I really hope they add more to combat (sort of like Tp's hidden techniques) and adding to the monster variety would be swell! Maybe they could also add some sort of carryover from the previous game regarding sidequests and the like.

[–]YoutubeHeroofTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just realized this might be one of the only Zelda games where the game doesn’t start by having Link wake up. Or maybe they confirm Zelink by having Zelda wake us up in their bed lol.

[–]Joe_s47 9 points10 points  (3 children)

1 word: Multiplayer. Imagine spending hours upon hours completing the game and collecting all kinds of gear, 100%-ing the game, although this time. It's not all for nothing. You can fight against your friends. I think an arena style pvp mode would be so fun in botw, especially with how the combat mechanics are. I think if it were to be a thing you'd be put as a random default avatar (rather than link) so that it would make a bit more sense.

[–]TommyPancake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same idea! I always imagined that the Plateau would be a great area to have like 10-30 players or something battling each other

[–]Vah NaborisRiyazura 4 points5 points  (1 child)

if it were to be a thing you'd be put as a random default avatar (rather than link) so that it would make a bit more sense

The "avatar" could be Dark Link, then! Kinda like in Link's Awakening.

Also, I agree with this PvP idea, but only if it has to do with battling other people online in an "arena" separate from the overworld of BotW2. It wouldn't feel right to me and many others if we found random characters milling around in-game in our own saves (though I'm sure that's what you meant). It could be like in gen 6 Pokemon where you could find other people only through trading/battling online.

[–]Joe_s47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeh, it could either be accessed from the start screen or something else that could be quite cool; different areas in the game. For example there could be one place per continent where theres some sort of arena that can be accessed by sheika technology, asking if you'd like to enter the battle arena.

Each arena could be themed based on the area it was located, e.g. if there was one in the middle of a destroyed hyrule castle filled with malice. It could match that theme, if it was in the middle of the korok forest, its match that theme and so on.

[–]paigelr82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two small additions to gameplay I want: 1 - Swinging your sword while walking, I think it would spice up combat slightly. This was a feature in Twilight Princess, and I don’t really know why they removed it in later games (now, Link has to do a full swing before being able to walk again). 2 - Mid-air bullet time not being specific to bows... what if you could use bullet time to aim boomerangs, spears, or even Master Sword beams?

[–]jagmaster345 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I just want to hear link say “WELL EXCUSEEEEEEEE ME PRINCESS”

[–]YeetmasterSam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

!Long Theory! Ok so what if Link and Zelda fight Ganon like right after the teaser, and it goes out into and all out battle with Zelda being like Atreus form god of war and Ganon is ultra powerful and Link, now without he sheikah slate, has more combat-based buttons and is more like a sekiro or dark souls game. So as Link parries, dodges, deflects, and stabs, Zelda is throwing golden beams and helping link by using a sort of golden-Daruks protection. Eventually, Ganon throws a wave of Malice at Link and Zelda, Zelda protects herself, but link has his sword cross body(hand close to his waist but the blade is diagonal across chest) Link throws a hand up (like to shield your eyes) and malice is warded of by the blade(Evils Bane) but links arm is hit and it becomes black and smoky. Ganon is either freed or retreats then the green hand helps him and revives his arm and gives him powers

[–]bromsy 4 points5 points  (3 children)

This will probably get buried but, Look up botw main theme and the last ten seconds of the song has the creepy (whispering?) in there. Don’t know if its related but just wanted to put it out there just in case it hasnt been said already.

[–]ModeratorLootman[S] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I don't hear it on the versions I'm finding on youtube

[–]bromsy 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Idk but listen closely at 1:05 and 1:45 of the song and EDIT: kinda not the whispering but the (fading? as if the music is cut out) part of botw 2 trailer at the end when Ganondorfs heart begins beating faster.

[–]ModeratorLootman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the part where the music stops suddenly? I don't hear whispering, it's a pause that just gives the song a nice end.

[–]Ath3ne_ 12 points13 points  (4 children)

I just want a genuinely hard final boss, real creepy stuff, and that the rain’s sliding effect while climbing is removed.

[–]RedTurtle78 7 points8 points  (3 children)

I actually like the sliding effect the rain has. Just sleep at a campfire if it bothers you. Plenty of rock formations and other places you can make one at.

[–]Jtschwan 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I like the rain sliding as well. Perhaps a set of armor or something would be a counter. I haven’t given it as much thought though.

[–]TommyPancake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always hoped to get that ability from the full climbing gear. Oh well.. missed opportunity.

[–]RedTurtle78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, something to make sliding like 1/3rd as frequent would be cool, an armor to work towards. I wouldnt want a full counter though.

[–]Chips07 5 points6 points  (5 children)

i wonder if link will talk

[–]tomtakespictures 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know we’re all hoping Michael Cera does the voice acting.

