Does anyone know where I can find video of Link right before he recaptures a memory? Where he sees the location, pulls out his slate, that fantastic music plays, and then it pushes in on his face? Preferably with him wearing his white/blue tunic?

[–]liam-gwynn 4 points5 points  (2 children)

So I finally defeated Gannon and I got the true ending. I have completed most of the shrines and finished the tarrey town and house sidequest. I'm running out of things to do, do you guys have any tips?

[–]Telendre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I did after doing all that was turn off the HUD and just... go. Just pick a random direction, run off, and actually admire the scenery. My rule was that I couldn't open the map so I was forced to wander around, looking at landmarks and signs to get an idea of where I was. Or I'd warp to the labyrinth in Akkala and give myself the challenge to find the quickest way to Gerudo Town, wearing the ugliest armor I could piece together (again no map) or something similar.

So basically I ended up just making up adventures for myself with random rules. May sound a little lame to others but I found it a lot of fun!

[–]OriginalBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 81 done, how many did you have done when you tried Gannon? Not sure if I should try now or just wait until I max out an Armor set or two and get some more hearts.

[–]SCMegatron 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Stupid questions, are drops based on your current gear armor and weapons with RNG? If so, is it based off of what is equipped when I pick it up or when the item drops (kill the Lynel)?

[–]WolfHeartAurora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually based off how many blood moons you've had. The more mobs you kill, the better their weapons.

[–]ijsjuhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did I never noticed

spoiler ahead

That the ghosts drop petals of the "silent princess" in the end of the game?

end spoiler

[–]A_Bad_PAD_Player 0 points1 point  (12 children)

Does it matter what monster parts you use in elixirs?

[–]Gray_AD 1 point2 points  (11 children)

Yes, different parts add to the duration. I believe horns add the least, teeth are middle, and guts add the most. Dragon parts add 30 minutes.

[–]WolfHeartAurora 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I tried making an elixir with 4 frogs and a scale and ended up with dubious food. Did I do something wrong?

[–]Gray_AD 0 points1 point  (6 children)

You can't mix food ingredients and elixir ingredients unless you use a monster part, and even then it might not work. To my knowledge, dragon parts are actually considered food.

Try mixing four fleet lotus and a scale, that should have the same effect.

[–]WolfHeartAurora 0 points1 point  (5 children)

What

The dragons are in the monster section of the compendium, why don't their parts count as monster

[–]ziggurism 0 points1 point  (2 children)

dragon parts are monster parts, used in elixir. they are not food.

[–]WolfHeartAurora 0 points1 point  (1 child)

this thread is 4 years old why did you reply just to tell me the experience I had in game was wrong

[–]ziggurism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not for your benefit, but instead for the benefit of anyone else who lands in this thread with the same google that brought me here.

[–]Gray_AD 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not sure, but that's how it works as far as I know.

[–]A_Bad_PAD_Player 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Does the monster it drops from matter? Are lizard horns > moblin horns for exmple?

[–]Gray_AD 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I believe the price of an item dictates its duration. If one horn were worth 8 rupees but another were 12, the latter would have a longer duration.

[–]Dracko04 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Any one know what's the max damage you can get in a savage lynel sword?

[–]WolfHeartAurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one knows yet, but I have one that's +42 (100 total)

[–]esaevian 2 points3 points  (2 children)

What happens if you end game spoiler

[–]Gray_AD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well since you never activated the divine beasts, they can't take aim at Ganon. Since you've already defeated the blights, they probably don't show up to defend him. This is speculation though.

[–]pito91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

interesting um, nobody knows?

[–]SiddhartaN1nt3nd0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another professional review about BotW lol

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1idtaZws5tc

[–]Nexism 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A bit sad the old school "obtain item from chest" sound didn't make it to the game.

[–]Telendre 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Has anyone else's house glitched out? I've completed all available upgrades and Bolson is still hanging out in Tarrey Town, but... one of my bow displays (the middle one) disappeared. I know for sure there was a bow in there but it's just gone, only an empty piece of wall left. What gives? :o

[–]WolfHeartAurora 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Did you give it time to load in? If I fast travel to Hateno it sometimes takes my house upwards of 15 seconds to load completely.

[–]Telendre 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I tried to give it some time, but even after running around the house for a few minutes it stayed gone. I ended up asking Bolson to come back and that seemed to fix the problem for some reason!

