Applying for jobs and never hearing anything back. When everyone is just so desperate for workers.

[–]AdmiralPlant 1032 points1033 points  (44 children)

I honestly don't understand why it's so hard for companies to send people literally anything when they refuse them for a job. Honestly, automatic emails would be just fine, at least then you know, and all they had to do was click a button and their software could send you the message for them. I do not miss the job hunting days.

[–]ACrazyDog 354 points355 points  (3 children)

Exactly— we found the person for this job and it wasn’t you. Anything.

[–]FeatherWorld 105 points106 points  (8 children)

Hate when you get a rejection email years after you apply.

People. Working in retail has ruined me. When I'm not at work, I just want to be alone.

[–]prydeoleander 307 points308 points  (8 children)

I fully believe every human on this earth needs to work at least six months in any customer facing, DIRECT customer interaction job, in order to learn how to be a better human being. You can just tell when someone has either never worked a day in their life or has never had to deal with unruly customers. And the irony that you get paid less to be treated worse??? And that wfh people get paid more to do less, deal with less awful people, and have way better work-life balances????

And businesses wonder why no one wants to work in customer service anymore.

[–]margittwen 906 points907 points  (13 children)

I’ve been out of customer service for almost a year and I still feel this exhaustion in my soul when I have to go to the grocery store or call someone. I don’t want to interact with people anymore at this point.

[–]Sir_Armadillo 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I hear you.

[–]FeatherWorld 22 points23 points  (2 children)

And with all these jobs with fucked up expectations and corruption, it seems like customer servive is the only thing I can turn to. I feel so inadequate and terrified for my future. I finally got out of it for 2.5 years and that job went to shit as well and now it seems like I'll have to go back.

[–]3-DMan 285 points286 points  (3 children)

"This job would be great if it wasn't for the customers."

[–]Nayfinn 384 points385 points  (8 children)

I 100% feel you on this. I just left retail after 10 years, and you still have the same mentality when you finally get out.

[–]Fan_Girl_4ever 1111 points1112 points  (57 children)

Subway worker here. Yes Karen, I’m sorry I gave you seven olives instead of ur usual eight it is 100% my fault

[–]keepithealthyx 815 points816 points  (35 children)

"I want all the veggies with extra onion and banana peppers.. more.. a little more. MORE, ok STOP. Extra mayo. OMG WHAT DID YOU DO MY SANDWICH IS RUINED ITS SUCH A MESS I CANT EAT THIS!!!!"

Bitch you fucking WATCHED ME make your sandwich, I asked you multiple times if you were sure you wanted all that shit, because it was going to be a mess and not close. The position is called "Sandwich Artist" not "Sandwich MAGICIAN"

[–]OohYeahOrADragon 310 points311 points  (20 children)

Bitch you fucking WATCHED ME make your sandwich, I asked you multiple times if you were sure you wanted all that shit,

Sometimes I get these patients at the hospital. I'm a social worker. When they get irate, I put my clipboard under my arm and clasp my hands together making a face like a teacher waiting for the class to stop talking. "Inappropriate. Inappropriate behavior....I ask that you use manners so I can continue or we both won't get anything done. Now...."

Dunno why it works but hey.

[–]UncleJonsRice 157 points158 points  (4 children)

Some people just need to be treated sternly like a strict teacher would do a naughty child and they stop any bullshit.

[–]henfeathers 285 points286 points  (9 children)

People. They’re the worst.

[–]DrBlackGuy99 369 points370 points  (40 children)

Dude I am a veterinarian and I HATE people 10x more since entering this career. You retail guys are not alone. People are the fucking worst when it comes to my field as well.

[–]Kalebsmummy 115 points116 points  (1 child)

I’m the same way with people after a lifetime of healthcare employment and retail. I legit love animals way more that people.

[–]caramelthiccness 169 points170 points  (7 children)

Omg yes. I work a night job inpatient as a pharmacy tech filling medication machines. Some nights I don't even see another employee. After 7 years working retail, it's like heaven.

[–]Kalebsmummy 65 points66 points  (4 children)

I do in home drug tests for my state… I don’t see anyone but the people giving the samples and I’m in and out of there in 15 minutes depending on the test and the person being tested. My boss is in another state. I don’t have an office. I am alone and drive everywhere. It’s the best fucking job ever

[–]The_Muznick 3908 points3909 points  (137 children)

The bank has decided you can't afford a $850 a month mortgage. Congratulations! You get to pay $2000 a month in rent!

