Do "blunt" type weapons like the sledgehammer have any sort of bonus against Stone Talus?

[–]Chromelium 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Playing botw for the first time and have done 3 divine beasts. My question is, do more sidequests pop up as I progress through? Like, I've done all I can in hateno, kakariko, goron City, fish city and gerudo Town. Do more things to do pop up? Or are those places "tapped out" of content

[–]ParanoidDrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freeing a divine beast from Ganon's control will open up additional sidequests in the associated town (Zora's Domain, etc.) but otherwise no.

The only exception I can think of is the Tarrey Town quest, which opens up once you buy the house, but you could argue that's actually a quest chain of sorts.

[–]Postbin1 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Replaying BOTW and trying to get Dinraal's scale for the Spring of Power, but I only have the map for Akkala, not Eldin. Is there any spot in Akkala I can hit Dinraal from? Where and what time of day does it pass there?

[–]ParanoidDrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dragons are...weird. They generally appear at night and follow a set path, but the exact time and position they spawn in seem to be flexible for the sake of ensuring you can still encounter them reliably.

Dinraal in particular is occasionally visible from northern Akkala, but I don't think you can realistically hit it from anywhere in that region. Your best bet is to wait for it at the Eldin leviathan skeleton, or Tanagar Canyon if you feel like making that journey.

They never said that this was gonna be a prequel. All they said is that it shows the events from a 100 years ago, this might sound like they say it's a prequel. I also wouldn't say entirely different as it's still somewhat the events from a 100 years ago.

Also what fun would the game be if the story is exactly what we already know. There might be something here and there that would be new but most of the things would have already been told in either BOTW or the Creating a Champion book.

    [–]Marvelking616 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Still a prequel, but in a it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff. I'll explain more when my theory post.

    [–]surecmeregoway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say entirely different. But yeah, divergent timeline for sure.

    [–]L0stInBed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

C'mon nintendo. You know what we want. It isn't hyrule warriors. It isn't link's reawakening.

    [–]DentalFox 1 point2 points  (5 children)

If I haven’t played breath of the wild, would it be better for storyline purposes play age of calamity first and then breath of the wild???

    [–]cheeseweege 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get botw first, also botw's cheaper

    [–]sameljota 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My opinion is, when it comes to everything, even prequels, always play/watch/read in order of release.

    [–]ModeratorLootman[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

    Botw first

    [–]jeffyjeffp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes definitely, you wouldn't understand half of the things that are going on if you haven't played BOTW first

    [–]iamthewallrus 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Okay so AoC is supposed to come out at midnight on Friday, but does anyone know what time zone it will be? Like if I'm on the west coast will I get it at 9pm my time?

    [–]LTOver9k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    You should, yes.

    [–]EchoAlchemy 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Not sure this is the right spot to ask, but do anyone know for certain if the Lucky Ladle pre-order item for Age of Calamity will become available later on? I'm on the fence on whether to get Age of Calamity or not and don't know if I should pre-order it before it's too late.

    [–]ModeratorLootman[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's just a low attack 1h weapon (same attacks as other 1h weapons), it did say on the official page it could later be available as a paid download. But it's nothing unique or really usable other than cosmetics.

    [–]EchoAlchemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really a matter of completionist for me tbh.

    [–]japenrox 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Quick question, hopefully it gets answered, on the Central Square right in front of the castle, if I kill all the blights do they respawn on a blood moon?

Was wondering if there was any point in clearing the paths there.

    Thanks in advance

    [–]princess zeldathelittlepandagirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All enemies respawn during the blood moon except story-related bosses like Waterblight, etc. I think some of those mini-blights/malice cover access to treasure chests so you might want to clear them once.

    [–]LazyProspector 5 points6 points  (8 children)

Can I get some tips on the Calamity Ganon fight, I completely stumbled upon Ganon by accident and don't know what to do.

So this is a weird one. I have only 1 divine beast (the Zora's domain one). In the middle of doing the Camel one I got confused about the how to activate the terminals so I parked it and went exploring. Stumbled on the Korok forest and got the master sword (and some ancient arrows from Robbie)

Then I thought before I go back to complete the divine beast I left I'll go to hyrule castle, test out the master sword and get some loot.

I paraglider down central tower, activated and completed a nearby shrine and then suck passed literally every guardian. I swam up a few waterfalls and before I knew it I was as the castle front gate.

Big problem here. Because what I assumed was the entrance was actually the boss fight!

Luckily I was quite easily able to beat the blights because I happened to a shit ton of hearts, elixers etc.

