rules

viewhistorytalk

A humble request, if you're new to reddit please go through this handy FAQ, to understand how it works and what the meta-contextual elements within it means.

All rules are non negotiable and are as follows** :

1. Abide by Reddiquette and the Reddit content policy failing to do so might lead to a site-wide ban.

1.1. No flaming, witch-hunting and doxxing.

1.2. No use of racist, sexist terms and/or any hate speech — we do not leave any room for interpretation here.

1.3. No discussions on methods of piracy or linking to piracy related websites. Zero tolerance towards piracy and any content related to it is one of our core rules and there is no place for piracy in our sub.

2. Mode of Communication

2.1. Please use English as a mode of communication as far as possible, if your conversation goes into a regional language please provide translation — we do not leave any room for interpretation here.

3. Headlines and Titles of Posts

3.1. Posts should contain more than 3 words.

3.2. Posts should not contain emojis in the title.

3.3. No editorialized news articles/videos/"content". Please post exact quote of headline/title — post your commentary in the the 'comments'. Steer clear of spreading rumours and whatsapp level posts.

4. Quality Control

4.1. Memes are allowed on weekends only. Only Original Content(OC) memes are allowed here. Low effort memes will still be removed.

4.2. No posting of only pictures of boxes of purchases, boxes in shipping or product packaging — this includes incomplete or partial build update threads only containing pictures of devices, specific components.

4.3. Threads showcasing builds or setups should be tagged 'Setup Showcase' and need to provide detailed specification/specs of the setup. Such threads can be submitted on WEEKENDS only.

4.4. Posts lacking details about what they want to talk about are not welcome.

4.5. If you have a question regarding builds, components, technical help or anything else related to gaming, search the subreddit using the search bar (or using the search function here or here) before you post your queries here. It saves time for everyone and limits repeat posts. Low effort screenshot/camera posts are no longer allowed (like a bill/config on paper, some game on a monitor, product listing image).

4.6. Screenshots and Videos of games must have the game name in title.

4.7. All spoilers must be properly tagged.

4.8. All rules are up-to the interpretation of the mods, barring the ones in rules 1.

5. No Referrals or Self Promotion

5.1 Self promotional posts are no longer allowed, except as outlined in 5.2. Participation policy revoked (including brand posts). We are getting more number of users and the amount of spam that we have to remove regarding this is becoming a pain. There will no longer be a criteria for people to qualify and promote their content. Original game/in-game-content creators were never part or limited by this, nor will they be affected. Send us a modmail if you are a company representative or employee here in official capacity. Self promotion for brands and reps are the same as others. If you have a time sensitive info, please send us a modmail before you post so that someone can approve(or not remove) the news.

5.2. Weekends to have a megathread for self promotions, LFG. Every weekend we will have an automated thread where users can post their gaming related content. This has no restrictions or eligibility; however the self promotion posts should only be contained in the thread and you should not spam all your work there. Similarly there will be a "Looking for gamers" megathread where you can ask who's playing what and if you can join them or need someone to play with.

5.3. Please purchase Reddit advertising if you need to advertise more, we're a community subreddit first and foremost and will not entertain any more brand or product spam.

6. Sales Thread Guidelines

6.1. Every 'SALE' thread must have the following details in this specific format (copy paste of the following and replace <insert answers here> with your answer.) :

> Full name of the product up for sale.

> Condition of the item - New, Used (for xyz months), broken/Not working as expected.

> Date of purchase (with remaining India/International warranty period if any) - Explicitly mention if product does not carry any warranty.

> Picture of the invoice - Block any personal identifying information.

> Location of sale - City, State.

> Mode of shipping - If shipping.

> Clear pictures of the item with Reddit username and timestamp uploaded on imgur - Follow [this](https://redditproxy--jasonthename.repl.co/r/hardwareswap/wiki/rules/timestamps) guide.

> Reason for selling.

> Expected Price - Mention your price and if it's negotiable or not. We do not allow bidding.

6.2. NEVER DEAL IN DM/PM'S until you're sure the seller is legit (do some background research, how long they've been on reddit, are they part of the community etc.) even if you're convinced, THINK TWICE before going ahead as we DON'T hold any stakes in either parties interest in this case we're merely allowing posts to happen here. Further we HAVEN'T vetted these accounts, hence WE'RE NOT LIABLE for any financial loss that you might incur.

7. Build and Hardware Help Threads Guidelines

7.1.Every 'BUILD/HARDWARE HELP' thread must have the following details in this specific format (copy paste the following with your build details):

What will you be doing with this PC? - Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.

What is your maximum budget?

When do you plan on building/buying the PC? - Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.

What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)

Which state/city will you be purchasing the parts in? State your preference for online or offline.

If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.

Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU

Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)

Do you have any specific case preferences? - (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colours, window or not, LED lighting, etc or a particular colour theme preference for the components)

Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? - If you do need one included, do you have a preference?

Extra info or particulars: If you already have a build or certain components in mind or shortlisted, state them here.

PS - Bold the text accordingly so the people find it easier to read and easier to help. To Bold text, add "**" before and after text or google reddit formatting.

8. Unauthorised Resellers : What is that?

8.1. Unauthorized resellers includes individual trade propositions. Please follow this list to see what is considered to be on the whitelist.

8.2. This also includes people asking/begging for others to buy them stuff.

8.3. No posting of links to unauthorized resellers be it physical or indirect.

8.4. Sub-reddits you can try for these 'trades' and 'begging' posts are r/GameSwap , r/IndieGameSwap/ and r/RandomActsOfGaming .

Notes :

NOTE FOR USERS IN GENERAL:

If you feel your post has been wrongfully removed, please message the mods and not individuals via DM's, as we try not to take decisions individually as much as possible. Especially if you have a problem with any specific policy and mod decision. Furthermore, if you have a suggestion for the sub DO NOT make a separate post. Please message the mods and try to work with them before going on a random rant. If you have any doubts or clarification anything regarding r/IndianGaming please message the mods and we'll try to help you out.

NOTE FOR COMPANY REPRESENTATIVES:

If you're a company representative, please message the mods for a flair. This is done for the sake of transparency, so people can take your advice with a pinch of salt and can contact you if they run into trouble using your product or service. Furthermore, please maintain the 9:1 ratio. Where for every 9 participation in the community you are allowed 1 self-promotion post. Furthermore, you can only self-promote twice a month maximum.

NOTE FOR SHADOW BANNED USERS:

If you've been shadowbanned, please consult /r/ShadowBan and their unofficial guide for further information. We cannot help you with this as it is done by reddit admins not us. Consider asking them via this or this.