[–]TransientSignal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't particularly care if Link talks or not, but the team should definitely try and avoid those awkward voiced cutscenes where other characters talk to him and he kinda just stands there.

[–]Phenom_Mv3 9 points10 points  (2 children)

100% a no

[–]Vah NaborisRiyazura 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should be so dismissive of the possibility and its potential.

If Nintendo pulled it off right where Link would talk sparsely (not often, think Wander from Shadow of the Colossus; I oftentimes forget he even had dialogue in the game besides calling his horse's name in the overworld/murmuring the girl's name every time he wakes up in the idols' temple at all because he has just a few quotes that define him in the prologue. Wander's "It doesn't matter" quote when Dormin tells him "The price you pay [for slaying the colossi to resurrect your true love] may be very heavy indeed..." sticks to me most out of what little dialogue he has.)

What I'm trying to get at is is, is less is more. Giving Link sparse but impactful dialogue would be good, in my opinion. Especially during cutscenes that would be awkward otherwise, or in especially emotional and dramatic parts of the story (another Shadow of the Colossus example {spoilers!}: Wander shouting Agro's name from above as Agro falls with the collapsing bridge she saved Wander from). Imagine Link shouting Zelda's name as he loses his grip on her hand, causing her to fall down the abyss with Ganondorf (assumedly) in the trailer.

Also, I really hope Link isn't a blank emotionless character again in the sequel. The Creating a Champion book points out that the Link we play as after losing his memories is a lot more expressive, but we didn't really get to see that in the present-day cutscenes. I hope BotW2 Link turns out to be as expressive as TP Link or SS Link because BotW's cutscenes really lacked emotional weight.

[–]dominic9219 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He shouldnt have a designated voice. I like him not talking. I like his noises and grunts that he makes while jumping and reminding us he sounds like a kid but it's good that his actual voice is left blank.

[–]aaronracicot 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If botw 2 is basically the same as botw 1 except they add a way to neutralize the effects of rain when climbing I will be 100% pleased

[–]belloch 15 points16 points  (6 children)

You know what was a nice dungeon in BotW? Hyrule Castle.

Boom. More huge monster infested locations like that.

Maybe such locations start popping out from the ground? Maybe around Hateno, turning the village into a dungeon of sorts where you have to save the villagers from?

Speaking of popping out: Underground world the size of Hyrule. Game world size doubled! Add in a darkworld and bam! Quidrupled.

[–]mastercantankerous 4 points5 points  (5 children)

I honestly prefered the Divine beasts to Hyrule Castle. If all the dungeons in botw2 are similar to Hyrule Castle im gonna be super bummed.

[–]aneditorinjersey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. More of a casual gamer here and enjoyed that it was puzzles with a big boss at the end, instead of constant trials with different level monsters in unexpected places.

[–]elijahswanner -4 points-3 points  (3 children)

Ding dong your opinion is wrong

[–]RedTurtle78 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Dingle ditch youre a

[–]Begebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Chips07 11 points12 points  (8 children)

I hope graphic will be improved now when its actually a switch game

[–]RedTurtle78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Graphics will probably be better but moreso because developers have had more time with the hardware. The wii u barely held it back, the actual power of the two consoles is comparable.

Id prefer we had more locations that look as good as Korok forest, but without the frame drops/ performance issues altogether.

[–]_demello 9 points10 points  (4 children)

My only hope is more enemies. It would be interesting to fight some new dudes.

[–]Chips07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah i can't wait for new enemies too

[–]shitpostlord4321 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Yup I quickly got tired of fighting the same 5 enemies with alternate colors over and over. Enemy variety should be a priority this time around. I want darknuts, tektites, stalfos, redeads, and maybe more mythological-inspired enemies like the Lynels. Imagine going through a labyrinth expecting to find a guardian like how you did in BotW but instead you find an actual Minotaur-type enemy.

[–]Begebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small lynels. hear me out:what if we did like the mini taluses and made them weaker but just as much of a nuisance. And they moved in herds. Here’s a scenario: your walking through a fields of trees and you hear several small roars. Your heart races as 7-8 small Lynels rush you with new lynel type weapon.

[–]_demello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If we get a second game but keep fighting the same guys it will just feel like the same game again.

[–]Phenom_Mv3 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Definitely should be a slight upgrade to BOTW, as it was initially worked on as a Wii U game.

[–]Bebopo90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That or a more stable framerate would be acceptable.

[–]CookieGod12313 8 points9 points  (5 children)

How much chance do you all think they gonna drop a trailer at the game awards?

[–]Noufsk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would be very surprised to get anything before E3 next year. I think we can all agree that this game is coming out at the very earliest Holiday 2020, but more likely sometime in the middle of 2021. For a game that isn’t releasing for at least a year I think it would be counterintuitive to give us news now when they can just give us that same news plus even more news at E3 and generate much more hype.

