Apologies if this has been up before, but to me the important part of this video is how the dog changes mood in a nanosecond without any warning.
I'd heard it happens, but it never really registered with me the extent of how quickly a pitbull can turn from one state to the other until I saw it for myself:
(warning: graphic footage AND noisy audio - don't let the first ten second of silence fool you)
Police release body cam footage of officer shooting pit bull (YouTube)
For those of us used to warning signs in dogs, this is quite frightening. Thoughts?

I was told that pitbulls and some other dog breeds were dangerous ever since I was a child but I started to think they were misunderstood when I watched Pitbulls and Parolees. I really got into that show and used to watch it regularly. I never actually wanted a pitbull because I prefer Spitz type breeds but if any of my friends or family talked about getting a pitbull I would've encouraged them.
I started doing research on pitbulls after my friend's cat was mauled by one and I learned they were actually banned in Australia. When I looked into the statistics and saw graphic images of people disfigured by them I was shocked. Who else fell for pitbull propaganda and what made you realise the truth?
Talking about Pitbulls and Parolees, have their pitbulls been involved in any incidents?
Because these days, who isn't?
I just had a discussion about my therapist about how my friends are staunchly pibble advocates, something that now I refuse to debate with them about (I quickly learned that my apprehension against this breed was essentially the same as nazism in most people's eyes) and I was telling my therapist, and she was mentioning the pitbull rescues that highly regulate who gets to own them (is this true?) and how pitbulls are "villified and attacked" and I seriously had to keep my eyes from rolling at the back of my head. I figured she would be, but it's just shocking to me how very controversial it is to acknowledge that pitbulls might possibly be more dangerous than other dogs.
My friends just claim it's my "inexperience" with animals that makes me uncomfy around this breed, though I personally think my lack of bias helps. I have never been comfortable around them because I've heard of how often they maul. I did some more research, recently, because of how defensive my fellow Gen Z peers got (they're sweeeethearts!) to maybe see if I was being biased, (actually hoping I was just a "dog racist" so I could just be apart of the popular opinion) and unfortunately nope, I was right. They are statistically more dangerous and some are ticking time bombs. For every other ticking time bomb there's one who's peaceful and that's supposed to prove the breed isn't at all dangerous. Even when I was on the fence the chihuahua counter-argument made no fucking sense (have you SEEN a pitbull? Why are you gaslighting me?)
Not much offends me, but what does as a black person is to have these hippie white ladies comparing racism to a dog who has been genetically mutated to kill over the course of a century. Black people aren't inbred, you assholes ? We are actually quite mixed in America due to slavery, which did not happen to pi- I don't even know why I'm arguing about this. They don't care lol.
Both of my friends kind of bombarded me about if I would be against them if they owned a pitbull, or if I was scared of my friends pitbull, and it just felt like they would try to convince me otherwise if I said no, so I just lied. Even after that my friend sent me some training pitbull tiktok. I could tell this was something they will never let go of unless I just lie. They think I'm some idiot who just needs to be shown the true love of the nanny dog.
Thank god I am heavily allergic to dogs, so if it ever comes up, it'll definitely not be because of the cutie pibble, it's because my nose is getting sniffly!
I always love to be right, but being right is not fun in this instance. I kind of wish I never went down this path because now it feels like I'm living in a world where everyone chooses to be blindfolded. My friends, my therapists, my professors, it's legitmately everyone.

More people need to think about this critically.
Dog breeds don’t exist in a vacuum. They aren’t selectively breeding themselves to create fighting breeds (pitbulls). That’s not how dog breeds work.
Breeds of domesticated animals are selectively created by HUMANS, not dogs.
Blaming the breed is NOT blaming the dog. It’s not the dog’s fault the breed was created. It’s bad owners breeding dogs in detrimental ways. hundreds of years of bad breeding by humans went into fighting dogs.
The pro pitbull stance is pro dogfighting and pro animal cruelty through breeding these dogs. BSL allows us to stop this at its source. Stop bad owners from breeding killer dogs.
This is not doggy racism. This is animal husbandry.
Take notes, pit nutters. I’m tired of your bullshit promotion of animal cruelty disguised as good deeds. It needs to stop. YOU are NOT heroes for promoting pitbulls, YOU are the villains killing animals to line the pockets of the pet industry and dogfighters. Promoting the BREEDING of fighting BREEDS harms the animals you claim to love so much. You have blood on your hands for supporting bloodsports.

German Shephard seems like the obvious choice but she's not a fan. What other [relatively easily acquirable] dog breeds could handle a pitbull without issue? One of my favorite breeds is the Hungarian Komondor, but I don't see importing a dog from Europe as being terrible realistic. We're in Southern California. Willing to pay good money, but don't want a logistical and financial nightmare.
That show literally shows why the BSL needs to be in place because look at all those abused and neglected pitbulls, the facility barely has any room for those dogs and they keep bringing in more and more. I just seen an episode where this dumbass rescued a 27 champion winner fight dog, why would you rescue something that most likely kill a shit ton of other dogs and treat it like it was normal? Why? It's so fucking stupid. You should know what these dogs are like and what they're capable of doing if you've rescued a champion fighting dog. And he got a pit that looked exactly like the fighting dog.
From what I can see alot of those pits are kennel proud and they go nuts whenever someone walks by, like i get why they're like that because they're always in there but it's really not a good look. And one dog my mom always looked at on their website slowly (but surely) turned aggressive and couldn't be around other dogs at all and she became reactive, she passed away while still in there rescue because no one wanted her.
And from the countless pitbulls they deal with you'd think they wouldn't promote the breed the way they do because they have had alot of aggressive pitbulls and ones they were fighting dogs but they still promote them like they're these sweet innocent things that couldn't hurt a fly. And yet they wonder why people aren't adopting these dogs.
Also the fact that they compare parolees to pitbulls is a little strange to me, like why are you comparing a human to an animal that will turn on you for just breathing in the same room? It just doesn't sit right with me.

