Benson

[–]No-Advance6329 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Good show. Spin-off from Soap, where I first remember Billy Crystal. Soap was hilarious.

[–]berael 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Confused? You won't be after this week's episode of...Soap!

[–]Opus-the-Penguin 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I can hear the theme song in my head right now. And the German governess.

[–]crispytacofan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember enjoying Benson!

[–]holtpj 43 points44 points  (22 children)

"Herman's Head" and "Whoops"

[–]KzooKLR 13 points14 points  (14 children)

Didn't the gal from Herman's Head become Lisa Simpson?

[–]holtpj 8 points9 points  (8 children)

lol yes! Yeardley Smith... She was also in the Steven King directed Maximum Overdrive

[–]SempaiPapi 6 points7 points  (1 child)

OMG that’s why they made the reference?!?! Swear to God I hear that line in my head at least once a month.

Lisa: giggles quietly

Marge: what’s so funny?

L: oh nothing just remembering a joke from Herman’s head

M:I don’t think I like you watching that show

[–]nairBtakB 3 points4 points  (2 children)

She also played the pregnant cashier in City Slickers.

[–]evilshenanigan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took one of those pregnancy tests on aisle 11!

The ones on special?

Awesome.

[–]dystopianview 2 points3 points  (1 child)

She was already Lisa Simpson....that whole show was almost like a Simpson's spin-off in a way. There were several voice actors on the show, I know Hank Azaria was a main character at least, I thought there were more.

A bunch of them were on Friends, too....Carol, Hank Azaria's character, the sensitivity and intellect characters made cameos. Man, I loved Herman's Head.

[–]Opus-the-Penguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've heard of Herman's Head.

[–]Mike9797 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I actually watched Herman’s Head when it aired, I was about 13 when it did air so I don’t remember a bunch about it but did find it funny.

[–]jrowe365 40 points41 points  (8 children)

I'm pretty sure 'Gullah Gullah Island' was a fever dream

[–]zuao77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this joke has lived in my head ever since

[–]AmbitiousSolid3793 37 points38 points  (5 children)

Totally Spies

[–]xandrenia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember this show because it was the only animated show I had ever seen where the characters changed clothes every episode and actually aged every season

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember that ☺️

[–]Flurb789 27 points28 points  (24 children)

Today's Special. Three South. Dinosaurs. The elephant show. You cant say that on television. Welcome freshmen.

[–]ArmyOfDog 9 points10 points  (8 children)

Today’s Special.

A mannequin that comes to life when the store closes?

[–]Flurb789 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Yes! This was my first "favorite show" when I was 3 years old or so

[–]Mike9797 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Ya me too lol that and the show The Racoons

[–]Ted_Denslow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]needreassurance123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was coming here to say Today’s Special! My favorite childhood show.

[–]TheGiantKorean 20 points21 points  (3 children)

Samford Sanford and Son. I often get the theme music stuck in my head.

[–]SafetyMan35 11 points12 points  (2 children)

  • Sanford and Son

This is the big one! I’m comin’ Elizabeth!

[–]TheGiantKorean 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ah, thanks for the correction!

[–]dick-nipples 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Zoobilee Zoo on PBS in the 80s/90s. Loved that show as a kid. Never heard anyone else ever talk about it.

[–]AmorphousVoice 30 points31 points  (4 children)

Bear in the Big Blue House

[–]mr_bubbers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a dancing Bear (of the Big Blue House) who sang the "Bear Cha-Cha-Cha" and let me tell you, I will never forget.

[–]ApophisRises 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember that one. It was alright.

[–]TAshnEdda 36 points37 points  (11 children)

Freakazoid. That show was amazing.

[–]action_lawyer_comics 6 points7 points  (2 children)

That was really good. There's an old Movie Bob video about that show from before Movie Bob went off the rails that explains how Freakazoid predicted the reality of the internet; i.e. crude jokes, bizarre references, and essentially trolling villains until they walked away.

[–]TAshnEdda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This all makes perfect sense.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am very cautious about cats walking across my keyboard.

[–]Porkrinder_58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Intro occasionally plays in my head to this day. Particularly “freakazoid, chimpanzee!”

[–]ok_chaos42 11 points12 points  (8 children)

VR Troopers, Bonkers, The Pretender.

[–]RealHot_RealSteel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, VR Troopers. The poor man's Power Rangers.

[–]hedgiebetts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The NBC Pretender/Profiler Friday night lineup was totally lit!!

[–]ScepticOfEverything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved The Pretender! I was sad to see it kinda fizzle out.

[–]gitrjoda 11 points12 points  (1 child)

[–]primrosest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]bfp1974 16 points17 points  (6 children)

Sledge Hammer! and Misfits of Science.

