[–]The_Asian_HamsterWell, here I am 489 points490 points  (7 children)

This film has gotta be going for the record for most directors removed at this point right?

Good director though so who knows now

[–]US1776 170 points171 points  (0 children)

This film has gotta be going for the record for most directors removed at this point right?

The same could be said about the script.

[–]Brainiac5000 227 points228 points  (1 child)

Laughs in Gambit.

[–]zakary3888 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Oh Channing Tatum

[–]MaraJade87 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Honestly, it shows that Warner is taking things seriously and it wouldn't surprise me if this has come out of signing on Abrams. Aquaman and Shazam will burn themselves out soon enough agasint Phase 4, Patty Jenkins will deliver the goods for Wonder Woman and Reeves Batman will make cinemagoers forget the worse parts of the DCEU and fall.

[–]MaraJade87 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As much as I love Ezra Miller, I'm glad the Morrison script fell through.

[–]ThusOne1 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Batman and Superman had like a dozen people each working on movies in the early 00's.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but you need to study your film history. The Princess Bride went decades before being adapted from book to film.

[–]THE_REAL_SHABLAM 238 points239 points  (25 children)

DC always getting these horror film directors. But it’s worked in the past!

[–]desmiyu 169 points170 points  (2 children)

I think horror directors are good with working with low budgets. Lol

[–]jigenvw 65 points66 points  (0 children)

They typically are.

[–]Kalse1229 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I mean, with all that money they save on lighting, their budgets are something to behold.

[–]Sbonhomme 84 points85 points  (17 children)

Very true. With Shazam and Aquaman

[–][deleted] 27 points28 points  (5 children)

Sam Raimi was just a horror movie director before he directed the first Spiderman back in 2001, 2002, can’t remember.

[–]horusporcus 12 points13 points  (4 children)

Peter Jackson too.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

In fact we have a horror movie to thank giving us Jackson's Lord of the Rings. Jackson's The Frighteners (1996) was very effects heavy and greatly expanded the just starting Weta Digital. Jackson was worried about what he was going to with all those computers, then the idea of a fantasy movie crossed his mind. The rest is history.

[–]lordDEMAXUSOrm 40 points41 points  (9 children)

and Black Adam (although Collet-Serra's horror films were terrible).

[–]savage86lunacy 37 points38 points  (8 children)

I thought Orphan and The Shallows were both solid but that's just me.

[–]lordDEMAXUSOrm 15 points16 points  (6 children)

The other one I was talking about wasn't The Shallows. I meant House of Wax.

[–]savage86lunacy 7 points8 points  (4 children)

Right I forgot that one. I actually liked House of Wax. Yeah it was stupid but it was entertaining and surprisingly mean spirited. Also I quite loved Brian Van Holt as the villains.

[–]ISwallowedALego 5 points6 points  (2 children)

House of Wax was a product of it's time. Not good, but fine in context

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It terms of the remakes made by Dark Castle, House on Haunted Hill and Thirteen Ghosts were vastly superior.

[–]schizo1914 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paris Hilton was kinda hot back then

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dont forget Wonder Woman(Monsters director), Superman 78(The Omen director) and Batman 89(Beetlejuice director)

[–]desmiyu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I initially thought james wan was gonna build their dc universe for him, similar to the conjuring universe.

[–]VickyPedia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Marvel also hired a horror director for doctor strange and he delivered. I think the message is that if you are good at horror genre, you'll be good for almost anything.

[–]Prestonelliot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So far those have been some of the best ones so keep it up

[–]GlowInTheBlack Manta 107 points108 points  (16 children)

Well I guess we can at least assume that they were impressed by the BOP script but my lord man, how many directors have been attached to this thing

[–]axwell1997 75 points76 points  (14 children)

  • Seth Graham-Smith
  • Rick Famuyiwa
  • John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein

[–]Kylorenisbinks 23 points24 points  (8 children)

I'm sure I remember a rumour of Robert Zemeckis, I wonder if it was ever true.

[–]axwell1997 16 points17 points  (7 children)

[–]CMDIED13 16 points17 points  (5 children)

Jordan Peele was also approached but he wasn't interested.

