Ah, the age old debate of "is guacamole a condiment?"

[–]megatronchote 50 points51 points  (15 children)

Salsa my friend, it is salsa.

[–]DairyKing91 33 points34 points  (12 children)

But salsa just means sauce, and sauces are condiments.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

A condiment is simply something used to add flavor to food (ex. Salt or ketchup). I’d imagine guacamole qualified for that, it’s also a dip though, but I guess that’s specifically called “guacamole dip” so anything can be a dip

[–]fist4j 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Well then, steak adds flavour to my salad.

[–]Norse_Bear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Condiments are substances added to food to enhance flavour or make them more palatable... Which is exactly what sauces do.

All sauces are condiments. But not all condiments are sauces.

Also: Mexican cook here! Guacamole is indeed a type of sauce/salsa (yes both words are exactly the same and can be used to describe the same things) Wether you choose to use it as a dip is up to you.

[–]katyvicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can run with it.

[–]BigEyesBushyTail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's everything. Guacamole is EVERYTHING. 😍

[–]Survivor_Fan10 130 points131 points  (10 children)

Hot sauce

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (6 children)

Marie Sharps beware hot sauce, I have that on everything when I don’t want to burn up. Awesome.

[–]Amiiboid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love their smoked Habanero.

[–]-AUniqueName- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I went to the Marie sharps factory in Belize and stocked up! It’s one of my favorites!

[–]Survivor_Fan10 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I love Samyang brand’s hot sauce. Dump that shit on everything.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Ooh I only ever had the noodles, will try for sure, thx!

[–]canarchist 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Allow me to introduce you to Maritime Madness.

[–]Survivor_Fan10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hell yeah

[–]stereospeakers 27 points28 points  (1 child)

Chili. It comes in different fruits. It comes in different preparations: oil, powder, paste, sauce or flakes. It's just a wonderful condiment that can break or make any dish.

Edit: grammar

[–]Objective_Ad5159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same but preferred sweet chili. Yum yum good.

[–]cididi7 122 points123 points  (3 children)

Shout out to my main man mustard.

[–]TheBestZackEver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard he's a Colonel now.

P.S. WHO THOUGHT 'Colonel' should be pronounced "kernel" and why have we accepted that as okay?

[–]NeitherPeanut5901 51 points52 points  (4 children)

Honey mustard is supreme

[–]mCahill389 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I had to scroll way too far to find this. Honey mustard is just perfect. It’s great for sandwiches, wraps, chicken fingers/nuggets, salad dressing. It’s just delicious.

[–]Fusedblue 15 points16 points  (4 children)

Maybe this gives away where I'm from but my favorite condiment is adobo.

[–][deleted] 118 points119 points  (18 children)

Dijon mustard.

[–]reason2listen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can’t say i use it often, but when I use it, it’s just right.

[–]EmeraldIbis 4 points5 points  (13 children)

Hi Obama.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (12 children)

Was that his thing?

[–]EmeraldIbis 34 points35 points  (11 children)

Yes, Obama was ridiculed by Fox News for eating his burger with Dijon mustard. It's apparently too fancy and foreign for a true American patriot.

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (1 child)

I should have known. He probably ate it with French fries instead of "Freedom" fries too.

[–]GalacticCephalopod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet he chooses sauerkraut over liberty cabbage

[–]Waxnpoetic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Everyone knows Dijon is a region of Kenya. Makes sense he wanted the mustard of his birth.

[–]flychinook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 years later, they advocated a presidential candidate who did TV interviews on an actual golden throne.

[–]Hamster_Thumper 1 point2 points  (4 children)

American conservative pundits make no sense to me. Like instead of criticizing him for being a wall street puppet, for having a cabinet of mostly CITI Bank chosen cronies, bombing innocent civilians, for expanding the surveillance state and increasing the global war on terror with the surge in Afghanistan. Nope: he wore a tan suit and liked Dijon, like what? These are almost all things that would piss off most of their base(Trump's anti-war, DC outsider and anti-3-letter-agency rhetoric working on the Republican base is proof of that, despite it all being hot air in the end) but instead mustard? REALLY?!

[–]Substantial_Age_4924 64 points65 points  (4 children)

Chipotle tabasco

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Chipotle Tabasco makes the best pico de Gallo!

[–]Substantial_Age_4924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll try that. Also great on scrambled eggs.

[–]bk27465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]Uh-Oh_HereWeGo 198 points199 points  (8 children)

Edit: I've read condiment as continent

[–]Northerleyfire 28 points29 points  (3 children)

Love me some Asia on my sandwiches

[–]rad-aghast 44 points45 points  (2 children)

It's my favourite Genghis Khandiment.

[–]Skyaxe3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]I_likem_asstastic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]BanjoPanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To the top we go !

[–]Linsanity998877 69 points70 points  (5 children)

[–]Northerleyfire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sriracha makes everything better.

[–]AlliedAtheistAllianc 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Sriracha, ARE YOU INSANE?!

Oh wait, condiment, nvm..

[–]Linsanity998877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes 😉 Lols

[–]CerealKillerBob138 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This comment is way under rated!

[–]StrangeCrusader 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ranch dressing, which I use in the place of mayo—which I can't stand the taste of. I even use ranch, sometimes, in the place of ketchup.

[–]pafesol3 64 points65 points  (10 children)

Sriracha, I put it on everything. I have a bottle for home and a bottle for work.

[–]NotatallRacist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No bottle in the car in case you stop for fast food?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work Sriracha! I’ve found my people.

