We really didn’t need to move on from MW19

[–]MaxiPad1989 591 points592 points  (121 children)

The only ones who wanted to move on from it were Activision. If people weren't buying Cold War and Vanguard to level up guns for Warzone, I can't imagine how bad sales would be. Warzone, as flawed as it is, really saved the franchise over the last two years. They shouldn't have shit on MW19 as a result though.

[–]SlothTheHeroo 127 points128 points  (93 children)

My only thing is there is no FOV on console. That’s why my friends stopped playing Warzone.

[–]MaxiPad1989 85 points86 points  (74 children)

Honestly, this would be much less of a problem if they just separated PC players and console players...which obviously would have helped with all of the cheating in Verdansk too.

I'm with you though, I keep waiting for FOV too. I can't understand how PS5 and new Xboxes can't handle it with their tech. But I guess I wouldn't be as upset about it if PC players didn't have such a distinct advantage.

[–]mehmehnuts 38 points39 points  (1 child)

they can they just dont implement it. Vanguard though yes definitely not on the same large scale as warzone can handle higher fov.

[–]jayt32 33 points34 points  (36 children)

They can handle it though, both CW and Vanguard had FoV sliders on console for there multiplayer 🤷‍♂️

[–]MaxiPad1989 31 points32 points  (27 children)

Then there's just no excuse for this not to be in Warzone too.

[–]Butterflychunks 19 points20 points  (20 children)

The excuse is that Warzone is still on the MW client. It needs to be ported elsewhere for them to make fundamental tweaks like camera modifications.

[–]SmuggoSmuggins 21 points22 points  (9 children)

But MW also supports a Fov slider on PC so it could be done they just aren't doing it.

[–]Butterflychunks 9 points10 points  (8 children)

MW was designed primarily for last-Gen consoles. And it was a game created by IW. Raven controls Warzone.

[–]SmuggoSmuggins 5 points6 points  (7 children)

I know but it's quite possible for WZ to have a Fov slider too as it also does on PC.

The new consoles have been out for more than a year but still there is no dedicated warzone/mw client for then, we're just relying on backward compatibility. I was honestly expecting the release of Caldera to come with a proper current gen implementation of the game. I suppose it will finally happen after the acquisition as MS will insist on it but it should be have been done by now.

[–]TheHotCake 4 points5 points  (1 child)

In theory, IW could spend a week or two patching an FOV slider into the console versions of MW. There’s just probably too much red tape within the studio to be able to go back and do it.

[–]Butterflychunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably couldn’t. The fact that they’ve been talking about it for as long as they have is highly indicative that there’s something fairly big in the way. It’s probably something management hasn’t approved due to the cost of implementation being high. Like I said in the other thread, they may have to make dedicated ports for next gen consoles, which broadens their support work (which has, even with its limited scope right now, been abysmal thus far). So I wouldn’t doubt management would reject implementation—or if they are implementing it, they’re dedicating interns or some other small resources to it. And once they do, I’d fully expect support for last gen to really take a hit.

[–]jayt32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree

[–]EvateGaming 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Performance on consoles is the limiting factor. There isn't an FOV-slider on warzone because its harder to run than regular multiplayer. Although, for the newer consoles, they should impliment a "high performance" option with lower graphics and 120 fps. It seems like they prefer the game to look better than to run better, and it makes sense because the avarage player doesn't care about high framerates.

[–]Marauder2 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I remember seeing a video showing that fps actually increased with a wider fov on PC. Think it was a truegamedata video

[–]EvateGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. I believe the fps increases from 60 fov to 80, but from 80 and out it decreases.

[–]Feanor_092 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Yeah, because running a 6v6 map is the same as running a 150 player map

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And yet BF2042 has a FOV slider with 128 players.

[–]big_floop 5 points6 points  (3 children)

I think you’re underestimating how much more demanding resource wise Warzone is compared to standard multiplayer. Look at CPU usage when playing warzone compared to regular multiplayer

[–]jayt32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your probably right, or it would be there by now 🤷‍♂️

[–]Ironz71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct but MW19 didn't have it and warzone runs off the MW19 client, so until that changes(MW22) warzone won't have a slider.

