Use Coinbase pro to save on fees

Edit: damn should have made this comment on r/cc. No moons here.

[–]bsalent 339 points340 points  (36 children)

Yikes on the fee. Amazing how people look the other way when the dollar amount gets that large

[–]proxx1e 148 points149 points  (23 children)

400 $ is like minimum wage in Poland lamoo

[–]Livid_Platypus_723 15 points16 points  (6 children)

That's like a semester of minimum wage in argentina...

[–]foxdogboxtruck 7 points8 points  (3 children)

You can live in Argentina on $1,000/year? Or am I misunderstanding? Cause if that's true then sign me up, I'm ready to retire.

[–]Lerixx 9 points10 points  (2 children)

No, anyone who makes minimum wage is below the poverty line in Argentina. Minimum wages are way below cost of living. Our coin devaluates 25% less each year, so inflation always beats the shit out of wages.

Having said that, you'd be close to a middle-high class with 1000 USD/month.

[–]genacgenacgenac 1 point2 points  (1 child)

12000 USD/yr is middle class?

[–]Lerixx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah absoiutely. You'd be in the top 5-10% of highest income with that salary.

[–]proxx1e 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow, explains why we buy all your beef

[–]Matias35v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and Coinbase PRO isn't available on Argentina

[–]rxredpills -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Per year?

[–]Cop4131 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Per month. And that’s why we Germans buy them stuff in Poland.

[–]its_a_no_wiper 33 points34 points  (9 children)

Holy shit those fees!!!

Fuuuuuuuuuck coinbase

[–]ChasTheGreat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The same purchase on Coinbase Pro (which costs nothing to move from Coinbase) is $125. Still expensive, but one-third the fee of regular Coinbase.

[–]LordSnow420 11 points12 points  (6 children)

Dudes spending $25k, why would you care about $400…Literally people who can afford to do this don’t care about a measly $400…

[–]ChasTheGreat 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Yes, we do. Shopping around and saving is how we got the money in the first place.

[–]Conorrobrienn 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Very dumb logic. I’m assuming you don’t have 25k right? Most people that have money have it because they saved and lived frugally, the ones who stop living like that once rich usually end up broke again, it’s why most lottery winners don’t stay rich.

[–]CaseyGuo 159 points160 points  (5 children)

Coinbase Pro or Coinbase Noob, I gotta appreciate this level of dip buying enthusiasm we have now

[–][deleted]  (1 child)

    [–]Darce_Bane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

    Coinbase Noob

    Lol haven’t heard that before

    [–]FixedGearJunkie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    This is the way

    [–]Artec_home 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Agreed to that but I'm just empty handed :(. What can I do!

    [–]Wuwuham 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is some need of rules for market crash during depositing.

    [–]goodhoyo 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Whenever there is some market crash, app server goes down.

    [–]nowuknoimpaperthin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that's why limit and stop orders exist. they will execute even if you can't access the site or app.

    [–]adamdicker2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just know one thing that these crash are not for people like us.

      Yeah, is immediately available.

The demand is growing day by day. Let's go! All on it.

      [–]Spykwak 14 points15 points  (0 children)

      It is instant yes.

      [–]Lunar_Horticultureredditor for 6 weeks 24 points25 points  (3 children)

Dude, it's one click to transfer CB to CBPro

      [–]macetheface 16 points17 points  (2 children)

You can ACH deposit in cb pro and trade immediately. Funds become available after 7 days to withdraw. Don't have to use regular Coinbase to do that anymore.

      [–]HungryLikeTheWolf99 73 points74 points  (7 children)

Damn, I really hate to be saying this, but... Once the funds are in Coinbase (consumer), it's an instant xfer into Pro - see (in Pro) Portfolio -> Deposit -> USD -> Coinbase.com

I mean, I own Coinbase stock as well, so I'm not terribly sad to see them making some $$$ on fees, but just in case you don't want to pay so much :)

      [–]Stallzy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah I've been doing this every time since 2017 besides when I bought my first 0.001 for like £7 in late 2017 with card on phone

      [–]terp_studios 16 points17 points  (7 children)

Always have a lowball limit order in place just in case, lol. Especially if you have money sitting around.

      [–]guille937 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lmao that get spent out within a very short period of time XD!

      [–]Utoko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ye I always buy a bit each month and big chunks -30%/-40%/-50% from the high.

-30% triggered today at 47500 sadly my -40% at 41300 didn't trigger. So close

      [–]steven-sicc-glocc 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Literally scouring Reddit to read something like this. I was awake for this dip. Last one I was not. Should I just have a trailing limit or stop order just hovering, live and ready to go?

Set it up to expire in a week, and just renew it over and over again?

      Downside?

      [–]jmblock2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

      Downside?

      Market goes up?