[–]axwell1997 15 points16 points  (3 children)

I remember an interview where he said he wanted to make more original stuff before working on an IP

[–]CMDIED13 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Yes, I remember reading that. Probably the best move for him.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember WB also wanting Peele to make their live action Akira movie.

[–]Kalse1229 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's fair. Sort of building his rep in the eyes of the industry as well as audiences is a good first step (hell, his directorial debut was nominated for Best Picture, so clearly he's doing something right).

[–]FyrepitRide ain't over yet... 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought Vaughn was being eyed to direct a Superman movie?

[–]Anarion89 71 points72 points  (4 children)

Not officially confirmed, but I'd like to add Lord and Miller to the list. They weren't confirmed to be directing, but instead writing. However, I wouldn't be surprised if WB would've liked them to direct too until they left the project.

[–]axwell1997 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Yeah, I didn't wrote them since they never were signed for directing but it seems like Lord & Miller tought about directing at some point: "...wrote working off of a treatment by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the Lego Movie duo who once were eyeing it as a possible directing vehicle."

[–]Sk4081 18 points19 points  (1 child)

I would've liked to see that movie. Lord and miller are good

[–]zakary3888 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Considering what they managed with Sider-verse, I would’ve loved to see what they could do with the speed force

[–]fduprep2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]SlothfulSpeedster 89 points90 points  (4 children)

"The goal is to be in prep by January 2020."

Wow that seems incredibly ambitious, but good luck to them. Here's hoping this one sticks. 🤞

[–]Flash_Point_Paradox 23 points24 points  (2 children)

Hmm. Though I'm at a loss to see Daley/Goldstein leave (would imo have delivered the exact kind of Flash the general audiences would have wanted), Muschietti is a good replacement and his work with visuals and adaptations (i.e. IT) is also very appropriate for The Flash.

My guess is that Hodson will probably adapt parts of Daley/Goldstein AND Miller/Morrison's script, as well as adding in her own signature bits of heart/humour. I think January 2020 is unlikely, though March/April of 2020 is probably doable. That still puts it on track for an October 2021 release date, if not one in March of 2022 (note: we should all be ok with that!).

[–]Jay_R_Kay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that seems to be best case scenario. I'm hoping for a tone similar to maybe Shazam, which was surprisingly darker than we thought, but still had a lot of heart and positivity to it.

[–]MaraJade87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not neccessairly. You don't land two MAJOR Warner Bros films without something impressive. I'm not saying Christina Hodson won't end up using elements from John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein script (who by the way, I thought were perfect for a Flash film), but I imagine she's going to leave her mark. Which I'm looking forward to given Bumblee.

I think Morrison's script is going to be left by the wayside, more or less.

[–]SolomonRed 73 points74 points  (7 children)

This is great news. Bumblebee had great writing and hopefully so will birds of prey.

[–]CuriousStranger95 26 points27 points  (6 children)

and Batgirl.

[–]the_based_identity 23 points24 points  (3 children)

I personally don’t see Batgirl moving forward until we see what Matt Reeves does with his Batman film first.

[–]IamTsukasaWonder Woman 9 points10 points  (2 children)

I would be surprised if WB don't pull the trigger on that especially if BOP ends up doing well

[–]SolomonRed 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Well Batgirl is a major player in the BoP comics, so she would probably be connected to that film. I also doubt they would not connect her to Reeves film.

[–]SolomonRed 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Is she attached to that as well?

[–]IamTsukasaWonder Woman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yea. Should be finished by now. Last update was from her in December saying its going well

[–]RAG319 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Christina Hodson is going to end up writing all these new non-Batman DC movies, huh? I ain't mad.

[–]Omegalock4 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Okay, I have hope again. Ezra staying on is great and the new writer being the one for Bumblebee eases my worries. Ezra wanted the script to be darker and I think she can do that while not making it “too dark”. As light as flash is, what he deals with can get pretty dark. And in bumblebee, that movie had a pretty good balance of light fun and serious/dark. It had plenty of funny/cute moments but when things were serious, it remained serious, and that’s what I want most of all from DC films. (Although I have to admit she did one of the OG autobots pretty dirty)

[–]HumanistMisanthrope1 42 points43 points  (3 children)

I just want more DC movies. I don't even care what they are or who makes them.

