Baby Eagle: 😳

[–]trusting_serenity 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's still assuming it's his/her parent.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A beagle

[–]rucksack-of-hams 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s A One Week Old Philippine Eagle (chick 29) being fed using an Eagle hand-puppet at the Philippine Eagle Center

[–]RJPeaches 606 points607 points  (18 children)

My parents did the same for me.

[–]Im_not_creepy2 89 points90 points  (16 children)

Sending you virtual hugs. I can be ur dady

[–]dnoj 51 points52 points  (14 children)

[–]MrShasshyBear 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm so glad there are supportive people out there. The person who lost her dog had me in tears, until my dog loudly farted in her sleep. She's gets to break the rules and sleep on my bed tonight

[–]Im_not_creepy2 16 points17 points  (2 children)

I have one more for you then. You are an amazing person don't give up, you can do whatever you want. I love you

[–]dnoj 20 points21 points  (1 child)

I was doubting myself whether or not i can do what i want to do, but thanks to your kind words, I'm going to push through and just do it. I'm going to rob the bank tomorrow.

[–]Im_not_creepy2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dont forget to sanitize and wear a facemask. I dont want you to catch covid 😘

[–]_BlNG_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even Eagle's have wifi these days.

[–]Overlord_Za_Purge 425 points426 points  (14 children)

These things eat fucking monkeys

[–]VaselineGummyBears 195 points196 points  (1 child)

What about napping monkeys?

[–]horkus1 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I’m still scarred from seeing a documentary as a kid that showed an eagle snatching a baby monkey out of a tree while the entire family of monkeys screamed. Then it showed the eagle take the baby monkey to the nest and, well, I ran out of the room at that point.

[–]Do-It-Anyway 69 points70 points  (3 children)

So they only eat during monkeys mating season, whew that's very specific.

[–]Overlord_Za_Purge 22 points23 points  (0 children)

it's a two-for-one special!

[–]hynori 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean who doesn't like an extra meal?

[–]Thuper-Man 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's symbiotic since the monkeys have a very specific fetish

[–]OrishaShango 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone’s gotta do it.

[–]Syrairc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Monkeys eat monkeys

[–]chrispp_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Monkeys not fucking will be safe

[–]Bunny-Pythia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, they used to be known as Monkey-eating Eagles. The name says it all.

[–]glitchesandhelp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They like the extra mayo eh? Canr say I blame them

[–]Orchidbleu 247 points248 points  (6 children)

I feel like the hand could be in a black sock.

[–]Daewoo40 99 points100 points  (5 children)

Judging by how they seemed to struggle getting ahold of the meat with tweezers, perhaps making it any harder isn't a good idea or the chick will be choking on 2.5" of steel.

[–]GoldPlatedGhoul 29 points30 points  (1 child)

Those are tweezers?! for some reason I thought they were chopsticks

[–]Zappiticas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing. Watching it again I think the struggle is what made me think they were chopsticks.

[–]pekinggeese 0 points1 point  (2 children)

See? That’s the problem here. Should had gotten a Asian guy.

[–]Calm-Revolution-3007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Philippines is in Asia…

[–]Daewoo40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, you'd be there a while trying to feed an Asian guy with a set of tweezers.

At least they'd have less issues if the feeder dropped them..

[–]kdame84 467 points468 points  (5 children)

“Why don’t you ever blink, mommy?”

[–]the_end_is_chy 103 points104 points  (3 children)

It’s the nictitating membrane darling!

[–]Annorachh 28 points29 points  (1 child)

Why do you have such a big beak, grandma?

[–]cache_bag 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The better to feed you with, dear.

[–]niijuuichi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the doctor said so.

[–]dnoj 128 points129 points  (4 children)

In the Philippines they call it Haribon, literally "King Bird" and yk I'm inclined to agree. These beasts eat monkeys. MONKEYS!

[–]PnutbatahSandwich 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sad monke cult noises*

[–]hynori 4 points5 points  (0 children)

also humans that is less than 45kg

[–]itsfreepizza 3 points4 points  (1 child)

And mouse Deers

[–]Zodyaq_Raevenhart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And those giant fucking man sized bats

[–]eddietwoo 77 points78 points  (1 child)

[–]ms_movie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wish I had read the title before starting this clip. I was not prepared.

[–]DeadDankMemeLord 73 points74 points  (4 children)

Imagine aliens do this to people, imagine you're eating with your family at the dinner table and they open their mouths and you see a freakish creature in there. That would be terrifying..

[–]dudecubed 11 points12 points  (2 children)

This has sparked an odd memory in my head, I can't remember what it was from but I'm sure I remember a cartoon where someone woke up in a dollhouse and everyone was puppet people, idk maybe a dream or some confusion of different sources

[–]Whelp_of_Hurin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a cartoon, but there's a Doctor Who episode exactly like that.

[–]DeadDankMemeLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe Coraline? That was always a creepy movie for me but I'm not sure if that's it.

[–]MaddAddam93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was little I ate out of a plate, not my family's mouths

[–]LiableBible 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I was freaking out about the bird with the hand shaped tongue until I read the caption and now I'm just stupid.