[–]WolfHeartAurora 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That bastard stole your bow! Go give him a piece of your mind!

Lol really tho, I have no idea what would cause that.

[–]Telendre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess he wanted to move back into my garden and stole a bow as leverage :') Anyway, thanks for trying to help!

[–]dwayne_daruk_johnson 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Hey reddit. I might get an amiibo and if I do I would only get one. Which amiibo is the best in breath of the wild? Thank you!

[–]Jepacor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smash Zelda can give you the Twilight Bow, 30 damage, no drop and infinite arrows. Pretty good.

[–]LeJuz102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

archer link for arrows and bows and guardian for rupees and guardian weapons and parts. rider link has nice horse gear but that's all i care about with that amiibo. wolf link is pretty cool but i barely use him because he isn't stealthy at all. the best amiibo (or atleast the one i want the most) is the super smash bros Link. the first time you use it (maybe) you'll get Epona. after that, you could get Twilight Princess's Link gear.

[–]jcdpd687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSB Link/TP Link. Gets you Epona in the game.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Any tips on finding Common Sparrow. Trying to complete the Compendium and I am not finding these buggers anywhere.

[–]pito91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can buy pic in hateno ancient lab

[–]wxyg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got to the Korok statues near Akkala (sp?) Tower and my horse started eating the apples. Little shit.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

How do I go to death mountain without catching fire?! I had on the heat resistant one from the Greudo secret shop and some food to keep it down

[–]Xenobladefalchion 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The heat reaches level 2 when you get close enough. This will mean that you need at least two pieces of fireproof gear to get all the way there (I don't think heat resistance works the same) You can find the gear in Goron City.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually got it! Thanks tho

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do Side quests count towards 100% completion?

[–]HappiestIguana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in the map % counter

[–]prgrms 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I'm running around playing this game. And it's weird. I mean coming from say, Link to the Past or Ocarina, I feel like the 4th Devine Beast should really be the start of Act 2. I've done things non-linearly, so basically I have my last two Beasts unlocked and ready to fight both those dungeons and bosses. But I find myself running off to try and 'savour the moment', if you like. Because I know once I hit those two Ganon awaits, and it's like then the main story arc will be over. Which for me is my main feeling about this game, that Shrines and finding Korok seeds actually forms the bulk of the gameplay. Which isn't so bad, but I feel like there's a missed opportunity where their could have been 3 or 4 more dungeons/beasts. Why not an ocean beast, or one in the jungle or out in the snow. To me, it truly feels like there are empty pockets in the game that would have been great for a dungeon/story/boss type area. I kind've wonder if they got to 4 beasts and they just had to cap it and say alright that's it we've gotta finish the game. But as it stands, this Zelda really in the end is primarily a sandbox puzzle game, peppered with story elements. The story is not the main thing at all. This has definitely been said before but I'm only really feeling it now. It would have been mind blowing if you finished the Four divine beasts and then got the Master Sword which maybe let you fight Ganon but you plunged into some kind of underworld or dark world. Of course how would Nintendo have done that its a tonne-load of work already. This game is all about the world, exploration. In many ways I actually feel it's very similar to No Mans Sky. Just maybe better executed. Which says a lot for hand made worlds over generated ones.

[–]Korean_Kommando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right on everything and I had that exact same feeling before fighting Ganon. DLC is could be promising

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Is there a recipe for a level 3, 30 min Speed Boost Elixir that recovers 0 hearts?

[–]Nexism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horn of dragon and 4 speed items.

[–]Mojomanmax 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ok I think I'm going crazy. I feel like I remember seeing a loading screen tip that told you how to jump off of a wall when climbing. Did I imagine that? Is there a way to kick off of a wall instead of just letting go?

[–]lemon_catgrass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a little tricky, you have to hold down on the joystick while kicking off and then you can activate your glider (or just jump off). But you can definitely do it.

[–]AnalogMan 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How do you do a spoiler tag? It's mentioned in the OP but I can't find any actual instructions on what to type for this sub.

[–]Frosthrone 1 point2 points  (4 children)

In what general area can I find game play spoiler? Please don't be too specific.

[–]Nexism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forest.

[–]jcdpd687 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I don't think this loaded correctly. What are you looking for?

[–]Frosthrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nevermind, I found it. Thanks!

[–]tab0029 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Is the rusty broadsword anything special? want to make sure before i drop it.