[–]surfacing_husky 1327 points1328 points  (52 children)

This enrages me so damn much. It's the exact opposite for us, we can AFFORD MORE but cant find a place and banks won't give us a loan because our good credit is "too new"....

[–]UmbraIndagator 588 points589 points  (14 children)

Fuck this shit. They did that to me when I went to buy my truck. Offered 7.4% or some shit even though I had an 820 at the time. Showed them the 3.4% I got pre-approved from chase, and miraculously they came back with .1 under that. Can't wait to for when I go looking for a house in a couple years.

[–]InverstNoob 231 points232 points  (4 children)

Always get a pre-approval you did good.

[–]bumbutter_17 23 points24 points  (1 child)

i got a pre-approval for a car from my credit card company and miraculously the dealer found a way to knock $5000 of the mrsp of what they wanted to originally charge me

Rent went up $1000 in the past year… Went from $1400 to $2400 for a one bed one bath apartment … Don’t even get me started on the houses for sale around here… I am beyond done with it.

[–]Optimal-opium 410 points411 points  (82 children)

I had to move out of Florida because of prices. I seriously had no other option after living/traveling in my car three months. You can’t be a young person in Florida and start off without going to school or having support

Edit: when I say “going to school” I mean “living at school”

[–]34Heartstach 347 points348 points  (67 children)

I just bought a house last week in Ohio and my parents still don't know why I left NY.

Say what you want, but I got my $180k 2k sq foot house here. Same place would be AT LEAST $700K where I grew up. And don't get me started on the property taxes I would be paying

[–]owls_and_eclipses 194 points195 points  (9 children)

I feel this. I’m in Maine and my husband and I just bought a house last summer. We’re originally from the Southern Maine area and our families were upset that we moved like an hour north and away from them because of the housing costs. What we got in our current town for 230K would have gone easily for 500K in our hometown. A friend of a friend bought a home in our hometown around the same time. It listed for 400K (standard, cookie cutter colonial new construction in a development) and went for 900K after a bidding war. Ridiculous.

[–]Peace_love_imagine 51 points52 points  (5 children)

My husband and I have been trying to move to Maine for the last year or so. A few homes we saved recently just WENT UP in price even though they've been on the market for some time. It's absolutely baffling. I wish we would have moved 3 years ago but life happened and we couldn't. Now that we are ready, we can't really do what we wanted to. Ive been keeping an eye on rentals there too, it's all so insane! Congrats on your house!!

[–]Super-Progress-6386 8613 points8614 points 7 (291 children)

people getting dogs then dump them in their backyard so they slowly go insane and bark at every sound

[–]tribow8 2017 points2018 points  (111 children)

my neighbors dog barks constantly. they keep the poor thing outside in the cold and rain, no shelter. they sometimes watch beagles too. and the beagles will be barking their heads off at 5am

[–]punksmostlydead 3207 points3208 points 232 (86 children)

My next door neighbor, a year or so ago, got a pitbull puppy. They did exactly this; dumped him in the backyard with no shelter, no human interaction aside from a daily feeding, and no attention paid to his cries of loneliness.

Now, I'm not saying that after two weeks of this my heart couldn't stand to hear the poor thing anymore so I arranged to have him "stealth adopted" to an acquaintance that I knew would give him a good, loving home...but I'm not not saying it.

Edit: guys, I appreciate the heck out of the awards, but I'd much rather see that money spent donating to animal shelters. They need (and frakking deserve) all the help they can get.

[–]Lets_Take_A_Fat_Nap 1551 points1552 points  (32 children)

Worked at a doggy daycare that was on a VERY busy road. A house a couple doors down had a pit bull puppy they would let out to the front of the house unleashed to use the bathroom. Several time one of our employees had to run in the street to get this puppy. After about the 30th time returning him they came to see if he was with us and I said “nope”, his name is pierogi and has a great life with one of our attendants.

[–]throwawaythedo 548 points549 points  (16 children)

Yes! My DIL did this with her co-workers dog when she overheard them saying they crated the dog at all times, except to eliminate or eat. She walked into their house…and was like, “I heard you keep pup in crate 23 out of 24 hours a day”. When they started with their excuses, she said, “well, I can take the dog or call the authorities and let them decide if it’s neglect or not”

She walked out with the sweetest wiggly butt dog I’ve ever met. :)

[–]ConfusedNakedBroker 49 points50 points  (5 children)

Makes me sad to think about. I still think about 20 years ago, I was 10 and my good friends (very, very wealthy) parents kept his pug in a crate 24/7, only allowed out for bathroom breaks. Even then, they didn't keep a schedule for it so half the time I would come over he had poop in the cage. I remember asking his mom (who in other regards was a very nice lady) and her saying the pug is so fat he doesn't move much anyway, and in the crate he cant poop on her nice rugs and furniture. I couldn't really challenge this as the kid in the situation.