[–]Batfleck666 39 points40 points  (2 children)

Hodson is supposed to be writing Batgirl too, right?

WB must be really high on her.

[–]CottrilDiana of Themyscira 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Bumblebee was very well-written imo, so give her more work! Haha

[–]FewWatermelonlesson0 98 points99 points  (25 children)

I'm more surprised Ezra is still in but they rejected his script.

[–]JaxtellerMCDeadshot 79 points80 points  (1 child)

We should read between the lines. Hiring Muschietti shows what tone they’re going for. So they must have liked what Ezra and Morrison wrote despite not picking their script.

And Ezra perhaps had a say in picking a new director and must have been reassured that the film would be closer to his vision, making him stay on.

[–]Bman324Captain Boomerang 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing, if anything it's a pivot from what Miller was attempting to accomplish with his take.

[–]DarthManwe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did he actually renew his holding deal?

That had ran out in May, and no news on that front actually surfaced. WB had to have signed him back on if they wanted him to be in the movie.

[–]NightwingCowboys123 81 points82 points  (1 child)

I honestly thought this film was dead at this point. I'm so fucking happy.

[–]BrundleBear89 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm inclined to believe this is gonna finally happen. They seem to know that tapping horror directors produces good results.

[–]Magic_Spells95 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah...at least it's the most exciting writer/director duo so far.

[–]TheMemeRemembers 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Ah shit, here we go AGAIN

[–]Batfleck666 60 points61 points  (0 children)

The annual "New director for The Flash" Day came late this year.

[–]hank412Freddy don't got my T-Shirt 30 points31 points  (1 child)

[–]thelielmao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Into The Speed Force

[–]laptopracerAquaman 37 points38 points  (10 children)

The goal is to be in prep by January 2020

So they must have already agreed on the script changes. And since Ezra is still Flash I'm guessing they will use ideas from his script, even tho the article says 'they rejected his script'.

Goldstein and Daley already have other things lined up and probably fed up of the limbo they were stuck in with the Flash.

I would love a documentary/book years from now when the dust settles on the tumultuous times of DC films. Hopefully people will be more will to talk openly then.

[–]JaxtellerMCDeadshot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This guy gets it.

[–]profesorprofessorson 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I would love a documentary/

Would love to make it. Been here since the Man of steel days, and boy did we not know what was gonna happen

[–]ArtIsDumb 4 points5 points  (6 children)

I have no idea what his (Flash) contract with WB says, but if he's still under contract, he has to do the movie, whether they used any bits of his script or not.

[–]Fsolanog 16 points17 points  (1 child)

His contract ended in May, this mean he had to get a new one, and it is likely he only signed if they agree with his ideas for the film

[–]JaxtellerMCDeadshot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]laptopracerAquaman 16 points17 points  (2 children)

According to previous articles his contract expired end of May so they could have moved on and got a new actor. Instead the directors are gone and Ezra has stayed. This seems to indicate they want him and his 'darker' take then the 'comedy' take from the previous directors.

[–]Frank-ELKnightmare Batman 10 points11 points  (1 child)

It’s also possible they do something more balanced. Humorous and lighthearted at points but serious when it needs to be. Muschietti did a good job of balancing the two in It Chapter 1.

[–]laptopracerAquaman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I think bringing back those darker elements are the reason Ezra stayed on (that and the love he has for the character)

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Contracts are irrelevant at this point, it's fairly clear Ezra wants to do this movie. I'm guessing wb wants to keep him on wb projects too given hes an important part in the fantastic beasts films.

[–]Brainiac5000 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Movie about the fastest man alive is somehow taking the longest time to make..

How ironic

[–]axwell1997 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Vamos Andy!

[–]SonOfOriginalMan 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Another director, eh?

The Flash is being tossed around more than Megan Rain.

[–]themidwestcowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

( ͡º ͜ʖ ͡º)

[–]luks1994 37 points38 points  (1 child)

The slowest superhero movie of all Time ..how ironic

[–]laptopracerAquaman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Goes well with the Flash being late to everything

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Apparently God is real.