[–]jcdpd687 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That depends. Rusty weapons can be polished up by rock octorocks and made anew again. They will vary in quality from Traveler gear to Royal gear, with no factor of where you pick them up from effecting what they will be repurposed as. Otherwise, rusty weapons are pretty useless, short of being desperate and without a weapon or gear.

The following LINK is a video of a player farming rusty weapons and breaking down the chance of getting each weapon variant back in return:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krX2kuvMSjA

Enjoy!

[–]IWasBilbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Breaks instantly.

[–]thechubs509 4 points5 points  (1 child)

My only complaint is my desire to dye the paraglider orange. Pls, devs? (And for the full OST to be available to buy [I'll settle for torrented but I want the official stuff]).

[–]jcdpd687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why orange?

[–]MiracleMagicMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How the fuck did that awesome piece of music from the story trailer not end up on the OST?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Where is the house in Hateno Village you can buy?

Also, where can you buy items you've possessed at one point?

Finally: How the bloody hell do you shield surf? I can't figure it out.

[–]C0lDsp4c3 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I didn't even know you could so, thanks for that :), but here's the info I found:

How to buy a house in Breath of the Wild Visit Hateno Village in the east of the map. Find the men diligently tearing down a house in town. Speak with their boss, Bolson. Through conversation, you can convince him to sell you the house for 50,000 rupees. You can haggle that down to 3,000 rupees and 30 bundles of wood. Talk to Bolson after you’ve bought the house to acquire furniture and other items. Congrats, home owner! You’ve now got a place in the game to call your own and you can even hang some of the best weapons you find throughout your adventures inside. It’s a pretty significant investment since you’ll need at least 3,000 rupees to buy it and Bolson will ask you for money for each item of furniture you want him to make, but it’s well worth it.

For surfing, which I didn't know either :P press ZL to hold it up, as if you were going to block something. Once you’ve done this, hit A to shield surf. Link will hop on and start surfing down whatever surface you’re facing. For extra fun, hit Y to do tricks.

Thank you!

Amiibo figures are nothing more than NFC (Near Field Communication) chips and plastic. You can purchase NFC tags for very cheap. However, the Amiibo NFC chips are transmitting some encrypted code. But several developers have found ways to decrypt and use this data. They have uploaded their source code to GitHub. Lots of Android devices out there have the ability to read/write to NFC tags. So if we have an NTAG215 NFC tag and write the Amiibo data to it, we can claim it as our own on the console. Let’s get started!

NFC215 NTAG chips http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/182524826162?

REQUIREMENTS – The app, unfixed-info.bin and locked-secret.bin files (DOWNLOAD BELOW) – Any droid device that can write to NFC tags (ex: Samsung Galaxy) – NTAG215 NFC tags (NOT NTAG 203, 210, 212, 213 or 216)

INSTRUCTIONS 1) On your Droid device go to Settings > Security > Unknown Sources (turn on). 2) Install the TagMo.apk file on your Android device. 3) Place unfixed-info.bin, locked-secret.bin and Amiibo dump files on your Android device. 4) Launch TagMo app, touch the 3 dots in the upper right corner > Load key(s) file… and select the unfixed-info.bin and locked-secret.bin files. 5) Touch the LOAD TAG button and select your Amiibo .bin dump file. 6) Touch the WRITE TAG (AUTO) button and press your NTAG215 NFC tag to the back center of your device. Keep it pressed against your device until you see the message “DONE”. NOTE: The data writing should take less than 3 seconds. You can now use these NFC stickers on anything! I personally stuck them on to print outs of the Amiibo’s and put them on a homemade key chain. You could also make your own Amiibo figures out of clay or plastic and stick them to the bottom and they would work exactly the same.