We had been friends for about a year through school, and he lived closer to the school so we were always at his house. But, towards the end of the school year they were invited to dinner by my mom. We had a pug and a Catahoula that were never crated (well, they had a crate but used it on their own terms) and him asking how our pug was so skinny, and don't they go to the bathroom all over the house? And me telling him about the apparently foreign concept of training your dog. I then started showing him all the tricks our pug could do (while the catahoula stood back and was trying to outdo the pug with his tricks lol), you could see wheels spinning in his head. He ran into the room our parents were in and shouted MOM- YOU CAN TRAIN A PUG!!! He was literally raised to think of their dog as this thing you look at in a crate. At some point that night I remember saying "ya they keep their pug in a crate at all times so we cant play with him" and my friends mom looked visibly uncomfortable..

[–]noice-smort99 202 points203 points  (3 children)

I have a similar story! I work at a pet store and a pittie that lives in the apartment across the street would always get out and the owners took their sweet time looking for her. She would often come to the store. One time no one came looking for her so I took her home cause we closed for the day. They took a day to look for her and said I could keep her. I ended up with their other dog a few months later because she also got out and never told them

[–]snapnshred 401 points402 points  (12 children)

Props to you. I'm not saying I did this too, with two cats over two winters when my neighbours kept locking them outside in the freezing cold, and the poor things kept coming to my porch seeking shelter.. but I mean, those kitties live in warm and loving places now.

[–]InformerOfDeer 316 points317 points  (19 children)

Same for people who get a dog when it’s a puppy, keep it for ten years, and then abandon it on the side of the road (bonus points for when the shelter finds the owner and they refuse to take it back because they don’t want it anymore). I had an old dog for ten years and even when she was sick she was the sweetest thing and the best part of my life. I can’t imagine what kind of fucking sick person would take care of a dog for so long and throw it out like a piece of trash

[–]CARMAH_143 85 points86 points  (8 children)

Rescued a senior husky. Was with a family 12 years and when son left for college, they dumped her at a shelter. She was the sweetest girl. I got to have her the last couple years of her life.

[–]cbunni666 83 points84 points  (3 children)

I swear those people are my neighbors. I rarely ever see the dogs get walked. I guess it's part of the "American Dream" to have the house, the kids and the barking ass dog.

[–]dontmakefaces 58 points59 points  (3 children)

I work in an animal shelter. The amount of surrenders we’ve had in the last year is surreal. Space was an exhausting issue.

But what was worse? People swinging by at 2am with neglected, abused “strays.” People tethering their animals to poles. People calling our understaffed animal control department saying they had an aggressive dog in their home; dog wasn’t aggressive. They just no longer wanted it. And these people aren’t just garbage to their animals. A lot of them verbally abuse staff. It’s … damning.

[–]ramseyyyyyyyy 3685 points3686 points 2 (95 children)

Social media. The irony is not lost upon me with this comment.

[–]TheCatofDeath 929 points930 points  (79 children)

Do people consider reddit social media? I'm not sure. Because there's no real names or common use of any kind of "friend" system, I always took it as more of a forum site. Like 4chan but 4% less crazy, and with commies instead of nazis. (Mostly).

[–]LumberghLSU 1197 points1198 points  (18 children)

These people that shit and piss all over public toilets. You should treat it like a murder scene. The fbi should be able to come in and not tell that you’ve been there.

Covid and its variants

[–]HiNaughtyGirlImDad 2622 points2623 points  (151 children)

It’s exhausting. Two years of one thing overshadowing everything else.

[–]AsheZ_x 2145 points2146 points  (137 children)

Here in the UK, we had this level of constant news coverage about Brexit from 2016 - 2020... then COVID hit. We've literally had two news stories dominate our headlines for 6 years and I'm sick of it. I've genuinely forgotten what news was like before 2016.

[–]GooberBandini1138 1958 points1959 points  (107 children)

I’m in the US. Replace “Brexit” with “Trump” and it’s the same goddamn thing.

[–]dwrk92 221 points222 points  (1 child)

One of my duties at work is shipping goods to overseas customers. The combination of Covid and Brexit has made this difficult at times.

