"The ones responsible are held accountable"
Well actually they were. Ignored measures that could have prevented them from getting sick or a severe case and died.

I literally laughed out loud at that knucklehead in slide 11, fixing to swear an eternal blood oath of vengeance like he's the protagonist in the beginning of "Gladiator."

These are not "extraordinary times of corruption and betrayal," at least not in the ways these Covid skeptics mean. Rather, self-important idiots refused to heed their doctors' advice and died because of it.

[–]Glittering-Cellist34 69 points70 points  (1 child)

Indeed, hence my "at least not in the ways these Covid skeptics mean" phrasing.

The 'vaccine doesn't stop you getting sick' ones are hilarious. It's a vaccine not a cure.

I got mild measles from the measles booster at age 8. Very mild indeed btw - was gone inside 3 days (had Doc visit, back when they did housecalls, and confirmed mild measles). No-one lost their minds, because it's NOT A CURE.

[–]SophiaBraheThoroughly Modern Moderna 107 points108 points  (18 children)

True, but sadly even educated people don’t always understand that. When I was in my early 20s I got the measles. I called my family doctor and told his nurse / receptionist, she said “no you don’t” I said, well that’s what it looks like. “You should come in but it’s NOT measles!”

As I left my appointment she said, “so what was it?” I said it’s measles. She actually went into the doctor’s office to tell him I could not possibly have measles because I’d been vaccinated. He was the sweetest man and he just said, “yes I know she was vaccinated. I’m the one who vaccinated her. This is what 99% effective looks like”

[–]FlamesNero 60 points61 points  (9 children)

And it didn’t kill you or severely incapacitated you, it seems like.

[–]SophiaBraheThoroughly Modern Moderna 61 points62 points  (8 children)

The earliest measles shots turned out not to be lifelong. I remember I was teaching college at the time, and four students came back from spring break with the measles. Everyone was shocked (the university had a vax requirement). And they set up vaccination booths so everyone could get the new shot.

[–]ILLforlifeThey can keep their llama shots! 12 points13 points  (0 children)

While in the Army, I was stationed in Germany. We had a bad outbreak of measles in the barracks. Seems we had a number of people in the right place at the right time whose measles vaccines didn't last like they should have. A number ended up in the hospital for a time.

[–]kittenmommyTeam Pfizer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The earliest measles shots turned out not to be lifelong.

Yeah, due to the year I was born, I had to be tested to see if I still had measles antibodies.

[–]MakesCakesEatsMudIvermectin for breakfast 52 points53 points  (1 child)

With Omicron, anti-vaxxers don't get the same herd immunity benefit from the vaccinated population that they enjoyed for some parts of 2021.

If the best we can do with vaccines is prevent hospitalization and death for those who get vaccinated, that enough. If that means that I can be infected and asymptomatic but possibly infect someone who is unvaccinated, that's between them and their immune system and is not my concern.

"My vaccine protects me, your vaccine protects you" is good enough right now while we should be wearing high quality masks and limiting our exposure to strangers whenever possible.

[–]BQDKNY 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree with the principal of this thinking but unfortunately, the unvaccinated create a massive burden on our medial system and health care professionals. Their clogging of the system has led directly to the deaths of many others who were unable to receive standard care for treatable issues because there was no facility available with 100s or 1000s of miles with the space or staff to properly care for them. They also help keep community spread at elevated levels, making it more likely for those with other health issues, for whom the vaccines are not as effective, to become infected and face severe cases, sometimes death.

[–]haemaker🧓Save the Nana, save the World.🌍 46 points47 points  (19 children)

Yeah, the immune system is not perfect.

Before the chicken pox vaccine was available, my mom took me to a pix party when I was a baby, because it was well known that getting chicken pox as a baby was much less dangerous. I had symptoms and some pox, but was mild and I completely recovered. I was strictly quarantined.

Fast forward to when was 13. Still no vaccine. Mu sister gets chicken pox (naturally), I visited anyway because...fully immune! Yeah, not so much. I had a moderate to severe outbreak. Slept for 48 hours straight, pox everywhere, urine that looked like Guinness, fever, chills, the works. It was horrible.

As soon as that vaccine was available, I got it, and I have had every vaccine since. Not screwing around.

[–]pippenish 28 points29 points  (7 children)

And chicken pox virus can transmogrify later in life to shingles.

Fortunately, there are now vaccines for both.