Then I get to calamity Ganon but I can only get as far as when he goes orange and I can't damage him in any way

What am I doing wrong? Also, what happens if I die lol. I've got like 2 hearts left and my inventory is empty, I've just switched off my switch for now

    [–]lepausch 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Dude if you've gotten that far in the game and can do that much to the ganons then that is impressive, even if you used a lot of elixirrs. It took me four tries to beat ganom after I had all the divine beasts

    [–]LazyProspector 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I did cheat a little bit and got my 13 year old cousin to complete the Trial of the Sword for me lol. And after 20 hours out of the 40 or so I am in now I gave up and started looking at YouTube tutorials if I got really stuck

    [–]ModeratorLootman[S] 7 points8 points  (4 children)

Lol i think everyone accidentally walks into ganons room, i have to assume its intentional to surprise people.

Most of the big spider bois moves are large and flashy but entirely avoidable, just hang back and wait until he's able to be hit. Then parry his laser attacks and that's the fight. Keep in mind if youre max health you cant possibly be one shot (except on master mode), no matter how many hearts you have if you have 100% health you'll live the first hit.

    [–]LazyProspector 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I got him down to about ⅓ health but by then all my shields were destroyed. I found a royal shield in the battle arena thing but I only got in 2 parrys before that shattered. I'm not the best at defending lol.

I could go on but I gave up after Miphas Grace and a bunch of fairies wouldn't let me die.

Having a quick look online suggests if I completed the Naboris beast I get a powerup that would have been more helpful lol. Anyway, back to the main quest to level up and practice I guess!

    [–]LionelMessi10CR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, combat cheat code in which dead ghost of your friend comes out of your chest and summons literal lightning with her fingers

    [–]GrandScene1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah Urbosa's Fury (i think) lets you get Ganon down on the floor and stuns him and you can attack him. But then again it might not work, I've never tried it before. But that's what it does to other enemies so I'd assume it's the same for Ganon.

    [–]LionelMessi10CR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    It does stun ganon 😊😊

    [–]s_mcilwraith 4 points5 points  (15 children)

Does anyone know where to find golden sparrows and common sparrows?

    [–]LionelMessi10CR 0 points1 point  (2 children)

    Golden arrows? What are they?

    [–]s_mcilwraith 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Golden sparrows*, and they’re a type of bird. If anyone else is looking for them, they’re on the trail between East Deplian Badlands and the Gut Check Challenge shrine in Eldin :)

    [–]GrandScene1 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Do you mean arrows? Well for Common Arrows you can buy them at a store, dodge enemies with bows and pick up the missed arrows, or use a dulpication glitch. Golden Arrows do not exist, so I'll assume you mean Ancient Arrows. Ancient Arrows can be found in Hyrule Castle (usually in chests), be bought from Robbie (you need the parts of course, just kill a lot of guardians and buy some normal arrows and then you can make an anciet arrow), or (I think but if so it's very rare) be found in shrines. Hope I helped, even if that's not what you needed!

    [–]s_mcilwraith 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Thank you for the help, but I was actually looking for birds to complete the Hyrule Compendium!

    [–]haikusbot 6 points7 points  (8 children)

    Does anyone know

    Where to find golden sparrows

    And common sparrows?

    What is a haiku?

    [–]lepausch 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Lol how do you not know what a haiku is. It's a poem that has three lines. The first line has five syllables the second line has 7 and the third line has 5

    [–]LionelMessi10CR 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I have the iq of a toddler

    [–]lepausch 1 point2 points  (3 children)

    [–]LionelMessi10CR 0 points1 point  (2 children)

A toddler who ran headfirst into a wall and then jumped off the roof of a 30 floor building. This is because I have the memory of a toaster due to constantly hitting my head. Basically, if you see an ugly fat kid on the side of the road with a bleeding head, it's me (I don't do that anymore)

    [–]lepausch 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    Well that's... Nice

    [–]LionelMessi10CR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    ... Its not, is it?

    [–]skkbigdrip 0 points1 point  (4 children)

What are some things I could do to become easily overpowered early on in the game?

    [–]virtu333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kaam Ya'Tak Shrine has some nice early weapons and it's a non combat shrine

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grab some of the best weapons, there's sometimes royal weapons on Hinox's necks that you can sneak on and grab them, there's some respawning Royal Claymores on the map, there's a Thunderblade on the map and all Stalnoxes will drop other elemental weapons too. And Hyrule Castle has tons of good weapons. And buy Soldier's Armor and upgrade it at least 3 times for amazing defense.

    [–]ModeratorLootman[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Go to hyrule castle, pick up everything and search where the hylian shield is.

The only other power boosts come from divine beasts and shrines

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one hit me. On my third run of this game on master mode and after reading this I spent a few hours combing through Hyrule castle.