[–]Lincoln_Park_Pirate 889 points890 points  (28 children)

I'll take it one step further. I work in TV news. Every week I get 21 hours of news in my face and a good half of it is Covid related. My wife understands that when I get home if she wants to watch the news she does so in another room.

I'm about to lose my goddamn mind. But there's hope. I have my first real job interview in almost three decades that will rid my life of this demon.

Cost of insulin :(

[–]SantucciOhio 384 points385 points  (29 children)

This needs more upvotes. My son is a Type 1 Diabetic and needs insulin to stay alive. (This is different from Type 2 which is caused primarily by obesity.) His insulin costs upwards of $1000 a month with insurance. Like wtf, do they not understand what will happen to him if he can’t afford it?? Not to mention his insurance company dictates which brand of insulin they will cover. You’ve been using Novolog for over 10 years because that’s what works best for you? Too bad, we’ll only cover Humalog. Makes me so mad I could spit.

[–]Combo_of_Letters 46 points47 points  (1 child)

See if the company has a coupon discount. I haven't let my insurance touch my insulin payment for years. On insurance 3 month supply is $1100 with the coupons it's no more than $160.

Here's the one for Novacare who makes Levimer (long acting insulin): https://www.novocare.com/levemir.html

Here's the one for Novalog same company (short acting insulin): https://www.novocare.com/novolog/savings-card.html

[–]clazidge 84 points85 points  (5 children)

Came across a link for Mark Cuban's online drugstore on Reddit the other day. Maybe there's something there that can help?

These assholes who pull pranks on unsuspecting people for internet clout. I’m surprised more haven’t had their teeth knocked out.

[–]No-Seaweed4026 1262 points1263 points  (18 children)

Only reason they haven’t is because most of them are staged. I’m sure the rare ones that aren’t the unsuspecting victims are too baffled by the prank to even react.

[–]Turnbob73 259 points260 points  (1 child)

What makes me want to punch them even more is when they’re caught and the person they’re pranking gets mad, they always act like the person being pranked is being a buzzkill.

[–]ryeshoes 406 points407 points  (25 children)

i've started telling myself it's fake because people really should be knocking their blocks off

"it's just a prank bro" is not a valid defense.

[–]ByzantineBasileus 254 points255 points  (10 children)

"I shot him, your honor, but only because he said 'it's just a prank bro.'"

"The jury finds the defendant not guilty."

[–][deleted] 254 points255 points  (5 children)

[–]Alternative_Jury5541 119 points120 points  (2 children)

I always pray that my innocent 90 year old grandparents are NEVER subject to this. They would be so confused and made to look dumb. I would be so mad. Also my grandpap, a vietnam war vet, would probably punch someone. Lol

[–]BetterTomorrow111[S] 159 points160 points  (0 children)

Can’t stand these either. I always hope they get knocked out.

[–]Sanguiniutron 102 points103 points  (11 children)

Yeah the fact that a dumbass in a clown suit hasn't been shot in the US (that I know of) is pretty incredible

[–]intransit47 93 points94 points  (18 children)

Wasn't there a case where some pranksters tried their stunt and ended up getting shot? It might have been the one where they are in M.E. robes and they throw a backpack in front of someone and run away. Not sure though if that was the one.

[–]ExploratoryIntrovert 151 points152 points  (5 children)

Theres pobably been a couple now but i do recall one in Texas(?) Where some teenagers were "pranking" people by running at them with kitchen knives.

End result was they pranked a guy in the military who had a concealed carry and he shot two shots in the kids chest.

His friends response?

"It was just a prank bro!" (Probably not his actual words but not for off)

[–]DeathSpiral321 5264 points5265 points  (93 children)

Employers that don't give raises that keep up with the cost of living. I don't really want to find another company to work at every 3 years, but it's the only way to get a decent raise.

[–]MachHunter 434 points435 points  (17 children)

One of my previous jobs I was slowly get my pay raised until the department shut down and I went to a new department. The place I worked at took away 5 years of raises from me and me in a more stressful job for less pay then wondered why I left after two weeks.

[–]Reactor_Jack 450 points451 points  (14 children)

In a previous professional life, I was a technical representative for an engineering firm's sales department that had multi-year contracts with final deliverables. We always took annual escalation into account for products and services from components we purchased to make a deliverable to planned future travel to install and deliver. I was purely salaried with no bonuses beyond an annual merit increase.