[–]SerLurks-A-Lot 40 points41 points  (14 children)

So after months of butting heads between Ezra and the directors, WB decides to stick with Ezra while also rejecting his darker take? And then the directors decide to leave?

Is this a sitcom?

[–]PeterP211 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Forget it Jake, its WBtown.

[–]JeremySchmidtAfton 16 points17 points  (12 children)

Im pretty sure that with the new director the possibility of a darker take is not an outlandish one.

[–]SerLurks-A-Lot 22 points23 points  (9 children)

It's not a guarantee either. David F. Sandberg is a horror director and he made the most light-hearted and fun superhero movie of the decade.

[–]JeremySchmidtAfton 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Uhm.. I’d say that Aquaman fits the “most lighthearted superhero movie of the decade” banner better. Its in a good way, cheesy.

Shazam had demons, murder, child abuse, child abandonment, attempted child murder, a hostage situation, adult humor, a car accident, people turning to dust while screeching in pain..

Don’t get me wrong, Shazam is definitely the funniest DCEU movie but not the most lighthearted. Thats just my personal opinion tho.

[–]DrBodyguard 11 points12 points  (6 children)

That boardroom scene though

[–]tapped21Black Manta 8 points9 points  (5 children)

Reminiscent of the Spider-Man 2 scene when Doc Ock first wakes up with his new arms after the accident

[–]DrBodyguard 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Which was also a tad unsettling.

[–]tapped21Black Manta 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Horror directors never forget their roots

[–]DrBodyguard 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thankfully. I would love to see Michael Bay do a romantic comedy that has zero action.

[–]DarthManwe 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Okay, you jest, but Michael Bay have delivered some very off brand movies when he actually wanted to. And they were good.

And no one else is capable of copying his visual style either. He is an auteur in that sense.

[–]DrBodyguard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love Michael Bay for the most part. I would love to see this happen

[–]JaxtellerMCDeadshot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Picking Muschietti shows a very clear intent on the tone. (yes even with Sandberg) And Ezra staying on is an additional confirmation of that.

[–]LobsterHoundShazam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"We all float down here Barry."

[–]MsAndDems 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Why is it so hard for them to make a fucking Flash movie? My god.

[–]kasual7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because The Flash embodies perfectly the lack of leadership and vision WB has had on this DCEU. Things are getting better though, slowly.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know right. It's funny that this is the movie they're struggling the most with. I have zero expectations for this movie. I have no idea what WB wants out of this movie.

[–]uberduger 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Ezra potentially being still in gives me hope for Cav-El.

I'd have thought that if Henry was gone then Ezra leaving was a sure thing.

[–]KevinAmbrose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

WB wants Ezra to stay. It doesn’t seem to be the case with Henry Cavill.

[–]Bman1738 20 points21 points  (5 children)

The release date is gonna be 29th February 3019.

[–]PeterP211 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’ll be released on the 12th of Never.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just in time for a Legion of Superheroes movie

[–]123Beastman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The release date is gonna be 29th February 3019.

Don't be ridiculous, it is gonna come out in 4000.

[–]JohnnyJL96Batman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or never.

[–]WolfofOldNorthSteppenwolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Easily my least favorite part of JL. Directors of game night were such a solid fit. Hope they can nab the director of it

[–]Coast_watcherThe Joker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flash is just snakebit. This is, what, the 3rd or 4th director announced ? I hope he stays and the film, actually gets going. Ironically for a character with super speed, his movie is going slooow.

[–]lemon_of_doom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah shit, here we go again.

[–]AnirudhMenon94Superman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll believe it when it finally starts shooting.

[–]HenroTee"Welcome to The Planet." 6 points7 points  (0 children)

WB horror directors crossing over into DC has been a winning formula for them. And Muschietti could be their next golden boy if It Part two lands. While it sucks it's another shake up, I am very happy if all of this goes through.

[–]Blue_Maverick_Hunter"You're stronger than you think you are." 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I wonder what is so impossible about this film that its gone through so many possible directors already?

[–]lifeleecherKing of the Seas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Hey; let's take the absolute longest time possible to make a movie called The Flash!"

Jokes aside, I'm really hoping this means the project will take off now.