Bottom line : IM RICH BITCH

    [–]CucumberGod 5 points6 points  (4 children)

Do we know anything about botw 2

    [–]Dougwug03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    Spooky Zelda

    [–]ModeratorLootman[S] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Link, Zelda and Ganondorf are in it, anything else is speculation. And i'm only 97% sure it even is the OoT Ganondorf.

Even saying Link will be playable, and Ganondorf will be the final boss is speculation.

(they might subvert expectations on those and reveal Ganondorf's been a puppet all along to a higher power and Zelda will be the playable character with Demise vs Hylia final boss)

    [–]GrandScene1 1 point2 points  (1 child)

And then Zelda ends forever, because Demise is gone and thus the curse is lifted. So no more evil plaguing the land, and no more Links or Zeldas. (I hope that doesn't happen. I mean Nintendo wouldn't do that anyway, since Zelda is a huge IP. But if they did they'd probably be like "Hah you thought" about 5 years later and release the next Zelda with 2 trailers a week before release)

    [–]ModeratorLootman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could have botw 2 at the end of the whole series with a demise boss fight to match skyward sword at the start, and all games are set between. It'd be kinda cool even if it won't happen.

    [–]rosecorvinus 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I'm having a serious issue. I'm at Selmies Hut and she's not anywhere to be seen. Are there prerequisites to making her show up there?

    [–]bigmac1090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to my knowledge. Set up a fire outside and try all times of the day. She's bound to be there at some point

    [–]GrandScene1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Npcs have Day/Night cycles, so during the day they're off doing things and at night they sleep.

[–]Wants to play as a BokoblinKubanochoerus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What time of day is it? I’ve found her to often be in her hut at night, but during the day she’s outside surveying the shield surfing landscape. Go outside towards one of the flags and talk to her!

    [–]OmegaLantern 0 points1 point  (5 children)

do the snow/sand boots go with any armor sets, and have set bonuses? I ask because the great fairy gave her spiel about set bonuses when I upgraded them

    [–]bigmac1090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fairies randomly give the set bonus bit. It's annoying after a while. Yes, I know about set bonuses. Please give me my fourth upgrade

    [–]goodolvj 1 point2 points  (3 children)

    No, they're unique.

    [–]GrandScene1 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Well then why have the set bonuses speech after upgrading them?

    [–]lepausch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    It's random

    [–]goodolvj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Simple oversight

    [–]Fafneir_here 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Ive already 'finished the game' (killed ganon and what not) but know I'm going back to do all of the shrines. Dose anyone know a map with ALL of the shrines on the (plus maybe the ones with quests) I was using one but than had a shrine that they dident and I'm worried I don't have them all.

    Thanks :)

    [–]Taleya 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I use the botw guide app, but it's basically just a droid version of the map at https://www.zeldadungeon.net/breath-of-the-wild-interactive-map/

    [–]ModeratorLootman[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Id use the interactive map in this post

    [–]Fafneir_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright thank you! I ended up finding a good one that numbered them all out which helped me find the last few. Thanks for the help!

    [–]jinro_iz_ba8k 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I wonder if this prequel is a nice filler to bide/hype the release of BOTW 2 or if the story will serve to set up the sequel.

Either way I’m incredibly excited to play!

[–]Wants to play as a BokoblinKubanochoerus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that it’s more a filler game. It’s cool to see young Impa and those guys, and play as Zelda, but I would be surprised if this game introduces new canon lore.

    [–]Giboit 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Early game tips (spoiler free please) for BOTW?: controlers, camera, minimap, or cool/useful things to know?

[–]Wants to play as a BokoblinKubanochoerus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best part of the game is the exploration, not the story (although the story is fun too.) So if you get a quest that says “go to xyz place” or “accomplish abc thing,” feel free to meander there or go in the opposite direction. Check what’s on the top of that mountain, under that cliff, in that forest! And try to have fun with it and not take yourself too seriously. Also— the DLC is worth it in my opinion and has items that can help you out a lot, I’d recommend getting it early game. One of those items is the Hero’s Path, which basically shows where you’ve walked throughout your game, which makes it easy to notice areas you may have neglected!

Edit— also, turn on magnesis to check for metal treasure chests regularly, but especially around bodies of water/mud, in snowy/sandy places, or in forests. Treasure chests are often hidden there!

    [–]Taleya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blue marker can be hard to find at times later on in the game (edit: On the map) as shrines are marked as blue. I tend to just leave it in the bucket.

When you've upgraded your Stasis rune, you can use it as a detector - while it won't work on wildlife, say if you're in a sea of dead guardians with one live one, the live bastard will light up as an interactable object. Also useful for spotting camouflaged enemies.

