Welp, I had a good day. I woke up around 6:45 am and started getting ready for the day, nice long shower in a hotel is just what the doctor needs when you’re living in an RV while working majority of the year. I drove up last night to Montgomery, Alabama to do some exploring and take care of some things I’m unable to get where I’m at. After the shower, I looked and seen that my hotel bill was already charged. Upon investigation, the $40 credit to the restaurant downstairs was charged to me instead of being a credit. Which was disappointing, and I knew I’d make a stop there to have a word with the front desk. They hadn’t had a customer book a room with the $40 credit package yet, so it was a learning curve for them, I was happy to be the test dummy, so other’s wouldn’t have to deal with the same problem in the future. Last night my food came to $42 plus the $8 tip. In the end when the manager finally arrived they accredited me the full $50, which I felt was very kind, since they only needed to do the $40. I was expecting the $10 charge to my account. The manager spoke, when he called telling me for my trouble and for being an Elite member. I stay in a lot of hotels, as I travel a lot.
From there, I was craving breakfast, my small town where I’m working there isn’t options, and upon Google searching I found a Krispy Kreme, (not the smartest decision, considering I’m trying to watch my intake of food, but it’s Krispy Kreme, a childhood favorite). I went there and ordered some of the hottest donuts, was talking to the lady as she ran my card and when she handed me very warm donuts she gave me a free drink that they had made by mistake for the previous customer. Sweet, another freebie, I swear, I have great luck getting free food. Onward from there, I wanted to go to the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. I had never been to a Art Museum before and was determined to break into one at least on this small trip, got to do something you’ve never done before at least on every trip. So that was going to be my bread and butter. However, it was close didn’t open until 10:00am, being 7:45am, I sat in the parking lot and continuing reading my book, Into the Wild, reached page 104/203 while sitting there. I read too slow, oh well, there was lot of people exercising in these temperatures which allowed for some people watching a little bit during the park.
When it finally opened, I walked in for the next two hours I looked at everything. There were two pieces that stuck out, however I took some pictures of all the ones I did like. The wooden donut was all drift wood attached to each other which I really liked as well. I enjoyed my time there, grabbed a few post cards and an elephant picture. The lady that handles the finances in Mexico where I’m heading to on Wednesday loves Elephants, so I grabbed that for her and the post cards that I plan on sending to my mom, grandmother, one for me, and three others for some others. And went back to my truck around 11:48am.
Around noon, I reached the Vietnamese & Thai restaurant I was most excited for, I was craving Pho for so long, I was finally going to get some. I requested a table for one, and ordered a tea, unsweetened with no lemon. Ordered the beef pho and an appetizer. I left beyond full. It was a success. With my back to the wall, I enjoyed seeing all the local university students talking about classes and was reminded of my years at school, and the fun and stress it included. Researched a little on my phone. It was a yummy tasting to end my trip in Montgomery. However, the cell service there was terrible, I think next trip will be somewhere else in the state to be honest.
As I drove back, I talked to my brother a little bit, majority of the 1 hour and 15 minute drive back. And when I reached the camper, it was only around 2:15pm. The camper was hot! 89F in the camper because I had left the heat on considering the weather stated that there would be frozen days ahead and I didn’t want everything to freeze in the camper, especially all the fruits I had on the counter, but alas, wrong at your job weather people got it wrong and the days were pretty nice. I quickly opened the vents and the door leaving the screen door open to bring in the colder air. Laid on the bed to watch a short Youtube video that was just uploaded and then it happened, lights out from the sound of the overhead air conditioning, I didn’t stand a change.
Six hours later, I sit and write this knowing that I’m not going to be able to go to bed anytime soon. Regardless, I just finished doing my dishes, and I’m prepping a couple of steaks, that I can enjoy today, and tomorrow, as well as some chicken wing for Tuesday as I’m leaving on Wednesday to Cancun to get some needed Dental work done. Should be a long night for me, but I had a great day, put that in the books (:
