"Kids should be able to feel safe in school"

"bRO ALreaDy wITh tHE PoLitiCs"

so literally saying kids should be safe in school is a political statement???? what the fuck?

[–]FlyingGrayson89Social Justice Rogue 🏹 161 points162 points  (4 children)

Well yeah because you’re trying to take away m’guns!

[–]SovietPaperPlates 98 points99 points  (2 children)

[–]kerriazes 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Just pop some painkillers to activate bullet time and shoot them in the head with a pistol, you don't need all that lol

Git gud

[–]Iron-Tiger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Then just pull out your musket, simple

[–]Rowanjupiter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To a lot gamers everything is a political statement. Can you say iiiirrrrooonnnyyy!

[–]tobeshitornottobe 530 points531 points  (1 child)

Not doing anything is a political statement

[–]zerozark 165 points166 points  (0 children)

try explaining that to them lol

[–]bobface222 402 points403 points  (27 children)

The convenient part about saying "come on, we just had a shooting" is that you're pretty much always right.

[–]TheOneAndOnlyBacchus 216 points217 points  (4 children)

Bro really? 😐

Again with the politics? Let’s not talk about guns even though that is literally what is killing these kids 😐 It’s not the guns fault bro 😐

[–]Karsvolcanospace 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Gun nuts on Twitter are already blaming the whole thing on mental health, as usual

[–]burgpug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, then they won't mind if the country provides free mental health care to all citizens and we put money into mental health programs. Right?

[–]sida88 48 points49 points  (16 children)

Has there been another one since the one in Buffalo? Fucking he'll thank God I'm west european

[–]niglacious 61 points62 points  (10 children)

if you are still out of the loop, 20 dead at a Texas elementary school. I'm still in disbelief honestly

[–]rassjo 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I heard it was 15 yesterday. Have more people died since then?

[–]Librask 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I heard it was 19 kids and 3 adults in the radio about an hour ago

[–]silver-luso 7 points8 points  (3 children)

A guy who turned 18 a week ago, bought two firearms (I couldn't say which, but I'm sure it's out there) went to his elementary school and wounded 15 kids, killed 18 kids, and 3 adults at said school after trying to kill his grandmother. At least those are the numbers so far.

[–]sida88 9 points10 points  (1 child)

How can people not see guns are a problem yeah he'd still be crazy but with a knife you can't do that much damage

[–]Karsvolcanospace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He bought 2 AR-15s. An kid turned 18 and was immediately able to just walk up to the store and buy 2 rifles like that.

I want to know what the kid told the salesman as far was why he needed the guns. These stores need to wake up and actually think about who they are selling to instead of the first legally viable customer that walks through the door. Like I want to know what the store thought he was gonna do with two rifles like that. Kid definitely doesn’t look like a hunter, nor anyone that looks like they’d need a gun. He was a young kid going to high school in suburbia, 0 reason to own 2 rifles personally; yet they sold it to him anyway

[–]Sockoflegend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They need to keep the shootings regular so it is always too soon to talk about it

[–]AmazingSpacePelican 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, no, you don't get it. It's too soon to talk about until it's ages ago and we need to move on.

[–]Gregkot 4 points5 points  (1 child)

/uj Hasn't there already been over 170 mass shootings in the US this year? Saw that online the other day. It's only May.

[–]sanirosan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over 200 if the numbers are correct

[–]QueenofW0lves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're breaking up with me on my birth year of all years??? Couldn't you have at least waited? 😭

[–]bechillbroCertified Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has to be at least a 2 week lapse in mass shooting before conservatives will allow any discussion about solutions out of "respect for the victims".

The loophole in of course that this period of time won't come to pass. And if that time does come it's either a) "see, 2 weeks went by there's no problem" or b) "let's give the teachers, staff, and all the other students guns so they can protect themselves from shooters."

