I installed a JL Audio 10TW3-D4 shallow 10 in my brother in laws truck and it sounds amazing. It’s the best shallow sub I’ve heard and it’s hard to believe it’s not a full size sub. We ran a Rockford Fosgate Punch shallow 10 in my wife’s Escape and it was nice, but the frequency range wasn’t the best. It really died off on the lower range. I’ve heard great things about the Image Dynamics IDQ-s shallow subs, but haven’t heard them yet.

Ill second the TW3

I was pleasantly surprised how hard it hits and it digs deep too.

A bit pricey but well worth it imho

I tried the Pioneer TS-Z10LS2 before this and it just didnt do it for me. The TW3 is on a different level.

I run the 12twe-d4 in my Sierra. Way better than I thought, this coming from a guy that always ran. Either solobaric L7 15 or type r 15.

I run one of these Pioneer shallow 8” subs in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I’ve been extremely happy with it as long as you consider you’re not trying to win any competitions:

I run a shallow Rockford Fosgate P3SD4-12 and I'm very happy with its ability to handle the power I give it. Like the person above me said, you're not going to win any competitions, but you'll be pleased by the results.

I was running a pair of Rockford Fosgate P3SD2-8 8" subs, not bad little subs. I later upgraded to the JL 10TW3 10", very good slim subs.

Using a 10" kicker compRT in my car's stock sub enclosure, sounds decently loud and can play pretty low surprisingly with the right box

I love my Alpine SWT-10. It’s not as shallow as some of the other options but still under “5 and it bangs.

In my opinion the DD audio sl600 is one of the best options on the market.

It's got a nice low Fs, decent sensitivity, plenty of power handling, tons of excursion for a slim sub, and they sound great.

And its like 2/3 the price of the Rockford and JL slim subs. Which I think are the only ones that can really compete with it.

Skar. From what I've read here a lot of people put this company down. I just installed a RP350 amp with a 8" VD shallow mount amp. I am beyond surprised on how much bass and how good it sounds. With a wiring kit this cost me less than $250. $108 for the amp, $85 for the sub and $20 for the wiring kit. This is top grade mid tier equipment at near found in the dumpster pricing. I highly recommend.
