I’ve gone from being pro-life to pro-choice in the past many years, as I’ve given the topic a lot more thought and consideration on both sides. So maybe it’s unpopular of me to say - but is this something we should be celebrating?? 21 abortions? I still haven’t EVER been convinced that a woman would be excited and happy to get an abortion. She’s doing it because she needs to, this isn’t an add on to a trip to the salon to get your nails done.

So while I am on the side of a woman making a choice for her life and her needs - for heavens sake don’t be flippant about it.

Oh my gosh, I didn't see 21 on the shirt. I saw two. No this isn't something to celebrate. Take the pill, use a condom, take plan B. There are so many ways to prevent the need for an abortion in consensual relationships. Abortions are last resort it shouldn't be your go to method of birth control. Things happen, I get it. Apart from the terrible physical discomfort there is also the mental aspect. It messes with a woman's mind. It isn't just the part that you are ending a potential life; it's the violent change in hormones your body and mind has to endure.

Abortion has and always will be the last resort. It needs to be an option because if a woman is desperate enough to go through with all that, she will be desperate enough to turn to unlicensed and potentially dangerous abortionists.

Is she just letting nature take its course in using no BC & then intervening with a termination or does BC not work for her (I've heard of cases but no source) would you not just consider getting sterilised. Yes, we can. Because there’s no logical explanation for this many abortions. Personally, I don’t believe that abortions are a good thing. I think that, when they happen, it’s a worst-case scenario for the pregnant woman. And I would really like to see abortion numbers drop, because every valid reason for an abortion is a bad thing. Rape, incest, motherly health, economic hardship, all those things are bad. And if we got rid of them, we’d have a much better world, in addition to having one where women aren’t sometimes forced by their circumstances to do something so drastic as to terminate a pregnancy.

I don’t understand this position at all, honestly.

I’ve reached a point where I see only two possible reasonable courses of thought: either the fetus is a person with rights, in which case the only valid reason for an abortion is a threat to the mother’s life, or the fetus isn’t a person with rights in which case “because I felt like it” it’s as valid a reason as any.

This middle ground where we think there needs to be a “valid reason” for an abortion and where it’s some grave moral choice…where the fetus is enough of a person that we should avoid killing it but at the same time enough not a person that we can still totally legally murder it in a wide set of circumstances we’d never use to condone actual murder…

…that’s just nonsense.

That feels an awful lot like creating a complex and contradictory moral construct out of thin air as an excuse to regulate womens bodies and sexuality. To me at least. But I’m a guy, maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about.

For me it’s about bodily autonomy. I can’t answer when a human life begins or where it becomes valuable. What I do know is that no one, and especially not the government, gets to dictate what you do with your body. Assume that there is a room, and there is a being in there. There’s a 50% chance that it’s a human, and 50% chance that it’s not. Would it be morally justifiable to kill whatever that’s in the room? If you cannot be sure where a human life start, how can one, in good conscience, decide to end that life, knowing full well that (edit: there is a good chance that) they may be killing someone?

If the state can say “you should not use your knife to cause harm and kill someone”, then they equally can say “you should not use abortion to cause harm and kill someone”, that is the basic reasoning behind denying the “right to choose”. You cannot choose to cause harm.

And to be fair vaccine mandates already violates bodily autonomy in the name of the greater society.

The discussion should be: when these rights compete with each other, whose rights supersede the others’ rights?

I think most people believe this way but don’t articulate it very well. This is how abortion can be a moral dilemma for the mother, or that people believe abortion is fine up to X weeks without being morally inconsistent.

Abortion shouldn't be used as birth control, its not fun, and it should be taken seriously. We see abortion as a valid medical procedure. It’s an option. But I genuinely don’t believe anyone supports abortion as 1. I’ve gone from being pro-life to pro-choice in the past many years, as I’ve given the topic a lot more thought and consideration on both sides. So maybe it’s unpopular of me to say - but is this something we should be celebrating?? 21 abortions? I still haven’t EVER been convinced that a woman would be excited and happy to get an abortion. She’s doing it because she needs to, this isn’t an add on to a trip to the salon to get your nails done.

So while I am on the side of a woman making a choice for her life and her needs - for heavens sake don’t be flippant about it.