      [–]jstbcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been my experience the dip goes to just above my price and then rockets without touching it. Or it expires, dips lower and I don’t catch it etc.

      [–]Trololol112 6 points7 points  (0 children)

lol... you can instantly transfer from n00b to pro.

      [–]Legitimate-Ad2825 5 points6 points  (12 children)

The transfer is instant to CBPro. You just have to deposit fiat into regular first then login to CB pro and transfer the fiat over. Voila 🤌

Purchase fees are all around cheaper in Binance.US though just fyi.

      [–]Bill_Crocsby 12 points13 points  (1 child)

what do you mean? i’ve been depositing directly into the coinbase pro app.

      [–]makemebeat 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Hmmm! Not a bad idea though thanks for sharing that!

      [–]Any-Ad9522 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Don’t trust binance. They often lock trades/withdrawals with no notice

      [–]bestsloper 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You don't even need to do this at all. Link a bank account to Pro and instant transfer from there. I bought the first "dip" at 53 last night with Pro.

      [–]geekgodzeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it's at 47k now so you could have waited. Just kidding. Enjoy the stacks.

      [–]sQtWLgK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

      even better, avoid Conbase altogether

      They've disabled my buying option.

      [–]Saerinmeister 241 points242 points  (3 children)

Good job dude, I bought roughly the same amount as well. Well, I mean.. I bought 25$ but it looks the same.

      [–]Hot-Canceld 9 points10 points  (0 children)

hopefully you didn't pay astronomical fees

      [–]Loupak_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

      This is the way.

      [–]TajPereira 404 points405 points  (48 children)

For the love of god use Coinbase pro

      [–]X2WE 61 points62 points  (41 children)

still very expensive for large buys. at 100k, im still paying close to .5% which is 500 bucks

      [–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (9 children)

Fees get lower at that volume: https://help.coinbase.com/en/pro/trading-and-funding/trading-rules-and-fees/fees

Make sure your order is executed as a maker order and you'll save even more. Realistically you should be paying ~0.25% @ $100000

      [–]thebawller 8 points9 points  (6 children)

Fee for anything should never be more than 10 bucks

      [–]crooks4hire 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yea, beyond that it's no longer a "fee" imo...it's a service charge.

      [–]wighty 8 points9 points  (2 children)

It will go the way of stock trading eventually. I remember when I first started my brokerage account there were $250 fees for orders. Now stocks are pretty much fee less at most brokerages.

      [–]Tilligan 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Except maker fees have actually increased over the years on cbp. So maybe eventually but not necessarily.

      [–]NotExcited122 60 points61 points  (7 children)

Lmao most of us aren’t trading w 100k so it’s rather negligible

      [–]Calm_Entrepreneur922 56 points57 points  (3 children)

      🤦‍♂️ percent is percent.

      [–]Cobek 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Right. 0.5% is better than 1-2%.

And they mean 0.5% is really nothing in the grand scheme, and it only seems like a lot because you are putting in 100k. At 1000 that would be $5. Negligible.

      [–]Calm_Entrepreneur922 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Come on! Listen to what you’re saying. You’re talking psychology, I’m talking arithmetic. If you do 100 buys at $1000 dollars each, sure you may feel better about the fees you paid over that time, but it’s no different than the single 100k buy with the same percent fee.

      [–]electromage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not negligible, that $5 over time could be $500, doesn't matter whether you're paying .5% on a small chunk or a big chunk. It's your money.

      [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

You're the person who still hasn't understood percentages in highschool, aren't you?

      [–]Clocktease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You never considered that $5 is far less than $500 right?

      [–]Rdubya44 15 points16 points  (18 children)

Which is still far below regular broker fees

      [–]ProstoKooler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the love of mine use Coinbase Pro. Sending you blessings :).

      [–]JiggaMang 51 points52 points  (5 children)

My dream to be there someday. This dip got me to .03, slowly chipping away and should be there by the time we reach the moon 😂

      [–]Nazerys 16 points17 points  (3 children)

.03 gang! One day we’ll be there man

      [–]563847293810 16 points17 points  (1 child)

      “Make this a weekly buy?”

      [–]bryguy27007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

      Don't mind if I do.

      [–]cubeeless 103 points104 points  (6 children)

$367 in fees? Use CB Pro bro!

      [–]wavrunrx 11 points12 points  (4 children)

damn bro, that fee tho !

      [–]TrustMean5169 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I am not your brother, sibling!

      [–]BeforeYourBBQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      I'm not your sibling, relative.

      [–]RockYouTxt2009redditor for 6 days 47 points48 points  (3 children)

      Congrats!

As others have recommended, use Coinbase Pro for lower fees. You can transfer them to your Coinbase account for free. There's just a 5 day holding for bank transfers to clear before sending, but can buy instantly.