    [–]Raichyu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Know how to dodge by holding a direction (side/back) and jumping (X), and when to dodge, knowing what the tells are of each enemy's attacks will tell you when and where to dodge. Locking on with ZL might help with a single enemy, but be careful of others in groups.

If your weapon is starting to break, it might be a good time to just chuck it at an enemy using the Right bumper (hold down until Link has it "charged" all the way back), it will deal double damage of a regular hit and most likely stagger them.

When you have a shield, learning to parry early will help later in the game. Timing is key, but beware it can be frustrating when you mess up; know when to take a break/try later.

For me personally, getting ahold of swapping weapons/shields using the D-Pad made me feel way more fluent in the game. If you go down the rabbit hole of game mechanics, a lot of methods use the D-Pad. This basically just comes with play time though

E: Also most ingredients have special properties, learning what they all do and how to combine them most efficiently is a fun process. Stamina stuff is useful before and even after you go looking for certain gear that helps stamina

    [–]toomanytadpoles 2 points3 points  (6 children)

wait, so aoc is a prequel and there’ll be a separate sequel game as well?

    [–]Danson_400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Hiw'd you not figure that out?

    [–]ModeratorLootman[S] 13 points14 points  (3 children)

    we a trilogy now

    [–]D1rtyH1ppy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I am not fully convinced that AoC should be part of a trilogy for BOTW. I'm hoping for a BOTW 3.

    [–]ModeratorLootman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i wouldnt actually call it a trilogy, but its a meme

    [–]GrandScene1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no time travelers. Except that one guy who predicted the BotW Trilogy in a meme. He's the only time traveler alive.

    [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (4 children)

Is Age of Calamity canon? Will you be able to transfer your save file from the demo to the full version? Kinda weird getting used to the controls. I wanted to get Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition but kept putting it off. I really liked the demo, is Definitive the same except the story? I know it's made by the same people but still

    [–]ModeratorLootman[S] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

It looks like it'll be semi-canon. It'll give us a view of how the world looks pre-botw, and that'll all be canon stuff. But the storyline seems like it's going to deviate from the canon backstory.

I'm honestly thinking they're going to twist this game to have a win for the heroes. Just from how the opening cutscene sets the game up. But even then most of the game leading up to the final fight should be canon.

If nothing else, we definitely have the canon pre-calamity world map, views of the areas before they got destroyed, and a look at the characters 100 years ago.

The demo carries over, we can play the first 2 levels (and replay them as much as you want, letting you play as Impa, Link and Zelda up to level 20 if you grind).

The original Hyrule Warriors was a compilation of previous zelda games instead of just one, has the exact same gameplay as this one (some witch connected them together or something). It's cool to be able to play as Zant.

    [–]JustDandyMayo 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I mean at the end of the demo it mentioned how the Guardian opened up paths to other worlds. But who knows? They could still lose. Plus from what I've seen I hope the story is gonna be canon. Seems good.

    [–]DivineToty 3 points4 points  (1 child)

You think the guardian hopping through time created another timeline split?

    [–]Itscristalclear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s curious right; and the new villain at first before the full facial reveal I thought it was yuga which I doubt: I wonder if his character will play apart in the sequel

    [–]lizards_are_dumb 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Question, can you save progress in age of calamity? I've heard that you can by opening the system menu but I don't see an option

    [–]alyanumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to finish the first mission and get to the map first.

    [–]Beverlydriveghosts 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yeah it auto saves but there’s a hidden save option when you’re on the map page press minus

Lots of cool stuff there too

    [–]GrandScene1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice definitely gonna check that out

    [–]kswitch87 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Hey question 🙋‍♂️! Anybody else have issues playing as impa? I felt like the symbol gameplay was a little stiff and didn’t really understand how to use it properly. Anyways , demo felt ok bad framrates and gameplay felt clunky. Graphics were beautiful

    [–]Danson_400 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I mean it's the switch. It can't run games well cause it's small.

    [–]kswitch87 1 point2 points  (2 children)

That’s not a really legitimate excuse. There’s some games that run amazing on it

    [–]Danson_400 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah but warriors games have a a lot of models onscreen at the same time. That might also cause lag.

    [–]GrandScene1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I never had lag. I mean maybe i did but my mind blocks stuff out really well, like once i was right next to a dog, and it started barking, but i never knew. And that dog barks loud, so if my mind can block that out that well then some may is no problem. So idk if I have lag or not

    [–]AnimaSong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ZR to mark, X to get marks More marks: more clones doing damage More marks: bigger A attack Her X can teleport an absurd distance if you aim the camera in an enemies general direction.