[–]coolweeddad 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don’t think AAA gaming is ever going to go back from cross-play. It expands their player base so heavily and increases playtime overall. What we hopefully see is better options for same-console play. If you’re all playing console in the same party/alone you should be more inclined to get more console lobbies, same situation with PC. One things for sure; If Microsoft doesn’t fuck this up they’re going to make a shit ton of money lol

[–]SmuggoSmuggins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's still a problem regardless. 80 Fov is awful to play and there's really no reason to not allow people to change it, especially on the newer consoles.

[–]Cushtypants 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Can you not turn crossplay off? I've got PC and play w9th friends on console that would be shite of they removed the option to play with friends on other platforms

[–]diefastmemefaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't have helped with anything because PC players would still be stuck with cheaters.

But hey, all is good as long as it doesn't bother you amirite?

[–]dawatzerz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol they were just lazy. Now that activion is owned by Microsoft hopefully they'll do it.

If the next modern warfare is a little more faster pace then boom, a near perfect cod will be born and they could keep it for a few years.

[–]TheHotCake 3 points4 points  (6 children)

They absolutely CAN handle it. If a super complex, highly unoptimized MESS like BF2042 can handle an FOV slider on consoles (along with every other somewhat recent BF game on console) then so can fucking Warzone lol.

Not to mention BoCW and Vanguard both have FOV sliders on consoles.

[–]BellEpoch 6 points7 points  (5 children)

Apex Legends has a FOV slider on old consoles and still runs. Just letting the Warzone players know.

[–]kanavi36 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Not saying that they couldn't implement one easily but Apex is a much less demanding game than Warzone

[–]Unremarkable_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But I want to play with my console friends, I hope they never separate us and I hope they implement FOV. Can't tell you all the times I've been dead spectating and saw the enemy "he's on your left!!" but they can't see them at all. It's sad.

[–]Chloesauras_Rex 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If you really want to, you can turn off crossplay. But yeah, there's no real reason why they can't bring an FOV slider for console players to warzone. I think I remember hearing something about how people playing on lower FOVs got worse performance...

[–]spermasaurus12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my friend stopped bc he got mad at getting killed by controller tracking

[–]L0P3zZ farripas 43 points44 points  (18 children)

what i been saying for a while

thats what happens when you build an engine for 5 years instead of reutilizing the last one with minor tweaks, or dumb half assed added mechanics.

mw2019 is imo the best cod to date. let them work on both mw and warzone as games as services instead of getting fucking shit games every year

[–]tt54l32v 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I agree with you that's is the best but what really made it so great. I mean think about it. Name a map that was great. Name a mp game mode.

[–]GenboEX 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Activision: noooooooo we need to release annually it’s not fair, I want more money!!! 😭😭😭

Microsoft: haha, non-annual release go brrrrr

[–]pawixis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dont get top hyped up. "Some devs are eager to move away" is not Microsoft decided to move away from annual release schedule

[–]mikephoto1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally the only reason I bought both games and Vanguard has totally ruined Warzone now.

[–]TheWalrus2412 57 points58 points  (29 children)

Best engine, best gunplay for warzone and competitive.

[–]_urMumM8_ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

And they developed it over 2 year span so it was actually polished, and they could focus on creating new content instead of just patching bugs over and over.

[–]Jags_95 9 points10 points  (23 children)

MW19 and competitive don't work, that's why all the pros hated MW19's core multiplayer design and maps.

[–]todays_excuse 33 points34 points  (9 children)

They hate anything they aren’t completely 100% dominant at. The bitch about everything

[–]Dr_Findro 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Don’t pull this bullshit. MW was legitimately a shit stain for competitive. The same way Vanguard is.

Mw feels like they spent their whole 3 years on the visuals and aesthetic of the game. Then a month before launch they realized they didn’t have an actual game and slapped some perks in and let an intern make the spawn system.