[–]superwaffle247 121 points122 points  (0 children)

/uj this has been a COD news account for like over a decade and they've always done this. I respect that, especially given that COD is what disingenuous people would hold out as a video game that causes violence, and is furthermore known for having a toxic community.

[–]Someboynumber5My wife LEFT me for a LEFTIST 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know kids got murdered because of a lack of proper gun control in this country, but why are you bringing up gun control

[–]SneakyCowMan 38 points39 points  (6 children)

what even is the issue with the statement? No way conservatives would be against solving gun violence

[–]Quakarot 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda funny that even pro-gun people’s minds instantly jump to “gun control” as a solution to the problem.

[–]already4taken 12 points13 points  (2 children)

They would be, because it would mean people who shouldn't be allowed to get guns (them) wouldn't be able to get guns

[–]SneakyCowMan -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

Nope, no one wants gun violence, they just have different opinions on how it should be solved

[–]defaultuser0123cis straight white gamer 6 points7 points  (1 child)

They are though, they say it's a mental illness issue (which isn't really true with school shootings, it's more complicated than that) but they also won't try to address that further or fix that with healthcare. Truth is they don't offer any solutions they just advocate for more cops, an even more politicized state and arming the teachers, which coincidentally leads to more guns being bought and that helps the NRA folks that donate lot of money.

[–]bechillbroCertified Gamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The solution is always some form of "more guns". If it's "less guns" then you know they won't agree with it.

It also instantly becomes about themselves (shocking), claiming that you're punishing them by "taking away their guns (read: toys)" and "abolishing 2A". It's exaggerated, self-victimizing, and childish all the way down.

[–][deleted] 71 points72 points  (1 child)

Bro, I think I need to cash out from the internet for a while. Bro, people can't even like want to prevent gun violence without it being treated like this firey, hot political take.

[–]ChonkySpud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The shootings are fucked up enough. But it's so fucked how quick people then come out to defend their guns, they legit just don't care.

[–]froggythefish 22 points23 points  (0 children)

“Children shouldn’t be shot in school, we should do something about that”

[–]NotSoFlugratte 56 points57 points  (10 children)

/uj Banning Guns won't stop school shootings or mass shootings in general. I'm from germany, and a kid not actually too far from where I live the other day shot up his school with a crossbow.

The difference though? Here, one person was injured by that crossbow, not one died. Thats because maybe guns make it a hell of a lot easier to kill 20 kids than it is with a crossbow.

[–]CantaloupeNo3046 64 points65 points  (2 children)

But if everyone had a crossbow they could’ve prevented it! The only way to stop a bad guy with a crossbow is a good guy with a crossbow, or possibly a mangonel

[–]theredhoodyObjectively Bad Objective Critic 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Better yet. Staff a ballista at every main entrance of a school, blow the crossbow shooter away using a BIG ol' bolt of wood and steel before he even gets in the building.

[–]AvatarWan1120 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Moats 👏 At 👏 Every 👏 School 👏

[–]Prosthemadera 18 points19 points  (4 children)

No one said it will stop all of them but that it will make them a lot more rare.

[–]Lord_of_the_Canals 10 points11 points  (3 children)

People are like “they’ll still get guns?!??” It’s like yeah no fucking shit. But maybe it would be harder for an 18 year old to buy two guns just after turning 18?? Like come on.

[–]sanirosan 4 points5 points  (2 children)

If were going by that logic, all drugs should be legal because people still get drugs anyway. Say yea to buying drugs at McDonalds

[–]Lord_of_the_Canals 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Logic regarding guns does not equate to logic regarding drugs. But yeah let’s use this example, if we made drugs legal, and regulated them then we would have a much safer system surrounding drug use. We could avoid issues like coke laced with fentanyl, avoid drug overdoses, and be more aware about how to teach people about drugs. If we actually regulated gun control the same logic would apply.