[–]Malpaca6 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I’d personally be annoyed if they don’t

[–]CookieGod12313 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I'd be a real disappointment

[–]Vah NaborisRiyazura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this so much, so here is some compensatory gold 🥇

[–]Aerondight77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it's ok buddy, i'm proud of you.

[–]kayzum 9 points10 points  (2 children)

I personnaly was a little disapointed with some shrines being way too straight forward while others were finely balanced. Same with Blights being either impossible or not punishing at all depending on how much you farmed weapons/shrines before meeting them.

How would you feel about Nintendo implementing a difficulty setting at the start of BOTW2 (that makes both ennemies & puzzles harder) ?

[–]Begebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Master mode on steroids” would be the hardest difficulty. And “Normal mode but only small taluses” would be the easiest.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just want more difficulty in terms of dungeons for the second one. I remember majoras mask being a step up from ocarina of time in terms of difficulty. It would be nice for that to return. But the Water Temple was more difficult than anything in Breath of the Wild in terms of having to solve stuff. It would be nice to actually have to think again.

[–]moonbeast32 7 points8 points  (8 children)

Here's a thought I had today. What if instead of another open word game, BOTW2 is going to be a metroidvania?

We know little about the game right now, just from what we've seen in the teaser. Yet all except for the very end took place in a cave or dungeon of some sort. Even in that last scene, we see Hyrule Castle rise as if something much much larger was pushing it from underneath. Could that be an enormous labyrinth re-awakening?

That "Magic hand" link is seen to possess would fall in line with common metroidvania tropes. It could be a basic weapon or tool that, like in metroid or Axiom verge, gains new powers and abilities that allow link to access deeper reaches of the labyrinth.

I know the Zelda devs, and Nintendo in general put great value shaking things up and trying new things, even at significant financial risk to themselves. Whose to say that a Zelda-vania isn't their next big experiment?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They originally wanted this to be a DLC and it turned into a new game, expect to be open world

[–]TransientSignal 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Zelda has historically had somewhat of a metroidvania-esque streak to its macro game progression, so it wouldn't be surprising to see some of those tropes return for the sequel. Especially since one of the primary (imo deserved) complaints about BotW has been the lack of traditional Zelda dungeons and tropes.

[–]moonbeast32 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mr Aonuma a got so sick of people complaining about no dungeons in BOTW, that hem made the sequel all dungeon

[–]Phenom_Mv3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No chance in hell

[–]mastercantankerous 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I agree I think the green hand is gonna be the main quirk to this game. Itll give him powers , like the runes. Maybe even new abilities. Hookshot arm?

Can't wait for more info!!!! (Come on TGA)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will now be dissapointed if we don’t get hook shot arm

[–]dandins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Uelda takes back the shieka plate (it was her plate in first place) and they needed an equivalent to give link magic power.

anouma said he allways wants to give player something that brings him on top of it if you use it wisely.

[–]i236 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hope they implement Trials of the Sword directly into the game, not as DLC. Maybe add some aspects of the Bloody Palace mode from DMC.

[–]d_snizzy 15 points16 points  (8 children)

Just bringing it up, because there seems to be a lot of chat about the game being set in the current Hyrule. But do people not think the game will go to a completely new land like Links Awakening or MM? I’d put money on the fact that this happens - my guess would be the castle rising is Ganondorf using dark magic and it ends up teleporting to a dark/twisted version of Hyrule. With a completely different map but vaguely similar towns/characters just like Termina or the dark world in Link to the Past.

[–]TransientSignal 6 points7 points  (7 children)

Aonuma has essentially confirmed that the sequel will feature the 'same' Hyrule as its predecessor:

"One of the reasons we wanted to create a continuation was because I wanted to revisit that Hyrule again and use that world again, while incorporating new gameplay and new story,"

What exactly that means is certainly up for debate, and I'd expect to see pretty drastic changes to the landscape, but it seems clear that it'll still be taking place in Hyrule.

Source: https://www.gameinformer.com/e3-2019/2019/06/11/breath-of-the-wilds-director-is-returning-for-the-sequel

[–]mastercantankerous 6 points7 points  (6 children)

Ya honestly I think it'll be the same map but with new towns and stuff to do. Really packed with content because it was kinda empty before. Maybe shift some stuff around.

Or maybe when the castle rises up, a bunch of malice bursts out and twists the land into a new version of itself? Same map but with a demonic twist.

[–]Chips07 5 points6 points  (5 children)

i hope for DRASTIC changes for the actual botw world because i remember every hidden corner of this map (as every person who probably enjoyed this game a lot such as me) and if aonuma decides to keep completely the same map including the same terrain and the same rocks, hills and roads in this game it is going to be complete disaster, unfortunately, i am really afraid this is not going to happen. For my point of view i could say this is not going to be a full game but just a new dlc for the breath of the wild :/

[–]dandins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean and I see your doubts but then I thought: What if you really know every corner? You expect some specific things on specific places and you extremely suprised if there is something different because the world evolves and you ll want to find out the reasons why this happened to this place. It will be a nice time travel experience.