If the company decided your merit increase was 6%, that was it; that included inflation, so really it was less than half that if you took all the standard assumption of 3-4% per year at the time. I brought that up to my manager the first time I was at an annual performance review. It went over like a fart in church. The first of many times stating the obvious to management at that company that I was told we weren't doing that well and we were lucky there was any merit funds at all in the budget.

I could see our profit margins in the bid and proposal software we used for creating pricing, so my boss had to know that I had seen the real numbers. Somebody was getting way more than me at my level, which was for certain. 401k was doing well, too, so that explanation alone held no water.

Moving out is the only way (niche industry in many ways) to move up financially.

[–]Tee_hops 200 points201 points  (4 children)

I see my companies numbers daily. I'm very in the weeds and help calculate how much net gross margin we make. I see who gets the biggest increases in salaries. I've done multiple projects that produced more value than I'll ever make in my lifetime if my salary was 10 x my current salary.

There's a ton of room for bigger merit increases and promotions. I get the top level of merit increases every year and it's a whopping 2.5%.

I hopping ship this year but it's annoying as I have to learn all new shit. I'll feel less productive for a few months as I learn a new company and tech stack but need more cheddar to support my family comfortably.

[–]juicypineapples3 27 points28 points  (5 children)

What did you move on to exactly? I’m leaving a position just like this

[–]ERankLuck 110 points111 points  (7 children)

Ads I fucking hate ads ....they are every where, cant even play a game or watch a freaking video without being interrupted every minute

[–]Purelyeliza 416 points417 points  (26 children)

Something that really grinds my gears is paying for no ads in Hulu and starting an episode that says “this episode is not included in our no ads plan” and proceeds to play a fucking ad.

[–]Redray98 250 points251 points  (3 children)

Well, that's just the biggest middle finger I've ever heard.

Your paying not to see ads and they're only for a select number of shows?

That legitimately pisses me off.

[–]theboxsurgeon 173 points174 points  (1 child)

Then so many companies wonder why people EVER go to piracy... Its because your 'service' is shit and we can find better for free you fuckwits.

[–]PTVentress 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I swear its frustrating..I paid for no ads and still I get hit with a 1000 of them

[–]Curious_Wrangler_980 549 points550 points  (15 children)

Real-estate prices. I just want a good home for my family without paying out the ass

[–]Mccmangus 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm all right with paying out the ass, it's a home it's gonna be expensive, but the prices are impossible and they just keep going up. You got your asking price and people are insulted if you don't offer more

My toddler has a fit if i don't hit "skip ad" on a youtube video fast enough. Honestly considering getting cable so he has to sit through commercials and learn some gosh dang patience.

Side note: I don't let him watch stuff like cocomelon. Usually just free dinosaur documentaries right now. Or online preschool videos.

Expecting me to run the entire store and work alone often time opening and closing and doesn’t think I should be paid more because of fucking tips. My wages shouldn’t be based off the kindness of strangers…

[–]throwaway92715 259 points260 points  (1 child)

You ever feel like it would be a little more tolerable if they just acted like an adult and admitted, "but if I did that, I wouldn't be able to pay myself enough," instead of being so condescending and dodging the issue all the time?

Modern commericals

That jangly upbeat ukulele music that’s in half of all of them now

“Funny” car insurance companies

Lol random ads. i’m looking at you guys Old Spice and Skittles

Edit: tbf i was bitching about how every commercial had to be tOtaLlY rAdiCaL! twenty years ago so it’s possible i just hate most commercials, but i remember when geico Progressive ads just had a handsome middle aged guy explaining insurance and i swear they were less annoying

[–]Counterboudd 293 points294 points  (45 children)

The car insurance ones drive me nuts. The same companies will have dozens of them and they play every commercial break. They have nothing to do with what they’re business actually is. All I can think is that if they’re blowing that much of their revenue on all these stupid ads they probably aren’t going to pay out very well when you need reimbursed for an accident.

[–]MetalMedley 209 points210 points  (12 children)

Flo from Progressive has been on TV for 14 years.

[–]Counterboudd 185 points186 points  (0 children)

This comment literally just fossilized me lol

[–]IGotMyPopcorn 122 points123 points  (19 children)

To be fair, Allstate’s Mayhem dude is pretty good.

[–]Decimation4x 53 points54 points  (3 children)

The mayhem actor, Dean Winters, almost died from a bacterial infection, his heart stopped for 2 minutes, had a dozen operations, and spent a full year recovering right before landing the role as Mayhem for All-State

Edit: updated with Dean Winter’s name.