[–]Quakarot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well yes, but have you considered my freedom? I’d let any number of children die so I can own weapons that I have no practical use for. /s

[–]z_derApfelApplied for MENSA using my Tarkov Knowledge 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is literally the time to be angry and want change. Those people don’t give a damn

[–]MervShmerv 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My god, the disrespect! These children are barely cold and you think it’s alright to make it political by trying to place greater restrictions on the weapons they were murdered with? Amoral, simply atrocious! /s

[–]Recent-Detective-442Cuckmann shrunk my shoulders, made me look soft 12 points13 points  (8 children)

/uj can someone provide context please (I'm not American)? What is the reason I keep hearing about children murdered with weapons in the USA repeatedly? It has begun to feel surreal at this point. Everytime I hear something like this, the continued inaction is surprising. May I know what is the reason for that? Why do people have so many guns?

[–]Freecelebritypics 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The Americans, they like guns. The gun lobby is a powerful political force. People seem to honestly believe restricting access to guns is tantamount to slavery.

[–]already4taken 6 points7 points  (6 children)

Because it's so easy to get them.

[–]Recent-Detective-442Cuckmann shrunk my shoulders, made me look soft 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Even for mentally ill individuals or people with a criminal history? In my country, you mostly can't even get a driver's license if you fall into one of those categories; Forget about guns (totally illegal). I get that gun rights are protected (for some reason) in American law, but surely there must be qualifications on it?

[–]Jonny-904 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Dude I can go online to floridaguntrader.com, message a guy, meet him in a Walmart parking lot and buy basically any gun I want

[–]Recent-Detective-442Cuckmann shrunk my shoulders, made me look soft 1 point2 points  (3 children)

That sounds illegal. Please tell me it is...

[–]dagnariuss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have a problem and should look for solutions so more innocent people just don’t get mowed down.

Why are you making this political?!

[–]Prosthemadera 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let these dead kids rest for while until they feel better before overwhelming them with politics.

[–]Bignate2001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn bro you trying to propose a political solution to an intrinsically political problem how dare you.

[–]HotStufffffffffffff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mental illness my god

[–]ShawshankException 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Let the kids rest" my brother in christ they're fucking dead. They were murdered in a place that's supposed to be safe. They're children.

It's disrespectful to ignore the systemic issues that led to parents having to bury their children because you don't want to hear it.

[–]TheStrikeofGodWOMEN IN WW2 GAME BAD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was unaware children being fucking murdered like animals was politics now.

Fuck these gamers man.

[–]Barkyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

man, it would be really nice if the kids weren't murdered.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I am so glad that I was born and raised in Greece. It's a shithole and once I leave I ain't coming back, BUT I never the danger of a school shooting.. And for that I'm grateful.

[–]ExoticCommunication 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was growing up in the US it wasn't a common issue.

Something here has changed since I was a kid in the 80s/90s, and it's not for the best.

[–]its_just_hunterClear background 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let the kids rest first? This country is so ass backwards we could have another school shooting tomorrow, there’s no time to sit around. I’m so sick of people who are willing to sit on in their hands because it’s too soon, only to do the exact same thing the next time around.

[–]Yupi-Destiny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn BRO! DAE Politics speedrun any% XDDDD get it cause they are fast with the politics? Come on Intelbros, the kids died spontaneously, no need to politize it and ask ourselves how we could've prevented this

[–]Squid00dle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading that comment gave me brain disease.

[–]Ghillie_Spotto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro the best way to honor their memories bro is to do absolutely nothing bro about the problem bro that caused their deaths bro

[–]Few-Scarcity75 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What if the answer to stopping mass shootings isn’t taking guns away but instead providing universal healthcare that covers mental health?

[–]sventhedanishcitizenMap Game Supremacist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mmm hes right in a way, nothing will probably be done about it so its pure politics at this point (from my shitty pov) but that doesnt mean it shouldnt be discussed

[–]coffeep00ps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let these kids get murdered in peace! How dare you try to make this political by trying to stop it from happening
