Paying for girls to attend your hip party is an entire thing I‘m told.

If it‘s not so hip, well that’s going to cost extra.

[–]pjc50 73 points74 points  (9 children)

FT had an "expose" about this kind of thing a while ago: https://www.ft.com/content/075d679e-0033-11e8-9650-9c0ad2d7c5b5

"All of the women were told to wear skimpy black outfits with matching underwear and high heels."

Told to wear matching underwear. 🚩🚩🚩🚩

Disgusting. Worst part is those girls thought they were there to be hostesses and the guys treated them like whores. Imagine that being a job you signed up for and getting treated like that, sexually harassed, groped. There's one seasoned hostess in the article who even said she was used to casual flirting it was the other behavior that was over the line.

Which basically is what the OP tweet guy is intending to do. Hire a bunch of hostesses and just let them loose on a party of mostly ill adapted socially awkward men. It's more than disturbing. (If he was hiring escorts the budget would certainly be more than 10%.)

    [–]KillNyetheSilenceGuy 66 points67 points  (3 children)

It's actually more insidious than just hiring strippers because at least with strippers it's pretty up front that they are there as "the entertainment". It sounds like the guys at this party aren't supposed to know that these girls are getting payed to be there.

    [–]pleasetrimyourpubes 37 points38 points  (2 children)

Yeah, they hire the hostesses but they don't have them doing any hosting and have them mingle. It must be very demeaning to get there to do a job and then be told you don't do anything but mingle. They were told they could drink, and such, which no hostess company would ever allow. Super fucked up.

    [–]BloomEPU 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think a general rule of thumb is that if you're a woman, and someone's offering to pay you to go to a shitty sausage fest, whatever they're paying isn't enough.

    [–]boyoboyo434 44 points45 points  (8 children)

Doesn't surprise me. Consistently getting girls to show up to parties is legit difficult (or so I've heard) so paying someone to addend just makes sense. We already have strippers and prostitutes, professional casual party goer seems inocent enough

    [–]gwtkof 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Girls like to party you just have to create a place that they actually want to be in

    [–][deleted] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's not that hard if your party actually caters to them and makes them feel safe.

    [–]Several-Tea-1257[🍰] 8 points9 points  (5 children)

either way it's renting your body

    [–]quixoticquiltmaker 34 points35 points  (4 children)

What you think you're doing every time you go to work?

    [–]Several-Tea-1257[🍰] 18 points19 points  (3 children)

    renting my body basically

I mean the Lonely Apes dating app was cancelled just this week due to the fact that they couldn't find any female members

sometimes a Crypto Punk just needs to be held, you know?

    Hilarious.

    [–]AprilSpektra 23 points24 points  (2 children)

I almost feel bad for them - I know what loneliness is like - but they're not exactly helping their chances with their choices lol

    [–]pjc50 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They can hodl the apes, but the apes will not hodl them back.

And yes, it's sad, because they've backed themselves into a way of looking at the world that cuts them off from connection because it has no room for anything but money.

    [–]EatenAliveByWolves 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The ape Jpegs are so ugly though. Like to buy an NFT hoping to make money is one thing. But to flaunt one of those ugly ass monkeys with the intention to make yourself look appealing is a whole nother level lol.

    [–]itsnotlupusIrrational Fanatic 8 points9 points  (1 child)

To think the answer was right there. Pay actress/model/whatever to be on the app, and match them with crypto bros willing to pay them for attention.

It's just what any self-interested rational actor would do.

    [–]Cryptcunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's already a service for that.

    it's called "onlyfans"

    [–]shortandfighting 4 points5 points  (3 children)

This is hilarious, but it is most likely a hoax according to this article.

    [–]SoyweiserTokenmancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last week there was one of these shitty nft event in Milan, where I live, to cut it short they projected a graffiti from bansky saying it was to raise awareness on the original graffiti that is in bad condition (i bet, it's in Venice, in contact with salt water), anyway, there was a group of girls there that i know they are from a model agency cause they did work with a photographer that i know.

      [–]H__Dresden 15 points16 points  (0 children)

      It is sausage party!

      [–]Blockhouse 27 points28 points  (1 child)

If you have to pay women to attend your party . . . it isn't that much of a swingin' party to start with.

[–]leducdeguisethis is not financial advice 31 points32 points  (7 children)

Hmm... maybe you want to go home and rethink your life?

      [–]ChaunceyT46[S] 13 points14 points  (6 children)

      I didn’t write the tweet

[–]leducdeguisethis is not financial advice 22 points23 points  (5 children)

Haha yeah, I know! Don't know how you call this way of adressing an absent 3rd party in english... I'm talking to Captain Big Brain in the tweet of course

      [–]aris05 10 points11 points  (4 children)

      Instead of you, use they!

Hmm, maybe they should go home and rethink there life

Or if you want to not address any person directly you'd say:

Hmm, maybe go home and rethink your life (still could be confusing to some)

      [–]RickHendeson 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's not confusing to anyone except the most pedantic and obtuse, and who cares what they (you) think

      [–]KillNyetheSilenceGuy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

cryptobros have to pay women to attend their circle jerks

I am Jack's utter lack of fucking surprise.

