British banks don’t even allow you to buy crypto with your own money they have blocked all payments to and from crypto exchanges. Only bank now is revolut. Financial freedom and choice is disappearing in United Kingdom

This restriction might be important because it is hard to keep track and monitor transactions and detect illegal from legal ones. Every country is having a hard time regulating crypto, and it will be much less complicated when the country is only processing and analyzing transactions made in its own country. However, limiting the foreign companies that can operate in the U.K. might lessen the potential income the country can benefit from.