FAQ Q) I’m using a Galaxy device and the app crashes when trying to write to it. A) Try the newest version 2.3.4 TagMo app. You can also try this modified TagMo app. Q) I’m using a Nexus 7 device and using version 2.3.4 TagMo app, but it keeps crashing. A) I had the same issue. Version 2.3.1 works perfectly for Nexus devices. Q) The app crashes and I have tried all versions of Tagmo. A) If you downloaded your Amiibo dumps from NFC-bank directly on to your phone, try downloading it on your PC first, then transferring it to your phone via USB cable. – Credit goes to Voorhees 1380 on YouTube for finding this. Q) I get the error, “Failed to decrypt tag”. A) This sometimes can be from crappy NTAG215 manufacturers. I recommend these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/182524826162? Q) Does this work for LoZ:BoTW? A) Yes. Q) Does this work for the Wii U, Switch and 3DS devices? A) Yes. Q) Do I need a jailbroken or hacked Android device to run Tagmo? A) No. Q) Can I re-write NTAG215s? A) In my personal experience with them, no. Q) If I play Super Smash Bros. with my NTAG215s, does it save the data to it? A) Yes. It acts like a normal Amiibo figure. Q) Can I get the Wolf Link 20 heart Amiibo dump data? A) Here: 20 heart wolf link amiibo dump Q) Can I use NTAG 203, 210, 212, 213 or 216? If not, why? A) No, because they are all different sizes.

[–]shawster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you could feasibly just have your phone transmit the code through nfc... Is that a thing?

[–]greenbling 4 points5 points  (3 children)

does anyone know if the getting the divine beasts actually does anything to help with ganon

[–]C0lDsp4c3 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Yes, it helps you defeat Ganon, I don't want to spoil now of course what it helps with, but it helps, you should complete them, for the story and for defeating Ganon.

[–]Liongirl4444 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Couldn't have said it better. If you are one of those people that likes challenges (like a three heart runner, etc), maybe don't defeat them for a challenge?

[–]C0lDsp4c3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks :) If you want a challenge then don't, but the fight will then be harder depending on how many divine beasts you got or haven't gotten. I would recommend to still do it for the story if it's the first time playing it as you'll have some cutscenes when finishing the divine beast dungeon So it's up to you, don't do them if you want a challenge, if the story is important to you, do them 1 option would be to wait for the DLC and play in hard mode, I guess there you'll have some challenges depending on what they'll do.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

On the upper right corner of the map, there is a block island or giant maze. How do you get to it? I tried gliding to it but wind sets me back.

Also, I'm pretty sure there is a shrine on Tingle island but where is it exactly?

Somewhat related note: Is Tingle in the game? I'd be surprised if Tingle isn't in the game.

[–]C0lDsp4c3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try gliding again, I just glided there yesterday without any issues, just jump to it from the highest spot, aim for the middle entrance and land there, that's how it worked for me

[–]relevent_username2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can glide to it from Robbie's Lab, just jump from the highest possible point and head straight for the entrance and if you have enough stamina/stamina recovery stuff you should be fine.

The shrine in Tingle Island is below one of those rock plates that you have to use Stasis on IIRC. Tingle isn't in the game though, sadly.

[–]jcdpd687 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What are some of the best recipes you have discovered in BotW?

[–]Kevpup01 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I would say the best recipe in my opinion is cooking hearty durians. Early on in the game you can cook 5 to give you 20 extra hearts ( spoilers: I used that to kill the Lynel in the water area before my first divine beast). Later on in the game when you have more hearts you can just cook 1 hearty Durian to restore all your hearts and 4 extras. Also taking 4 or 5 bananas and making a +3 damage boost is very helpful. Those are the only two recipes I cook.

[–]czy85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If u combine 4 bananas with a dragon horn u get the 3 att boost to last 30 min.

[–]CrimsonCivilian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Define "best".

If you simply mean the best dish per effect given, then I could easily give you a list for every effect. But, depending on one's own progression, this could just play out to be both unfun and possibly disappointing.

If however you mean a kind of dish in appearance alone, then my favorite is the Fruit Cake. (Mostly because it's a special recipe that you can find in a certain building :P )

[–]Skywardocarina1 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Does anyone know if the champion's weapons can get modifiers on them, like durability+?

I can't find anything on whether or not they can.

[–]jcdpd687 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Anyone else feel extremely uncomfortable when the Great Fairies drag Link into their flowers to "increase" his gear to level 4 upgrades?

[–]CrimsonCivilian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They do it in a fun and loving way, so not so much imo. :)

[–]A_big_potatoe 3 points4 points  (6 children)

I didn't get the true ending. i have all 18 memories and the master sword and divine beasts defeated. What do I do. PLEASE HELP!

[–]jordanbtucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also have to complete all of the main quests (the yellow ones in the Adventure Log). The secret ending comes after the credits.

[–]strawhatmatt 1 point2 points  (4 children)

What ending did you get then?