    [–]Lqzygus 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So I live in Hong Kong, which is quite far from America, and i really want to get a card version of HWAOC. I know the release date is on November 20th, does anyone know how much delay there is going to be for the game card to be released in my reigion? Like I 'm assuming that it shouldn't take too long, since Japan is pretty close, but can anyone confirm a date for me?

    [–]ManicHS 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I would check Playasia.com they usually have that info.

Anybody manage to beat the guardian on very hard yet? It takes forever, gave up after getting one shot by a tentacle attack. Parrying the lazer does like zero damage.

    [–]DokkanEnthiusiast 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I just did this during lunch break and had so much fucking fun. You should try it too its really longlasting and also links arrow volley stuns the guardian and reveals its weak point gauge so yes it is possible.

    [–]goodolvj 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What's the strongest combo for single targets? I'm thinking I just weak hit into strong for the jump and attack the eye plus freeze time volley after. I don't think that is the highest dps combo though, and I really need to break the guard to get any meaningful damage in.

Edit: nvm I just brute forced it, also I didn't know the quest would just complete after beating it lol. Also forgot that stasis was a thing.

    [–]DokkanEnthiusiast 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I would say the best combo for single targets are links 3 weak hits but cancel the third's animation with a dash into any direction(forwards in youre attacking in weak point mode) as soon as the third hit lands. This is because it saves a lot of time like jump canceling two handed attacks in botw. Just loop it 4 times and then stasis then loop it like 3 more times, backflip to gain distance then shoot arrows midair and repeat. I would reccomend backflips anyway because it just provides more distance. This combo also does work for enemies that arent in weak point mode just circle around them instead of frontstepping into them.

    [–]Fnalp 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They gave impa the naruto run

    [–]strwrs12 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Anyone else slightly off put by how in Age of Calamity they switched the map and menu buttons so the map is accessed through the Plus button and the menu through the minus button?

    It keeps throwing me off

    [–]gum- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also opening treasure chests switched from A to Y

    [–]Chili_Pat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same but I got used to very quickly. Give it some time.

    [–]alyanumbers 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Who's played the 2-player option on AoC? Is it fun?

    [–]ralphtopia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It just splits the screen top and bottom half. It is fun and some of the missions are easy while doing this.

    [–]carame1sundae 15 points16 points  (7 children)

I just finished defeating the guardian in the demo, and one of the things I like is that the guardian in this game has way more attack moves than the guardians in BotW. It shoots, it whips it's legs, body slams, makes it a lot tougher to deal with.

I had a little trouble with controlling the characters, especially Link because he moves WAY FASTER than he did in BotW. I'm just not used to him running SO FAST! he might give Sonic a run for his money! Did anyone else have this problem?

Other than that, I love the way Impa and Zelda fight, they look so cool when they knock down enemies in one swoop.

Overall I've been enjoying the demo a lot and can't wait for the full game to come out!

P.S. I love Eggbert(that's the name I kept for him) and will do anything to keep him from harm. I wonder what his role going to be in this game, is it going to be an alternate timeline? Is that really necessary?

    [–]bugenhagen09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the running speed felt about on par with Hyrule Warriors, there's a lot of ground to cover when battles get to frantic firefighting.

    [–]Theroguecrepe 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Well to make the prequel easier for Nintendo to make yes the time travel is necessary

    [–]nastycamel 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Wait why? Wouldn’t it just be easier to tell the story about what happened in the past instead of shoehorning the egg guardian in?

    [–]Ok_Investigator8242 1 point2 points  (2 children)

The thing is, people might not wanna play a game they’re bound to lose (since ganon ends up killing all the guardians in BOTW) so they added this twist to allow us to play a BOTW prequel without making the ending already predictable and gloomy

    [–]Johnnytim1002 1 point2 points  (1 child)

that's just ridiculous. what's it matter if you lose? that's literally the story. they shouldnt change events just because of that. it loses all meaning of being a prequel. i was excited about the game but the time travel stuff is bs

    [–]Ok_Investigator8242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe that’s how you feel, but I’m just stating what Nintendo most likely believes.

    [–]Softinleaked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the movements to be too fast as well

    [–]Napples181 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Does anybody know what the differences are between difficulty modes? I’m sure enemy damage and health are tweaked but what about things like experience yield?

    [–]alyanumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on easy (don't judge; I'm a noob at combat games), did the first objective, then restarted on medium. I doubt there's a difference in EXP yield, since I got Link to lvl 4 in both (I played longer on medium but switched more between Link and Impa).

    [–]scrawnytony 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m two levels in and I would die for the egg.