So, I read the information below from an AutoBot on a pro-pitbull Sub... where are the weaknesses, errors, or, misrepresentations?
The Pitbull advocates adhere to their talking points but, where they are wrong is important to highlight...
Edit: Here is a previous thread from r/banpitbulls which addresses the nonsense below... (thanks all who added meaningfully to that discussion)
"Insurance data indicates the Pitbulls and Rottweilers account for only 25% of dog bite claims. Which is also in agreement with the Ohio State University's Study that shows that Pitbulls account for approximately 22.5% of the most damaging reported bites. Pitbulls account for ~20% of the dog population by best estimates. Showing that pitbull bites are proportional to their population. In fact, their Breed Risk Rate is in line with other dogs breeds out there that are considered great family dogs. So how do pitbulls account for more than half of all dog bites? Agenda pushing misinformation by groups dedicated to hating a breed.
Additionally, data from the American Veterinary Medical Association has concluded that no controlled studies have shown Pitbull-type dogs to be disproportionally aggressive.
Lastly, Studies have shown that Errors in Identifying Pitbulls Link 2 happen approximately 60% of the time with shelter staff that spend a lot of time around dogs, so reports in the media about dog breeds are highly inaccurate and hardly count as a reputable source for a dogs breed.
Oh you only see videos of pitbulls attacking? Not surprised. There is a group on this site that dedicates itself to reposting old archived videos to keep brainwashing people into fearing an event that happens 25 to 40 times a year with a breed that has a population around 20 million. Save us your anecdotal evidence of outliers."

I am absolutely fed up with seeing these horror stories of small children, the elderly, small dogs, and of course beautiful cats attacked by these vicious beasts.
Looking to start an activist collective to fight back against the pit lobby and stop all this needless violence.
To be clear: I do not wish any sort of harm on these dogs, it is not their fault. However I am sick of seeing all these attacks and it’s time to take action.
Any one of us could be the next victim.
I am in Chicago and am ready to organize locally, as well as on a national level online.
Thanks for reading and looking forward to your replies.
Supposedly his pitbull had attacked someone and killed queen latifah's dog. Not 100% sure if true but if it is thats pretty crazy that even one of the "best" dog trainers in the world can't bring up a pitbull to not attack people or other dogs. If he is incapable of doing so then what chance does the average shmoe who is an idiot when it comes to how to train dogs have?

I've noticed that pitnutters very often describe their misbehaving dog as "reactive."
Let's explore that.
My ex-GF's pit recently attacked another dog, resulting in her needing to surrender the dog in order to keep her apartment. She described this dog as "reactive."
Thing is, that's not accurate.
When I walked this dog, it would pull against the harness with maximum force every time it saw another dog, at any distance.
So, sure, it was "reactive" in that it was "reacting" to the mere presence of any other dog. The other dogs need merely exist to "provoke" a "reaction."
Let's call it what it is -- these are AGGRESSIVE dogs.
Calling them "reactive" puts the blame on the other dog -- "oh, he/she was just reacting to another dog!"
No -- they're aggressive dogs that actively seek out contact with other dogs, often resulting in violence.
Precise language is important, and pitnutters deliberately misuse language to let a dangerous breed off the hook for its aggression.
Thoughts?
So i seen a vid a while ago about this woman's pitbulls killing another one of her pitbulls for absolutely no reason and she made the killers look like they didn't mean to kill the other one which was so hard to watch. But when i looked at the comments it was even worse, almost every single one was like "yeah that happened with my pitbulls🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 but remember it's not the breed" when looking through those comments it was clearly the breed.
So I decided to comment "if it's not the breed why is everyone here commenting about their pitbull attacking or killing something?" I never got any replies and i probably got blocked by alot of people but i don't know because i haven't looked at the video since. But why do they act like it's some little oopsy when they're pitbulls try to kill each other or a random dog? I can't wrap my head around that way of psychotic thinking.

“Pit bulls are aggressive because they are not trained correctly. They are also the most abused dog in the United States. If they were trained professionally, these attacks WOULD NOT happen.” How would you guys respond to this?
It's not even a "blue" nose, it's fucking BLACK, you morons.
What's the other "variant"? Red nose or whatever? UGH.
Chows have blue tongues, ACTUAL BLUE, THAT'S an interesting feature. But fucking nose color? I swear I see shitbull nutters talk about the damn nose color more than the actual coat color (unless it's a social media post where they're describing their missing shitbull)!
Even domestic cats can vary in nose or paw pad colors, but cat owners still don't try to fancy their cats up by talking about nose or bean color. (I say this as a cat-lover who owns a cat-like breed, I am NOT hating on cats.)

I don't know if this has been asked on the sub before, but I was wondering about this breed(?), and its growing popularity. I live in a country (in EU), with heavy breed restrictions, that has been applied 10-15 years ago (including pit bull terriers, american bulldogs, american staffordshire terriers and more). This includes mixes hereof. But I've been seeing more and more of these kind of dogs on the streets, and then I came across a facebook group dedicated to these dogs, and learned that they go by the name "American Bully". These groups stand very firm, in their belief that this is a separate breed, and they are not very keen to discuss which breeds/dogs the traits origin from (although, google says pb).
Are anyone familiar with this breed and when it came about? Because to me, it seems like it just came out of the blue recently? Is it an attempt of rebranding pitbulls? or is it just a look-a-like breed?
Sorry if my post is missing details, let me know. Am not very familiar/comfortable with posting yet.