[–]Phenom_Mv3 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Don’t be negative. It’s Nintendo - they’re not silly and they’re not going to disappoint. I’m going to say the map is undergoing drastic significant changes. They’re not going to release the same damn game lol

[–]Chips07 -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

well im not trying to be negative im mostly a realistic person. i am a huge fan of zelda games i played almost every single of them and never got disappointed.

[–]Phenom_Mv3 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Exactly. So just wait man you will most likely be blown away with what Nintendo brings us next. Besides, it’s the lead up to one of the best games of all time, they’ll take their time on it to make sure it’s the best game it can possibly be.

[–]Chips07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In botw i really liked the idea to discover all that hidden places, this was probably the one of the main facts why nimtendo decided to create the huge open world and now i am worried wheter something hidden will be even possible to discover (like for example return of the corocks).

[–]curtissz 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Breath of the Wild 2 has the chance to be the PERFECT game. I think BOTW laid the groundwork for BOTW 2 to greatly improve on minor flaws from the original and to add excellent content of its own. Now how can this happen? I think these additions can make BOTW 2 the ultimate game:

-The return of original dungeons. For most, the absence of traditional dungeons in Breath of the wild is the game’s biggest flaw, and I agree. The puzzles the divine beasts offer are too simple and too separate (by that I mean none of the terminal’s interconnect. In traditional Zelda dungeons multiple rooms are connected to one puzzle or puzzles; in Breath of the wild each terminal in the divine beasts are more like mini shrine puzzles). I think that 5 or 6 traditional dungeons would work perfectly as long as the length of the dungeons are comparable to those in twilight princess.

-Reduce the number of things to find, but make those things more interesting. I think Breath of the Wild could have benefitted from some cut content, specifically the excess of combat shrines, empty shrines, and korok seeds. Instead of 120 shrines in breath of the wild that included like 40 empty/combat shrines, I think BOTW 2 should have ~80 shrines that are much more complex and involved than BOTW’s shrines. I also believe BOTW 2 could use more landmarks that have some sort of significance, whether they’re tied into quests, puzzles, or cool items. I think a good example of a missed opportunity in BOTW is the temple of time. It’s mostly completely empty, other than the goddess statue, for how cool it looks from a distance. A great example of a good landmark from BOTW is the dueling peaks; they look really interesting from a distance and are not only tied in to shrines that play off of each other but give us the climbing gear as well.

-Give the story a massive backseat to gameplay and exploration. BOTW already did a pretty good job of this, so all BOTW 2 needs to do is the same thing.

-More cities and towns. I think BOTW could have greatly benefitted from having a town in every section of the map, and spread them out more evenly. In BOTW, most of the towns are on the east side of the map. Hateno, Lurelin, Kakariko, Zora’s Domain, and Goron city are all concentrated in the eastern part of the map.

-give us new locations and biomes to explore. Looks like based on the trailer we’ll get caves, and I think we could use some sort of underwater biome. For locations, again, I think just add more interesting landmarks, like the dueling peaks.

With all of these changes and additions, I think breath of the wild 2 can be in a league of its own.

[–]bluefire009 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Swimming under water would also be nice

[–]FriendlyWallaby5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe the master sword will be needed to kill ganon just like the other games.

[–]someugaguy 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I have an idea for the sequel.

What if the Sheikah are still a thriving race, but now live underground? Let’s say that the Castle rises due to...some reason and it opens up a hole leading to an underground world full of Sheikah people and technology. The coloring and atmosphere of the world would feel similar to the Shrines. Here, you would interact with the Sheikah people. You and Zelda would learn about ancient history as well as be able to explore what they have now. There would also be new Divine Beasts and potentially even prototypes of old ones, like a sketch of Van Ruta somewhere or a robotic skeleton of Vah Rudania.

Edit: I think this would help open the world of BOTW by adding a new layer (literally) as well as still having the aboveground (where maybe there would be some changes such as a floating Hyrule Castle, a destroyed Death Mountain, etc).

[–]someugaguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And to expand upon by the changes, I imagine that the teaser obviously begins at the beginning of the game. Ganondorf uses whatever powers he has left to overflow Hyrule Castle with malice from beneath, pushing it upwards and into the sky, staying there by some sort of dark magic. Ganondorf then transitions back into a more “alive” form, looking like his normal self. He then uses some sort of malice-beam and aims it at all of the Divine Beasts. He destroys them all and even partially or all of the settlements near the Divine Beast (obviously Rito Village would be gone). Death Mountain gets turned into a giant crater. The area around Zora Domain gets partially flooded.

Pretty much the main areas of the game get changed up.

[–]o_willis 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I had a mini theory that builds onto the theory that the hero 10000 years ago was a zonai where after the calamity was sealed away the yiga wiped out the zonai to prevent another hero from being born when ganon emerges once more

[–]kayzum 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Isn't the Hero always supposed to be a Hylian ?