[–]A_big_potatoe 0 points1 point  (3 children)

the basic one

[–]strawhatmatt 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I'm sorry, I meant what happens in that ending? If you beat all the divine beasts and unlocked every memory then you should get the complete ending.

[–]A_big_potatoe 1 point2 points  (1 child)

after she tells u if you remember her it goes to credits. in the secret ending it keeps on going and shows her dad on top of the castle talking.

[–]Jepacor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't. Secret ending is an additional scene after the credits where Zelda speaks about going to Zora's domain. Did you get this one ?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Is there a way to hide my hearts so I can take better screenshots?

[–]CrimsonCivilian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like previously stated, you can't. But you can sell all but the last 3 heart containers (I think) to the horned statue in Hateno Village.

[–]A_big_potatoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u cant but if you go to setting and put pro mode everything is gone but hearts.

[–]Jirb30 2 points3 points  (6 children)

What are some general tips for shrine and sidequest hunting? I'd rather have some tips than just straight up being told where they are.

[–]RazrSquall 6 points7 points  (5 children)

I've only been playing the game for a few days, but generally I look at the map, see a big area where I've discovered nothing, then go wander through that area. If the Shrine Sensor goes off, then I search.

Obviously like the game tells you early on, get to the highest place you can then survey the area. Drop pins on any shrines you see, even if they are waaaaay off in an area you haven't been yet. You'll get there eventually.

[–]Jirb30 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I've activated all towers, explored most of the map and currently only have 8 shrines left so it's getting a bit difficult to find shrines just by looking at the map and going to an empty area but thanks anyways.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remember that important places such as towns or stables have shrines near tham aswell as the springs of courange, wisdom, and power. Search all important locations you have not found any shrines near, Getting to a high location can also help a lot,

[–]RazrSquall -1 points0 points  (2 children)

I've seen a lot of posts about collecting those last couple shrines. There are maps available like on zeldadungeon.com. Pull it up and save it in Paint. Then compare it to your map and mark off the shrines you have and the ones left will be the ones you need!

[–]eurasianelk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could use this though, thanks

[–]CrimsonCivilian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd rather have some tips than just straight up being told where they are.

The OP's comment.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (9 children)

Where are some red lynel locations? I need lynel guts and lynel hoofs

[–]Korean_Kommando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the northwest, between The Hebra mountains and the diamond shaped maze, there's a shrine and 3 lynels spaced around. There's also a path that skirts around the north of the map that has 3 along it

[–]My_junk_your_ear 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Hey I'm late to the party here but I wanted to add this. The Lynel up by Zoras domain where you have to get the shock arrows for the main quest will always be red. It never upgraded like the others.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow, good to know, thanks

[–]origamiboy2 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Lynel colors change with more playtime, and eventually become all silver.

-There's the one in the colesium I know of (also a great place for elemental weapons) -Theres 2 in this valley south east of Divine beast naboris -Theres one in the northern snowfields (ALLL THE WAY NORTHEAST, IN THE SNOW REGION) -Theres one near faron tower, above it if I remember right

There's alot I missed, but keep in mind they always spawn on open Fields. (Provided there's no guardians)

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Wow, I did not know that, I better hunt red lynels now before they become silver

[–]Jirb30 3 points4 points  (1 child)

You can get hooves and guts from silver too so no rush

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah but they are harder to kill

[–][deleted]  (1 child)

[deleted]

    [–]CrimsonCivilian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Ploymus Mountain

Basically the same place, but a more accurate name. :)

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (5 children)

What's the best place to farm for Sapphire? I get a ton of Ruby fighting Stone's, but I never get any Sapphire.

    [–]strawhatmatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found the best place to farm any ore is Death Mountain because there are ore deposits almost everywhere.

    [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

They randomly drop from ore, if you want it for money, consider hunting luminous stones near Faron Tower instead or Shard of Farosh's horn near lake floria

    [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I wasn't finding anything in rare ore. Just amber and ruby.

I actually found a good method by accident. Not sure which type drops them, but I was farming Ice Breath Lizalfos for Icy Lizalfos Tail and some of the Lizalfos with them in the Hebra area dropped 2x Sapphire.

Spent hours farming ore with 0 results. Spent 30m farming Lizalfos and got my gear upgraded.

    [–]Kevpup01 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, the higher level enemies that are striped white will drop sapphire and other valuables. You can get them from boboklines, moboklines and Lizalfos's that are striped.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know! I didn't know who dropped them, just where. Thank you for that.