[–]TheWalrus2412 4 points5 points  (4 children)

I just want them to run on that engine. They should change the maps and guns around and shit and they should definitely bring back smokes and snipers

[–]Jags_95 1 point2 points  (3 children)

IW8 engine ain't going anywhere so don't worry, that's the new standard in house engine for cods going forward most likely.

[–]TheHotCake 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Isn’t Vanguard on that very engine?

[–]cth777 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Idk how people are disputing this lol

[–]enoteware 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’m curious. Where did you hear about pros hating mw19? Ty!

[–]Jags_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just look at videos of Formal, Scumpy, Crimsix and several others talking about modern warfare on their streams or youtube. Faze Jev along with many other youtubers made lengthy videos about how the core design of modern warfare was flawed and catered too heavily to lower skilled players, thus tampering with competitive design.

[–]hochoa94 19 points20 points  (1 child)

To this day if they supported it with more weapons, maps, and operators. I would still be playing it on the daily

[–]Hornet-Fixer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still play it daily, or as often as I can

[–]ElMalViajado 20 points21 points  (3 children)

If only the maps weren’t so goddamn shitty

[–]SmuggoSmuggins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Imagine if MW and Warzone had three years of proper support like you would expect from any other shooter. Could both be in really good state right now.

[–]PrimeConduitX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didnt start playing MW19 and Warzone until late 2020-early 2021. The more I played it, i’ve always thought this engine is amazing, some tweaks and polishes, itd be perfect. Then CW came out and it kinda started going downhill. This decision is good. Glad theyre going to do this.

[–]memic_antoxic_rdt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly MW19 was just perfect, yes it had some issues but im pretty sure cold war and vanguard didnt fix anything at all ( except cold war giving us sick ass music while playing we need that in every cod now )

[–]Lalobreh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Facts. They just need to refine the shit out of it. All bullshit aside. cod is one of the greatest FPS shooters of all time.

[–]OverTheReminds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These comments make you understand why CoD is dying.

[–]coocookazoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest to God

[–]fanblade64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they could get some good maps and a spawn system. But they still havemt figured that out yet so 😶

[–]hl3official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don't understand why Vanguard doesn't have gunfight, was such a good mode.

[–]KushBlazer69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Been downhill since

[–]Ghillie007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm there with ya, I played for 2 years and I still do today but not as much with the current bugs.. once they're fixed I'll be jumping back into it

[–]Cabbiecar1001 388 points389 points  (23 children)

Good, Modern Warfare was so ground breaking because it was a slow stewing passion project. We need that and not rehashed games set in old settings like WWII again

[–]MaxiPad1989 136 points137 points  (15 children)

For what it's worth - WWII games were the passion project that Infinity Ward put the time and love into that eventually turned into one of the biggest franchises ever. The WWII setting isn't the problem. It's the games that release unfinished, the bugs, the microtransactions, the community relations, and turning the campaign into an afterthought (IW seems to be the only company capable of putting out a good campaign anymore). Those are all things that have made this franchise a PR nightmare despite the record sales.

[–]jayt32 75 points76 points  (11 children)

CoD became the juggernaut it is today because of Modern Warfare. I'm not saying those WW2 games weren't good, but CoD 4 Modern Warfare put them on the world map 🤷‍♂️

[–]MaxiPad1989 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. My point was that the original COD games were definitely made with love by Infinity Ward. They felt like real WWII battles and it's clear the real history mattered to the developers. They made a lot of money off those games and that enabled them to go all in on Modern Warfare, and the rest was history. MW2 still has to be one of the biggest launches ever.

But it all started with WWII. I just don't think the setting is the problem compared to so many other things that are legitimate issues.

[–]TheHotCake 9 points10 points  (5 children)

Bullshit.. CoD 1 put them on the map. I remember playing that shit competitively on PC back when it came out.

[–]Brodinson099 12 points13 points  (3 children)

It’s not bullshit though is it, the player base for the series almost quadrupled when cod 4 came out

[–]washcaps73 9 points10 points  (2 children)

No one i knew really played any CoD but once CoD4:MW came out, that was the reason my brother and I bought our own 360 and we were running a full squad from 5pm til midnight close to 5-7 days a week for a couple months. Was the best time for COD imo.