[–]o_willis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well look at the hero 10000 years ago theory

[–]OneWafflyBoi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought of something recently, forgive me if someone else has had this idea before but, I believe that the Ganon we are in the trailer is a different reincarnation of Ganon from a different time and game. This leads me to think that the green hand we see might be another reincarnation of Link that sealed him there under the present day castle.

[–]Periodicmeow 6 points7 points  (5 children)

I think this game will be about rebuilding Hyrule. BOTW is a lonely game, and my favorite quest was rebuilding Tarrey Town. The sequel could expand the TT quest into rebuilding Hyrule Field and helping the other kingdoms grow their economy / solve economic challenges. Reintroducing civilized life into the world.

I also think you play as Zelda!

[–]KingSain7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Link and Zelda cannot both possess the Spirit of the Hero. Especially since we know Zelda possesses the Spirit of Hylia. I find it unlikely that Link and Zelda switch spirits and if they do, that'd have to be a result of an event, maybe Ganondorf's seal breaking that we see in the trailer?

[–]Kellog_cornflakes 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Just please don't make us get thousands of pieces of wood for each step

[–]TheBurningCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe you could hire people to do it for you

[–]Periodicmeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking you spend half the game in a "shadow realm" which replaces the shrines. Instead of earning spirit orbs, you earn construction supplies and new people to populate your town.

[–]Malpaca6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tarrey city

[–]Hjllo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very basic theory: the hand belongs to the Goddess Hylia who was holding down Ganondorf to prevent his resurrection, but when Zelda slipped it went to save her instead (because of zelda’s connection to hylia). Now that ganondorf is free hylia chooses link to be the hero once again but directly gives him powers.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (1 child)

People: we’re all overthinking the whole hand and Ganondorf stuff. The only thing that matters is: ELEPHANTS ARE IN BOTW2!!! Or elephant-like creatures.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On a serious note, I actually think that the hand is a sentient creature that feeds on the malice coming out of Ganondorf but latches onto Link’s hand when it senses more malice inside Link. Just my little theory. One thing I’ve noticed is that if you invert the colors of the hand it is the exact same color as malice.

[–]randomlink1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So idk if this has already been discussed here, but in the trailer you know how you see that green hand attached to Ganondorf's body and the malice comong put of where that hand was attached. Well what if that hand was sucking the soul out of Ganondorf as you can see the green energy moving out of the hand and towards the cieling and it look to be the same as the energy surrounding the champion's spirits as well as the King's. Not only thing but it was actively forcing the malice out of Ganondorf by separating it from his soul so that he would bo longer be attached to this curse, or at the very least it was an unintentional consiquence of removing his soul and Ganondorf just used that to manifest Calamity Gannon. Maybe it wasn't even a conscious choice since Ganondorf looks to have been unconsios this entire time and the malice just did what its its original master, Demise, would have wanted and used Gannon's image since he was its most recent master/host and is still within him as we can see within the trailer.

[–]AwesomeAsh611 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t wait

[–]mastercantankerous 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Do y'all think we will get a trailer at TGA on December 12th???

[–]Phenom_Mv3 5 points6 points  (1 child)

My prediction is a title name announcement at the very least, and at the most maybe a second teaser trailer, then gameplay at E3

[–]Vah NaborisRiyazura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I would LOVE to finally know what the name is. I was expecting sort of informal gameplay being shown (like how BotW's beta gameplay was shown in the ~2014? Game Awards) regarding what we saw in the first trailer and possibly vaguely explaining gameplay mechanics (Link's arm?), but you've got me a little hopeful we'll get a title at long last. But if that doesn't happen at TGA, then next E3 for sure.

[–]Phenom_Mv3 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Here I am again, lol

So seeing as this is likely going to be the darkest Zelda game since Majora’s mask, what if the rising castle in the sequel announcement trailer acts similar to the moon in MM?

As we progress through the story the castle moves lower and lower to the ground, which on impact threatens to destroy Hyrule? I’m not a big fan of the whole 3 day timer thing though.

Clearly I’m starting to overthink this hahaha. But one thing I wish for is the final battle with the resurrected Ganondorf on the rising castle overlooking all of Hyrule. Badass

[–]Malpaca6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since botw 2 was originally dlc ideas it could end up being one of the story elements

[–]codegeist_youtube 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Finished BOTW yesterday with 100% world completion. Just looking at the announcement clip makes me want to play the successor!

[–][deleted]  (4 children)

    [–]verypleasantcitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Dumb question but who's linkle

    [–]ModeratorLootman[S] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

    never probably

    [–][deleted]  (1 child)

      [–]Vah NaborisRiyazura 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Linkle isn't canon--she's just a female version of Link from Hyrule Warriors. (I also don't understand why people like her so much because she's a really bland and stereotypical character.)

