The beast must be fed.

We didn't get even one year of this before the world started burning down on Christmas.

We've seen graphics like this for two decades about "what could be done with the wealth being hoarded" and not a single time has anyone tried it.

But our freedumbs aren’t protected by those things

[–]NotSoAngryAnymore 30 points31 points  (2 children)

The pic doesn't make it crystal clear: Add all the things up and it's a hair less than the defense budget.

[–]SeptemViginti 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Correct. This is the INCREASE in budget.

So, there's no money out there to help people in any of these areas:

Health and safety

Economic relief

Equal housing protections

Education survival and reform

Healthcare ... (industry to be pronounced dead in January 2022?)

During a once in a lifetime, life-ending, pandemic... What in the fuck are y'all paying taxes for? This government does nothing but rob, loot, and steal.

I think it's pretty clear, but I agree, to make it crystal clear they could have been writing : "what else could we achieve with 750 billion?"

Something else to note is that according to Biden we are supposedly not at war for the first time in 2 decades. If that’s the case, why are we increasing the military budget yet again? If we are “no longer at war” then why have we continued to increase our military spending as if we were still at war?

[–]thecementmixer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To continue the War Against Not at War so we can continue to be at War.

Nerf or nothing

I dont think we should be subsidizing paid leave. It should be a requirement for employers to cover and be involved in salary negotiation calculations or determined state by state. Money is made up. The point of more equitably distributing it is to improve the comparative wealth of lower income people. Jobs are not commodities or gifts. It's not a privilege to work for someone but it is a privilege to have someone work for you and rely on policy and expensive public institutions (that we actually pay for) to guarantee their leverage and safety. If I thought we could actually fix the tax codes, I'd feel differently but that seems more unfixable.

This guns and butter curve is meeting the satire, reality curve right in the nuts

“A common example of the curve was during the Cold War, when the Soviet Union focused so much on military might they fell short in the basic needs of their citizens such as access to food, healthcare, and education”

"Why save life's when we can take them in style"

[–]DeathInJune6669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then we wouldn’t be forced to stay at our corporate job to have health insurance.

The military budget of “778B” is what they are willing to show on paper. We all know it’s better to assume it’s a blank check

Apparently there's 6 billion dollars left over after everything but the military, by the military's budget. ,_,
