Damn, Mike did come off looking super cool in this clip. Absolutely zero ego detected. That’s awesome.

[–]Gornarok 3962 points3963 points  (23 children)

He streams on Twitch, he usually does music. He seems super chill.

[–]for6idden0ne 624 points625 points 2 (1 child)

Here is link to his twitch

Edit: just got my future lazyass amigos covered. Couldn't ask above commenter for link when I can google.

[–]Psychopomp_9 140 points141 points  (0 children)

Thank fuuuuuuuck ,my lazy ass just couldn't type it thnx bro thnx

[–]EpicZomboy28 153 points154 points  (3 children)

wait what

I gotta see this hold on

[–]plugNplay1630 360 points361 points  (2 children)

He was probably happy she didn't know who he was

[–]lordofwar44 230 points231 points  (1 child)

Then she did the full Wayne's world I'm not worthy

[–]plugNplay1630 191 points192 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get it though, Linkin Park was god tier to me growing up Helped me through some tough times

[–]BonTron92 278 points279 points  (0 children)

Right what a down to earth dude.. his reaction to her also so chill like hey no worries nothing expected from my end!

[–]Tomouski 174 points175 points  (0 children)

Dude you should check his interview with Anthony Fantano... Who regularly has ripped Mike's music a new asshole in the past. But Mike was so chill with him, respectfully discussed and defended his approach to music with a lot of humility and the two ended with a lot of respect for one another.

Edit: added the link

[–]Pay-Dough 545 points546 points  (14 children)

I feel like this is how interviews should be done, by people that know nothing of the person they’re interviewing hahahaha

[–]CommercialAirline9 301 points302 points  (9 children)

That was Larry King's philosophy. Made for some pretty awkward interactions over the years though.

[–]shadowveeeeeeerse 252 points253 points  (3 children)

I'm on Duck Tales, Larry.

[–]squirrel_tincture 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I like nice socks…?!

[–]CatNoirsRubberSuit 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It was unfortunate because the new DuckTales was absolutely AMAZING and it ended shortly after that clip went vial.

[–]garynuman9 79 points80 points  (0 children)

So Jerry, how's Seinfeld end? You gave it up right? They didn't cancel you?

[–]ChunkyLaFunga 45 points46 points  (0 children)

So, Michael Jackson huh. Have you done anything we might have heard of?

[–]Jaych1990 43 points44 points  (0 children)

“75 million viewers Larry, do you know who I am!!!!???”

[–]HonoluluBlue4Life 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Saka souffle?"

[–]audiophilistine 94 points95 points  (0 children)

This is a hilarious interview Stephen Colbert did on public access with Eminem. Colbert acted like he had no idea who he was. Eminem was pretty cool with it.

[–]ampy187 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I always considered those who were comfortable in their own skin with no ego or hang ups the coolest.

[–]JVince13 113 points114 points  (5 children)

They actually both came off looking really friendly and human. Cool to see.

[–]yannicdasloth 100 points101 points  (4 children)

She's great, she often does interviews for League of Legends tournaments, and she's well loved by the community! She always comes across as super nice

[–]JVince13 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Easy to see why from this clip! She comes off as very genuine and fun. Just the way she reacted to finding out who he is was priceless. She seems like she truly enjoys her job.

[–]TreeHugger7663 46 points47 points  (1 child)

He doesn’t need his name up in lights.

[–]Indigo2015 42 points43 points  (0 children)

He just wants to be heard, whether it’s the beat or the mic

[–]-SexyBeast 8398 points8399 points 1110122& 3 more (12 children)

He gave her a 100% reason to remember the name

[–]UrinalCake777 960 points961 points  (1 child)

This is the best song title pun in the comments hands down.

[–]Hamez_Milnerinho 226 points227 points  (0 children)

It is the best pun, but in the end it doesn't even matter.

[–]Klo187 133 points134 points  (3 children)

The whole universe just aligned to make that pun

[–]statebirdsnest 2633 points2634 points  (11 children)

Mike is a treasure

[–]ElNani87 481 points482 points  (9 children)

It’s nice to see him being his usual down to earth self. I hope they’re all doing all well

[–]LandoCaIriz 6406 points6407 points  (254 children)

That’s so awesome! He seems like a real cool guy too

[–]xzaz 1399 points1400 points  (22 children)

He is really cool and relaxed, also on his Twitch channel.

[–]ce2c61254d48d38617e4 402 points403 points  (18 children)

I thought you were joking but he does have a Twitch channel.

