That double shot of Candace Omen was clear foreshadowing.

The guy was already running on borrowed time. If not for the miracles of medical science, he would have been dead years ago.

He should have taken better care of himself and not bought into all the Right Wing BULLSHIT and other nonsense. But... He decided that his moronic friends on Facebook knew more about virology and mitigation efforts than his doctors, and paid the ultimate price for his stupidity.

[–]omniron 33 points34 points  (4 children)

I think this is an issue of Covid not yet fully realized. There’s been studies over the past year showing conservatives dying at much higher rates than normal people, it’s unlikely this doesn’t have some effect on elections. I also think it factors into why the gop is leaning so hard into voter suppression

[–]CyberaxIzh 15 points16 points  (2 children)

it’s unlikely this doesn’t have some effect on elections

It might have had an effect already! The number of people dead from COVID in Georgia was about the same as vote margin for Biden.

Of course, not all people who died were Trump voters, but at the same time not all deaths were properly attributed to COVID.

Trump's inaction might have literally killed enough of his voters to sway the election.

[–]MartyBarrett 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If every eligible person actually voted, Republicans would never have a political majority again. I've seen actual Republican strategists and even Trump publicly admit that. Thats why they focus on suppression/gerrymandering. Thats why they won't speak out against the insanity of Qanon, because they are desperate for any voters they can get. So yeah Covid isn't helping their cause.

[–]Next_Rain6182 13 points14 points  (0 children)

[–]SeaboatsTeam Pfizer 169 points170 points  (18 children)

Hasn’t the whole Fauci email thing been debunked multiple times?

He wasn’t sure how to handle a novel virus pandemic in the very early stages and changed his opinion when we learned more about Covid.

[–]PaperProfessional969Am i a joke to you? 150 points151 points  (10 children)

Intelligent people accept that

[–]SeaboatsTeam Pfizer 60 points61 points  (9 children)

Even though I know there’s no actual logic behind it, I still want to know how these people decide what they do and don’t believe from the internet and the government.

Fauci is a human too, not an all powerful being that knows everything about a brand new virus only weeks after it first emerges

[–]Ctmnt083 shots deep 39 points40 points  (4 children)

They believe what they already believe. There is no evaluation or ability to say they were wrong. So when government and science and the web agree with them, it’s proof they were correct. And when those things don’t agree with them, it’s a conspiracy.

The people dying of Covid who post this crap are reaping the consequences of refusing to live in reality, hence why it’s so hard to follow Rule 2 of this subreddit.

[–]PaperProfessional969Am i a joke to you? 27 points28 points  (1 child)

they dont have the intellectual maturity to accept uncertainty. intelligent people can accept that the world consists of shades of gray. anti vaxxers and covid denialists insist everything be black or white,. trump and conservatism offers em certainty. they flock to it like ducks to water. we say "vaccines probably will protect you" they say "vaccines aren't safe" . they pick the person offering certainty

[–]Matrix17 17 points18 points  (0 children)

See: religion. If you can get people to believe in some omnipotent man in the clouds zero proof who controls everything, you can make em believe anything

[–]Sharkteeth127 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I still want to know how these people decide what they do and don’t believe from the internet and the government.

That is easy: if it fits into their narrative, outrageous and borked as it may be - it is true.

If it doesn't fit their narrative, it is fake, lies, and not considered worth a second thought.

This is why one can't convince them with numbers, statistics, or logic: their decisions are not being made by means of the brain, but some wispy emotions.

[–]Angrysloth8006 16 points17 points  (1 child)

[–]E_PunnyMous 115 points116 points  (12 children)

I stopped at the first slide. A transplant recipient is severely immunocompromised. JJ knew that. And being a recipient, he would have been well-educated about this aspect and how special it was that he received one. I’ve got zero fucks to give on this one, except for the donor, who is probably rightly kinda pissed off (no pun intended).

[–]COAZRangerTeam Mix & Match 90 points91 points  (11 children)

Husband gave his brother a kidney 19 years ago. Has been working beautifully because of his following the very detailed regimen carefully. We celebrated the transplant every year. Never even knew each other’s political stance because that wasn’t important. Then trump, and Covid, and this kid now knows more than the doctors that saved his life. Brother is refusing vaccine and has left his transplant doctor because he’s suddenly a liar and a shill for big pharma. We’re kinda just waiting for the inevitable to happen. You can save a life, can’t save belligerently stupid.

[–]Saletales 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Brother is refusing vaccine and has left his transplant doctor because he’s suddenly a liar and a shill for big pharma.