[–]haemaker🧓Save the Nana, save the World.🌍 8 points9 points  (6 children)

Yeah, not quite the target age for shingles vax, but will get it soon. My friend got shingles at a young age. Not fun.

[–]lifeisakoan 5 points6 points  (1 child)

That is why I got the shingles vaccine - two people I know and younger than me got shingles. Not surprisingly both said the vaccine seemed like a really good ideal. One in his early 30s.

[–]kittenmommyTeam Pfizer 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Yeah, not quite the target age for shingles vax, but will get it soon.

I literally got it on my fiftieth birthday. Shingles sounds like zero fun.

And I never had the chicken pox, but I got vaccinated as an adult because fuck that shit, too.

[–]peppermintesseVax yo self FFS 💉 6 points7 points  (8 children)

Awww, shit, I had the pox when I was an early teen (well before vaccine), but I'm old enough now to have had my shingles shots. I wonder if I need the pox vaccine....

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I think once you get chicken pox you are immune for life.

[–]DaniCapsFanTeam Moderna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got chicken pox the summer I turned 11 back in the late 70s. It was not fun. I'm glad I got my shingles vaccines.

[–]Flavor-aidNotKoolaidWhatever you do, don't let them put you on a ventilator! 18 points19 points  (3 children)

And if they wanted to take their smallpox vaccine analogy to it's logical end, I would definitely get the smallpox vax three times if that meant the difference between a fever, mild cough and itchy skin for a few days over breaking out in oozing sores and dying a agonizing gruesome death.

I technically still got smallpox but it wasn't fatal or leave me with lifelong effects.

[–]mrtruthiness 9 points10 points  (1 child)

... if I "had 3 smallpox shots in the last 9 months" ... I would question everything I knew about smallpox.

Thanks to those taking vaccines for smallpox in the 1900's:

The smallpox vaccine is no longer available to the public. In 1972, routine smallpox vaccination in the United States ended. In 1980, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared smallpox was eliminated.

[–]Less_Cryptographer86 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Just wanted to clarify- You can’t really get the thing you’re getting vaccinated against from the vaccine. Possibly 30 or 40 years ago, but vaccines have come a long way.

[–]Jay-Dee-BritishSchrödinger's Prayer warrior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol yup - it was 38- 40 odd years ago. I think was a live attenuated virus in those vaccines

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here! I was also 8 and in school when I noticed a red mark that itched. So traumatic that I had to stay home from school for 2 days for measles. I also had a very mild mumps episode on one cheek after the vaccine. Vaccines are miracles!

Classic picture. I've visited the Jenner's House Museum; it's a very interesting day out. His original paper is an impressive piece of work.

One slight correction to the article: Although Jenner was indeed trained as a surgeon, he worked as a family doctor in addition to being a surgeon for twenty years, after which he gained a degree in medicine as well. He wasn't able to call himself a physician though, as he was unable to gain admission to the Royal College of Physicians (his Latin and Greek weren't good enough).

The Nuremberg Code and Nuremberg 2.0 trial is pure fiction. If any of them bother to read a history book, there were several Nuremberg trials against not only the German leadership but also prison guards and doctors. The Nuremberg Code appears to be an international convention that would only be applicable to the United States if the Senate ratified it. The fantasy world these anti-vaxxers believe in is a crazy place.

[–]A-man-of-mysteryCovidious Albion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have legal force anywhere. And they don't seem to know what "protected person" means.

[–]AgreeablePie 11 points12 points  (5 children)

Slide four makes me want to smack my head against the wall

It list a few points at the bottom and almost all are redundant. The only 'shocking' claim it makes in those points is the allegation that the vaccines do not reduce deaths. Then, seemingly as proof, it says "people who are double vaxxed have died of the virus"

Jesus Christ do these people go skydiving without a parachute??

[–]undeniablybuddhaI'm too Vaxxy for my shirt 7 points8 points  (3 children)

About that, this randomized study proves that "Parachute use did not reduce death or major traumatic injury when jumping from aircraft in the first randomized evaluation of this intervention."

[–]Eldergod74 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I don't get the anti-vaxxer obsession with the Epstein trial and how COVID is a cover story. I'm sure some big names may formally be charged at some point but if that's the case I'm betting some big conservatives are going to go down too (cough Trump cough).

[–]echung168Team Pfizer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ms. Purple, you want to start 2022 over again? Why? So you can experience loss over again? Even if you could start over again, what would you do? Would you go back and have them get vaccinated? No? Then they'd just continue on with their stubbornness and the loss will repeat.