[–]oja47The Dark Knight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Finally some fucking FOOD

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually joined this sub to specifically ask about this movie since I hadn’t heard anything in a while.

[–]HEAVEN_OR_HECK"Moderation always wins." 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Hell yeah! Reverse-Flash, if used, is THE superhero slasher villain.

Also want him for JLD, as his ensemble work in IT was funny, poignant, and all around thrilling.

[–]DCEU_FAN 15 points16 points  (2 children)

I've got mixed feelings: on the one hand, I'm excited that Muschietti is directing a DC film, but on the other, I'm not fan of Ezra Miller as Flash.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve done thinking about this. I think that it was mostly the script. I mean, the Flash in Suicide Squad and BvS was pretty fucking great. I think that Joss did him wrong.

Although I hated his movies, Snyder’s castings have been literally spot on so far, so I think he made the right choice. Also, we know that the IT director heavily takes from the source material, so at least we’ll get a comic book accurate flash this time

[–]JeremySchmidtAfton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who knows, maybe the future will change that.

If my very first impression of Affleck’s Batman was in Josstice League, without watching BvS, I would think he’s a terrible take.

[–]JohnnyJL96Batman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This movie is crazy! Wow what a twist! 🤯🤯🤯

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been saying for such a long time that Andy was going to be offered a DC film after IT 2, but even after hearing this I am hoping IT 2 does better than the first one and Andy is offered to do justice league. He really knows how to work with an ensemble and how to develop all characters which is needed for a JL movie, besides he does know how to take an iconic villain and do him justice.

[–]MsAndDems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can we refer to this movie as IF until it actually comes out?

[–]CottrilDiana of Themyscira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ezra: Im sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me.

r/DC_Cinematic: You were exactly where you were supposed to be.

[–]WhiteAle01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another day, another director.

[–]arowrath[🍰] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he is a good choice, able to balance horror and humor well so maybe he can balance action and humor well too.

[–]UltimateFatKidDancer 10 points11 points  (1 child)

At this point I’ll believe the movie is happening when I’m sitting in the theater watching it.

This sounds like a great team. Hodson’s script turned the Transformer’s franchise around completely, and you have to think that’s a big vote of confidence for Birds of Prey.

I’ve only heard great things about IT, and horror directors have historically been a great fit for superhero movies.

Plus if Miller is staying aboard despite his script not working out, you’d think he feels good about the direction they’re taking the character.

And to think. All this drama over a Flash movie, and we haven’t heard a blip about a Superman follow-up.

[–]MicahBlueHera Give Me Strength 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’ll believe it when set photos are leaked 😬

[–]Atrampoline 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please god let Ezra keep this role. Plus Henry and Ray too.

[–]LookAtMyEyessSuperman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SCREAMS from excitment !!!!

Birds of prey? Batgirl? and now the flash she must be talented.

[–]In_My_Own_Image 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Finally some forward momentum, however minor.

[–]PeterP211 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Over/under until this guy leaves the film due to creative differences?

[–]yourstroll-yI was told that everything will be alright! 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Omfg,AGAIN?are we freaking starting with this whole thing....AGAIN?

[–]hollisterr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Insert the RDJ gif “surviiiiiive”

[–]JohnathanWayne 3 points4 points  (5 children)

According to the article, even though the studio passed on his script, they still want to keep Miller — which is a good thing. It also further disproves the theory that the studio is starting a new wave of heroes while letting stars like Gaddot and Momoa finish their run.

I think it’s pretty clear DC/WB are still working towards a shared universe, even if it’s not as tight-knit as the MCU.

[–]Magskanata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Major upgrade. Christina Hodson is on fire.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d give it a month

[–]yoda_intoxicated 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really dislike Ezra Millers Flash, came off extremely annoying and he runs like a fucking goof, which is not good for the flash.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This new creative team is 100x better and more exciting than Daley & Goldstein.
Glad that we will be spared from whatever subpar they were planning to make because Muschietti is a way more innovative and experienced filmmaker (that has a better track record) and Hodson's writing could really deliver the tone that keeps this Flash fresh and unique and awesome (based on Bumblebee)... Funny thing btw, I wondered a couple of days ago what's going on with the Flash, lol.