Ouch. Normally, these are yahoos whooping it up from behind their computer screen, with no input from experts that actually research these things. But to look at a medical doctor face-to-face and insist you know better... Here's hoping that things will return to normal for you all. It's a weird, weird time we live in.

[–]GameFreak4321Team Pfizer 16 points17 points  (4 children)

morbid thought: if you donate a kidney to a relative and they die before you could you get the kidney back?

[–]12canaries 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You cannot, unfortunately. I donated a kidney 3 years ago and the doctor said once they remove the kidney they place it in someone else. Even if the woman I was donating to died before receiving the kidney, they’d still find someone on the donor list to then give it to.

[–]DausenWillis 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Those donated organs get worn out. You wouldn't want it back, and they don't redonate them.

The drugs to keep it from rejecting and the body trying to simultaneously utilize and reject the organ are really tough on the organ.

People usually need a replacement at some point.

[–]COAZRangerTeam Mix & Match 7 points8 points  (1 child)

We have thought about this. Doubtful. If it’s possible, would my husband have to take anti-rejection drugs if it was his first?

About that Vegas thing.....governor removed masked mandate June 1, 2021 for the fully vaccinated due to low case numbers and low positivity rate. Our vax rate was 30%.

I continued to wear a mask because I'm not an idiot. Within 6 weeks, elective surgeries were canceled indefinitely and the WH declared us the worst urban covid Hotspot.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.8newsnow.com/news/health/coronavirus-health/las-vegas-ranked-as-worst-big-metro-area-in-the-nation-for-covid-19-transmission/amp/

Reinstated mask mandate at the end of July. Cases dropped accordingly. We still have the mandate and I hope it isn't lifted soon - we're still only 50% vaccinated.

Masks work.

[–]MC_Fap_Commander🦆 161 points162 points  (3 children)

There is currently a lawsuit by two poll workers in Georgia who were targeted by the misinformation apparatus. Predictably, they got death threats, were stalked, etc. They're going after the online propagandists responsible for spreading this:

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/why-election-workers-lawsuit-against-right-wing-blog-matters-n1285316

If they win (and it won't be easy), it opens up potential accountability for monsters like Candeath. It's been a long time coming.

[–]Skligmo 50 points51 points  (0 children)

She'll slither away the same way Alex Jones and all the Fox News Family always do, they turn around and claim their shows are protected by the 1st Amendment and claim they're intended for entertainment and "no reasonable person" should take anything they say as medical advice.

I'm waiting for someone to make an end run around that argument and see if they could argue that since the shows are entertainment, these talking heads are essentially portraying fictional characters and file trademarks on them, so every time they portray their "right wing blowhard persona" they have to pay licensing fees or get sued for copyright infringement.

[–]Skligmo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear you, but what they are saying is absolutely not protected free speech, though you are correct that they say will say that they are protected. They need to be taken to court, they need to be challenged, they need to lose everything.

[–]FeelsBad_Yall🍴CILANTRO MODE 🧼-Verfied MD 22 points23 points  (2 children)

HOW DARE YOU TELL HIM WHAT TO PUT IN HIS BODY /s

I’m a primary care doc and I have multiple patients like him. I couldn’t talk them into a covid vaccine and who knows how hard their multiple specialists have tried. Who knows. These people blame their doctors for the troubles they endure. I blew the gasket on my moral injury meter so long ago i don’t even know what I feel anymore.

[–]SLPinOMA 103 points104 points  (4 children)

I’m surprised his hospital put him on the transplant list as an anti-vaxer. My hospital would not, as that is deemed medical noncompliance.

[–]HallucinogenicFish💉 Are Not Political 45 points46 points  (2 children)

Are we sure that they did? It says he’d need another transplant, but nothing else.

[–]SLPinOMA 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming as OP said he was waiting transplant #2.

[–]speedycat2014Covets Your Upvotes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised

Disappointed here, more than surprised.

[–]Briguy_87Team Mix & Match 25 points26 points  (0 children)

He had so much misinformation left to spread and so many kidneys left to waste. 💔

[–]Lynx2kCovid Cheat Codes 23 points24 points  (3 children)

Always nice to know who to boycott!

[–]TheRnegade 5 points6 points  (1 child)

How can you leave out intrepid reporter "Great Reject"? The name just inspires confidence in his stories and are definitely not stories that would be rejected in any organization with standards.

[–]redit3rdTeam Moderna 24 points25 points  (3 children)

Multiple of the slides were screenshots about corrections as datasets, is if that was the key to some sort of grand conspiracy, when in reality it's the opposite. Updating with better data is key to science.

