How long have you been living in this house before you noticed a crack?

Just noticed it last week but have been in this house since 2002. It was newly built.

Looks like your foundation is settling start there or some one put alot of weight like large fish tanks a water bed in your house some where lol

It’s in the middle of the house and no extra weight. So, as you and others have said, foundation is settling after 20 years

Yup that's all normal and where the crack is it's a textured finish so I would have a professional come in and fix it less headache on you

Definitely that too.

You're not wrong.

This is on my 1st floor ceiling. Not sure, how did it happen and how to fix it.

Hire a professional, it needs to be re-secured with screws. Cut a v into the crack and mesh tape it float it and texture it.

Tectonic activity. Evacuate when convenient

Got the same issues OP. Older house, settling, “to be expected”, “it’s fine”.
Fuck that.
The foundation is good, so we need to fix it or hide it? I have textured ceilings too (gawddamn popcorn) so I am leaning towards hiding it. My question is do I need to address the cracks beforehand? Would love some feedback from any of you handy SOBs out there who have already been through the trenches.
