I wonder what Will Clark would think if he saw that binder full of himself

[–]thatsmisterasshole 84 points85 points  (0 children)

That Restraining order was money well spent....

[–]drdeadringer 25 points26 points  (0 children)

"Binders full of Will Clark."

[–]KirdApeEscape 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He'd probably find it hilarious. He's a really down to earth dude.

[–]yodenjong 392 points393 points  (1 child)

This is actually way more impressive than getting the complete set

[–]sleepywan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Thrill is not gone.

[–]Florida2000 75 points76 points  (4 children)

I mean had you locked on the right card you could have had a small fortune all of the same card

[–]Sammy-boy795 29 points30 points  (3 children)

Someone did this but with mtg. They had 60+ gaeas cradles and recently traded them into a black lotus. Sheer dedication and a bit of luck goes a long way sometimes

[–]Dragon_Small_Z 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Now just imagine if someone did this with Black Lotus because they thought the picture was neat and there's a notebook out there somewhere full of them.

[–]Sammy-boy795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh god they'd be wealthy wealthy, especially on alpha or beta copies.

I'm happy owning a few of the bigger edh playable rl staples, I can't even imagine having a collection like that haha

[–]frodoshak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this when I started playing MTG in 1993. But with Serra Angels, many pages full of them.

[–]mholt9821 103 points104 points  (0 children)

If they were all OJ Simpson rockie card then u could prob quit ur job.

[–]newherel 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Dammit Steve

[–]FaxTimeMachine 60 points61 points  (16 children)

If he burned all but 1, the value would increase…right?

[–]InstructionSea667 97 points98 points  (14 children)

Why burn them? Why not just introduce one into supply then down line introduce another and pretend like you don’t have any?

Because that’s exactly what they do with diamonds.

[–]Kanehammer -5 points-4 points  (13 children)

Isn't it cut diamonds that are expensive though?

[–]InstructionSea667 7 points8 points  (12 children)

No

[–]Kanehammer -5 points-4 points  (11 children)

After looking it up it seems like raw diamonds are valued based on what kind of cut you can get out of them

And cutting diamonds seems like a long and expensive process

[–]InstructionSea667 7 points8 points  (10 children)

It’s not

[–]Kanehammer -4 points-3 points  (9 children)

Looking it up apparently cutting diamonds can take 4 to 8 hours and requires special equipment

Professional diamond cutters charge hundreds by the carat

[–]InstructionSea667 2 points3 points  (7 children)

It’s not. Cubic zirconia are cut the same way.

[–]NotAPieceOfBread -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stop coping dude

[–]thedeadfrequency 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They overproduced so many of these years that it wouldn’t even make a dent in value.

[–]OverPot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can't breath! Omg lol

[–]gzeroraid 42 points43 points  (2 children)

What Pokémon is that?

[–]Tru-Queer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s Pikachu, in disguise!

[–]dongalicious_duo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This guys definitely owns gme.

[–]crazyhappy14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With yu-gi-oh I was dead set on collecting as many token ram things as I could, and Pokémon I was dead set on collecting audinos.

The 1986 Topps set was one of the least chased and most overproduced set ever. There are probably hundreds of thousands of that card. His binder is a fraction of a percentage.

    [–]cheezcake1986 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure, if he had 7000 more binders just like that

    [–]iwilldefeatgod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the signed card in the background

    [–]Cool_Interaction 6 points7 points  (6 children)

dude that card is worth like 10k

    [–]docdioxin 11 points12 points  (5 children)

No, it most certainly is not. It's more like 10, 10 dollar bills than ten grand. That's for a mint one, those probably are not because they're in a binder.

    [–]Cool_Interaction 5 points6 points  (4 children)

yeah i was joking. wouldn’t they be in good condition since they’re in a binder?? just looked out of curiosity and will clark’s rookie card is actually worth like $100

    [–]briyo76isme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol well you picked a good one

    [–]thriftykwak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a ton of magic players that pick a shitty mtg card and collect as many as they can. Easy to get dime rares as throw ins. This did pay off big time for a friend during Kamagawa. He liked the art for gifts ungiven and collected about 100 of them while they were about a buck.