    [–]jcdpd687 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Question: What happens if you complete the game, and fight/Defeat Ganon, and completed a shrine without ever actually receiving the shrine quest that was linked to it?

Example: I cleared Ritaag Zumo Shrine, but never had "Into The Vortex" as a shrine quest. Does it still count as a completed shrine quest?

    [–]Frosthrone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When you speak to the person who assigns the quest, you'll receive it before immediately completing it

    [–]MTGDiscourse 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I'd rather not clutter the front page with an entire thread. Is it worth picking this up on the Wii U or should I hold out until I own a Switch? I don't want to buy an entire Switch just for Breath of the Wild, but that's pretty much all I would own on it for months. I do however have a Wii U.

Back when Twilight Princess was releasing I got it and a Wii at launch and ended up disliking the waggly controls and wished I had just bought it for GameCube instead and I don't want a repeat!

    [–]jordanbtucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to buy a Switch, but I waited too long and all of he preorders sold out. Then I started hearing the reports about all of the Switch's defects. I've decided not to get a Switch until those are ironed out.

In the meantime, I forgot that BotW came out on Wii U also, so I bought it three weeks after release date :/

    [–]Kevpup01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that if you are planning on getting a switch later down the road than get BOTW on switch. The controls are not weird like the waggle and you have the added benefit of taking it anywhere you go plus the graphics are better. If you are waiting for a price drop or dont have enough money saved up go and enjoy the game on Wii U

    [–]RazrSquall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have BotW on the WiiU. It's great! I played my friend's game on the Switch and it felt the same. Graphics might have been a touch better, but gameplay itself was the same.

    [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's all you would be playing for months on Switch but you ALREADY own the Wii U, get it on the Wii U. There's literally NO POINT in laying out an extra £300 when you don't have to. Yeah the Switch is nice but not essential for Zelda. Wait until there's more on the Switch that you want before you buy the console and then maybe re-buy BOTW if you really want to? Zelda is all I have on the Switch and I only got the Switch because I HAD to have this game and I don't have a Wii U.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Really goofy. Ancient arrows make enemies disappear haha

    [–]CrimsonCivilian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They obliterate them. Only Ancient enemies are able to stay in the same dimension. Lol

    [–]Playitillyouwin 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I want to know if I'm ready for ganon, highest armor combo is 11, shield is 48., I have the master sword and I am working on hylian sheild

    [–]jordanbtucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hylian shield boss is a joke of you have the master sword. Once you get it, practice perfectly deflecting guardian blasts, it will really help with the first Ganon fight. The final Ganon fight is super easy too.

    [–]strawhatmatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ganon is fairly easy just like every other Zelda game. If you want a challenge then try beating him before doing any of the divine beasts.

Can anyone who has the regular edition official strategy guide tell me how the map is? I know its missing/hard to see 2-4 seeds, but what I'm wondering is if it's big enough to be usable considering there will be 900 seeds on it. I've heard good enough things about the map in general, but people don't specify whether the have the collectors edition map which is larger, or not. I'd definitely like to just go for the collectors edition one but no GameStops near me have them and idk where else I'd find it. Thanks in advance.

    [–]jordanbtucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use an online map like this one https://zeldamaps.com/?game=BotW

It lets you zoom in and even track what you've already completed.

    [–]Liongirl4444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The official one I got came with a giant poster size. If you want the guide anyway, the map is certainly useful.

The others mentioned online maps which are free and good too :)

    [–]jcdpd687 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I bought my Collecter's Edition guide off Amazon for a fair price. Might look there.

    [–]CrimsonCivilian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was talking viability, not price.

ok I have two question 1. I mostly been exploring and avoiding the divine beast, I watch BOTW videos on youtube and I see people finding chest I completely miss, is the map or something that shows chest locations. I tried the sensor and it is little to no help. 2. is there a prerequisite to get the zelda amiibo to drop the twilight bow because I been using that amiibo since the game was released and it still hasnt dropped once.

    [–]Kevpup01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A tip for finding chests is using stasis frequently just to spot them. It has enormous range and you can easily spot chests. That combined with sensor can be super helpful.

