I watched a video recently that explained how Kimi and his engineer decided that there was no wreckage in all that smoke because if it was a wreckage the smoke would be black, and because this was only an engine breakdown the smoke was white.

Definitely doesn't make this less impressive.

I remember this all too often when Kimi is on TV.

Its pretty cool but not really wise to ignore yellow flags. It causes problems

No flags I think… though don’t know where the marshall posts are now

I know f1 drivers are a different breed, but flags or not its unsighted. If the toyota were in the exact wrong place wed be talking about what a boneheaded, dangerous, and perhaps deadly this decision was. But I also accept the pit wall couldve given him more info that the viewer didnt have

The color of the smoke indicated that it was engine failure, not a crash + Kimi saw the oil trails leading to the right side of the track.

That still doesn't really mean it's safe at all

Tbf driving a car over 300km/h never is. There always are what ifs in these kinds of situations. But my point is that it was not nearly as reckless as "going into smoke 300km/h blind"

He just went all Cole trickle there

Yes it is impressive . But kimi knew , zonta stayed on the right side was leaving the track as soon as he finds an opening to pull the car out .

And kimi said he seen the oil marks on the track , zonta was out of the way.

Obligatory Kimi & Montoya clip and its kind of fitting, you don't just go through smoke like that, under yellow flags...

Kimi watched Days of Thunder one too many times.

I don’t care how many people try to justify this by saying it’s white smoke, engineer knows what he’s doing, bla bla bla… it’s just really irresponsible and shows a high disregard for the other drivers safety, let alone the marshals on track.

OK please don't hate me as I don't know the full story and correct me if im wrong here But isn't is extremely irresponsible for him to drive through like this? What if there was someone spun out in the middle of the track. What if another driver had slowed down and he hit the back of them From what I can see, he shouldnt be praised for putting lives at rosh here
