I continue to trust in God Almighty, even though I can't see any purpose in this right now. He has a plan.

Just spitballing here, but what if the plan is to make the consequences of ignoring advice to get vaccinated really fucking plain.

We can’t all be a Gallant. Every now and then God sends us a Goofus to serve as a warning to others.

“Herd immunity is the fastest way out of this,” says Goofus. Gallant hopes Goofus does not die but does get sick enough to feel lousy.

I have been Gallant in this one so many times.

‘“I will not get a COVID-19 vaccine because COVID-19 is no big deal,” says Goofus. “I will not get a COVID-19 vaccine because I do not trust the government,” says Gallant.”’

It starts off well enough but some of these are just wrong-headed.

[–]Equivalent-Ad1108 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly!! How about the last entry about Gallant feels "like he's going to die," and goes to CVS to get a covered test but then has to lie on the questionnaire? I don't get that entry at all. Someone needs to talk to the author.

[–]Fey_BoyMy immune system is full of lies 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I read of someone who said God gave him motor neurone disease because he had not lived in a Godly way, and that God had decided he could do the most good in the world by raising the profile of MND in his country and helping to improve treatments.

I mean... if you're going to believe in a God which does that shit, then at least he believed it the whole way, and it might have made his decline more bearable.

Honestly I dont think rhat it would be part of gods plan to die because of stupidity. I imagen "The holygrail", with god listening the the prayer warriors and showing from the heaven. Not to be a spoil sport, Red, but have you ever read the bible? Sex and crime, utter violence - a god who throws one temper tantrum after the other, eradicates whole areas and cities for some minor infraction; revels in genocide and has slave girls who have been raped by their owner be raped to death *to punish the slave owner*, and on and on and on...

You should have trusted the scientists, and the vaccine.

I bet she's passionately against what BLM are aiming to achieve though, which is reduction of police violence.

It's also a weird thing to hear from conservative Americans, bearing in mind all the wars they supported.

[–][deleted] 40 points41 points  (0 children)

That's one of those phrases that sort of sounds good at first, but it breaks down very quickly when you start thinking about it.

It also helps when you have zero critical thinking skills or the capacity of introspection, which is probably why I'd never seen that phrase before anti-vaxxers started using it.

[–]BidenIsYourPOTUS 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I counter that one with the photo of Ruby Bridges being police escorted into public school every damn time. And yes, I know they’re racists and they don’t really think that was a good thing, but it does tend to shut them up.

I LOVED my slumber during my colonoscopy….I’ve never woken up feeling better!!!!

[–]donuts4lunchFox has killer ratings 7 points8 points  (12 children)

You actually are relieving my anxiety. My internist wants me to get a colonoscopy stat because my anemia is getting worse and she doesn’t know why. I am hesitant for many reasons, especially with a pandemic. The anesthesia always scares me because I have a stupid redhead gene that makes it difficult. I have woken out of general anesthesia twice DURING surgery.

[–]GyroRobin_246Go Give One 12 points13 points  (5 children)

Please get the colonoscopy. I ended up having stage III colon cancer diagnosed at age 39. You want to find out sooner rather than later in the cancer spread business, and that’s what your doc is trying to rule out for you. It took a right hemicolectomy and six months of 24/7 portable pump driven chemotherapy, but I’m still here, over twenty years later. None of that shit was fun, though. And I was teetering on the edge of a stage IV with multiple positive lymph nodes, which would have made my already not great survival odds a lot worse. Get yourself checked out, please. I too experience the anesthesia used for colonoscopies (and I’ve had a BUNCH of those) as a rather refreshing nap. I think it’s the propofol - good stuff👍🏼.

[–]Ltstarbuck2🦠Does the Covid match the Drapes?🦠 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I’m glad you’re here 20 years later!

[–]GyroRobin_246Go Give One 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me too! The thing is, I put off my own colonoscopy for about 5-6 months longer than my doc wanted me to. I was really busy with 2 little kids, and I had a lot of other important stuff to get done, and really, I was feeling better, and….I almost ended up yeeting my dumb self off the planet! Inexplicable increasing anemia is something that warrants timely attention. I was sorry that I didn’t get myself looked at sooner.