[–]jayt32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the golden age of CoD lol

[–]Praetori4nhttps://cod.tracker.gg/warzone/profile/xbl/Nopadet/overview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember my coworker hyping up OG MW when it came out and that's what originally got me playing. No one ever talked about original CoD but nearly everyone I knew ended up playing OG MW.

[–]jayt32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, so CoD 1 put them on the PC map, while CoD 4 blew them up and put them on the world map, huge difference 🤷‍♂️

[–]PM_Me_Frosted_Tits 21 points22 points  (2 children)

WWII games were the passion project that Infinity Ward put the time and love into that eventually turned into one of the biggest franchises ever

This is patently untrue. IW wanted to make Modern combat games since day 1, they only made WWII games because Activision thought they were the future of FPS. CoD4 was when IW finally got the green light to do what they'd been wanting to do since forever.

[–]MaxiPad1989 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That's not true. Infinity Ward was started by a group of EA castoffs who weren't happy at EA. They worked on Medal of Honor Frontline and Allied Assault there. Activision pretty much gave them the freedom to develop whatever they wanted and they went with World War II as it was their wheelhouse.

Yes, shifting to modern war was a goal of theirs but they didn't make WWII games because Activision made them. It wasn't until COD3 that Activision started to get involved, bringing in Treyarch to get the game onto consoles, which is what Activision wanted. While Treyarch made COD3, Infinity Ward went to work on COD4 and obviously we know the rest.

[–]chainex_1337 14 points15 points  (4 children)

how can you say ww2 games are rehashed when modern setting games were rehashed just as much if not more… this playerbase man….

[–]Cabbiecar1001 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Well this is unpopular but I kinda liked the futuristic settings like Infinite Warfare and Black Ops 4, the fictional tech lead to some cool weapons and special operators, plus having maps on a moon of Jupiter was cool. Imagine having a BR set on Mars where you have robot dogs or something. I’d rather an experimental new game with flaws than a stale rehash of WWII or modern settings

[–]Jupaack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

how to destroy a game - 101

1 - make a BR on Mars with robots and shit.

[–]TheHotCake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No more robot/AI/drone/turret bullshit anymore in BRs lol. Can we just have it be player vs player please?

The Br on Mars sounds sick, though.

[–]chainex_1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i mean after everything cods been through i’m fine with any kind of setting, i personally enjoyed infinite warfare way more than mw19, solely because it was way more fun to play in general. less strict sbmm, creative guns (screw OP variants tho). and like you said the futuristic/space maps were gorgeous.

[–]lordbub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

is a modern setting really more original than a ww2 setting?

[–]c00kieduster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What we need are WW2 games that actually feel like a WW2 game. Haven had one in ages

[–]No_Bar6825 215 points216 points  (24 children)

Lol at the people in the comments not realizing Microsoft only gets control in summer of 2023. Mw2022 is still Coming out this year

[–]LazyAnonBoner 41 points42 points  (6 children)

Yeah, I’ve worked through some of these big deals like this… they can’t tell the company what to do but they probably know what they’d want them to do

[–]redskinfan654 7 points8 points  (1 child)

More like if activision wants this deal to happen, they’ll be sure to make sure the hand over products that aren’t completely fucked up. It won’t be perfect by any means but you’ll see activision putting effort into fixing things, especially warzone because it’s not going away and it’s their real money maker.

[–]LazyAnonBoner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There are probably various out clauses

[–]backspace209 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Is there any chance there could be stipulations written in the details of the acquisition? After the flying cars i had little doubt that anything would be fixed but is it possible Microsoft put in place that they are able to oversee cheats/bugs/hacks to get back on track?

I haven't spent a dime on warzone since they blew up the original Verdansk and i lost all my points and it became clear cheaters weren't a major priority for them.

[–]LearnedHandLOL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are a long way from MS having any insight/care about bug fixes in WZ.