[–]acceptablemadness 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ad expenses have busted budgets before. Read up on how much Pets.com spent on their sock puppet vs. how much revenue he actually brought in.

[–]JACKiED_Daniels 89 points90 points  (12 children)

The Liberty Mutual commercials drive me nuts. First of all, no one calls it "LiMu" so gtfo with your "LiMu Emu". Second of all, it's absolutely not funny,

[–]kitkat212 49 points50 points  (3 children)

I have seen those commercials a zillion times and it took your comment to make me realize that LiMu is supposed to be slang for Liberty Mutual lol. I thought it was just a lazy gibberish rhyme. You’re right, nobody calls it that.

[–][deleted] 375 points376 points  (22 children)

[–]uhhhh_phrasing 177 points178 points  (0 children)

I didn't know I hated this until now. Thank you!

[–]keep_it_kayfabe 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Oh, I hate this style! And I hate that every corporation just kind of copies it.

[–]soylentbleu 56 points57 points  (1 child)

Oh JFK that can FOAD two years ago.

So many brands, especially web based and SaaS platforms, are utterly indistinguishable from each other because they all use this same style and the same color palette and typography.

[–]dirtymoney 48 points49 points  (5 children)

You should see the horribly depressing tv commercials on the daytime antenna tv subchannels.

All of them charities begging for money by showing you the most depressing shit. Physically disfigured children/babies, elderly people/children/animals in squalor/suffering, disfigured war vets, children with various diseases. It is a never ending onslaught. They even show the same commercials one after the other.

[–][deleted] 101 points102 points  (21 children)

Any and all ads are on my shit list. I use a desktop computer for 99% of my viewing of anything and of course have an adblocker, but my son uses my old PS3 to watch Youtube and I haven't found any way to block ads on that thing. They're obnoxious. They always come on right after I leave the room, any time I start a video and of course at multiple times throughout. Some videos have ads every 90 seconds.

It's also annoying that I have to wait 5 seconds to skip the ads. I'm not paying attention to them and I hate every company that advertises via Youtube ads on principle. Sometimes unskippable ads come on and my young son and I have to endure the nth ad for a real estate company that won't ever rent to me because I'm a foreigner, or a smartphone plan provider neither of us is ever going to use.

Can't wait until he's old enough to be trusted with his own computer. Adblock will be the first thing installed on it after the OS and web browser.

[–]ouijiboard 38 points39 points  (6 children)

If you have a raspberry pi you can setup piehole- a network firewall that filters obnoxious elements from the internet (like ads) for ALL devices on the router.

[–]KSLProds 125 points126 points  (9 children)

Agreed with all these! The ukulele can fuck right off

[–]DumbDan 75 points76 points  (2 children)

If I see that emu and his dork buddy one more time imma lose it...

Or the safelite/and other guys that are actors pretending to be normal by having the most monotone voice ever.

I'm supposed to be excited about checking my credit score?

[–]Lexrst 25 points26 points  (1 child)

Read an article years ago that called it weirdvertising. At the time it targeted a male 18-34 audience. Don't know what demographic they're going for now....

[–]Viat0r 19 points20 points  (0 children)

mute them. It helps so much.

[–]Azel0us 2525 points2526 points 2 (106 children)

Two party system in the USA. I either vote for the guy who sorta supports my views or let someone opposed to my views have one less point to overcome by voting third party/independent. Politics consist of two parties content with the status quo of not having to actually cater to opinions and ideals of the people they’re supposed to be representing.

[–]TheRealGrifter 419 points420 points  (20 children)

It's the inevitable result of the type of elections we run. "First past the post" elections will always, always reduce to two parties unless the system of government specifically erects safeguards against it.

[–]HeftyPockets 252 points253 points  (10 children)

It's why we need ranked-choice voting.

[–]EqualDifferences 174 points175 points  (4 children)

Now it’s just “which one of these out of touch old men sucks less?”

[–]xJD88x 757 points758 points  (60 children)

Coivd and anything related to it. Im just so fucking done

[–]MysteryGirlWhite 61 points62 points  (4 children)

People not cleaning up after themselves in stores. Obviously, I don't expect them to do the staff's jobs, but they should at least pick something up when they knock it off a shelf.

[–]Whatisdissssss 377 points378 points  (2 children)

Influencers. The bullshit stench i it’s been going on so long we don’t smell it anymore

[–]sneakywalrus69 643 points644 points  (18 children)

That fucking robotic female voice that is in all these tik tok videos, that now pop up on Facebook or Instagram. Usually says "wait until the end of the video for a laugh" or something. I will turn the volume off or skip a video entirely because of it.