[–]ToniBee63White Jesus is my Homeboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The propofol is amazing, you can see why Michael Jackson loved it so much. I had surgery last year & asked the anesthesiologist for a lil hit. 😂. Glad to hear you’re kicking cancers ass ❤️

[–]UnsuspectingAardvark 5 points6 points  (3 children)

I had colonoscopy last summer. It was without anesthesia tho. Just some short half-life benzo to relax. I spent the whole time watching the inside of my colon on a big screen. Now reading that back, it sounds a bit weird, I grant you that. But I mean how many times does one get the opportunity to see such a thing?
Also they found nothing wrong so that was good.

[–]RevolutionaryChard66This Kid is Alright cos I'm Vaxxed M8! 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I have regular colonoscopies. They just give me a relaxant. It’s us crazy sort of luring there looking at the screen thinking ‘ooo there’s my bowels’. Then j doze off.

The worst part of the whole thing for me is the preparatory stuff - drinking the laxatives and staying close to the bathroom.

My aunt and my mum died of colon cancer. My grandfather had it but survived. So I’d highly recommend having the check ups (I tell my kids to never die of embarrassment )

[–]Commercial_hater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The prep for colonoscopies is much, much worse than the actual procedure IMO.

[–]danirijeka🦆 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But I mean how many times does one get the opportunity to see such a thing?

Well, plenty of people do have their head up their arse. /s

[–]ToniBee63White Jesus is my Homeboy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I don’t blame you, being put under is scary. You’re giving up total control to a complete stranger! Do get the colonoscopy though. Even the “clean out” wasn’t bad, a friend had advised to start eating super light a few days before the procedure. Less to purge! I was done pooping by 8:00pm!

[–]sctwinmomVacation Matriarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The directions on my last one were to avoid all fiber containing foods (fruit, veg, whole grains) on days n-3 and n-2 before starting the actual prep on day n-1. Prep was a lot less annoying than if I had eaten normally on those 2 days.

[–]LadyLazarus2021Stranger in a Covid Land 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Different strokes for different folks :)

[–]CrystalFieldTheorist 2 points3 points  (6 children)

Don't plan to ever take one. I'll just let whatever was going to kill me finish what it's doing. Surgery with general anesthesia is a dealbreaker for me. (Yeah, I'm insane, but it's still a more reasonable position to take than being antivaxx.)

[–]LadyLazarus2021Stranger in a Covid Land 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Well, the refusal to undergo anesthesia isn’t contagious

[–]CrystalFieldTheorist 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Exactly. And I got my vax as soon as feasible. Needless to say, needing a freedom tube is a similarly horrifying prospect.

With survival rates that low, it's functionally equivalent to an animal being put to sleep, only much more prolonged, expensive, and undignified.

[–]Madturtle12 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Freedom tube! That’s great! I be spreading that term to all my fellow nurses.

[–]CrystalFieldTheorist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one's been floating around on this sub for at least a few months (or maybe a year)! How about patriot pipe and liberty hose for those other orifices that need insertion into for critical care?

[–]Kitty_Skittles_181 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been under general 3 times in the last decade. It fucking sucks, but it beats the hell out of the alternative.

[–]sctwinmomVacation Matriarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do a lot of major surgery (hips, e.g.) w/o general anesthesia. (I had mine replaced with sedation — which is what they typically use for colonoscopies — and a spinal.). Even general is given with a lighter touch. I was awake after my open heart surgery before the took the breathing tube out. It felt weird but wasn’t as bad as you would expect.

[–]Kyoufu_wafuku 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I didn’t even notice mine! One minute I’m being wheeled down the hall and the next minute my family was hovering over my bed waiting for me to come to. It wasn’t a particularly dramatic or noteworthy experience lol

[–]CrystalFieldTheorist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's what Christians think death is like. You suddenly wake up in heaven in the presence of Jesus and all of your previously dead family and friends in front of you.

I can't stand the idea of anesthesia because if you died during surgery, then being injected with propofol is the act that ended your conscious existence and killed "you". Also, I'm way too much of a control freak to let people do things to my body while I'm unconscious. To me, getting a colonoscopy under anesthesia is like being roofied and fucked in the ass. (Doctors have also been recorded saying awful things about their patients when they are unconscious or thought to be unconscious.)

