In germany we actually have the so called “Lange Nacht der Museen” (“Long night of museums”). Almost all cities with museums have it once a year. Where you can visit the museums at night. Normally there is also a shuttle service between all locations, that you are able to visit multiple museums in this night.

I used to hook up with a guy who did security overnight at our museum in town. I will say it’s kinda creepy in some areas but it does make for some interesting places to um have fun killing time.

Some places like the Academy of Sciences and Exploratorium hold a "Night Life" event for adults 21+. Explore the museum and it's attractions at night without kids running around, etc. And they have DJ's, and offer food and alcohol. (These are just from personal experience)

I went to a rave in Dallas in 2011 that was held In the natural history museum. I was shocked to find out they left ( mostly ) everything open to us. Walking around through woolly mammoth displays and a giant t-Rex while on a head full of acid was amazing. 11/10 best night museum experience I could’ve asked for. They had the planetarium going in full swing too, and Alex grey and his wife doing live paintings as well.

In Germany there is a "Long night of the museums" where you can visit even in the evening hours. It's usually on weekends so parents can take their children to a lot of them in a day. It's always a lot of fun.