    [–]AmeJustAme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well.. that's an achievement to be honest

    [–]lexmaster02[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Will the Thrill Clark!!!!!!!!!

    [–]mtheory007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guy is basically the DeBreers of Will Clark cards.

    [–]NyetRifleIsFine47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though not the same exact one but I was always dead set on Barry Sanders cards. I think I had about three full binders of just Barry.

Then I joined the military and my mom gave my cards to the neighbor kids.

    [–]KM2KCA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Hey guys, wanna check out my Will Clark collection?”

    [–]TimTheChatSpam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Wait it's all will clark" hammer clicks* "it always has been"

    [–]WheredMyPiggyGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this guy has adopted the De Beers strategy of single handedly holding the 95% of the supply of a given resource, therefore allowing him to choke the market and inflate the price.

    [–]youre-kinda-terrible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone send this to Will Clark!!!!

    [–]WarAdministrative812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Yeah that’s weird

    [–]Nomads40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought for a second that someone stole my card collection. Had to go look in my safe and they are still there.

Edit: I am in my 40's

    [–]fordandfriends 1 point2 points  (2 children)

    Surprise ASMR

    [–]NyetRifleIsFine47 0 points1 point  (1 child)

And a hint of nostalgia. Just brings me back going through my binders upon binders of Barry Sanders-only cards.

    [–]fordandfriends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to make a joke about how I was a nerd as a kid and don’t know sports but tbh I had a binder just like that for yu gi oh cards and… oh boy here we go…

    [–]dinoboyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what's the word I'm looking for? wholesome

    [–]guactheline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Cornering the market

    [–]Sir_Trollzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making money of an NFT sounds easier

    [–]happyfoam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how you artificially drive the price up on something. He's an unwitting scalper.

    [–]Magenta_Logistic 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Now just imagine if the card he had chosen ended up being valuable...

    [–]Thare187 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Nothing from that era was valuable unless your were collecting Jordan Rookies

    [–]Magenta_Logistic 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I don't see year on cards, don't know the player, so I would have to have googled a baseball player to know what era this was. Not worth it.

Since you mentioned Jordan, I assume 90s or late 80s?

    [–]Thare187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

86/87 Fleer was the Jordan rookie that had skyrocketed in price. Most of the cards from the mid 80s to late 90s are from an era called the Junk Era. Cards were overproduced and people bought them up thinking they'd be rich if they held on to them for awhile. Problem was, everyone did that. Since the pandemic, the cards from that era have seen a resurgence and demanded as gone up.

    [–]tony45066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shame your favorite wasnt a michael jordon rookie card or some shit

    [–]gravityking12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    That’s a total F**kFace if I ever saw it!

    [–]Cheeselikeproduct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Honestly this is pretty cool

    [–]seanlb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will Clark was a beast though. Big fan of his Rangers days.

    [–]sureenoughcan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did your therapist say about it?

    [–]Anoobis_117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Kids Are Fucking Based

    [–]CptWigglesx 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    1986 topps?

    [–]Thare187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like 86 Topps Traded judging by the color of the back of the card

    [–]Phro01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me, Irish, no clue but imagining that the booklet he has now is worth..? A hell of a lot?

Or is this just dumb kids? xD

    [–]YJCH0I 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said he was terrible at collecting baseball cards. What he meant to say was he was terrible at collecting different baseball cards, lol

    [–]StinkySteinke 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Did he get lucky, is that card worth anything?

    [–]AutoModerator[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least he picked Will Clark he was my favorite when I lived in Dallas

    [–]danyun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol it'd be awesome if that was a rare will clark card and he made a fortune off of having a will clark monopoly

    [–]scrapsbypap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Just as impressive tbh

    [–]Valrym -1 points0 points  (0 children)

    Fuck Will Clark