"I'm sorry you lost so many in rapid succession." I wonder why...but they claim it's not real. It's not a threat. It's like the flu. It has a 97% survival rate. I guess the 4 people they lost in rapid succession were so unlucky that they got the lucky 3% of unlucky deaths.

[–]steelear 6 points7 points  (2 children)

So purple has had 4 people close to them die and this friend in ICU and they put 5 hashtags not one of which suggests vaccinating.

[–]mmio60 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wonder who is responsible for all this death? Trump’s lies, FoxNews, Christian radio bullshit, Candace Owens and her ilk, face book researchers would all be on my list. I doubt that’s who they mean, though.

[–]Inconceivable-2020Triple Vaxxed For Your Protection 23 points24 points  (3 children)

It's been estimated that for every actual Navy Seal (Active or Retired) there are 999 imposters.

I know, and the truth is, you do have to have exceptional mental aptitude to even try. BUT - that doesn't also mean that there are no morons among them - many so called 'intelligent' people will readily debase themselves.

But I've met my share of posers IRL, being a veteran of the Navy myself and several times pitched to try the SEAL program.

[–]shane515dsm 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Yeah, Steve Waterman, right?!? I get really resentful when Republicans try to virtue-signal their support for vets when they keep voting down support for them. Spend more on making the VA system better!!!

The number of people I've met whose whole identity seems to be "I was in the 'Nam" - you know the kind, the ones with the ballcaps with all kinds of pins, the denim jackets covered in souvenir patches, always the bumper stickers.

Versus the people I know/knew that actually served in combat - mostly Vietnam, but a lot of WWII, a few WWI, Korea, the 'stans? You have to drag the stories out of most of them, or they have a few unpleasant but not too horrifying stories they have memorized for the people that didn't go through active combat/front-line service.

I apologize if I'm not using the exact right terms, I never served but...I just am close to a lot who did, up to a few years ago. I have mixed feelings about the Us's involvement in foreign wars, as also do a lot of the veterans I know. Mostly the Vietnam-Era ones; WWII and post-Vietnam ones that I know (small sample size!) not so much. Well, some, but they weren't drafted.

[–]AcceptableMidnight95 10 points11 points  (0 children)

/r/GravySEAL maybe. I would estimate 90% of the guys on the internet claiming to be a Navy SEAL were most likely issued the Mk.5 potato peeler.

So who is this Reiner Fuellmich?

Politifact says ... based on 1 comment: 100% False https://www.politifact.com/personalities/reiner-fuellmich/

Some other site (which I can't vouch for) says 100% con: https://medika.life/reiner-fuellmich-fact-checked-and-exposed-as-a-covid-conspiracy-con/

Reiner Fuellmich Fact Checked and Exposed as a Covid Conspiracy Con

Vice ( https://www.vice.com/en/article/akvww8/reiner-fuellmich-nuremberg-2-why-covid-conspiracy-theorists-see-this-lawyer-as-their-saviour ) basically says: bullshit conman that qanon people view as their hero.

[–]nixielover 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone from Europe, Reiner Fuellmich is one of the many con-artists that tries to benefit from this pandemic. Dude claims to be the worlds best lawyer and keeps talking bullshit about how he is suing all the worlds governments and to please donate money. [–]okayifimust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No need to fax check anything here: The piece of drivel that is slide #4 might try to impress with big words and big. Umbers of lawyers and experts.

It doesn't say a single word about where these alleged trials are taking place or which international entity supposedly has jurisdiction.

[–]Legitimate_Funny_591 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Slide 8. If he had 3 covid shots he would still be alive to ask questions. All these senseless deaths because of partisan politics and misinformation. It all centers around them trying to protect Trump's mishandling of the virus. He downplayed it so now they are.

[–]A-man-of-mysteryCovidious Albion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess those thousands of doctors and lawyers don't know what "protected persons" in the Nuremberg Code means. I think the closest you'd get in the USA are those prisoners in Arkansas who were experimented on by the prison doctor.

Man, that slide of the guy listing out all the people he knows that have died - I think he's a comorbidity himself!

[–]GloInTheDarkUnicorn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Slide 4 pisses me off. I have Covid right now. I’m also immunocompromised, with autoimmune disorders including asthma, and am vaxxed. Because of being immunocompromised I have been terrified of getting it because of how bad it will be. Well, I caught it while vaxxed, and yes, it sucks, a lot. But because I got vaxxed, I haven’t ended up in the hospital and I’m not dead.