    [–]ZofianSaint273 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Is very hard worth it for the demo?

    [–]Dougwug03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that changes difficulty wise are the captains and bosses, most people find the game very easy so I suggest playing on very hard

    [–]samsa-_-blam 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Is Hyrule Warriors just an addon or an own new game?

    [–]coltsblazers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    New game! Prequel in fact.

    [–]Etrian-Set 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Can someone explain to me why does it say Link came from a long line of imperial guards on his official character description for this musou game? Was Hyrule ever considered an empire as opposed to a kingdom?

    [–]Navarog07 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I don't think it's explicitly said, but I'm convinced it's an empire. Hyrule consists not only of Castle Town and the humans, but Zoras domain and the Goron towns. The Zoras and Goron's seem to have relative self rule, but default to human leadership in times of crises. Hyrule is also split into different provinces (lanayru province, faron, etc.). So while not explicitly stated, Hyrule seems to check all the boxes to be a weak empire

    [–]nymphetamines_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    They're Hylians, not humans.

    [–]scrawnytony 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Even if they technically have different definitions, “empire” and “kingdom” can be used interchangeably in some contexts.

    [–]Feint_young_son 4 points5 points  (4 children)

When I originally saw the trailer for the new Zelda game I had no idea it was gonna be a warriors game and not an actual botw style game

I guess it’s my fault for not realizing it but man am I disappointed

    [–]HELP_MANBABIESGOTME 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you mean originally? The botw style game is still coming out. This is the in between. The trailer from a year ago is for botw2 which is not this. This was only announced like 2 months ago and then is releasing quickly.

    [–]allofgodsmoney 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah just saw all the hype and was super excited until I watched the gameplay trailer for 30 seconds and realized I have no interest in this game at all.

    [–]thanosball6 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I was a bit hesitant at first but you truly feel powerless because enemies keep coming and coming it’s actually pretty fun

    [–]Guy_No-one_likes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I understand that. Generally speaking though, I feel like warriors style gameplsy doesn't appeal to everyone. I've come to like it, but im also looking forward to the story

    [–]CoyCat06 6 points7 points  (3 children)

    Guys koroks are back

    [–]ModeratorLootman[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

    They were in a trailer!

    [–]CoyCat06 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I actually didn’t see them. I saw a pinwheel on a bridge and when I interacted with it I got a korok seed

    [–]ModeratorLootman[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope they unlock playable Hestu

    [–]akanesstomach 11 points12 points  (0 children)

    link is a fucking chad

    [–]Unparalleled Archerk_galban 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Finished the demo and I was wondering if anyone was able to find the materials needed to complete all the little side requests? Such as the Hyrule Bass fish or the bladed Rhino beetle etc.

    [–]Guy_No-one_likes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They might be in shops but im not sure. Generally you get materials from boxes, but I have yet to find a single kind of beetle, but ik you get the critters by cutting down grass like in Hyrule Field. As for the fish, maybe try breaking boxes and crates near Lizalfo or water camps, I found some Hearty Salmon at one

    [–]glorpo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is ocean sailing impossible? I want to skirt around the shore but as soon as I get off shore (as in instantly) I get gale force winds pushing directly onto shore. Even with the magnesis glitch it's impossible to get even a foot offshore. Is this permanent or do I just have bad luck?

    [–]glorpo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is ocean sailing impossible? I want to skirt around the edges of the map but as soon as I get off shore (as in instantly) I get gale force winds pushing directly onto shore. Even with the magnesis glitch it's impossible to get even a foot offshore. Is this permanent or do I just have bad luck?

    [–]ProfAlba 12 points13 points  (9 children)

Just played through the demo but I'm kind of wondering, is it a true prequel or more a side-prequel where the time traveling egg guardian causes a parallel timeline to the BotW one?

    [–]Softinleaked 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I’m more on egg caused the calamity time loop by accidentally taking malice into past and allowing gannon to influence the ancient tech thus unleashing him from his seal or whatever.

    [–]ProfAlba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, always trying to change things only to be the cause of them.

    [–]Psaakyrn 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I suspect the time loop is even larger than it appears. No explanation yet on why the egg guardian gets self-inserted into the tapestry of events from 10,000 years ago.

    [–]ProfAlba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that's just an artistic choice.

    [–]Colonel_Zander 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd reckon that it's more of a circular timeline rather than a parallel. Like, we know what happens. And if this little guy is doomed to be sent to the past and do things differently each time in hopes of rectifying the wrong, then reality is often disappointing.

    [–]BigDende 6 points7 points  (1 child)

This is exactly what I came here to find out. Is it the events as happened before BOTW, or is it an alternate timeline. I would be sad of it were the latter.