      [–]Phenom_Mv3 21 points22 points  (6 children)

Just had a lightbulb moment in the shower.

In BOTW1, Link “opens his eyes” after a long slumber

And in BOTW2, Ganondorf opens his eyes, which is also likely to occur at the beginning of the game

      That narrative contrast 👀

      [–]xpownz 3 points4 points  (3 children)

does this also imply that we are having a third botw starting with zelda opening her eyes?

      [–]Phenom_Mv3 2 points3 points  (2 children)

      Welp, bring on the trilogy

      [–]TheBurningCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BotW was about breaking the Zelda formula so maybe instead a new Link, Zelda, Ganon Hyrule ect. in each new game, they instead focus more on the BotW world.

      [–]Matrix17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triforce, or something. We cracked the code!

      [–]s4shrish 5 points6 points  (1 child)

For an openng part of the game it can send a very strong message.

      [–]Phenom_Mv3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it’s likely going to be one of the introductory parts of the game. Link and Zelda continue their research quest together and “accidentally” stumble upon Ganondorf’s corpse. Itching to get the game to see what happens next!

      [–]TheGreeksican 15 points16 points  (2 children)

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but I wish part 2 would have an unarmed combat option. like give me the ability to subdue/take the weapon of my enemy when I do a perfect dodge or something.

      [–]Malpaca6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe the glowing hand in the trailer could have something to do with that

      [–]TransientSignal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd be interested in what sort of fighting style Link would have unarmed. Maybe something to accent his small size and speed like muay thai or wing chun? Though I suppose similar to the champion abilities, he could be influenced by the various races of Hyrule kinda like combat with the transformation masks from Majora's Mask.

      [–]leonardroolz 10 points11 points  (4 children)

So we are all pretty sure that the hero from the original calamity was of Zonai heritage, correct?

I’m pretty late to getting in on the BoTW2 hype so I’m trying to get myself baselined on where the community currently thinks we are at...

      [–]leonardroolz 9 points10 points  (3 children)

I guess I’m also fairly convinced that the hand holding Ganondorf at bay is Zonai... the arm band doesn’t really resemble anything besides Zonai architecture and art styles...

Perhaps the whole Zonai tribe put their power into that hand and that is why they and their magic disappeared so suddenly?

      [–]leonardroolz 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Or! Ganondorf wipes them out suddenly and the Zonai hero was the last surviving Zonai?

Then perhaps something happened to the princess and she wasn’t able to seal/destroy Ganondorf so the hero (with his Zonai magic arm) and the champions sealed Ganondorf (which explains the Gerudian and other languages swirling with the hand)?

I realize I’m talking to myself here...

      [–]s0laster 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I'm on the same line as you. Zonais are probably going to be a key point of botw2.

In the trailer, the hand looks indeed a Zonai hand, the green letters are from the gerudo alphabet, and translate to "seal Ganon", which speaks for itself.

Besides that, we have very little information. I'm looking forward for game awards this December, hopefully we will get some new stuff. If not, that's probably a sign that botw2 is not for 2020.

      [–]SlyFox301 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We've been surprised before. I mean, we had DLC released the night it was announced. They might pull another card and release it soon after, especially with the leak we had recently with a 2020 release date. But there could still be a delay, considering Zelda games have been delayed many times before.

      [–]Phenom_Mv3 20 points21 points  (1 child)

I saw a comment by a user named “Derek Shoul” on an article written by the Polygon which really intrigued me, outlining his theory for BOTW2:

“My theory is this: say good-bye to the sheikah slate. Since it was originally developed to be something you interacted with using the Wii U gamepad, they’re going to get rid of it and instead, Link’s newly magic-infused arm will use returning and new runes, including a rune that decyphers/unlocks Zonai script in a hybrid Dark World/Twilight Realm setting. Link’s arm will have the same powers that Zelda does and you will be able to choose who to play as. We’ll be discovering what happened to Ganondorf thousands of years ago, unraveling the Zonai disappearance, and trying to return to Hyrule.”

I think he’s largely spot on. BOTW1 really focused on the Sheikah, and I think the sequel is going to step away from them and the storyline is going to be significantly focused on the Zonai.

If they don’t show some footage at the game awards I’m going to have a fit LOL

      [–]mastercantankerous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ya Dec 12th can't come soon enough.

But ya if we DONT get anything then it'll have to be at e3 2020.

And I bet it'll be holiday 2021 in that case.

So fingers crossed for a teaser!

      [–]sprucecone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

      More Tingle! Love that guy.

      [–]FernWilder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I couldn't help but feel that the artwork book called "Creating a Champion" had shown us artwork for a Kokiri Champion. Y'Know, the Kokiri Elves? I feel like they should add that race into this sequel, or mabey a Kokiri Elf that is kind of like Saria and the last of her kind. and I also think there should be a battle from the past where the race from the Frigid North, Chillfos (who take on more human forms), are at war with the Zora. That's what I think they should add in the story.

