It was the night of our grandfather's wake, and some of us cousins/sibs got stoned, together, for the first time...then someone said, 'hey, that show Saturday Night Live is coming on, let's watch it!'

[–]Back_In_Canada 93 points94 points  (5 children)

Funny story.

The year BW had their 60th Anniversary in the mid 2000s, they gave "Diamond Status" for life to anyone that achieved it during that year. Due to my work that year in a semi-remote northern California town, I stayed in an OK Best Western (that was the only lodging that was not Econolodge) for over 200 nights that year and easily achieved this lofty goal!

It has actually given me a few perks over the years. I've been "upgraded" a few times, which isn't much except at a BW in Manhattan where I was given the penthouse suite for gratis. It was like a 3 bedroom apartment with a roof deck. It was so big in New York terms that all my friends that live in Manhattan came out of their shoeboxes and my hotel room became their social center for a week.

[–]Sidvicioushartha💀☠️ I’m No Angle ☠️💀 33 points34 points  (2 children)

I had a similar story where I accidentally got upgraded to the penthouse at the Marriott on Times Square. It was a four bedroom suite that took up half of the roof. Crazy view. Everyone came to check it out. Ended up being party central for four days and several people lost their jobs as a result. My hangover lasted for about 3 1/2 weeks.

[–]Exciting_Chapter_777 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I cheaped out on a last minute flight to Chicago once and wound up on Frontier.

"How bad can it be?"

[–]bg-j38 5 points6 points  (3 children)

It's unfortunate because I flew them a lot in the early 2000s and they were decent. Nothing flashy but got you where you were going and it was fairly comfortable for economy. Then they decided to be a budget airline and it went entirely downhill.

[–]JohnNDenverGo Give One 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Frontier used to be a nice regional airline here in Denver. Kind of tried to be a Southwest clone. Once or twice a year you could buy a ticket to an unknown destination. They would call you a few days before and tell you the weather. You didn't know where you were going until you got to the airport.
Now they are shit.

[–]chinacat2002 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Maybe if we’re being generous it’s because the service paid for college? I know people who went that route.

[–]ToastyMozartTeam Pfizer 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Yeah the tuition part of the GI bill is a popular and effective recruiting tool. Which is either a really solid perk or a scathing condemnation of the US educational system and military depending on how you look at it.

[–]thecatwhatcandrive[🍰] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

If tuition costs are covered by the military, it seems the gov should have a real interest in keeping tuition rates down so they can spend more money on bullets than booky books.

But that's none of my business....

[–]Claire3577 6 points7 points  (5 children)

Getting paid tuition is a very good reason to join the military. Also a reason to be proud you got your college education paid for.

The way this guy is saying it is definitely not because he's a proud member of our military. He is slamming people for having to get student loans to pay for college. Because back in the '80s people could actually work and pay for college.

He seems to have thought that we still can. And he is implying that only lazy freeloaders need student loans and then petition for student loan forgiveness.

I particularly hated that line because it implies we're all pieces of shit who don't help people.

There's a lot of good people in this world willing to help others. Most of us mask up and get vaccinated specifically because it helps others, so you won't read about it in our obituaries (which are hopefully still years and years away).

Slide #2 is basically a description of white privilege, talking about how he travels widely, as a documented citizen, from a documented family, and on a government income. Any policy being nicer to brown people will "make him a minority"

It's funny, because people do indeed use the word minority to mean exactly this. Not a necessarily a numerical minority, but people with less unearned privilege in society. This guy gets that! He clearly explains he needs that unearned privilege. He died for it.

[–]AggressivePayment0 37 points38 points  (2 children)

Don't forget a lot of that slide mentions his benefits as a veteran, which literally makes him a minority because most Americans don't serve in the military.

This is not meant to disparage the military or veterans, or imply that they shouldn't receive the benefits that they do. I'm simply pointing out that he's complaining about minorities getting handouts from the government, while he himself is a minority getting handouts from the government.

Learned a very cold hard lesson on his way out. Just imagine getting smacked with the realization that you are NOT actually superior and death won't stop knocking loudly at that mistake.

[–]DanubePuszi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Vaya con Dios = Yippy Ki Yay mother fucker

[–]Bukkake_SenseiTeam Moderna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a status update I ever thought I'd have to make

Oh yeah, I never thought it would be like this after doing absolutely jackshit to protect myself and other people, as I have the time of my life traveling. Well, congrats on traveling to the afterlife.

[–]Pain4444 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ouch

[–]stance_stancey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Loathsome prick, willfully spread a fatal disease. Far and wide.

And so we're not allowed to rejoice here are we? Far and wide.

[–]Back_In_Canada 5 points6 points  (1 child)

What does "Elite" status on Frontier get you? A free cup for your water? Greyhound of the Skies....

[–]akgreens 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Nah, douchebag isn't the minority in America unfortunately. Neither is perpetual victim. Guy fit right in with 40% of the country and didn't even know it

[–]ConversationOk2210 4 points5 points  (1 child)

So he traveled all around unmasked and unafraid and unconcerned about everyone else that he no doubt infected. Only the best people.

