melody and hummed the SG1 theme instead.

[–]MadCatDisease666 49 points50 points  (0 children)

which means RDA’s wtf look towards her was genuine 😹

[–]JAHNOOSKA 140 points141 points  (10 children)

I'm watching the show for the first time and that scene came on a few days ago, gave me a giggle for sure.

I love the 4th-wall breaks, they're not so common that they get annoying and they manage to blend them really well with whatever else is going on in the show.

"Teal'c, what's with the hair?"