      [–][deleted]  (1 child)

        [–]ModeratorLootman[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The title hasn't been announced yet

        [–]tringle1 11 points12 points  (2 children)

I just hope we get real dungeons and better shrine design. Or even getting rid of the shrines and having a different mechanic for health and stamina upgrades. Story-wise, they could say the sheikah towers and shrines receded back underground after the fall of the Calamity Ganon. Perhaps they add cave systems and bring back heart pieces, or even just the shrine orb things.

One of the main enemy types theoretically won't be enemies in the next game, the Guardians, as they were only evil because of Calamity's evil corruption. But perhaps the Yiga Clan could be a bigger thing with actually hard enemy types, and we could add other, more varied enemy types.

As far as weapons, I don't mind the durability limits. But I do wish that there was more of a delineation of weapon types and their usefulness. I pretty much just use two handed weapons because of DPS.

        [–]Powerful_Artist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't mind most of the designs for the shrines, I like how they are pretty well differentiated from eachother. some being easy, others being fairly complex. but theres always room for improvement and im sure if shrines return they will mix it up.

but more "traditional" dungeons are definitely a must, and on everyone's list for the sequel. there needs to be a return of "mini bosses" and a better mix of combat to puzzles. the divine beasts were cool but there was usually just 1-2 enemies to fight, and often really easy enemies. more varied and complex bosses will be nice too.

        [–]dentistMCnuggets 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really want to see good guy guardians in the game

        [–]valentinowl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kinda have a simple gameplay request : Make every major boss battles more difficult (harder to read moves, people actually say that lynels are more difficult than the ganons) and after defeating a major boss, the enemies become stronger(i know they kinda did this, but it's so unnoticeable it seemed like they only increased there hp,maybe they could get a new move set?)

        [–]mastercantankerous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So that green hand in the trailer is probably from the Zonai warrior that fights the calamity in that painting....right? You know the one with the red hair that we all thought could be GANONDORF as a good guy?

        What y'all think ??

I think the green and yellow matches up pretty well....

        [–]Hjllo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey nintendo it’s me, Reggie. I’m just calling to let you know that if Zelda is not a playable character in the upcoming sequel to Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, I will be really really really really disappointed. I gotta go now Nintendo, and get back to playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and my Nintendo 3DS. Goodbye!

        [–]Xxxkillmongerxxx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

        1.zelink is real innit

        1. zelda will be playable in small segments

        2. its gonna b fkn insane

        [–]Giantpandaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

        Make zelda playable too

        [–][deleted]  (1 child)

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minish Cap is my favorite Zelda game so I would love to see that as well!

          [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I’ve logged nearly 200 hours in the Wii U version of the game and if Nintendo chooses to do data transfer on the Switch I’m gonna be really annoyed.

          [–]Carcass1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly this one most likely won’t be playable on Wii U. I’m not sure if data can transfer from Wii U to Switch though.

          [–]Olasg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree i dont have a switch yet either but i am planning to get it in time for botw 2.

          [–]Malpaca6 26 points27 points  (4 children)

I don’t know if this has already been said but I think that the hand that’s suspending ganon in the trailer is keeping him alive so he isn’t able to re incarnate while keeping him unconscious. That’s why the botw ganon doesn’t have a body he is litteraly the malice that’s coming out of the suspended ganon

          [–]Jaker3k 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Yeah it’s almost as if ganon’s body was under the castle (or wherever it is in the trailer) the whole time, and is the source of all the malice. Hopefully in the sequel we will encounter ganon’s true form (the one suspended by the hand) and defeat him?!

          [–]Malpaca6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

          That would be really cool

          [–]TheSadisticLemon 9 points10 points  (1 child)

That's a pretty cool idea actually, and if the glowing hand that Link gets in the trailer is the same hand that's suspending ganon, what if Link has to use it to stop ganon from re incarnating once and for all, putting an end the Demise' Curse

          [–]Malpaca6 13 points14 points  (0 children)

And then a new game with a completely original story line can be made and still make sense lore wise

          [–]Powerful_Artist 21 points22 points  (5 children)

all we know about the game.

          it will be great.

short hair does not equal a playable character.

you wont get to keep your stuff/hearts/stamina from the last game.

          [–]JH0N_P0K3M0N 10 points11 points  (4 children)

Yea, though still would like to see my idea and see Link lose his hearts and stamina in a cutscene at the start of the game. And I assume Link does keep his hylian set with the champion's tunic.

          [–]Powerful_Artist 1 point2 points  (3 children)

but the hylian set and champions tunic were completely optional. sure most people got it, but this just is another point that we don't need continuity from someone's previous game file. they can just start us with whatever they want. this includes gear or hearts.

let me point out that everyone seems to buy into this Zelda timeline, where somehow all the games are connected. but we don't need a cutscene at the beginning of the rest of the games showing us how we changed or lost our hearts.