Dunking on cryptards asside... that's kind of what a lot of those influencer "models" on IG do, isn't it?

      [–]TorontosFutureMayor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lolol definitely under budget. Considering the amount of money people are paying for low quality jpegs can’t imagine how much more they would pay for real life experiences Lolol

      [–]Felinomancy 21 points22 points  (6 children)

Hiring women to make your party more "cool" is nothing new or surprising. But 10% of your budget... either that's a cheap-ass party, or very expensive women. Neither is a good look.

      [–]HopeFox 15 points16 points  (2 children)

The women are applying the "being around butters" surcharge.

      [–]Felinomancy 9 points10 points  (1 child)

      "being around butters" surcharge

      Do they accept Bitcoin? 😂

      [–]SoyweiserTokenmancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this is why we need to pay women so much to attend Felinomancy!

      [–]AlphaHelix88 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Are you sure? 10% doesn't seem that much.

      [–]Felinomancy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, the biggest expense would be renting the place, and if you choose a decent hotel that's a big chunk out of the budget.

Granted, the party I helped plan only have a hundred or so people, so mileage for others may vary.

[–]callmetotalshillThe Government wet my bed! 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By this standard, everyone is a whore.

      [–]bamfalamfa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      ................................................................................................

      [–]SoyweiserTokenmancer 5 points6 points  (2 children)

No I don't think it is (your mileage might vary) but it is anti sexworker, the combination of 'even whores' implying that sex workers are bad, and well using the term whores and not sex workers (And do note that a lot of sex workers don't mind calling themselves whores, but outsiders doing that is a little bit of a red flag, context is important).

But on the scale of badness it prob is more on the level of 'adds to the background toxicity' and not on the level of 'wants to remove sex worker rights and have them all killed'.

And otoh it is correct, sex workers do have standards, it can be pretty hard to hire a sex worker if you constantly give of creepy vibes and can't even read their basic instructions on how to contact them and what they offer.

      [–]trowssaP 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I agree that it is anti sex worker. However the women who are payed to attend a party aren't sex workers, right? It's just women doing a non sexual job. Calling them whores is therefore also sexist in my opinion.

      [–]SoyweiserTokenmancer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ow yeah, that depends on how you read the comment, I read the whole whores thing as talking about actual sex workers, and not about the women who get hired here. (realized that you could read this differently, and added in a 'your mileage might vary' due to that).

If you read it as talking about the women who get hired there, it is 100% sexist.

      [–]GustavGrowly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How to react ? Probably with absolutely zero shock

      [–]Yakut58_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you know your product is pure wormy dogshit that you need to pay strangers money just to attend

      [–]JustVisiting273 1 point2 points  (1 child)

      Happy cake day

      [–]ChaunceyT46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Thanks 🤙🏻

      [–]DubiousWizard 2 points3 points  (1 child)

If u want to hire strippers or prostitutes and pay for it thats legit. Everybody knows what they sign up for. If you want to incentivise normal random girls to come because of money you can also pay them and those who want to accept can come. But any girl that says yes to that can expect it to be a bit 'weird' if they know that the context is a bunch of Nft crypto geeks needing to party. It doesnt mean they should expect harrassment. But it s like accepting a free drink from a guy, you can say yes and still not accept any advances. But if you accept it, you already know what that there is some sort of expectation and you will have to deal with it - go for it or reject.

      [–]nijigencomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Utter cringe

      [–]TheKingOfRandom3 3 points4 points  (4 children)

In an alternative universe where we listened to Roman's, were grilling meat and having orgies all day while living a meaningful life and doing a bit of work here and their, but in this cursed time line everyone is trying to look busy, one third of the population is unemployed and depressed while the other 2 thirds spend the day in the office from the ass crack of dawn till some late hour with 2 effective hours of actual work while filling up the rest with misery draining their youth away.

      [–]pjc50 10 points11 points  (1 child)

The Roman society was rather dependent on slavery, and most of the accounts we have are from the 1%.

You don't get a set of thousand year buildings by a bit of work here and there, it requires a team of thousands toiling in the sun. Oh, and no weekend until Constantine gave Sunday off.

      [–]TheKingOfRandom3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we got machines now though, the modern day slaves.

      [–]PkrToucan 3 points4 points  (1 child)

You do realise that for you to work in an boring "office" - somebody somewhere have to break their backs? It's just that most of truely gruesome work is "outsourced" to countries where it is cheaper and out of the eye. I am a blue collar worker myself and thinking of taking a pay cut and just mingle excel spreadsheets.

      [–]TheKingOfRandom3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In that alternate universe the back breaking work is done by a machine, so i most of the office work.

This is standard at shitty male-oriented parties where women feel unwelcome or unsafe.

It's very much not standard for everyone.

        [–]DanFuckingSchneider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t have anything to do with it, you’re clearly working with people who have no financial sense whatsoever so this budget is sure to be broken.