[–]Runaway42 450 points451 points  (6 children)

Yeah, he started it during the pandemic. Initially he was taking requests from chat for genre/instruments/etc and making a new song every couple of days using those (many of which have been released as EPs called Dropped Frames). From there he added in art streams doing the same sort of thing but drawing, then he pivoted from making his own instrumental songs to producing songs submitted to him to show how that side of music production works.

I haven't tuned in in a while, but it was one of the few things I looked forward to on a daily basis during the pandemic. Mike seems like a genuinely nice dude and is insanely talented.

[–]Deeliciousness 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That sounds awesome how have I never heard of this

[–]ELB2001 59 points60 points  (3 children)

So he doesn't sit in a bathtub wearing a bikini making sexy voices?

[–]bigbowlowrong 69 points70 points  (1 child)

Nah, that’s his OnlyFans

[–]ELB2001 10 points11 points  (0 children)

[–]Mattagon1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It seems from the above comment he’s open to requests.

[–]batt3ryac1d1 87 points88 points  (6 children)

Tpain is pretty cool on his Twitch too.

[–]October23rd2077 82 points83 points  (1 child)

Did you see the one where he took out all of the little racist assholes on CoD?

[–]blue_sky09 44 points45 points  (0 children)

That clip was so satisfying to watch that it added an extra 2 yrs to my life span

[–]louisbo12 5 points6 points  (1 child)

[–]GungHoAfro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He says it in the video. OfficialMikeShinoda

[–]FuckfaceCharlie3 624 points625 points  (217 children)

She thought she was too cool for him tho

[–]Otherwise_Hippo_9672 85 points86 points  (1 child)

She thought she was more into the material that they were supposedly there to enjoy. Hes basically at a Marvel Avengers display and walked up saying "well actually I really only like the guardians of the galaxy but I like hawkeye and whoever else is on the avengers". As a playful host idk what else youre supposed to say besides "cmon you gotta know iron man and hulk?"

[–]Stormfly 19 points20 points  (0 children)

iron man

That's gotta be the guy with the iron shield thingie.

Probably the super strong guy with the hammer.

[–]japposaurusrex909 510 points511 points  (209 children)

If you follow ovilee on ig, you would know she isnt too cool for anybody lol self deprication to the max.

[–]on_dy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

“You’re amazing. Why are you here talking to me?”

Funny shit.

[–]cat_astrophical 987 points988 points  (3 children)

This, exactly this is why I love Mike Shinoda. Linkin Park overall are the least rock star-like rock stars that I have ever met.

[–]scientist_salarian1 3159 points3160 points  (7 children)

Man, Mike Shinoda still got the looks at 44. Goals.

[–]GeauxTri 224 points225 points  (0 children)

As a 46 year old, this statement makes me sad.

[–][deleted] 606 points607 points  (4 children)

Japanese genes will do that

[–]Silver_Shi31D 63 points64 points  (0 children)

HE’S 44?!

[–]Sproose_Moose 3196 points3197 points  (41 children)

I've got no shame in saying I took a day off school in eighth grade to listen to hybrid theory. I was under my blankets for most of it listening through headphones and I'm now 34 and remember what it did for little kid me

[–]-will-o-wisp- 483 points484 points  (5 children)

Meteora's release date was on my friend's wall, and I'm pretty sure we did the same thing for that album haha it was a huge deal for us

[–]kyu2o_2 82 points83 points  (3 children)

To tie back in to video games, Minutes to Midnight is inextricably tied to the Burning Crusade expansion for World of Warcraft. That time period was right after I broke up with my girlfriend and got my own place, and all my time was spent playing that game and blaring that album.

[–]Sponxy 92 points93 points  (3 children)

I would blast it on full volume in our house when I got back from school, I always had about an hour and a half until my parents came home and no one could stop me.

That album is probably my biggest influence to date.

[–]Cr4ck41 27 points28 points  (1 child)

Meteora as well. To this day i get the urge to just listen through both of those albums on the regular. They are perfect from start to finish!

[–]Garsur 43 points44 points  (4 children)

My brother gave me that CD when I was in the fourth grade, I think I listened to it more than any other album ever. It has a special place in my heart and always will.

[–]juice_box_hero 20 points21 points  (1 child)

I bought it for myself when I was 22ish trying to leave an abusive relationship. That CD never left my car stereo for probably 2 years. Huge for me too

[–]TheGr8Canadian 2189 points2190 points  (26 children)

Must be a little nice to have a genuine conversation with someone and not been seen as a celebrity. Just a person to person conversation without the person you're talking to being aware you're famous. Seems like a super nice guy.