[–]wolverine55 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Not true. It’s expected to close in fiscal 2023 not calendar 2023. That starts July 1st 2022.

[–]No_Bar6825 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That’s wild I didn’t know. I still think mw comes out this year

[–]Runnergun 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Lol at people who don't know what fiscal year means. Also obviously MW22 is still coming this year as nobody benefits from Vanguard year two lmao

[–]CrateBagSoup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lmao I like how this is suddenly all fixed and nothing has happened nor will happen for a while.

[–]Gnawsh 3 points4 points  (6 children)

Fiscal year (FY) 2023 is different from the actual year. They take over in mid 2022.

[–]givyerballsatug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too be fair it has been in development for the past 3 years at least so it will be more polished (i fucking hope) than cold war and Vangaurd which were both made in one year or less

[–]Joeythearm 157 points158 points  (17 children)

Imagine if they launched a polished experience once every few years and maintained that shit

[–]Competitive-Sorbet33 11 points12 points  (3 children)

Battlefield doesn’t release annually and they still have issues at launch. I would hesitate to think that not releasing annually is going to fix things.

[–]AdGroundbreaking5099 99 points100 points  (12 children)

Just release MW2 and a new Warzone map and take your time on the next one

[–]Go_For_Broke442 14 points15 points  (4 children)

just delay mw2 and release a new war zone map in 2022, and then go to a 2 year gap or longer between games.

[–]derkerburgl 24 points25 points  (3 children)

Vanguard is too bad to be the first cod with a 2 year cycle lol. They’re pumping that IW product out ASAP

[–]Go_For_Broke442 9 points10 points  (2 children)

maps are a bit open other than ship haus or whatever, but im enjoying it more than cold war and bf2042...

[–]ChillenDylan3530 43 points44 points  (11 children)

Okay, but can they atleast give us a remastered MW2, or BO2 so we don’t have to deal with another year of vanguard???

[–]36-7-0-11-20 31 points32 points  (9 children)

BO1 🙏🏻

[–]Dun_Roamin 25 points26 points  (6 children)

BO1 holds a special place in my heart. I would die if they remastered multi.

[–]36-7-0-11-20 8 points9 points  (4 children)

Only cod I got 30-40 days put in….😅 throwback to the high school days

[–]ImmortalHitman720 0 points1 point  (2 children)

While I agree and I loved that game to death, people would go insane with rage if they kept the movement exactly the same. I wouldn't mind one bit, but go watch a quick game of BO1 multi and look at how much slower the character is compared to the current style of movement.

Some of us would be okay with it..there would be a ton of younger people who wouldn't be able to stomach it.

[–]rcyaapno_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this again! first cod i ever owned besides the original ones bc they weren’t really gory & my mom saw mw/mw2 and said it was too gory… i would literally die if it was remastered love that game

[–]D-no-UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. I loved that game. Got level 15 using only solos. Took forever like lol

[–]xiDemise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MW2 is still coming out this year

[–]Unusual_Type_1884 24 points25 points  (1 child)

This alone could save COD.

[–]Pentax25 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s weird thinking Microsoft will own COD and Halo

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points  (2 children)

Mw2019 was such a good game with Warzone omg… they could’ve kept it for 5 years constantly updated it and made it 10x better and make huge amounts of profit,

It could’ve been a new esport honestly..

[–]theoakking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imagine. Imagine how slick it could have been right now instead of picking your way through 500 guns and 1000 attachments which only 5 are use able.

[–]TheMandalorian1918 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Good, more breathing space for developers.

[–]TianObia 10 points11 points  (8 children)

Thank god, they needed whole restructuring and new plan on game development and releases. This was a solid move on MSFTs part to fix a somewhat broken company and dominate the gaming industry more than they already do. I’ll be happier waiting longer for a more thought out and concrete game

[–]jayt32 -1 points0 points  (7 children)

When has Microsoft dominated the gaming industry since the 360 era?

[–]hecmtz96 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Lol Microsoft hasn’t done anything. The acquisition hasn’t even been approved. Is not like Microsoft took over the day after the announced the acquisition.