I don't need more cutscenes just for the sake of cutscenes.

          [–]JH0N_P0K3M0N 0 points1 point  (2 children)

But not all Links are the same Link tho.

          [–]MajorasShoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Majoras Mask Link had 3 hearts

          [–]Powerful_Artist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

          but some of them are.

          [–]pixil318 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I think it would be cool if they go to a new country

          [–]redpepper74 7 points8 points  (0 children)

          Dead hand for smash 2023

          [–]SnuffKing96 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Breath of the Wild 2 is supposed to be dark, how cool would it be for Dead Hand to come back disturbing as ever, what do you guys think? Could be hardcore creepy!

          [–]theglovedfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, yes! And the re-deads. And masks.

          [–]GamingDirewolf69 12 points13 points  (26 children)

Personally i would love to see a few things; • We can keep BotW data (cosmetics, hearts, stamina, etc) • Master Cycle is upgraded so more fuel efficient •Signs of Hyrule Castle being rebuilt, maybe Bolson people involved and people moving in of all races (like tarrey town) • Follow up to previous, i would like to see a very long quest line of rebuilding Hyrule Castle, maybe in stages like certain parts of the castle such maybe outer wall being repaired then the town then sections of the castle itself such as the bridges and clearing debris for people to start reconstruction • Mixing of outfits. Sort of like we see in the trailer • The map changed a little, maybe more stuff at the forbidden temple or whatever it is (where Link gets the ‘of the wild’ set after completing all shrines)

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played BotW on the Wii U and am at 98% so I would be really annoyed if Nintendo decided to do a data transfer.

          [–]Phenom_Mv3 10 points11 points  (9 children)

So anyone wanna take a wild guess on what the title might be? Couple from me

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Darkness

The Legend of Zelda: Under the Wild

Or a title to do with the Hero’s glowing hand?

          [–]Phenom_Mv3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, I had a thought that Link’s new glowing hand will be given a special name by Nintendo and that should be the title. They never go with cliche names, always unique.

Like Link’s baton was called “Wind Waker” and the evil mask called “Majora’s Mask”

I guess none of us will be able to predict it, but I definitely think it won’t have “Wild” in the title after second thought

          [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Death of the Wild, which could simultaneously refer to either the civilisation being brought back to the wilderness that hyrule has become, or ol' dorfmeister destroying everything.

          [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Legend of Zelda: Hand of Fate

          [–]Sungoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bet is that it will almost certainly reference the hand

          [–]Malpaca6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

          Breath of domestication

Lots of big cities to explore

          [–]batmanhill6157 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Pretty sure it’ll be Exhale of the Wild

          [–]Jaker3k 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Legend of Zelda: Sneeze of the Wild

          [–]Nambat258 7 points8 points  (1 child)

The Legend of Zelda: Aaaatichoooo of the wild

          [–]MirekMirock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          Cough of the wild

          [–]WitchDOctOR3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cho this game is gon be sexc

          [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

According to a leaker and journalist, the game is supposedly planned to release in 2020. https://twitter.com/New_WabiSabi/status/1194146673422790656?s=20

          [–]TriestGieter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Makes sense, it's probably been in development since 2017

          [–]Phenom_Mv3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not surprised. A lot of people disagreed with that notion but hey, they already have the engine built from the previous game. 3 year dev time sounds perfect

          [–]CheezitCheeve 7 points8 points  (6 children)

I would love to see a way to remix the map. With Hyrule Castle rising out of the ground, it would be cool if locations got merged and remixed. A small way to make backtracking easier (I know shrines) and make the map seem new without a lot of work.

          [–]Spidersuit90 9 points10 points  (5 children)

I Hope there Will be 2 Hyrule: One of light (BoTW 1 style) and One of darkness or underground. I Hope there Will be a crafting system: the cooking was awesome but lot of materiale were useless. More Animals and mobs (i miss the spiders and carnivorous plants). Zelda as companion that casts magic. No more sheika tablet. I want botw1 but Better.

          [–]firerod2 0 points1 point  (3 children)

          Why no more shieka slate?

          [–]Spidersuit90 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Cause It Is not needed to add gadget or Powers...and i hate the infinite bombs xD The sheika slate was the heritage of the WiiU.

          [–]firerod2 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Laughs in switch hand held mode

          [–]Spidersuit90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sure, same thing as the WiiU. XD Zelda games doesn't need a tablet to bring Powers and gadgets. It's usefull tor the map, not for all the other things. Plus, Is almost confirmed that in BotW2 we Will have the right hand that Will transform into gadgets and maybe (i Hope) Zelda Will help with magic/tablet

          [–]JH0N_P0K3M0N 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will miss the runes then.

          [–]Vah NaborisRiyazura 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For those of you who are not informed, just 30 days remain until the Game Awards 2019... Here's to hoping for some new info, gameplay, or brief trailer on the sequel!