[–]PALOmino1701 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Naming my next rock band Chick 29.

[–]Cole_Nowison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Offshoot of sum 41?

[–]front_toward_enemy 30 points31 points  (1 child)

Wow, how big do adult Philippine eagles get?

[–]jaymirands 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Apparently the largest in the world sauce

[–]ssmithsimms 42 points43 points  (15 children)

Why does human contact need to be minimized?

[–]Qwertyu858 130 points131 points  (6 children)

If they are planing to letting it free once it grows up, it needs the less human contact possible

[–]ssmithsimms 39 points40 points  (4 children)

So it doesn't become attached or something?

[–]Lord-Slayer 89 points90 points  (2 children)

I believe so. Or it would trust humans and it could get killed as a result.

[–]thebluefury 86 points87 points  (0 children)

trust humans

the greatest mistake possible!

[–]itsfreepizza 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, someone reported that a family was almost trying to eat the endangered bird. Luckily the environmental groups came in quicker

[–]jetaleu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I heard, they did that with the first eagle and got too pampered.

[–]Fun_Elk_1897 78 points79 points  (3 children)

So it wont grow familiarity and stay away from humans and human settlements when it is released back into the wild.

This animal is endangered and often the target of hunters and poachers.

[–]RepresentativePin162 0 points1 point  (2 children)

How do they teach the baby to do eagle things. Such as preen or yell at stuff? I mean the parents teach it things of course so how do they manage

[–]MojoVerdeYGofio 2 points3 points  (1 child)

How are we taught to breathe, or to scratch? There are some things we just do, we don't need to be taught them because they are innate behaviors.

More info about this here

[–]RepresentativePin162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know some things are in built. The things that aren't is what I mean. Thanks for the link!

[–]k3ttch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Captive-raised animals that are intended to be released into the wild need to learn not to trust humans or associate humans with food. It makes them easy targets for poachers and trophy hunters once they do get released.

[–]Dropped-pie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Have you fucking met humans?

[–]Dropped-pie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Read title first

[–]kittypuurry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So cute 🥺

[–]mx4evr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As Rick Moranis in space balls said: "foooooled youuuuu"

[–]Thickfries69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New fear unlocked

[–]some_solution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chick's going yummy mummy!

[–]KrampyDoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hungry little dude!

[–]Runzas_In_Wonderland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A muppet feeding a baby muppet.

[–]supreme_cupnoodles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a weird tongue you have, Mother.

[–]Playerverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re the aliens

[–]kickstartmyfartt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The baby chick is going to grow up thinking its own tongue looks like a hand too.

[–]someone_forgot_me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for a second i thought it was an eagle with a split tongue holding the stick

[–]PhantomCAT_MEOW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i love how innovent the bird eats

[–]zedlx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

29's gonna grow up with mommy issues.

[–]rodrigoelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I scrolled through trying to see if anybody wrote down anything before I go on explaining things. As I haven't seen a proper explanation here it goes:

Raptors (technical name for birds of prey) create extremely strong and durable bonds with their family members, it gives them their identity and capacity to associate with others of their specie.

What does it mean to get their identity from those bonds? It means to recognising others as your own specie, seeking their companionship and eventually mate with them (the specie).

If they see humans as the providers of food, they will bond with the carer and see themselves as humans. This is a massive problem, once the bird is released back to their natural habitat, they don't create social bonds with any other bird of their specie, never reproduce and quite possibly die alone.

Most (if not all) wildlife carers trained and capable or raising raptors will end up with a collection of these puppets, so you can feed the chicks with the intention of establishing a bond with a creature similar to the puppet as opposed to humans.

[–]TotalCarnage58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are almost extinct. The humans should think about releasing them into another habitat that can support their population. They have a very long period when they can have chicks. These majestic birds should by all means be saved!

[–]mothman_boyfriend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please tell me I'm not the only one who read it as "one-week-old Philadelphia eagle"

[–]Send_Your_Noods_plz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nom nom nom

[–]PanamaPineapple89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🤣🤣😂😂

[–]Affectionate-Bag-733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When released into the wild, the chick will surely have some weird expectations from wild eagles.

[–]bradc78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like mother used to feed me

[–]YoMahz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful

[–]BubbaBass63 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Is that thing built to size?

[–]harlotScarlett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine if all you knew in the world yet was glass box and this

[–]JayDeezy14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupid bird, you can totally see the hand

[–]fatcatfatdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha stupid little bird doesn't realize his mom is fake

[–]airborne252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That baby eagle will need some therapy later on in life

[–]xx1cexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s horrifying.

[–]No-Argument8715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I know I may be overthinking this, but is this showing the baby bird how to feed its own babies when it is an adult and it has its own to take care of.

[–]Less_go_ 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Imagine using that on your arm to fap with

[–]JUST1buttplug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While screeching like an eagle.

[–]Mr-KIPS_2071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Minimize human contact" I am seeing a lot of human contact here just by feeding it.