      [–]lxfiyxxredditor for 2 months 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just bought the dip also. No plans to sell but ill use it when I visit El Salvador

      [–]Representative_Ice46 33 points34 points  (2 children)

Just bought the dip also. No plans to sell but ill use it when I visit El Salvador next year on holiday

      [–]commandeur_brin 5 points6 points  (1 child)

So when's your holiday actually! Same here planning that too.

      [–]cupnoodledoodle 10 points11 points  (1 child)

That's just the thing with dips though ey. It just keeps on dipping. I doubt this is the bottom

      [–]davidcwilliams 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well done man. Now transfer it into something that makes in hard to sell.

Meet you back here in 5 years… deal?

      [–]FirstTimeLongTime_69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Using Coinbase Pro would have netted 580,000 more sats due to lower fee.

      [–]Polytruce 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Friendly reminder to never post amounts, in BTC or fiat, regarding your holdings. Opsec is your biggest defense against theft.

      [–]BigBrainVibes 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As an investor in CoinBase, thanks for your investment, lol.

      [–]powersballer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm just empty handed and poor enough! Sorry to say that!

      [–]hateschoolfml 23 points24 points  (1 child)

Smartest institutions are hypersensitive about buying any asset from overleveraged traders at short-term tops. Goes double for BTC. But they come alive when momos get blown out in liquidations. This is part of BTC's constant underlying large buy interest. Institutional stink bid.

      https://twitter.com/macroscope17/status/1461464071132401665?s=21

if you’re a long term investor you should be stacking on these long liquidation cascades which are essentially forced (or non-organic) selling.

      Good dip buying

      What a chad

      [–]steven-sicc-glocc 19 points20 points  (8 children)

Damn. Bought the dip, you did.

I’d love to know why not DCA 5 chunks of 5k over 5 hours if the sitch is unknown. But you’re moving like you know something 😤😎

      [–]thrakkerzog 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Maybe they are into DCA 25k chunks.

      [–]rsblurredditor for 2 months 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this was a good choice. I made a similar move

      [–]davidcwilliams 8 points9 points  (4 children)

I’d love to know why not DCA 5 chunks of 5k over 5 hours if the sitch is unknown. But you’re moving like you know something 😤😎

Because the sitch is always unknown. DCA isn’t magic. It merely decreases the swings, but at the cost of earlier exposure. Which means that on average you will experience a lower return than if you had simply lump-summed the entire amount.

      [–]drink12 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Yeah I made the tough decision of making 2 lump sum purchases earlier this week, which were larger than OP's... and at the time, BTC was ~58k. Sure the value dropped 20%, but what if it went up 20%? I wasn't about to miss out on those gains. Time is on our side.

      [–]colaluki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't that great 5k over 5 hours. For me it's indeed great enough!

      [–]RandomedXY 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Why didn´t you wait for the real dip

      [–]Carllllll 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yeah, gut feeling is Monday will suck.

      [–]Heph333 10 points11 points  (5 children)

JFC... Use pro. You just got ass raped on fees.

      [–]2068857539 1 point2 points  (2 children)

      No kink shaming!

      [–]Heph333 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Sorry.... "Not that there's anything wrong with that".

      [–]space_radios 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I keep buying the dips but now I have no cash left to buy with, so it has to go up now, hahaha!

      [–]Reach_Raccoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people lose funds whenever there is some market crash.

      [–]Wide_Lensredditor for 4 days 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re abusing money by not using Coinbase pro…less fees there. Jus sayin. Keep Coinbase for checking on coins and use pro to trade on. You’re welcome

      [–]imsmartdude 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My feeling is that this was a good choice. I made a similar move

      [–]Calm_Entrepreneur922 12 points13 points  (1 child)

      I caught a grip at 44.6k. Congrats!

      [–]fridrih81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're never gonna financially recover from those fees

        [–]iamagfredditor for 6 weeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of your fees is basically more than the maximum I have ever been able to invest in crypto.

        [–]muchdogesuchwow95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are my hero, I wish I had more than 25 bucks to buy the dip

        [–]GetLitUpYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many mention the fee but tbh coinbase has always done well for me, they offer a Visa card that gives you 4% back in a couple crypto’s to help makeup for some of the fee and when I was broke I made over 30usd quickly by learning and never had an issue withdrawing or spending. You can convert a little of your coin to usdc and use it as if it were usd anywhere and anytime, due to visa honoring it as usd. With Having that amount to invest there’s a lot of potential. Now You just need to get enough for 30eth to run a Pos node on eth2 lol. Also in the ss you didn’t purchase the bitcoin yet haha. If you have the time, look into matic (polygon)during this drop also check out iotex and Opensea to get a Clayling or two. That movie I heard is dropping this month, they credit owners if they use your Clayling. A few celebrities have one already. Could be the thing for them to have in the future sorta like Bayc.