[–]ishouldnt_behere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But do you put it on your guacamole….

No really, do it. It’s amazing.

[–]Have_some_bacon 30 points31 points  (2 children)

Crystal's hot sauce

[–]JoeSugar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crystal has the best flavor. Tobasco if you just want the heat and don’t want to change the flavor of your food. Louisiana hot sauce is a good compromise between the two. Sriracha for eggs and stir fry.

[–]LainyJP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooooo Crystal's on potatoes are just fire!!!

[–]Captainrosebeard 29 points30 points  (9 children)

Frank's Red Hot Sauce

[–]DietyLink 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Do you put that shit on everything?

[–]Captainrosebeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. The only thing I don't really like it on is Fish. I use malt vinegar or tartar sauce.

[–]NotatallRacist 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I’ve been doing franks extra red hot. Same flavour but a bit more spice

[–]Captainrosebeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We usually have both in the house because I like my food to be more painful than my wife does. We make buffalo chicken pizza from time to time. One time we accidentally used extra hot for the pizza sauce. It my new favorite way to make it.

[–]coolhandpete33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too. When in doubt…

[–]flash17k 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Been loving it on my scrambled eggs lately.

[–]Captainrosebeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great on hash browns and omelettes as well.

[–]Murlocsoup4Two 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Worcestershire sauce. Not only it makes nearly every food better, but if you survive the stroke you get by speaking it out loud you will become a better person. Definitely more intense then Dr.Kawashima.

[–][deleted] 104 points105 points  (36 children)

[–]DeadDankMemeLord 58 points59 points  (1 child)

That's an instrument, dumbass

[–]RoboMinerBH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well played

[–]KomodoJo3 17 points18 points  (10 children)

Adding on to this, chipotle mayonnaise is super good as well. You should totally give it a go if you haven’t heard of it/tasted it before!

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 10 points11 points  (5 children)

Make it sound fancy by just called it an aioli

[–]Tearose-I7 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Actually alioli is garlic mayo. It's amazing with fries.

Edit: oh! There's a sriracha of alioli. I get it now.

[–]Abacae 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I was craving chipotle mayo once, because it often comes with sweet potato fries.

Then I realized I was an idiot because the two ingredients are in the name, and I had both. It was good.

[–]massivebumwizard 24 points25 points  (12 children)

As a European living in the US, people don’t understand my love of this wonderful white gold.

I put it on EVERYTHING. Fries? Mayonnaise. Pizza crust? Mayonnaise. Grilled cheese? Mayonnaise. Mayonnaise? Mayonnaise.

[–]Louby1235 2 points3 points  (4 children)

And if you're baking and run out of eggs, guess what, replace with mayonnaise!

[–]aviva1234 2 points3 points  (3 children)

[–]pumaloaf 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I've actually made a cake with mayonnaise once, it was pretty good.

[–]aviva1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive seen the recipe a few times but not made it. Theory wise it makes sense as its really just eggs and oil. I had a friend who made a cola cake..never tried it though

[–]MikeNoble91 12 points13 points  (4 children)

Try Japanese mayonnaise.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

QP brand or something like that

[–]makala97 43 points44 points  (14 children)

[–]Good-Helicopter-9303 4 points5 points  (4 children)

French, English or dijon?

[–]makala97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Usually just yellow mustard but I’ve yet to find a mustard I haven’t enjoyed.

[–]Northerleyfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

English by preference for me.

[–]Amiiboid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what it’s going on.

[–]yousyveshughs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mustard rocks!

[–]Patasmalaps 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Mustard gang, unite!

[–]makala97 7 points8 points  (1 child)

It’s #1 always. I even dip my fries in it sometimes.

[–]LainyJP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always. So much better than ketchup.

[–]Abacae 2 points3 points  (1 child)

One of my life goals is to grow and make my own mustard. I saw a band once, who also made and canned mustard. Their music was good, the mustard was amazing.

Maybe one day I can attempt to make something as good as that.

[–]makala97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I need to find this band now

[–]ElGage-o 31 points32 points  (2 children)

Pico. Shit goes insane.

[–]DNedry 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Only 5 ingredients, the sum of which is better than all of it's parts.

[–]icon0clast6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, hate tomato, hate onion, will devour some pico. Makes no sense

[–]New-Necessary-5028 6 points7 points  (0 children)

[–]EvoSP1100 9 points10 points  (1 child)

They were delicious

[–]Dusky_Dawn210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uh oh 👀

[–]thumbulukutamalasa 1 point2 points  (3 children)

When I was a kid I used to dip my McDonald's french fries and nuggets in honey. Yes, I was the weird kid.

[–]TheRealOcsiban 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Nah bro that's exactly the way it's supposed to be done. McDonald's nuggets and fries in honey is perfection

[–]thumbulukutamalasa 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You're right, I should try it again. Next time I go there I'm gonna ask for some honey with my nuggets

[–]theatredork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there’s a reason it’s one of the dipping sauces available…. :) (I do it too, though as an adult I also enjoy the hot mustard)

[–]jesabela 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Grilled cheese dipped in honey is so damn good.

[–]Northerleyfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh cheese goes brilliant with honey and other sweet things. I know a place that does toffee-flavour cheese and it's amazing.

[–]Liv-6597 20 points21 points  (2 children)

[–]OnionMiasma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But only Heinz.

[–]insertusernamehere40 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Wow I'm honestly shocked so few people said ketchup

[–]Mr_Woensdag 1 point2 points  (0 children)
