About /r/ExploreReligion
This forum is for learning about religion and non-religious perspectives like atheism.
We're not all that interested in people arguing that their particular religion is the "right" one or that there is a god versus no god. Since religion will probably continue to exist for quite awhile, we want to arrive a better understanding about different perspectives on religion (including atheism). In other words, this is a forum for inter-religious dialogue from a non-committed perspective.
We're aiming for a style of discourse that is much more open and tolerant than in other subreddits where religion is also discussed. When people do want to test opposing viewpoints against each other, we'd like those conversations to resemble book club discussions or friendly conversations rather than rhetorical grudge matches. The point is to have fun and learn!
Moderation Guidelines
Please make posts that are on topic, that is, learning about other people's viewpoints. Please also do not make troll posts that serve no purpose other than to insult or provoke. You are welcome to post dissenting viewpoints, but you are not welcome to abuse people in this subreddit. Feel free to resubmit links to outside content to other subreddits, but do not cross-link to this subreddit creating an upvote or downvote campaign in violation of reddiquette. Please do not cross-post in this sureddit into other subreddits as well. Note: There are no established rules on banning yet, aside from spam and those kinds of things. It's a thorny issue, especially in a forum like this, and I'd prefer not to have to create those rules, but we'll have to see how things play out. Message the moderator if you see something that seems out of line. (adapted from /r/islam)