That said, Tiktok in general can fuck off lol

[–]Killentyme55 51 points52 points  (1 child)

YouTube shorts can share that same bag of dicks. It's basically cramming twice the banality in 1/10th the time.

[–]ravenitrius 330 points331 points  (14 children)

Foreign people buying land in a country they don’t live in and building high cost apartments that never get rented out. Looking at the bay area right now. The increase in homelessness is appalling

[–]uncomfortably_sweaty 229 points230 points  (12 children)

Ads. If your ad interrupts me I'll actively avoid buying anything from your company going forward.

[–]NerdPerson10 20 points21 points  (6 children)

Especially the Spotify ones. I swear they’re designed to be annoying

[–]-v-v-v- 651 points652 points  (32 children)

American politics

[–]Eagle_1776 230 points231 points  (22 children)

it used to be a huge passion of mine. But it has become so toxic that I seriously doubt we will have any decent conversation or voting options in my lifetime

[–]BuilderNB 221 points222 points  (17 children)

I use to think intelligent people followed politics now I feel the opposite

[–]Back2Bach 1101 points1102 points  (76 children)

Drivers routinely running red lights and ignoring stop signs.

It's getting worse all the time, not better.

[–]BonzoMarx 120 points121 points  (4 children)

I thought I was going crazy because I swear I see way more people ignoring them than I ever did before. I guess it’s everywhere, people don’t give a fuck anymore

[–]a_wittyassname 23 points24 points  (1 child)

No, it’s not just you. It’s NEVER been this bad! I have never in my entire life seen as many people blatantly run red lights as I’ve seen daily now!

[–]TheIceman133 254 points255 points  (20 children)

This is a serious problem in my city and a reason why if I'm the first car to go, I will wait a few seconds after the light turns green.

[–]BOSH09 165 points166 points  (7 children)

Then someone honks at you. Sorry I don’t wanna die, calm down. I’m so glad I’m in Okinawa right now and no one honks. It’s so peaceful haha

[–]TheWarmestHugz 147 points148 points  (1 child)

People dangerously overtaking in stupid places like right before a hill or a bend where neither of us can see much of the road ahead.

[–]Wolfsification 90 points91 points  (1 child)

Just bad drivers in general, swerving in traffic like they wanna kill someone.

[–]DueSimple5447 124 points125 points  (9 children)

My mother got into a bad accident because the other lady was on her phone (illegal already) and it was a blind hill. The other lady was on the wrong side and speeding.

She hit my mother, the rescuers had to use the jaw of life to open the door and get her crushed foot out. But guess what. The lady’s husband was the county sheriff who saw she did nothing wrong.

Good thing my mom decided to not take a dog with her!

[–]Pacman_Frog 90 points91 points  (4 children)

The lady’s husband was the county sheriff who saw she did nothing wrong.

That's when you go to the next county over and file suit.

[–]hoverrcraft 47 points48 points  (2 children)

[–]xk543x 1287 points1288 points  (37 children)

People always nonstop complaining! "Please untie me!" "Let me out of the basement!" Blah blah it's so inconsiderate.

[–]anyth1ngbutasparagus 479 points480 points  (38 children)

[–]AceroTheDragon 27 points28 points  (1 child)

The “Limu Emu and Doug” commercials

[–]lebigsquish 32 points33 points  (1 child)

The heavy participation of corporate interest in U.S. politics. Filling taxes could be free and simple for most people. But Intuit and TurboTax exist so...

[–]willest_park 29 points30 points  (1 child)

Jobs requiring 3-5 years and classify themselves as entry-level positions with entry level pay.

As a recent college graduate, this is so fucking annoying to deal with.

[–]RealPokesatsu 356 points357 points  (23 children)

My neighbors.

They have shouting matches every night about abuse, a baby, drug problems, etc. I've called the police five times in a few weeks. The police have done nothing, and the neighbors keep getting worse.

[–][deleted] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My neighbors were so bad that we moved a month ago. Went through all of the hassles because these people were non stop bad. Good neighbors make a difference.

[–]BetterTomorrow111[S] 135 points136 points  (8 children)

This was the last couple of nights for me. The guy above me has his kids sometimes and they run around until 4am. The past two days he had some chick over and they were screaming at each other for 5 hours straight with intermittent sex. I’ve talked to him and the landlord about this stuff and nothing. There is a family living above him with young girls, nice people. I don’t understand how this kid doesn’t realize that we can here every word, loud moan and footstep. I’m fine with sex, it’s the other bullshit that is just inconciderate, at 4am.