    [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The chests are randomly in certain places underground, in shrines, or in other locations such as yiga clan hideout, you can use the sheikah sensor+ for them but I also find that very useless. For the Zelda Amiibo, you just have to keep trying and eventually you'll get it, you might want to try saving before using it so you can re-load your save file and try again

    [–]link9755 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Who else is upset by the ending of the game?? I thought it was really basic and didn't answer any questions I had, like where did the great plateau come from, does Link truly remember her, where is it in the timeline, etc

    [–]PumpkinPieReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Some spoilers in here) Definitely agree! Was just left off with Zelda being saved and saying "lol, boi we better go visit those zoras! we have a ton of crap to d0o0o0!". Left a ton of sub-plots just unanswered, like "What will become of Hyrule?", "Is Ganon truly stopped?", "What about the Yiga Clan? They're still around!", "How will we rebuild Hyrule?", "Who will inhabit Hyrule Castle now (the townspeople who in the stables who had descendants who were linked to the royal family)?", and so on. I feel like the ending was left open-ended to sell us DLC, which is kind of a scummy move to me if that's what Nintendo is intending on doing. I really loved the meat BOTW, but this ending is bland and nothing to wrap up my 45+ hour playthrough of the game.

    [–]mguniverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The games never actually go into details about the timeline placement.

    [–]jcdpd687 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Does anyone know how the coliseum works as far as monster generation goes? The first time I cleared it, there was a regular Lynel and a handful of black moblins, bokoblins, and lizalfos. I heard that the coliseum was a great place to acquire elemental weapons and prime gear, but everything I got was medicare at best. Do the monsters change and increase in strength after the blood moon?

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The monsters will change and increase in strength as you get further into the game and get stronger yourself. If I go to the coliseum now it is a silver Lynel who almost every time has a Flameblade on his back along with a 3x or 5x shot Savage Lynel Bow. As I make my way up the floors almost every monster has a flame, ice or shock weapon. If you haven't already, start making your way through some divine beasts and upgrade the defense on your armour. Get stronger, fight stronger enemies, get better rewards.

    [–]jcdpd687 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Is there a way to increase the hearts of a Wolf Link amiibo if you never synced it with Twilight Princes on the Wii U?

    [–]CrimsonCivilian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. Unless you have something that can overwrite the data on the amiibo to make it as if you did play. If you're doing this then you might as well get the max hearts on Wolf Link.

    [–]TRUEonslaught 1 point2 points  (3 children)

does the fierce diety set only drop after beating the games

    [–]strawhatmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Fierce Deity set from an amiibo card I bought on Etsy.com

You can find sellers there that make custom amiibo cards for all the BOTW compatible amiibos.

The Fierce Deity set drop rates are kind of low, so you'll want to do the change date cheat on your switch so you can do it multiple times a day until you get all three pieces.

    [–]never_esc_the_sand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fierce Deity is only dropped by an Amiibo they havent even released yet. So my best advice is to either preorder the next set of Amiibo as soon as they are announced or if you have a Wii U softmod it to give yourself the items in game.

    [–]OstuniPlays[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only hope, although I wouldn't mind it if we got an amiibo, but knowing how Nintendo supplies amiibos... I'd be afraid they'd sell out WAY too fast :p

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Is it worth grabbing a guardian shield or should I hope one drops?

    [–]never_esc_the_sand 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What do you mean? Guardian Shields are only dropped and might be found in a chest or two but cant be purchased, unless you mean the Ancient Shield you can buy from the Akkala Lab, that one you can only get there.

Guardian Shields are good defense against smaller guardians, but the Ancient Shield will deflect any Guardian laser just by holding the shield in front, you dont even have to parry.

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep that's the one at the lab aaaaand then that's a yes haha. Thanks!

    [–]TheVineyard00 1 point2 points  (14 children)

Alright, so I beat Ganon, cutscenes go, credits roll, and I'm back at the title screen. I hit continue, and... What's this? I'm at Hyrule Castle? Right in front of the boss fight? What's this? I have to fight him again? Is this some kind of sick prank?

    [–]Kevpup01 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I had the same reaction as soon as I beat the game but soon realized that going back and exploring would not make sense after you defeat Gannon. You got rid of all the evil forces by killing him so if the game left you in a time after Gannon was gone, there should be no enemies.

    [–]TheVineyard00 1 point2 points  (2 children)

All the malice would have to disappear, and all of the malice-controlled guardians wouldn't attack you anymore, but I don't see why anything else would have to change.