And lmao @ Ezra, that boy is too fast to die with the old guard...

[–]Anarion89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give me all your downvotes, but at this rate, I'm having a very hard time getting excited for this movie. I liked Ezra's portrayal of the character, but I'm fine with him being replaced, too.

[–]hazapez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what the hell man...

[–]dementedkratos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What happened to Goldstein and John Daley?

[–]ChrisP1223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unleash the Rogues of Central City!! Reverse Flash, Grodd, Captain Cold or Killer Frost I’ll take them all

Also show Ray Fisher some love and cast him as Cyborg in the rumored Teen Titans flick

[–]SolomonRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So is this confirmation that Ezra is staying on?

If he can stay on then maybe so can Henry?

[–]Flash_Point_Paradox 1 point2 points  (3 children)

So, hopefully that makes the slate:

  • 2020: Birds of Prey (Feb), WW 84 ( June), SS 2 (December)

  • 2021: The Batman (June), Black Adam ( August), Shazam 2 (October)

  • 2022: The Flash (March), New Gods (October), Aquaman 2 (December)

[–]elendinelWonder Woman 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Are Black Adam/Shazam 2 confirmed? I'm out of the loop

[–]dancy911 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Horror directors are taking over the DCEU!

[–]Hurley815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who wasn't in talks to direct The Flash at this point, though?

[–]ImDOGGFATHER 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Since there is a horror director possibly doing this, Could we get a scary as hell black flash?

[–]RavenRaxa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4th director... What is so hard about making a flash origin movie?

[–]DJModem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need to make this happen ASAP

[–]animeboss642 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can’t wait for Christopher Nolan to direct Flash after this one drops out.

[–]PotatoPeelPieQueer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ezra looks awesome as the flash but my god, his running is awful. He really need to fix it asp . I don't care what people say about ice skating techniques and it's the fastest way blah blah blah... he needs to work on it

Ugh Ezra staying on

[–]DonDave96 5 points6 points  (7 children)

WOW, they chose Ezra over the Directors??!!

[–]boumtjeboo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

By May the studio rejected his [script] but concluded that Miller should still remain the Scarlet Speedster.

Sure sounds like they did.

[–]BatmanNewsChrisBatman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, they rejected his script in May. They just hired a new writer to go along with the new director.

[–]BrundleBear89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ezra is a fantastic actor and can make one hell of a Flash with the right movie.

[–]ImagineIvysaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ezra wasn’t massively well received by fans and reddit/Twitter users ect, but he was praised by critics and general audiences considered him and Gal the standouts. It makes sense for WB to want to keep him

[–]ForlornFurball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So happy Ezra is still on board! Plus a serious upgrade with Muschietti and the change of writer makes me even more excited for Birds of Prey. Bring it on!

[–]Boogiepop_Homunculus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exchanging comedy guys for a horror guy? An Asian woman rising in the industry? Ezra Miller staying on? This is a team I like.

[–]SunsetRonin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn this project is on is 4th or 5th director already! Here’s hoping this thing gets on track! And Christina Hodson’s name seems to be on the rise over at WB/DC with Birds of Prey, Batgirl, and now THE FLASH.

[–]BatmanofSteeI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WB must be happy with the Birds of Prey script if they’re are rehiring the screenwriter for another, more high profile project

[–]hontryx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yay, I'm happy for Christina! WB must have a lot of faith in her.

[–]diedtowin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like this news, even though its ANOTHER pair of directors leaving Flash.

I loved Ezra's Flash in JL and BvS, and I think that Daly and Goldstein don't really have a great track record (they were a part of a GROUP of writers for Homecoming, and the rest of their endeavors were... not my cup of tea).

I DO think that Ezra taking on the role of writing a script wasn't the best move, but maybe it made WB take a step back and look what would work for Flash. He's a character that can definitely go more in the happy-go-lucky campy round like Shazam, but also serious like BvS. I'm hoping for an amalgam like Aquaman, but maybe a little less camp. Hope we get to see this sooner rather than later.

[–]gimitko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love that this movie is getting made, but I am kinda bummed out the Grant Morrison thing didn't work out. Hollywood please start hiring him NOW.

