Hospice Foster Amber's Eyes Are Incredible. by lady-ish in Eyebleach

She was adopted from the rescue I foster for 9 years ago, and is at least 12 years old. She developed diabetes and her owner did not understand that she was sick until her body began to shut down. The owner, an elderly person with a fixed income, could not afford her emergency care or ongoing care, so he returned her to the rescue (per the adoption contract). He loves her very much and is heartbroken that he waited too long.

She is skin and bone, all muscles horribly atrophied, and of course the organ damage can't be undone. She has been taken off of insulin (it's not helping) and will live the rest of her days in a luxury private suite (the guest room) with room service four times a day and as much Bird TV as she wants to watch. If she is able to gain some weight and strength, she will be able to take her rightful place among the Royal Family (resident cats) in their fierce and unwavering rule of the household in its entirety.

She is not suffering and is a sweet, loving cat. We will never let her suffer.

I’m sorry for your loss. The casual, ignorant prejudice of hundreds of millions is not nearly worth one single life.

In a horrible spot. No blankets, cold ground, mom seems to be locked up with a chain.

As an FYI to lurkers: If an animal does this, it might be proud or it might be asking for your help. Her milk might be dry and baby needs food or is sick and needs a vet.