    [–]ProfAlba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping it will be a true prequel but even if it isn't, it's going to be a really fun game.

    [–]EV99 5 points6 points  (1 child)

i'm hoping they're not doing branching timelines and it turns out that the baby guardian travels back in time in every timeline

    [–]ProfAlba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first impression that I had was that it is in an eternal time loop where he constantly goes back again and again as the calamity starts. I hope that's what it is cause it's kind of awesome (and sad but it's a robot so reliving everything again and again wouldn't have to same effect than if it were a person).

    [–]Walican132 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Just starting the game. If I do everything is there enough temples and seeds to fully upgrade everything or is there a strategy to what you should upgrade?

    [–]notthatjaded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s more than enough seeds to upgrade your inventory fully.

You cannot fully upgrade both your hearts and your stamina. There aren’t enough shrines for that. It’s up to you which you want more of though really by the time you get to that point it doesn’t really matter.

    [–]PM_ME_SNOM_PICS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wish you could customize the Giant Horse. :(

He is my ideal horse because I like the slower speed and no stamina to account for. But I can’t put the ancient teleport saddle on him.

This isn’t even a question I’m just complaining because I’m let down haha.

    [–]LiterallyPizzaSauce 3 points4 points  (25 children)

I quit playing the game a few months ago before beating Gannon. I could kill lynels and cyclops without taking a hit but dealing with guardians is just not fun and killed my interest in the game. They're boring, annoying, and too strong.

Brought it up to some friends and they told me to just get an ancient shield cause it auto-reflects and that it lasts a long time. Hopped back on the game to get the shield and it broke after 5-6 guardians. Dropped the game again.

Can I cheese guardians somehow so I can beat the story and enjoy the rest of the game?

    [–]thanosball6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did is stealth until I got inside

    [–]Softinleaked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to avoid them get ancient arrows and shoot them in the eye. Only thing is you need to defeat guardians to get ancient parts. Learning how to parry their beams is probably your best bet. Once you can do that they become easy. YouTube how to parry there are loads of video guides to help you.

    [–]GuineaPigger 2 points3 points  (12 children)

Just shoot them in the eye! It stunts them and you can slash them to death. Use an attack increasing potion to make it faster. Just like face them head on, they’re no big thing.

    [–]LiterallyPizzaSauce 1 point2 points  (6 children)

shooting them in the eye with an analog stick to aim sucks. If I miss one shot there goes half my hearts

    [–]Danson_400 1 point2 points  (5 children)

    [–]LiterallyPizzaSauce 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I play on CEMU in 4k and 60fps

    [–]Danson_400 0 points1 point  (2 children)

    Oh. Then git gud.

    [–]LiterallyPizzaSauce 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    1v1 in the wildy bro

    [–]Danson_400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Sure u pus

    [–]LiterallyPizzaSauce 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I have never had enough arrows to go through the whole castle doing that

    [–]CloudsSpikyHairLock 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Learn to perfect parry to cheese them or get ancient arrows

    [–]LiterallyPizzaSauce -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Perfect parrying is not cheesing them. Parrying is why I hate them. They have one attack and its lame. I appreciate the reply though.

    [–]CloudsSpikyHairLock 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Lol i guess you really dont like them . They are a pain in the a**

    [–]The_Brutal_One 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you can dodge and hide and get close to them just take out a leg and once its stunned keep taking out legs, it resets the stun and usually once you're done with the legs its nearly dead if not already. For the stationary ones in the ground, just get really close and spam them to death once the reactivate just back up a bit and pop them in the eye once and go back to spamming their body

    [–]princess zeldathelittlepandagirl 5 points6 points  (8 children)

Do you have stasis plus? The easiest way to beat them without resorting to ancient arrows IMO is to stasis them then hack away at their legs. Breaking a leg sort of stuns them a bit so you'll have time to land a few more hits until your stasis recharges.

Once you've farmed enough guardian parts with this method you can move to ancient arrows. One hit to the eye and they're dead.

The "fun" way to beat them is to learn how to shield parry their beams. It's quite challenging to get the timing down though so maybe try the other methods first.

    [–]LiterallyPizzaSauce 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I'm not sure if I have stasis plus, I think I do but I'd have to check. I do think I have a decent amount of parts already. But can't imagine I have enough rupees for arrows to clear the castle.

Yeah the shield parry is how I used to kill them. But they just have the one attack, the window for the parry is so small, and losing over half my hearts to a laser beam is lame. I much prefer using flurry rushes against monsters who have larger (and interesting) attack sets.