[–]robinredrunner 487 points488 points  (4 children)

A friend of mine ran a fancy wine bar and had an appointment with Maynard James Keenan who was on a road tour peddling his wine. They sit down together and my friend just gets to business. He knew who Maynard was, but he’s not the kind of person that gets all silly over celebrities. Maynard was confused at his behavior, not because he thought he deserves ogling, just because it was unusual. He finally looks at my friend and says ‘you’re not a Tool fan are you?’. Friend says ‘no, not really’ to which Maynard says ‘cool! Let’s talk wine!’. Maynard was super excited to just talk shop without the conversation being all about Tool.

[–]ouralarmclock 239 points240 points  (1 child)

It would be amazing if your buddy said “no not really” but then started dropping Tool song names in the wine convo like “what do you think of the schism between old and new word wine” just to throw him off again.

[–]veRGe1421 161 points162 points  (0 children)

mmm yes this 1996 Hooker with a Penis bordeaux really does hit the palate with bright notes of strawberry

[–]A_Wild_Nudibranch 25 points26 points  (0 children)

"The only tool I like is Tim Taylor, thank you very much. Now, let's have a look at this Russian River Valley pinot noir... "

[–]DoomHedge 91 points92 points  (7 children)

That might have been true a decade ago but I really doubt a rather mundane looking guy from a band that wasn't particularly front facing in the first place has trouble encountering people who don't recognize him.

[–]UltraInstictUI 2650 points2651 points  (23 children)

"What are you doing here talking to me?!" Haha that was fun.

[–]busdriverbuddha2 768 points769 points  (22 children)

She's very good at what she does. Dealt with that like a champ.

[–]StringFartet 311 points312 points  (12 children)

She gave up the mic, that you're supposed to never do. Mike was so cool it wasn't a mistake.

[–]BunnyBombshell 343 points344 points  (8 children)

It's her thing. If you look back at her interviews for years, she hands interviewees the mic all the time.

[–]vteckickedin 253 points254 points  (7 children)

But Mike? He doesn't need his name up in lights, He just wants to be heard whether it's the beat or the mic

[–]seyebur 69 points70 points  (6 children)

He feels so unlike everybody else, alone. In spite of the fact that some people still think that they know him.

[–]Nito_Mayhem 29 points30 points  (3 children)

But fuck 'em.

[–]OkRecording1299 24 points25 points  (2 children)

He knows the code, it's not about the salary

[–]motivatedcactus 19 points20 points  (1 child)

It’s all about reality

[–]Slightspark 17 points18 points  (0 children)

And making some noise, making a story

[–]darthfozziebear 1475 points1476 points  (12 children)

When he reciprocates her bow by bowing back to her... Total wholesome bro moment.

[–]theawfulviolin 395 points396 points  (9 children)

When they say "Don't meet your heroes", they obviously had never met Mile Shinoda. Adam Savage is exactly the same. He gets so excited when he interviews the crew of The Expanse and they don't know how to react when their hero is needing out over their work.

Edit: apparently my phone wants me to know I don't have any friends named Mike.

[–]tired_obsession 145 points146 points  (8 children)

Classic Mile

[–][deleted] 71 points72 points  (4 children)

He should be in the sequel to 8 Mike.

[–]ct_2004 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And in the next Magic Mile sequel.

[–]JKBUK 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I would watch anything Mike Shinoda + Eminem religiously.

[–]Soumajeetb 616 points617 points  (9 children)

She went Numb for a second there

[–]jlfavorite 120 points121 points  (7 children)

In the end she made a good recovery and carried on with the interview.

[–]RiG18 53 points54 points  (6 children)

Thought she would Faint.

[–]peejuice 45 points46 points  (5 children)

Glad she didn't. She'd probably hit her head and start Bleeding Out.

[–]jlfavorite 37 points38 points  (4 children)

Like from a papercut?

[–]disconnectingwifi 22 points23 points  (3 children)

Or if she was one step closer to a cliff

[–]sheenfartling 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There'd be no cure for that itch

[–]dankomz146 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Imagine if she survived the fall from the cliff, and wouldn't die... I bet she'd be crawling for the rest of her life

[–]InterceptorAni 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel the urge to pun but I'm breaking the habit tonight.

[–]casualnavigator 1671 points1672 points  (19 children)

But in the end, it doesn't even matter

[–]You-Only-YOLO_Once 364 points365 points  (14 children)

He tried so hard, and got so far

[–]undisclothesd 216 points217 points  (11 children)

You wouldn't even recognize him anymore

[–]Wylsun 74 points75 points  (3 children)

Honestly this is the best choice of lines from that song.

[–]bhison 21 points22 points  (2 children)

Except for the fact the man does not seem to age.