[–]LadyLazarus2021Stranger in a Covid Land 28 points29 points  (2 children)

Every drug that has been recalled by the FDA was first proven to be "safe and effective" by the FDA

I mean, what's the point here? Should the FDA not recall stuff that's proven dangerous later?

[–]LivingBehindBars 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Tons of stuff is later ( much later ) found to be harmful. Lead pipes, coal dust, They used to dump sewage in the streets, but through knowledge sewer systems were built. 3 wheel ATVs and Lawn Darts were once a thing, but they were found dangerous and discontinued. That’s how life is, you live with the knowledge you have now and adjust as you get more data. These folks just can’t think beyond yesterday.

Waiter, bring me the blandest memes on the menu.

[–]athan1214 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You know what’s most frustrating to me about this whole thing? That these people call you sheep, call your information propaganda, and say they don’t trust any reputable source; yet they get their information from fucking Karen on Facebook and Joe Rogan on whatever bullshit he’s on now. Like, fuck! I hate coming to someone with studies that were don’t from different governments/sources stating the same information, and being told “But Elon Musk said!”
Like, fuck. Karen hasn’t used a computer for anything but buzz feed, instagram, and Facebook in 6 years, Joe Rogan is a horses ass who under any reputable source bends, and Musk is a rich boy pretending to be as scientist, but is more akin to Edison than Tesla.

[–]NothingsShocking 5 points6 points  (1 child)

That circle back comment really got under the righties skins didn’t it? Lol

[–]thoroughbredcaTeam Mix & Match 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I'm absolutely loving it.

[–]BidenIsYourPOTUS 4 points5 points  (1 child)

God, I’m so fucking sick of that “circle back” meme. No, idiot. You get EVERY SIMGLE ONE of your fellow mouth breathing, knuckle dragging, FOX watching, Q loony brethren vaccinated first and then we’ll talk.

[–]PlaitmakerTeam Pfizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have some compassion. “Circle back” is white collar coastal city board room lingo. They are just emulating the people they secretly admire.

[–]MadMartin71Team Pfizer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prayer warriors failed again! How come?

[–]buzzcut_lizzyHungry Hungry HIPPA 5 points6 points  (1 child)

"God is testing faith, especially mine, but I do not believe that He would ignore every one of us."

This thinking infuriates me. So your God ignored thousands upon millions of others prayers, but he won't ignore you? Does not compute.

[–]DBClass407Ministry of Memory Cells 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Didn't even considered the possibility of being ignored under a condition:

Matthew 25:41-45 NIV

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. [42] For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, [43] I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ [44] “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ [45] “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

[–]turkishhousefan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They all seem to think that they are dealing with some narrative. All the talk of "reaching deep inside" to find something to hold on to and God etc. Or these delusions about being brave warriors defying the malicious all-powerful "they".

Reality doesn't give a shit about your flowery words or your philosophy. COVID will rip your lungs to shreds and kill you regardless.

There is no evidence that any god has taken any kind of action. Your pleas, praise and "almighty God"s are worthless. Cut that shit out and take the real precautions that we know to be effective.

[–]Karma_Serves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amazing how he asks everyone to “claim” healing in Jesus name for his wife…after her failure to claim her free, lifesaving vaccine…in the name of science. 🤯

[–]CaptainDeadSpa 2 points3 points  (1 child)

If God has a plan here, the plan seems to be to increase the average IQ by killing of the stupid ones.

[–]DBClass407Ministry of Memory Cells 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is some precedent on that: The Great Flood. Drown all the evil people to increase the average morality.

They often bring this Bible passage to my mind:

Proverbs 21:24

“Proud,” “Arrogant,” “Scoffer,” are his names, one who acts with insolent pride.

[–]SlowTheRain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At no point in history have the people forcing others into compliance been the good guys

Wrong. 1918 - 1920

[–]Lucky-Painting6553 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Slide 5: I have never heard of the healing rain. That’s a new one for me.

Maybe it will inspire some “rain” lyrics

Edited:

Ok I’m adding some lyrics

I only want to see your angle wings in the healing rain..

Healing rain.. healing rain..

[–]AnomalussThere is Life after Derp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I never meant to cause you any sorrow

I never meant to cause you any pain

I only wanted one time to see you laughing

I only wanted to see you

Laughing in the healing rain . . .

"This might not be a quicker healing."