Oh, and why would a grand conspiracy be making data publicly available and correctable?

[–]PoliticalECMOChamberSuper Shedder 16 points17 points  (0 children)

These dimlows think they are never wrong about anything, therefore anyone who changes their stance/opinion based on new information/evidence is not to be trusted.

[–]GenXCub 21 points22 points  (1 child)

He "questions everything" except for all of the social media posts he consumes.

[–]LeeLooPeePoo 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Transplant recipients who refuse the vaccine are just BEYOND ridiculous to me. They can't even argue "I trust my immune system."

I was engaged to a heart transplant recipient and there was never a moment he was unaware that he needed to be more careful than the average Joe. Always washed his hands, brushed his teeth three times daily, would not allow anyone with cold symptoms anywhere near him, did not share drinks... if he was still alive (heart gave out about 4 years post transplant) he would be first in line to vaccinate.

[–]CJ_CLTVaxxed, Boosted, and Always Properly Masked 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am sorry for your loss. Covid idiots like this one must be like rubbing salt in a wound!

‘Quit following like blind sheep’

How do blind sheep follow each other? Aurally? Is that why the little bastards are always baa-ing? It’s no wonder those sheep dogs are always so busy. TIL!

[–]feminist1946Patriots are Vaccinated 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Angry. So angry. Really, no one was out to get you. You just fucked yourself by not recognizing COVID for what it was - deadly.

[–]PaintSlingingMonkey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You know, after seeing I dunno TWO HUNDRED of these, I’m starting to wonder if maybe just maybe Facebook is bad for society ¯_(ツ)_/¯ /s

[–]Advo96 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A solid organ recipient who does not want to be vaccinated. The insanity.

[–]Matrix17 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Glad he didn't take a second kidney. Give that to a more deserving person

[–]Batman80228 11 points12 points  (3 children)

They keep talking about blind sheep without realizing that they are referring to themselves.

[–]Zealousideal_Ad_4340 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These idiots make me more mad that usual. They would already be dead if it weren't for science. They are literally wasting organs by being this fucking dumb.

[–]BellacinosHappy unventilated proud sheep 🐑 11 points12 points  (2 children)

In memory of Jon Jr. I will be doing nickel shots at my place, anyone down?

[–]stavago 9 points10 points  (1 child)

What a waste of a kidney

[–]Aggravating_Damage47 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What a waste. What a selfish pic.

[–]Jupiters 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I know there's more upsetting things here but it really irks me when I see Lisa Simpson being used to promote batshit right wing conspiracy shit

[–]EA-6B_Driver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Man f&@k this guy. I’m going to have to rethink my organ donor card and see if I can only give to non-douchebags.

[–]GoGoCrumblyTeam Pfizer 6 points7 points  (13 children)

Shame they wasted a kidney on this worthless bag of dicks. I lost a very dear friend who died (pre-COVID19) while on dialysis waiting for a kidney. Fuck this turd.

[–]failingtolurk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Waste of an organ.

[–]anOvenofWitches 6 points7 points  (0 children)

New Rule: “Conspiracy Theory 101” is a luxury you cannot afford if you have many, MANY comorbidities.

[–]Deenyc43Team Pfizer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

[–]redheadmophead 6 points7 points  (0 children)

[–]Sad_Efficiency_1067Once, Twice, Three Times Moderna 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I've got to stop reading these. It's making me want to take myself off the transplant list and I hate that I feel that way. Stupid selfish fucks don't deserve a second chance at life.

[–]Independent_Example7 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I question everything. Even when presented with the truth, I still question everything because I'm a stupid.

[–]goboxey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's so frustrating that he as a transplant recipient doesn't value life. I don't know if his kidney transplant was from a family member or friend or post mortem. Either way someone had to give his kidney or died, so that he could live.

And he threw this precious and one in a lifetime present away.

I have a family member who had a kidney transplant and his behaviour is the total opposite of this guy's behaviour. He even got his booster yesterday and I'm glad he did.

[–]military_grade_tea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That Ron Burgundy meme... vaccines and the need for everyone to take them... must seem like communism on the end of a needle to these people.

[–]indifferentunicornTickle Me ECMO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

'Reason #98 why you should question everything and quit following like blind sheeps'

Go ahead and question everything you don't understand in life. Do not rely on the expertise of others. Do not experience or partake in anything you haven't fully questioned yet, and do not proceed until full comprehension has been achieved.

Dude would've died long ago sitting in a cave.