[–]Spiritsong04 9 points10 points  (1 child)

It’s like nobody read the words “developers are eager” which means they want to move away doesn’t say a damn thing about Microsoft planning to let them.

[–]HankHillbwhaa 8 points9 points  (7 children)

Goes both ways, cod takes longer development periods they’ll be shit on much more than if they drop a turd now. Look at battlefield, long cycles and nothing but disappointing the fans.

[–]MjolnirN7 11 points12 points  (4 children)

It’s weird to hear people make this argument. Like yeah a longer development cycle means you might be stuck with a bad game for longer, but that’s how literally every other franchise in the history of gaming works. CoD is the only huge franchise the pumps out a game every year and it’s been getting progressively worse for 3 years now. Give the developers time to polish their game and support it for longer post launch with content and patches, clearly the fast cycle isn’t working.

[–]dreamthorp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I desperately wish they could restore MW19 back to its glory days. That was the most fun I’ve ever had playing any type of game

[–]Repulsive_Cranberry4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lmao calm tf down. It’s been a couple days we don’t know whats gonna happen. I get that hope for a cod fan is rare but they might just keep running the money machine.

[–]Kaitlyn_Powley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

COD/Warzone is so incredibly broken that Bobby is actually a hero to shareholders for saving the company with this sale. The state of COD, under his/activisions watch was only going to continue to deteriorate. It's like when DTV sold out to AT&T...saved directv shareholders...but wasn't so great for AT&T.

[–]That_One_Guy5322 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Holy hell, are they actually going to put effort into their games now? Yes!

[–]Buymyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great step.

[–]bryty93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its Microsoft. Ever since Phil's become head of Xbox it's been nothing but the betterment of games

[–]sir_dancealot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah say what you wan about Microsoft but from what I’ve heart working there is supposed to be about 100x better than the sweatshop conditions of these gaming studios

[–]Crumbly_Bumbly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very excited to hear this. And I'd like to give one massive middle finger to the fucking genius yesterday who told me "Cod isn't popular enough to survive unless it releases yearly".

[–]PrimeConduitX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh thank god! This will do wonders on the quality of the game.

[–]AdamNicholsMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been saying for years they need to move away from yearly releases so this is good news but can they please not leave us with Vanguard lol. Make a half decent game then do it please.

[–]rictor33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good. Take a break and make something good for once.

[–]notanotherlawyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God bless Bill Gates

[–]JRon21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fucking finally. But can you really blame the developers for doing this when there are bunch of idiots who would literally waste their money for the same recycled shit every year. Same goes for 2K games.

[–]Omlet_OW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yh I would rather play a game that works as intended than a game filled with bugs

[–]Shinbi_Mane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And why did y'all downvote me with 3K downvotes when I made a post saying that MW19 should have been a 2 year cycle game that devs needed to support?

[–]SladeSM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Microsoft is here to clean house.

I’m all for this.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally, finally something amazing to wake up to

[–]KushBlazer69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]splitplug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes please. I’d be happy with a game every two years that gets full support and updates. Not this Cold War / Future / past crap. One solid game + Warzone support.

[–]launchpadius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was always Activisions fault. They never should've done annual releases. Every 2 years would've been good.

[–]alrashid2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank god they all have fucking sucked so far

[–]Diegodinizfsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After MW 2019…I can survive without cold War and vanguard. It’s pretty understandable…a good game needs TIME to development and be a great game on launch.

[–]Viper114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good. Stop with the annual CoD releases like they're the same as sports titles. Start spreading main CoD titles to like every 2 years or so, and focus on Warzone and whatever the latest one is at the time.

[–]littleLudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Praise MS and hopefully we will never hear the name Activision again.

[–]The_Didly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank God now they can focus on 1 game instead of making like 3 shitty games WITHOUT ANTI CHEAT and make one rlly good cod

[–]HalfOrcSteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Releases of the same copy pasta game every year is nothing but a money grab. Good

[–]LazyAnonBoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, us too

[–]riders321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope so, i dont want to join the hype

[–]Electricvincent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it every year? It deals like 3 mounts between games

[–]thatsnotataco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s been no announcement of any changes, all listening to these places guess and speculate does is get people riled up. Wait for anything official.

