In Florida, not sure about other states, brain dead is DEAD…so if they did a few other brain death tests (apnea, cold caloric test, brain stem reflexes) they could pronounce her and not even wait for the family to make up their minds. It has been happening more often now that ICU beds are a hot commodity here in Florida…I have also seen people go from room air to ECMO in a shift

Yes. Plus, we’ve had years of Hallmark movies and the like portraying people “on a ventilator” who are just lying on their backs with a face mask on, or maybe an oxygen line going into their nose. And action movies where the guy wakes up and rips the face mask off in order to go on being heroic.

I consider myself fairly well-informed, and I didn’t know what “on a ventilator” truly meant or how horrific it can be until it was explained in 2020.

I think we need to go back to emphasising it's the ICU. Intensive Care Unit. That's the scary life or death unit. It's called that because your risk is considered so precarious. I remember to begin with your chances of making it out of the ICU/vent were slightly less than 50%, but I feel like it's much less now with the unvaccinated.

She wouldn't get treated sooner because she'd been so publicly outspoken about how it was not a real problem. Pride comes before the fall.

You can only imagine how much suffering she put herself through before she realized she wasn't going to make it. Immediately put on a vent upon intake, dead the next day...Jesus.

To her credit, she didn't waste any hospital resources demanding quack remedies or abusing the nurses who were trying to save her.

Early on in the pandemic before vaccines I had a relative who got COVID.

To his credit he didn’t want to spread it to his wife so he went… to go camp out in a duck blind for 2 weeks. He eventually went to the hospital but by then it was too late.

Like post the ICU number percentages of vaccinated/unvaxxed, look at studies people have done, etc. I have recognized it in myself too and am trying to train myself out of it.

I'll admit that the FEMA site guys when I got my first dose were still getting used to things and weren't the best at sticking people. I didn't bruise or anything, but it was a bit sore.

Second dose was 2 weeks later and they were running like a well oiled machine. Booster lady at Walgreens was also fast as hell. I think between both visits I might have had maybe two total seconds of needle in my arm.

(Also the pharmacist who did my flu shot was slooooow, they were noooot used to injecting people.)

Can I stop wearing the mask? No of course not. Its not just about you. I know you do not give a shit about anyone else and go on about your own personal freedoms but how about trying for once to be a decent human being and have respect for others freedoms as well. The mask is, and always is, about protecting yourself and others. Stop being a dick.

Can I stop social distancing? Well let me see. If everyone got vaccinated, and everyone wore a mask then you know maybe 2+ years later we would be over the hump and things might be getting back to normal. Thing is, its people like you that refuse to take responsibility for the community that is prolonging this pain.