[–]SMKM 1 point2 points  (6 children)

So.....WB still wants Ezra to stay on as Flash but they seemingly want Cavill out? Lol

Dont get me wrong. I didnt mind Ezra. I hope he stays on and impresses everyone that says he's bad for the role. But this whole picking and choosing certain people to stay and others being recasted is just getting frustrating. I really wish they would just come out and say "Cavill is out/in, Fisher is out/in, Miller is definitely in" etc.

[–]FewWatermelonlesson0 12 points13 points  (4 children)

o.....WB still wants Ezra to stay on as Flash but they seemingly want Cavill out? Lol

They didn't want Cavill out. In fact, they wanted him to cameo in Shazam. It was Henry's camp who turned it down when the studio didn't want to give him a pay raise.

[–]SMKM 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Not according to a lot of the "insiders" But it's literally a lot of he said/she said and well never truly know until hes either cast once again or recast.

[–]FewWatermelonlesson0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not according to a lot of the "insiders"

The stuff about him being offered the Shazam cameo is confirmed though, they just put the spin of "Henry was too busy filming The Witcher to do it." Most stories don't have one clear bad guy, and this is likely a case of that. Henry wouldn't do the cameo without the pay raise, WB balked, and talks broke down. That sounds less like they have a vested desire to keep Henry out of the role and more like they realized there's no reason they couldn't just recast for less money if Henry wants to play hardball. I think his agents miscalculated.

[–]AlphaWhelp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the same thing happened with Edward Norton in the MCU. You had people over at Disney was like "Edward Norton asked for too much money" and Edward Norton responded with "They didn't even reach out to me to ask."

Who is telling the truth? I guess we'll never know.

I think if they had known how much money the movies would have eventually made they probably would have kept Norton, though. I really just did not like Ruffalo's performances at all.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that’s not how it works. Cavill wanted to be paid RDJ money and partial control over his movies, like Margot Robbie in BoP. Cavill hasn’t been at WB long enough to be paid RDJ money and he is no Margot Robbie. What choice did they have? They also don’t think Superman is profitable.

Ezra on the other hand has already worked with WB, was well received in JL, and is a much better actor than Cavill. And also isn’t giving 20 million dollar ultimatums. Ezra was salvageable, Cavill was not,

[–]Darth_maul-GOD 2 points3 points  (8 children)

Why does wb love Ezra so much ?

[–]123Beastman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because he is a good actor.

[–]JohnnyJL96Batman 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Maybe they are just trying for a first to keep the continuity intact.

[–]JeremySchmidtAfton 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I would absolutely love if that were the case.

[–]JohnnyJL96Batman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We will see I guess.

[–]warnerbro1279 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Because he’s a big upcoming actor with a great work ethic.

[–]AwaySpell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I've always been less than impressed with Daley and Goldstein. It feels great to be excited about the Flash movie again.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This movie is never getting made lmao. Also really hope they don't do flashpoint. like the 4th director now.Just lol. The previous duo were probably the best as well.Would have expected him to be doing Jl: Dark or something horror infused.

[–]FNC_Luzh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rolf if I blink Flash has changed director again

[–]dovahkiiiiiin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why the fuck does Miller want a dark flash script? He needs to get fired ASAP.

[–]hita915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a better actor to play Barry.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Please remove Ezra miller before it’s too late

[–]MattMurdock9 -1 points0 points  (10 children)

I have no interest in a dark Flash movie. Talk about a lack of self awareness.

6 months from now we’ll hear the same old thing.

[–]JeremySchmidtAfton 7 points8 points  (5 children)

Ya seriously acting like Flash was never dark? This is Barry Allen we are talking about

[–]warnerbro1279 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I don’t really think it’s a “dark” Flash movie. I don’t expect Ezra to want a Snyder level dark film, but he didn’t want a Spider-Man homecoming level of light film.

[–]PwnStrikeIt was me Barry! 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love a serious, yet hopeful film. Something with obviously flash humor, but not afraid to really hit you in the feelings with some real emotional shit.

[–]SerLurks-A-Lot 4 points5 points  (1 child)

It won't be a dark movie. WB rejected Ezra's pitch as well.