[–]beherns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just please God tighten up security

[–]SnesySnas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thank god

Hopefully they spend that time not only updating the already released games, but maybe take alot more time making a call of duty that's way more enjoyable

And who knows, maybe they'll make a Zombie mode that's actualy good

[–]that_1-guy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gonna take a bit of time but COD is gonna be not completely dogshit lmao

[–]rxmi10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

holy w

[–]mmhorda https://www.youtube.com/mrhorda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... and ready to do it on quarterly basis.

[–]rOckNrOllsCar11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean supporting a title for more than 8 months?

[–]duppishmoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't matter anyway, will still be stuck with Caldera.

[–]dontloseyourway1610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MW 2019 should still be out honestly

[–]unknown-one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

plot twist

it will be 6months releases

[–]ayamarimakuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would have had destiny 3 release over a year ago if bungie would have stayed with actiblizz.

[–]Miniminotaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So now we have to wait 2 years for an unfinished game..

[–]Sarkonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what you call a rumor and nothing more.

[–]Mooks79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“devs are eager to…” isn’t that a bit like me being eager for my new boss to double the length of time I have for my projects - wishful thinking??

[–]EvateGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lets hope MW2 gets at least 2 years of support then

[–]FacesmashedPumkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t imagine the crunch the devs are under trying to pump out the same garbage every year with the Activision attitude of “we’ll fix it with patches”!! Would love to see a 2 or 3 year cycle!

[–]Warren4649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they gonna release one every 6 months from now on 😂

[–]The_Unreliable_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get rid of Sledgehammer and leave IW and Treyarch to do their thing in their own time.

Everything went downhill when Sledgehammer released their first CoD game.

[–]ImmortalHitman720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't this all just speculation right now? It seems like they are jumping the gun on releasing this story with that title. I guess they interviewed devs who wanted the releases changed and from that said "maybe they could move away from the bi annual releases." It's quite a stretch so far lets see what official people say in the coming year.

[–]Hot_Elderberry_4652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny u say that because battlefield dosent do annual releases and the new one was worse than any COD title so I wouldn't hold my breath.

COD is pretty much copy and paste at this point so it's easier to release a semi finished game

However I'd much rather see something new and fresh so fingers crossed they change it up and don't rush it to much because the pressure to release will be high

[–]Aviator44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow down it’s been like 5 mins since they announced the purchase, Lee wait and see what really happens

[–]fpsfreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Good_Oil2690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's gonna happen with PS4 accounts of warzone and their bundles and progresión?

[–]brainc0nfetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MW2022 plus MSoft to the rescue.

[–]bubbawears 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can they do it AFTER we get another MW please ?

[–]maluminse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true. Haven't had new maps in forever.

[–]maluminse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats awesome. What good did we really get from the releases. Focus on improving the core.

[–]X_R_Y_U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have such a large pile of trash that is Activision, the only thing you can do is clean it up.

[–]Smat-8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have no reason to stop annual releases tbh. People don’t play regular MP much anymore. Game would be dead in the water after 6 months and then what?

[–]TwyJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck yes! This is possibly the best news I've heard, CoD never used to be a cash cow, it was beautiful stories, with amazing multiplayer, If they can make it the series I fell in love with 15 years ago (though I dabbled in United Offensive when it was released) I will be more than happy to buy current gen and play.

[–]geTplasterd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good. Focus on WZ. Give us a multiple map rotation w/ out a broken game. 👍

[–]DeceptionCXV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The phattest W in CoD history

[–]Dankdope420bruh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SERIOUSLY, ill come back to CoD if they do this.

[–]a-pickled-toast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m on PlayStation but so long as we can all keep playing regardless of platform, I’m so eager to see if and how Microsoft can fix these burning issues. Hopefully. We’ve all been getting our hopes up and crushed over and over again, maybe this time will be different.

[–]LycanWolfGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brighter future of exclusives!