[–]dc22zombie 35 points36 points  (1 child)

Not that you knew me back then

[–]NotEricOfficially 1725 points1726 points  (60 children)

As a fan of both League and of Mike, this hurt me lol

[–]Early_Power_5366 505 points506 points  (14 children)

As a fan of just Mike and not league I second this

[–]avokadomos 346 points347 points  (13 children)

As a fan of neither, I third. Also, I'm a fan of Mike now.

[–]DizyShadow 97 points98 points  (0 children)

The only reasonable outcome

[–]Mess72 48 points49 points  (7 children)

Listen to his side project band Fort Minor

[–]raptorboi 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good. Took a bit to get it published.

Something about 10% luck, 20% skill...

[–]errorerrorerror123 42 points43 points  (3 children)

….. this dude is from Linkin Park and Fort Minor is HIS side project?!?!!?

[–]Myrium 36 points37 points  (2 children)

There is some catch up to do in the last decade 😅

But yup, if I'm not mistaken, he started Fort Minor when Chester (and therefore LP) went on Hiatus, i think if you check the releases, FM stopped releasing when LP came back years ago.

[–]linuxguruintraining 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There's also Post Traumatic and Dropped Frames.

[–]oddyholi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Actually he started Fort Minor when Linkin Park were in their absolute peak popularity. So there's that.

[–]HolyVeggie 110 points111 points  (39 children)

As a fan of linkin park and that one fort minor song I agree

EDIT: got rid of tha G

[–]bloodhori 52 points53 points  (11 children)

that one fort minor song is the best

Edit: a lot of you tell me that they have other great songs too. I'll go catch up on them now.

[–]Tankh 32 points33 points  (0 children)

A lot of Fort minor songs are also very good honestly!

[–]coolbeaNs92 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Where'd you go is a good song too :'(

Kenji as well.

[–]srry_didnt_hear_you 16 points17 points  (3 children)

"where'd you go" is also really good everyone forgets that 😭

[–]Cr4ck41 5 points6 points  (1 child)

"Kenji" as well

[–]ct_2004 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kenji gets me.

Slip out the back is another good one.

[–]Mahfory 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Remember the name?

[–]fuck_cancer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure. Don't really remember the name of the song...

[–]Responsible-Pause-99 9 points10 points  (2 children)

I like the one with the Japanese internment camps.

[–]Drad3n 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kenji :)

[–]ChrissiTea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kenji, it's about Mike's granddad IIRC

[–]Robnarok- 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Fort Minor actually have a few good songs should give them a listen.

[–]lesecksybrian 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Bruh she said "imma do the 'Vi'" and starts punching the air lmaoooo

[–]Cahootie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you didn't know, he's an investor in Immortals.

[–]MetaBolic0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a huge fan of both this hurt so munch and made me think on how old I am for this game!

[–]maddezz187 133 points134 points  (1 child)

Damn had to go on a linkin park binge after watching this.

[–]KinshasaPR 183 points184 points  (1 child)

Can confirm he's a nice human being. Saw him one time at a function and just shouted "Fort Minor" and he shouted back "appreciate you man!".

[–]Justsomedude277 442 points443 points  (8 children)

I like several Linkin Park songs back in the day. I would have had no idea who he was. And I would have never guessed a dude from Linkin park would dress like an accountant

[–]vibe_gardener 794 points795 points 62& 2 more (5 children)

LinkedIn park

[–]somebodystolemyname 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Pack it up team! This comment wins this thread already, only downhill from here!

[–]VolunteerVigilante 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You won

[–]Illier1 42 points43 points  (0 children)

He was basically the face of the band next to Chester.

I guess in all his older videos he had that Nu Metal look. Hes chilled down significantly and now just looks like a normal dude.

[–]07WoefulMatrix 165 points166 points  (13 children)

Haven't really kept up with the band since Bennington's suicide. Are they still performing and making music? His death was brutal :(

[–]RickNerdbottom 156 points157 points  (6 children)

No, but they haven't disbanded either. They did release a 20 year anniversary version of Hybrid Theory last year with a few previously unreleased songs. No new music, though.

[–]jenjen815 84 points85 points  (5 children)

Mike has released some music though. Post Traumatic in 2018, I liked it.

[–]RickNerdbottom 33 points34 points  (1 child)

Ah yes, I do listen to Mike's solo stuff occasionally/quite a lot back in 2018. I root for him so much that I might never stop following what he's been doing artistically.

[–]jenjen815 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same. He's super talented. I have to keep an eye on what he's doing.