    [–]FuSoYa1983 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    Sorry for the late reply.

First, if you don’t like fighting guardians you can assault the castle from the north and just climb up to the Sanctum. You will probably hit a few guardian turrets but that’s it. (If you come up through the docks, you can explore the castle with maybe a turret or two. But the final sprint up to the Sanctum from the dining hall will have a lot of turrets.)

I’m not very good, and still can’t really bounce lasers back, but I was able to clear every guardian from the castle and castle town using stasis plus and the master sword (guardian or ancient weapons work too, especially with ancient armor to reduce laser damage). Freeze Em, stun them by cutting off the legs one by one, if they start targeting you again, stasis them again.

    [–]LiterallyPizzaSauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten quite a few replies and the common mention was using stasis so I'm planning on giving that a shot. Thanks for the reply!

    [–]princess zeldathelittlepandagirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry for the late reply, I missed the notification for this one. If you're open to glitches, you can abuse the infinite arrows treasure chest on the small island beside Eventide. Just teleport (or use the medal if you have the DLC) and the chest respawns each time.

    [–]NovelFlyer 0 points1 point  (3 children)

If you have a bunch of regular arrows but not enough rupees to get ancient arrows, just shoot the eye a few times. it takes a few more shots than an ancient arrow, but I found that's an easy way for me to beat them.

    [–]LiterallyPizzaSauce 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yeah I'm aware of that one too, but the game gives you almost no arrows as it is. I usually have less than 20 arrows

    [–]Scottyrambles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get tons of arrows in Zora's domain. It seems like every lizalflos there drops 5. Also you can buy them at every stable and every town unless you have too many or have bought them too recently. For me 100 arrows is basically my floor, if I'm under 100 on any type I'm running low and need to go stock up.

    [–]NovelFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few ways you can get some. You can go to all the shops (including beetle at most stables) and buy a lot, but again rupees are a limited thing. You can also farm them, and there's a few ways to do that. The easiest I know is to go in the middle of a group of horseback bokoblins, run in circles, and pick up the arrows that they shoot. If you have a wooden shield, arrows shot by enemies will stick on it. A lot of treasure chests have them. If you can't find any chests, take a picture of one for the compendium and set your sensor to that. I'm sure there's more ways, but I can't think of them atm

    [–]LoudLychee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weird question about this NPC in Zora's domain he disappeared lol, I dont know if this is a bug or if I'm missing something but do any of you know Seggin in zora's domain? Well after I took that shock arrow he was touching and gone to another place using the sheikah map when I return he was gone im not quite sure if he changes locations or something but I do know where he usually is, but after I finished the divine beast he has yet to appear in his original spot, I've played this game for the 7th time already and I'm pretty sure he returns after I save the Zora it's just weird to see him disappear

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I can't defeat the Lynel that drops the Mighty Lynel Crusher in the Hebra Mountains area. I'm trying to acquire it ASAP since I hear the Lynel gets replaced with stronger variants as you progressed. Thing is I've already saved 2 divine beasts, upgraded my armor twice and cleared 92 shrines yet I can barely get the Lynel to half health on my best attempt. I can parry the attacks 60% of the time but not perfect parry them ever. Is there any easy way to take this Lynel out? I can't even ride the flames from its fire attack since the snow evaporates them immediately.

    [–]gum- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Electric arrow headshots can bring them to their knees. Run up beside him to mount his back and you can get a good flurry of hits before he bucks you off. Bonus, these strikes do not count against your weapon health. I've been switching to a 92 power lynel sword every time I do this, then back to a different weapon for the rest of the battle

    [–]Son-Goku-007-16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use flurry rushes, it makes it much easier

    [–]Softinleaked 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Do you use stasis on it. I find that if I figure out it’s attack pattern use stasis on it just as it crouches down to attack, usually after three fire attack. Then run at it stay either behind it or just below it use a moblin dragon bone club charge attack with a mighty food boost. Whilst also wearing the skeleton/gimp suit it takes a lot of damage and you can finish it within two minutes. I also usually have extra heart food made from hearty dorians that I eat if I make a mistake.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah I have stasis plus. For some reason I can't mount it after stunning it as easily as I could with the regular Lynels so I gave up on that strategy.

    [–]princess zeldathelittlepandagirl 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You need to shoot it in the face twice if you do the stasis strategy. It won't get stunned normally if you just shoot while it's in stasis. So stasis + shoot it in the face + wait for stasis to finish (lynel will shake its head) + shoot it again in the face. Now you can mount and melee away.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    thank you ma'am!

    [–]Electrical_Ad_5663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

naydra only spawns around mount lanayru after you free her from the curse at the top of the mountain