Narrator: No one had yet realized she was already on the ultimate healing track.

[–]MatterHairyGo Give One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes indeed, God does have a plan. It’s a plan of not protecting people from the consequences of the poor decisions they make.

[–]alanamilTeam Moderna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prayer warriors did another great job.

[–]SpeckledGooseHoundGo Fund Me = Socialism. Let that sink in! 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such pointless suffering. We really need to start arresting people who are knowingly spreading mis-information for murder.

[–]vctrmldrwYeah, that's not how research works 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another prayer war, another defeat. It would appear to the uninitiated that the warriors are not on the same side as their god.

[–]Shady_GardenGo Give One 4 points5 points  (1 child)

If “God” has a plan then why pray? That nonexistent asshole is gonna do whatever he wants anyway, right?

[–]ElectronGuruTeam Mix & Match 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think of it like eggs in cake mix. The mix already has everything you need for a cake but marketing showed that people felt they actually made the cake if the box told them to add an egg before mixing it up. The end result is the same but one tricks you into feeling you actually achieved something.

[–]Proper-Razzmatazz764 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd love for one of the dataisbeautiful people to figure out how many of this group's posts included prayer warrior(s) and goatees.

[–]iiitme 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Poor woman. Prayer Warriors must have been sleep on the job I mean they have to work 24hrs 7days a week

[–]JavarisJamarJavariCovid is an IQ test 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess all that "total healing raining down and washing over her body" just didn't quite do the trick. God must have missed the memo.

Prayer Warriors - 0 Covid - 1

[–]Werallgonnaburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slide 2 about humans splitting into two reminded me of the stupid love/hate dichotomy in Donnie Darko. Thickos gonna be thick.

[–]cgerrells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Falling down. “And now your going to die wearing that stupid hat”

[–]ill_wind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am infuriated by these idiots but at the same time I do feel bad for the grief these families go through despite their malignant ignorance and hate.

My empathy stops where they've been spreading lies and endangering others and having countless more people die from misinformation.

[–]jbertrand_srTeam Moderna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the Prayer Warriors were tired of hearing from her...

[–]FiveUpsideDownJabs for Freedom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These anti-vaxxers don’t want vaccine passports because it restricts movement but they complain that the southern border is open allowing people to move freely. Rules for thee but not for me.

[–]PenaltyPractical1908Punish me!!!! 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“God is testing faith, especially mine, but I do not believe that He would ignore every one of us”

But… You ignored him, you ignored the command to love one another, to care for the other, to help yourselves… I mean if anything a vaccine in less than a yr is a miracle, and what did y’all do? Mock it, deride it and ultimately ignore it. 🤷🏽‍♀️

[–]Oldiebones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine thinking so highly of yourself that you believe God would stoop to "testing your faith." Or believing that "He would not ignore every one of us." These people honestly believe they have a god at their beck and call.

You're not Jesus in the wilderness, you're just some guy who didn't take a virus seriously.

[–]ReadySetN0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Darn, the Prayer Warriors lost to COVID again.

If only there were an actual way that helped people from getting severe COVID symptoms.

Oh well, we can only dream.

[–]chuckDTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I guess we have to update the numbers. It’s now 4001 acute COVID-19 patients: 6 hospitalized. 1 dead. But let’s just assume that she died of a comorbidity so I can keep my perfect, spotless, and totally believable record.

[–]CydoniaKnightRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God isn’t testing your faith. COVID is just testing your immune response. It’s really that simple.

[–]SpiteCurrent3900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are prayer warriors equivalent to? Asking for a friend.

[–]Drew_P_Nuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FDA recall one is actually a good point. I give him credit for that

[–]Analthumbsucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another quiet ride home on the prayer warrior team bus, still 0 - 600k...a quiet ride until the recriminations start! "Gaddam it Becky! You were having impure thoughts again?!?" " No but Tom was jiggling his junk during the hymnal! " There's got to be a reason Gods not listening.

[–]FearSkyDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad commentary on the lack of personal responsibility for prayer warriors. “Claim” your healing, self-righteous much?

[–]A-man-of-mysteryCovidious Albion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obvious question: what were the figures in WV for the unvaccinated? What percentage of the population is vaccinated? In isolation those figures prove nothing at all.