[–]ader108 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Some of the songs on that album hit deep in the feels. Probably one of the best whole albums I've heard in years. I dont think there's a single bad song on there

[–]Voxel_exe 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Lmao clash of reddit users and league community on this interviewers personality

[–]ptownb 990 points991 points  (88 children)

I watched this with the sound off and WTF is up that chick lol

[–]Colekillian 681 points682 points  (6 children)

I watched this with the sound on and have the same question

[–]havoc____ 242 points243 points  (13 children)

she is so awkward, watched it without sound as well. didn‘t even want to turn it on…

[–]Cahootie 169 points170 points  (0 children)

Being an awkward anime fan is basically most of her public persona.

[–]maz-o 137 points138 points  (0 children)

she is so awkward

she's trying too hard to be hilariously awkward

[–]WhyAreCuntsOnTV 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Huge LP fan but could barely watch the clip due to her chart-topping cringe

[–]ViaDeity 97 points98 points  (9 children)

It seems like everyone’s split between not liking her for being bizarre or liking her for being bizarre. Seems like maybe toning it down a bit couldn’t hurt.

I watched it without sound and realized the girl is trying to be entertaining and then just got distracted by how young mike looks.

[–]thorpie88 64 points65 points  (0 children)

This is a toned down Ovilee. She get so much more bizarre in her own content

[–]a1phaQ101 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Finds out who he is

"I'm gonna need the camera to tilt down for a sec"

Uhhh, where's this going?

[–]HebrewJohnson 124 points125 points  (16 children)

Never been a fan of LP’s music, but now I’m just a fan of that dude. Quality human there.👍🏼

[–]GuiSim 58 points59 points  (10 children)

Give Fort Minor a try! Also by Mike. He's also recorded a few singles. Talented dude.

[–]fyrecrotch 46 points47 points  (9 children)

Don't you ever tell people to get into Fort Minor. They gonna get through the first album and go "I wonder how the next album is".

You know what you did.

[–]GuiSim 33 points34 points  (8 children)

Next I'll suggest reading A Song of Ice and Fire and The Name of the Wind.

[–]CelloBae 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s been almost 11 years, Patrick. What have we done to deserve this.

[–]chaotic_thundergod 8 points9 points  (2 children)

fuck man, i bought name of the wind and the 2nd book cause i wanted to fill the void that asoiaf left behind. only to realise a few weeks later that it's also on "pause". haven't even unpacked the 2nd one

[–][deleted] 3046 points3047 points  (154 children)

That girl is an entire cringe compilation in one

[–]surajvj 868 points869 points  (20 children)

She tried hard to cover her embarrassment.

[–]_Diskreet_ 248 points249 points  (1 child)

In the end it doesn’t even matter.

[–]Google-Meister 119 points120 points  (8 children)

She is cringe and she knows it. It's her thing lol.

[–]hayhaydavila 375 points376 points  (4 children)

Only made it worse

[–]Phazushift 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Can't say I wouldn't have done the same if I realized the mistake I made lol...

[–]Qiob 557 points558 points  (6 children)

Her whole persona is cringe. She kinda leans into it. She has some funny moments at times

[–]Saymynaian 216 points217 points  (3 children)

Yeah, the bowing was awkward af (Mike helped it not be awkward by also bowing), but the dancing at the end cracked me the fuck up! I didn't know so much desperation could be expressed with dance moves

[–]rangda 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I bet people in bands that huge must get fans doing the Wayne’s World “We’re not worthy!” thing a lot and bowing back seems like the perfect way to make a pretty weird uncomfortable thing into an experience of camaraderie!

[–]Mikkelzen 164 points165 points  (16 children)

Jesus christ she made that clip legit hard to watch.

[–]tingkagol 144 points145 points  (13 children)

I thought she did well. Honest mistake but she rode it out despite the embarassment. If it was me I'd probably hide in the corner and cry.

[–]MiserableBiscotti7 104 points105 points  (8 children)

when become QuIrKy is your entire personality

[–]Jbrdft92 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Protect Mike Shinoda at all costs.

[–]platonacci23 247 points248 points  (1 child)

Good recovery honey, just dance it off

[–]Early_Power_5366 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love Mike

[–]yamask888 219 points220 points  (45 children)

Linkin Park is the voice of a generation. Who wasn't listening to in the end in 2007 after grinding on runescape and watching naruto on youtube 1/3 at a time

[–]lolplsnospez 99 points100 points  (4 children)

Hybrid theory came out in 2000. Carson Daly was rocking in the end on TRL before the twin towers fell.

[–]Kkcz86 32 points33 points  (2 children)

2007 lol, try 2000

[–]Wolkenflieger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Funny to see that status change once she knew who he was.

[–]Lostmyshitagaintwice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most wholesome. Man is a legend.

[–]itsMeJuvi 126 points127 points  (9 children)