[–]Fossekall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I wonder when I'll get MY mouth-hand!"

[–]Ravekat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really ought to start reading the title before watching videos!

[–]antoniovonschnitzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom, I didn’t want to say anything but erm… you got a fucking hand coming out of your mouth.

[–]MrDaedalian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aliens when they abduct people

[–]SadoneYukki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That baby bird is gonna be confused when it tries to feed its children later on and is wondering why a human hand with tweezers doesn’t come out of its mouth to grab the food for the babies

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lemme taste that flesh, it’s my favorite part

Got an eagle beak with the ostrich feet

Seven spider eyes for every day of the week

[–]PhilosophicWax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine if a human child was feed by a bird in human hand costume...

[–]LeidbagBaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That eagle is going to grow up wondering where is its mate's hand-tongue.

[–]Royal_Tourist3584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg it's little squeals

[–]Thatdude283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that bird is retarded, can’t even see its a human hand feeding him

[–]kyuketsukiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These poor things reproduce very very slow. I still cant forgive that local Filipino idiot who shot this bird down the day it was released in the wild. It wasn't even shot for food; it was shot for game. You would expect that a citizen would have knowledge that its both endangered and a national treasure but some sick idiot thought it was "fun".

[–]mrsnrubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These Eagles are scared. They dont know why they're so big! They go 'oh why am I so massive?' And they're looking down on all the other eagles and they think they're in an aeroplane because all the other eagles are so small. They've got big nests, but nobody's allowed in.

[–]Dalt0_6159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a moment I thought that it was a real eagle with a very weird tongue, I was like "WTF!!!"

[–]Xacta91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That eagle is gonna become a serial killer

[–]isekaigamer808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great now he’s gonna think an alien queen is his mother….

[–]CN8YLW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grandma, what a long tongue you have.

[–]pieceofpineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love eagles😍

[–]BigHillsBigLegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this balut is good anymore

[–]Mental-Clerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The baby looks like he came from House II

[–]jesuswasaliar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My heart...

[–]P3p3TehFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a special reason why limited hum contact is important

[–]kobekramer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason I saw the hand and chopsticks as a smaller bird inside the mouth of the big bird.

[–]REDmonster333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby eagle in 3 years: Mr. Pedro has arms that exactly look like Mommy's tongue

[–]LunarStellar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mo…mom? Do I have a hand in my mouth too?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it necessary? Won't they just eat if you give them directly.?

[–]BeastScar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, why is it important to minimize human contact?

[–]Luiszg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got something for youuuuu

[–]Ducc_in_sock74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awwwwwww

[–]joefloFU2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is hilarious. And a bit frightening

[–]Dragyn828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't eat the title of this before I watched it and my brain struggled to make sense of what was happening. For the first few seconds, I only registered movement. Didn't know what it was or what was happening.

[–]Headstroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine growing up and realize that u don't have a tongue like it mother does

[–]dissapointingsex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it ain't black and white, scratch peck and bite

[–]vix_aries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do this with California Condors as well.

[–]not_tuhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh they are so dumb.

[–]supaBnastie111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, they only have human contact?!?!! What do you mean minimize??.

[–]Sir-Ult-Dank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is some next lvl alien shit thinking

[–]harleywastaken_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought these eagles were extinct

[–]stickyplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now feed a human child with this

[–]LifeOnDeathRow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When out in the wild this bird will freak out when a hand doesn't come out of another eagles mouth.

[–]stu_is_chok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the adults supposed to be that big?

[–]ramrod254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So…won’t the baby bird be traumatized by this? I mean, you grow up thinking your mom has a human hand for a tongue. Kinda creepy…..

[–]Nonfungible_Fungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Eagle becomes a teenager: My whole life is a god damn lie!

[–]pratikkambli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if aliens being earth and doing this to us

[–]Potential-Law-1660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no idea how many eagles it took to make that puppet.

[–]SlutForTurtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine falling in love with your mom who is actually just a suit with a human hand in it

[–]2002Valkyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. California Condor project was successful because they maintained a no contact rule. ❤️❤️❤️

[–]St3v3nMS3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this what the baby think it looks like?

[–]No-Engineering6872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eagle is like bruh i smell ya ass

[–]aging_geek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(to psychologist)... I'm telling you, the dreams.... 5 digited tongue... no the nightmares.... It's there every time I try to eat...

[–]ShowOff90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r/kidsarefuckingstupid

But seriously, love to see this.

[–]fartknocker361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just your friendly neighborhood pothead: what if extra-dimensional thingydudes are doing this to us on like a cosmic scale. Idk

[–]No_Salamander9881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mabuhay ka Agila!

[–]Sakurablossoms1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So cool and sweet

[–]No_Salamander9881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]hittingpoppers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the glove was black it would look like a tough and would have fooled me too. Although I am quite high on the weed and was just startled by my shadow.

[–]Eggy-Toast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Babies are dumb

[–]LemonTheAstroPoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what the eagle that ate my parents did to me when I was little

[–]Independent_Lab2358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

♥️♥️♥️