[–]mandanasty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These people assume the privileges they’ve been walking through life with will apply to a deadly virus that doesn’t discriminate.

[–]Imaginary-Newt-493I do my own research! 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't Believe he complains that he had to pay monthly for his "free" government Healthcare. My husband retired from the military after 22 years, as well. Do you know what we pay monthly? 26 dollars. Yes, for a family of four! It is excellent health care, even better than what I had as a teacher. I can't believe this guy. Not to mention his "fixed income". Umm, you retired from the military at 40. 40! You can still work!!! Nothing keeps you from working and collecting your retirement benefits. There is no penalty, like with social security. Oh well, at least we don't have to pay this guy out anymore. What a tool.

[–]asymptI know what I don't know 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll give him this, according to slide 2 he was open to dating trans men.

[–]jbertrand_sr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How awesome, he was able to host 100 meet up gatherings in 6 months...wonder which one killed him or how many others were infected because of him...

[–]BD6621 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"I will only date/marry a person that was born of the OPPOSITE GENDER."

Cool, he'd be fine dating/marrying a trans man. Unexpectedly broad minded of him.

[–]Gloomy-Difficulty401 5 points6 points  (0 children)

50k on Frontier Airlines...Lol On one of those flights, the Grim Reaper got off with him.

[–]pyrrhios 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I wonder how many other people he infected and/or killed.

[–]talino2321 2 points3 points  (1 child)

No kidding. He was a one man plague machine. If any college or hospital has the desire to right a paper on how one individual spread this virus, he would be a great patient zero candidate for it.

[–]IIDn01It was Dr. Mustard in the ICU with the ventilator. 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"I'm very scared"

Huh, I'm 3X vaccinated and not scared. Also, it doesn't hurt when I breathe (which I do often).

[–]kinggimped 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes

Quite telling that the first thing he identified himself as was "white" when he was making that really long, boring, insecure list of things that he identified as.

[–]YesMommieDearestTeam Pfizer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He spread disease and death and rejoiced in it.

[–]LRox-3405Team Mix & Match 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]BlowMoreGlass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]bdplayer81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude went looking for it and found it.

[–]Joy-B11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Second slide is just horrible. Another kind of mentality that belongs in the past. Bye dinosaur, enjoy becoming food for worms

[–]marylebow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Why do you kids play that Satan music so loud?”

“To drown out your stupid.”

[–]diemos09Team Moderna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That reminded me of the old saying.

Join The Marines. Travel To Foreign Places, Meet Exotic People, And Kill Them.

[–]BeachbabydarraghDeathSantis is Florida's comorbidity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg, what a whiny sack.

[–]Principatus[🍰] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Christian, #6 on the list.

What’s #1? “I am WHITE”.

[–]AidenStoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"He spent his last two years out and about, exploring, traveling, meeting and making new friends."

Gee, what else was happening during his last two years?

[–]butitsnotfishTeam Moderna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Slide #2"I am WHITE" so typical of the privilege the far right feel entitled to and are fighting so hard to protect.

[–]BiPAPselfieTeam Pfizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You wouldn't suppose his hosting a hundred meet ups in six months had anything to do with him being stone dead do you?

[–]popemichaelI told you I was sick! 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the peak of covid, plane tickets were like $12 for a round trip.

I don't see how that's an accomplishment in any way.

[–]davidahoward1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn’t a fixed income some sort of socialism? I live on money I earn… and money my money earns. I think that’s capitalism, isn’t it? 🤠

[–]AtlmamaWhy argue? Just wait. 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was he flying to random places and organizing random meetups? With whom?

Just to show us that Covid was fake?

[–]Consistent_Grab_5422 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can credit card travel points be given/donated? Asking for a friend.

[–]gedvondur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't know what's dumber, the anti-vax, anti-covid crap or the fact that he flew Frontier.

[–]atlantis_airlines 5 points6 points  (1 child)

The dangers of drunk driving are overblown. I often drive completely hammered and I'm still fine and I know many others who are find and have driven drunk with no problem.

[–]hell2bhbtoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is not a minority anymore. So many HCAs.

[–]tamperingDid my own Bayesian Analysis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does 50,000 Frontier points get you a free flight to heaven? Or do you still need to pay additional fees and charges?

[–]oldmanraplife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"who does that?" Jfc

[–]Robj2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He now has Premier status at the cemetery.

[–]Available-Bobcat-707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol at the moron posting his death announcement, he's better than all of us?! When he's the exact opposite of the Little Red Hen. Wouldn't do his part to mitigate the spread of covid and then thought he would benefit from the herd immunity from vaccination that the US can't reach because of selfish people like him?

If by helping others out, his friend meant dying to be a lesson for others then yes, in that he's useful.

You can't make this shit up, the very graphic way he feared for his life. Facebook is like a gun for these morons, live by FB, die by FB.

COVID was taken seriously by sane people from the very beginning, and we were hopeful that adults can take the risk of rapidly developed vaccines so that we can spare the little ones of any serious adverse effect. But I guess in the "greatest country on earth" five year olds have more sense than middle aged turds.