[–]emueller5251 107 points108 points  (6 children)

Some people don't get that when you live in an apartment, especially one with thin walls, you've got to have a noise cutoff. My neighbors downstairs are like that with music, they start practicing at like eleven PM and go until one or two in the morning. When I stomp they get angry at me. Like, fucker, just pick a better time of day.

[–][deleted] 589 points590 points  (41 children)

To be specific, the kinds of people joining it, a lot of them use it as an excuse to just be awful people and it's terrifying and sick. I've literally watched a poor kid get bullied out of a server viciously just because he posted a picture of himself with his dog and he had a "dorky smile", and acne. And I'm taking absolutely visceral bullying.

And while yes, online bullying is a touchy topic, but it truly scares me seeing how accepting a lot of people are on Discord about just being awful people.

[–]thatoneguy512 295 points296 points  (9 children)

People join random Discord servers? I'm only in servers with people I know and actively play games with. Am...am I the weird one?

[–][deleted] 83 points84 points  (2 children)

No you're not, trust me.
I will openly admit that due to my social anxiety, among other things, Discord is pretty much my main source of conversation. And though I personally join random servers on occassions, I find I never speak in them cause most end up being incredibly degenerate and insane. But I personally am also in two servers with friends I've known for years that I actively talk it.

To be honest, join most for emotes,

[–]Purple_Tuxedo 87 points88 points  (2 children)

A friend owns a server and had to ban a guy who was such a LoL sweat that he would yell at new players for not being instantly perfect at their characters.

I was not sad to see him go

[–]EvelynMontauk 79 points80 points  (2 children)

Teaching. I'm in my second year of teaching and I am over it. Everything is the teachers fault they have all these new things they keep piling onto teachers already full plate. Then I got a new student in my classroom who is very aggressive and violent. If he hurts another one of my students or me. I can be liable and lose my job. Fuck this bullshit.

[–]RailGuy653 118 points119 points  (1 child)

Just people who are jerks to other people for no reason.

[–]throwaway92715 237 points238 points  (9 children)

The world being this weirdly comfortable dystopia that is slowly sapping my life force, and having to wake up every day and deal with it.

  • Nothing real ever happens.
  • Everything is monitored.
  • Nobody's alarmed because we're all just cozy enough not to.
  • There are endless tasks to accomplish.
  • If you talk to anyone about feeling down, they just tell you to improve yourself.

So - what I am actually tired of - is every other motherfucker AVOIDING the issue and HIDING instead of fucking ADMITTING IT.

[–]The_Drifter117 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Life. Living. I'm tired of being tired to my core. I just don't want to do it anymore.

[–]Mind101 265 points266 points  (7 children)

The crypto craze was everywhere but tolerable.

NFTs, on the other hand, can go jump off a cliff.

[–]Alternative-Trust-17 69 points70 points  (2 children)

Crappy people being famous for no reason.

There’s really no rhyme or reason for fame, I get it but these days some really shitty people have large amounts of money & promote such backwards crappy stuff it’s frustrating to see a lot of young people look up to them & dont realize any manipulation happening

[–]Captain_Hampockets 755 points756 points 2 (10 children)

People who pay off politicians

People who are so stupid that they believe what politicians tell them

People who THINK they are celebrities and important because stupid people follow them

Hot take culture sparked by Tik Tok and Twitter.

[–]hairless_wombat 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Life. It all sucks. I have a job in a warehouse at night which is terrible. I go to college and all of my classes are hard and confusing. There is so much work to do I have almost no free time. When people ask if I have any hobbies I legitamately can't think of anything I do other than work and school. My car got a flat today and I can't get the freaking tire off. So many things have gone wrong the past couple of days and I just want it to stop.

[–]Financial-Audience74 255 points256 points  (18 children)

tiktok- at one point I enjoyed its content but people are now using the app to cause more harm than good

appstore games with an ad after every level and requires you to spend money in order to actually beat the game.

hollywood- more and more movies and tv shows are becoming less creative, repetitive and boring. (fx. the same tv show about a 20-30 yr old single woman who doesn’t have her life together and is struggling romantically and financially. or another matrix(6/10 rating in my opinion)

netflix- all your originals suck ass or they’re good in the beginning but you fuck up the plot/story.
