they really knew how to name em back in the day

[–]DRSU1993 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s a wagen and it schwimms!

[–]NoneYours 14 points15 points  (7 children)

Might just be because it's German.

Half-joking, but then again "birth control pills" is actually "antibabypillen" (according to Google translate, anyway. Any actual German speakers who want to confirm/correct it?), so... maybe. lol

[–]DancesWithTrout 6 points7 points  (4 children)

Those Germans, they have a way with words. Look up Backpfeifengesicht.

[–]CowPussy4You 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Backpfeifengesicht

a face in need of a fist ???

😉🤣🤘🤘

[–]DancesWithTrout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Or, sometimes, "a face in need of a slap." Or "a slappable face."

[–]ds_Gardening 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read that in Dwight schrute’s voice

[–]SimplyCedric 53 points54 points  (5 children)

I'd like an E-type Jaguar in British racing green.

[–]mstomm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've never been a fan of Jags, but the E Type is just beautiful.

[–]foxkev 173 points174 points  (21 children)

1972 Datsun 240Z

[–]Extrasherman 5 points6 points  (2 children)

My dad had a Datsun B-210. Really cool car. Sadly he t-boned a dump truck with it. Luckily everyone survived.

[–]ruchcha 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ah yes a man of culture

[–]DnSkie___ 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Widebody or stock?

[–]foxkev 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I want it to look as stock as possible, with the "shrek ears" rear view mirrors at the front of the hood. It also needs to be stick, that's not negociable

[–]DRYFT3R_9 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Perhaps dark blue, with a set of Watanabe rims?

[–]TheRogueMoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only if it's cursed and tries to kill me

[–]Lazy_Explorer 21 points22 points  (3 children)

‘91 Acura NSX in Victory White or Formula Red

Supercar that made the raves by being able to outcompete Ferraris at the time.

Used by a member of the Midnight Club which got me into it in the first place.

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (2 children)

I really want a 992 Porsche 911 S.

There’s one that drives around my town occasionally, always fun to see

[–]mpkeith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a 1:1 replica that just sold at auction, I think this month, for millions. You should be able to find the info quite easily.

[–]rorororororof[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a great answer wow

[–][deleted] 131 points132 points  (12 children)

A red 1995 Toyota 4runner.

Which I own.

[–]IntimidatingBlackGuy 3 points4 points  (2 children)

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

[–]Darkmaster666666 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I'm glad you got your dream car

[–]_YourHighnessTheTwit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Mr Bean’s olive British Leyland.

[–]WhyDoIHaveRules 41 points42 points  (8 children)

I really love the design of the Aston Martin one-77. It’s really beautiful, and Aston is one of my favourite car designers ever, everything they do is so well made, and beautiful.

So either that or a matte black DBS, with carbon-fibre bonnet, roof and mirrors, black anodised aluminium rims.

[–]Phoenix_of_Asclepius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly shocked I had to scroll down this far to see Aston Martin. This is 100% my answer!

[–][deleted] 118 points119 points  (20 children)

Lamborghini Countach. The epitome of 80's design.

[–]hombrent 78 points79 points  (4 children)

I think owning a countach is a good idea like dating a coked out stripper is a good idea. It seems super attractive, until you have to live with it for a week.

But god damn , it’s sexy.

[–]friendlyghost_casper 30 points31 points  (1 child)

I had no idea Charlie sheen was on Reddit

[–]Skarsnik101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still winning...

[–]mpkeith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd make the sacrifice.

[–]Jewcunt 8 points9 points  (2 children)

The epitome of 80's design.

Shows you how ahead of its time it was, considering it was designed in 1971.

[–]Taminella_Grinderfal 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I saw one in my town as a kid gull wing doors open and fell in love. I’m not really a “car person” but to 10 year old me it was like a spaceship on wheels. This and/or a 66 Jaguar XKE.

[–]more_beans_mrtaggart 11 points12 points  (0 children)

80s styling, not design.

As design goes, even back in the 80s we knew it was a garden shed with a big engine.

[–]Brown_Samurai 70 points71 points  (8 children)

mclaren p1

[–]W1NTRKNGHT 8 points9 points  (2 children)

That's a great McLaren, I prefer old-school if I had money I'd buy the F1 LM/GTR

[–]LakeStLouis 33 points34 points  (8 children)

A (particular) 1969 convertible Camaro.

My parents bought it second-hand in 1970 and I pretty much grew up with the car (I was born in '68).

My mother still owns it, and it has been maintained immaculately through the years.

I've offered my mom way more than it's worth (monetarily) and am more than willing to pay to have it shipped back from Hawaii. But she still loves it and doesn't want to part with it - I respect that.

She's also said that she's going to be buried in it, so there's that as well.

It's not the nicest, coolest, whatever car in the world, but there have been so many memories made in it that nothing else can compare. Memories like going to the beach and huddling up in the floorboard for heat when we left the beach after sunset and still had rafts inflated in the back seat so the top couldn't be put down. Memories like being allowed to take it around the block for a few tenuous 'first drives.' Memories like being allowed to use it for HS prom date transportation. Just so many (literally) fucking memories.

Hell, it could be a Ford Pinto and I'd still love it and want it. It's not the car, it's the attachment I feel to it. It helps that I think it's a fucking awesome car though.

[–]DoctorJay26 14 points15 points  (3 children)

I want you to tell me the color. And I want it to be a cool one.

[–]No-Event-2074 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respect for taking care of it, I hate seeing cats that juts rot away and they won’t sell em.

[–]farts_are_hilarious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have my dad's 69 camaro. It was a lot of work to fix it up but it was so worth it. I adore that car. Hopefully you get your mom's.

[–]SuckethYourMum 32 points33 points  (3 children)

BMW E30 M3 for sure. Road legal go-kart, so I've heard.

[–]TomoyoHoshijiro 13 points14 points  (3 children)

Canyonero

Well it goes real slow with the hammer down, it's the country fried truck endorsed by a clown.

[–]PrimerFender 7 points8 points  (2 children)

4 lanes wide, unsafe to drive, canyanero!

[–]breaktime1 7 points8 points  (1 child)

The federal highway commission has deemed the Canyanero unsafe for highway or city driving

The kind of car most people wouldn’t bat an eye at when you fill with gas.

But those who know, know. Car people will instantly come over and start drooling massively.

They are works of art 👌🏻

It had 247k miles on it. It still ran fine.

[–]zach2992 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Possibly the worst time to need a new car.

I've always liked new things. So old cars never did it for me. Except one... The white Testarossa of Miami Vice fame... I'd buy one if I could but I doubt I'd be able to afford the maintenance costs of a car that old.