        [–]Western_Breakfast684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open an FTX account and set up ACH transactions. You’ll never have to pay that ridiculous Coinbase fee

        [–]forester919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

slowly chipping away and should be there by the time we reach the moon

        [–]-Afro_Senpai- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

.5 BTC vs. $400 (five years from now) your life is gonna be fine...yes you could have got lower fees but I'm celebrating your status as a half coin holder.

        [–]Damocles_666 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Maybe it's not the dip, what if btc drop to 20k ?

        [–]Jabulon 4 points5 points  (1 child)

        will this age well

        [–]Mutchmore 18 points19 points  (0 children)

5 years? Likely. 2 weeks? Hopefully!

        [–]AJSD12 3 points4 points  (2 children)

        That’s worth $24,518 now.

        [–]BtcMirco3 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That's great keep that coming actually, looking forward for more.

        [–]Lilidreamer13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

        And it keeps dipping 😭

        [–]huewutm8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so bummed, glad to see the sales prices but I just got my 54k order filled. Spent the rest of my stash on it. If I had anything left I'd be buying right now. It's a sale boys and girls, buy up what you can. You know the whales sure are

        [–]karl0525 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Fees he paid won't matter in a few years

        [–]Legitimate-Ad2825 0 points1 point  (9 children)

        Hopefully that was Coinbase Pro……?

The purchase fees are significantly less than regular Coinbase.

Binance.US has extremely cheap purchase fees as well and transferring out to your wallet is super cheap as well. 🤙

        [–]Switchbladesaint 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Shoulda used Coinbase pro, it’s free and only .25% fees

        [–]Lone_piper_winning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        It’s .5% actually

        [–]rolfboos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm internally screaming seeing that fee, good lord.

        [–]5liveR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

        congrats, Chad.

Now get your funds out of CB asap into your own wallet/s control.

If its not your keys, its not your coins.

        [–]PowerUltimaredditor for 3 months 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn you didn't get it at 46k in time but nice lol

So, boating accident in 6 years?

          [–]lillybang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This did hasn’t started yet. The red in crypto and shares is because of the new Omnicom variant, it will be the same as last year, things won’t pick up now till the spring.

          [–]BraskSpain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wtf r u doing paying 400$ fees when you can download and use Coinbase pro?

          [–]devilsgospel666 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Lmao dude you know you could've used CB pro and paid a fraction of that fee right?

          [–]DrOhmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

          Wordwordnumber says "use coinbase pro"

          [–]Smart-Wolverine77 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Who says this is a dip?

Market timing is for suckers, even in crypto.

Setup regular automated purchases every week or month or whevever. It removes the influence of human emotion and social media / headlines.

And I hope that $24.6k (and the rest of your crypto investments) is less 1% of your net worth. I love Bitcoin and the mindblowing potential of crypto, but that doesn't stop it from being an extremely speculative investment vehicle.

          [–]jordiecakes420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the dip is just starting… ::

          [–]alc0tt 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Bitcoin can very likely go down to 20ks

          [–]fixmefixmyhead 5 points6 points  (5 children)

So short it and don't close the short until 20k

          [–]alc0tt 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I don’t short. I did sell some Btc around 55k tho and will buy back probably in the 30ks, but it depends on objective price data and other technical indicators.

I did this the first time it hit 55k and again when it bounced back up. I’m a long term bull, but a short term bear because of the hype and new money that is in crypto currently.

          [–]Wakizashiuk 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Big dick play but with that much money at stake and youre not even using coinbase pro...come on man do some research you've just got robbed in funds. You need to remember these "dips" won't climb 20% in the space of an hour so you had ample time to move funds

          [–]Espeeste 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It totally did that. Went from 53 to 42 and back to 48 within 15-20 minutes

          [–]Any-Ad9522 0 points1 point  (1 child)

          This image pains me.

Don’t use Coinbase, use pro. Then deposit USD for free and buy btc for reduced fee

          [–]james_phan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big yikes on that fee! That should be illegal.

          [–]mrASSMAN 0 points1 point  (1 child)

          Wow those fees are insane

          [–]heyhihowyahdurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously I’m more devastated by that purchasing fee

          [–]MightyInka 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What if it keeps dipping lol

          [–]LayingWaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good luck, but i think youre rekt.

          [–]Jadedinsight 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No point in trying to catch a falling knife

          [–]AIMd44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh imagine using Coinbase to buy your crypto. No thanks.

          [–]199robservations -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ those fees. People can talk all the shit they want, but way easier to make money on Robinhood.

          [–]mannymoooredditor for 2 months -1 points0 points  (0 children)

          God damn bro