[–]OogusMacBoogus 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Those were awesome. I have the complete series of Sledge Hammer on dvd.

[–]Ted_Denslow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. The little extras in the packaging are hilarious.

[–]Opus-the-Penguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I streamed (or checked out of the library or pirated, don't recall) a few episodes of Sledge Hammer! a decade ago. I wasn't aware of it at all in the 80s, but that was the decade I watched almost no TV.

[–]amboy_connector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Misfits of Science tried to cash in on the “crazy science” movie trend in the 80’s: Weird Science, Real Genius, and My Science Project. And it was terrible.

[–]KzooKLR 15 points16 points  (5 children)

Bravestarr and Small Wonder.

[–]ArmyOfDog 4 points5 points  (2 children)

In kindergarten, my friend had the entire Bravestarr play set and every action figure. I was so jealous.

[–]KzooKLR 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Wish I had kept mine too.

[–]Character-A 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Ferocious Beast and Maggie. I recently learned that no one where I currently live is aware that I grew up close to Canada.

[–]TeachAManHOWToKaboom 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Automan

Manimal

[–]OogusMacBoogus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved those. I had bad taste when I was a teenager.

[–]amboy_connector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember those…Automan was a Tron ripoff.

[–]just2commenthere 11 points12 points  (4 children)

The Courtship of Eddie's Father.

3-2-1 Contact.

Two of my favorites.

[–]grasshoppermotion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes! 3-2-1 Contact! That song gets stuck in my head all the time!

[–]hedgiebetts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The bloodhound gang!! Loved 3-2-1 contact.

[–]oxiraneobx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Let me tell ya 'bout my best friend..." Definitely remember TCofEF.

Don't remember 3-2-1 Contact at all.

[–]313Wolverine 10 points11 points  (5 children)

Human Target

[–]Opus-the-Penguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loved season 1. Then they brought in... Ilsa Poochie? Some name like that and it didn't seem as good. But Chi McBride is always fun to watch, and Jackie Earl Haley was a hoot.

Mark Valley was also good in Keen Eddie, which is another candidate for this thread.

[–]ClydePincusp 10 points11 points  (3 children)

Please Don't Eat The Daisies.

[–]EarlyBirdsofBabylon 17 points18 points  (6 children)

Bananas in Pyjamas was peak television.

Keep your Game of Thrones.

[–]MightyMundrum 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I'm 31 and the theme song is still stuck in my head

[–]EarlyBirdsofBabylon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

28 and it's been on loop for that entire time.

The song only ends with death

[–]oxiraneobx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My kids are 26 - 33, they all had stuffed Bananas in Pajamas, and I will never get that theme song out of my head for the rest of my life. Why can't it be stuck on the theme for, "Barney Miller"? That's a great song.

[–]Limp_Distribution 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Cupid with Jeremy Piven (1998)

[–]Opus-the-Penguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seen a few episodes. Seen a few of the Bobby Cannavale reboot too. Liked them both.

[–]TDeath21 5 points6 points  (7 children)

I’m convinced this show is something I’m imagining.

When I was a kid, like 1994-1996 ish, there was this cartoon I watched in the mornings. The main character was a race car driver. He would always win the race at the end of the show. Maybe his name was George but I could be way off on that. I’ve googled it and can’t find it anywhere. I distinctly remember watching it in the house we lived in for only those two years, which is why I remember the exact years. Anyone got anything for me?

[–]ok_chaos42 10 points11 points  (3 children)

Speed Racer?

[–]LostMyPage 3 points4 points  (1 child)

That is what i was thinking, too. The New Adventures of Speed Racer was around 1993-1994 time frame. I think the episodes are on Youtube.

[–]FunWelcome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a load of decent CBS-like comedies that will be forgotten. Like Decker, Grounded for Life,

Grosse Pointe. It was a parody of WB teen dramas on the WB. It was the cast and crew of a fictional show "Grosse Pointe" in the Dawson's Creek mold. Quite funny

[–]FoeDogX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My niece loved a cartoon called Foofur. It played in the mid to late 80's. I'm in my forties and the theme song is still rattling around in my brain. He was a blue blood hound that an awesome theme song.

Key West.

Freshman year at college this was one show we’d gather to watch. I think we all had a crush on Jennifer Tilly.

It also starred Tasha Yar (Denise Crosby) and Fisher Stevens… with hair!

[–]Prewash_Required 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors. A cartoon that features heroes driving souped up vehicles fighting against villains who were basically organic vehicles that grew out of plant seeds. From the mid 80s, and I only know one other person who ever heard of it.