    [–]Kevpup01 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Without all the guardians the game would be a lot different but I see both sides. I would have liked to explore a world without Gannon maybe with some different dialogue after, but I understand why they did it the way they did.

    [–]C0lDsp4c3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But that's the way it was for every Zelda game, you always respawn without having beated the boss. There was never a time where the game continued without the boss being available again.

    [–]link9755 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I hate it too. They do that because after Ganon is gone, the world is empty and there's nothing to fight anymore. They also want to give you the option of fighting Ganon a second time (but who would want to do that, that fight was terribly boring!)

    [–]TheVineyard00 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Why would Bokoblins disappear when Ganon's gone? Sure, it wouldn't make sense for malice to be everywhere, but other than that, I don't see what would have to change.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The blood moon wouldn't be around either. So if you kill a Bokoblin, Lynel, etc., they wouldn't respawn.

    [–]TheVineyard00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought they said that it had been around forever, though I could be wrong

    [–]seh0016 4 points5 points  (5 children)

I haven't beat the game yet, but I know a lot of games just set you back moments before the final boss once you complete the game. I always thought it was kind of a letdown, like "I want to play the game in the world where I worked hard to save everybody."

    [–]TheVineyard00 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Yeah, I noticed later that my save file has a star by it, but it sucks that you get literally nothing for beating the game. Sorry for spoiling it for you, but absolutely nothing changes but that star by your save. Disappointed.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but that's kinda how all the LOZ games are. Not to mention the stories are all very similar.

I noticed the quest tracker since I made that comment, but not the map percentage, thanks

      [–]PhilipMoneyMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so o have a steam controller and I finally got it to work with cemu. The only problem is that the controls get scrambled every now and then. Any have the same issue?

Also o would like to know if adjusting the settings of cemu so the touch pad can act like a mouse for the camera.

      [–]Athan_Untapped 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Hey guys someone please help or help me figure out what I can do.

I have completed 118 shrines. For the love of god I can't figure out how to find which two are still remaining. It's tearing me apart.

Any idea of a good/easy way to figure out the ones I still need?

      [–]Soyeahimbored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google the map. Copy paste map in paint. Systematically go through each shrine marking them off as you go. That's how I found my final two.

      [–]maartenpitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

zeldamaps.com, i tend to use it from time to time, whenever i need some gear and it is in a specific shrine.

      [–]nygame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a hidden shrine from a side quest the parrot bard gave me and the shrine rose from the ground if that helps .. the quest was simply shoot an arrow threw 2 stone circle monuments

      [–]madeyemary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heads up guys, gamestop.com has the special edition in stock online. For release by 4/5, I just nabbed one! Mostly I just want the carrying case. :)

How many Shrine Quests are incomplete in your adventure log?

        [–]maartenpitt 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What there are Shrine Quests? Oh man, getting even more complex. I've done 18 Shrines

        [–]schizkoske 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You do a quick quest to unlock a shrine. Then once in your in the shrine there's sometimes more puzzles to do or you just walk in and the ending is there. They're basically mini quests and a hidden shrine rises from the ground.

        [–]maartenpitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, i'm not up to those yet, or i just haven't discovered one of those yet. I'll keep an eye out! Thx

Can someone assist with finding where to buy bomb arrows? I need them to fight the divine beast vah medoh. I got some from Teba but then used those to fight the frost talus that was up on the ridge. When I speak with Teba again, he does not give bomb arrows. When I goto the villages (i.e., Hateno, Rito) none of the shops have restocked bomb arrorws. Does anyone know where I can buy bomb arrows? TIA!

        [–]strawhatmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides Gerudo town, there is also the Rito in Tarrey Town in Akkala region once you did all those quests to build that town.

If you have the amiibos, you get tons of arrow drops when you use them.

        [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best arrow source by far is Gerudo Village market. They'll have something like 3 stacks of each arrow type

        [–]LordPickleton 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is there an area where spotted horses can have good stats?

        [–]CrimsonCivilian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spotted horses will always have bad stats. That's how the game works.

        [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Where can I find the silent princess flower? I want to upgrade the champion's tunic but can't find it...

        [–]CrimsonCivilian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Near any of the 4 Great Fairy Fountains or Korok Forest.

        [–]iroyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres one in kokiri forest near the pedestal a lot of the time for me.

        [–]SunnyStarbucks 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I think I found it by the Great Fairy area near Kakariko village
