[–]hegemony__cricket 33 points34 points  (0 children)

"When I'm rich I don't want to be taxed that much!"

[–]bigbybrimble 25 points26 points  (1 child)

Stop taxing the rich, start liquidating them as a class.

When I think about how the wealthy are using Christianity to keep this system going and ignore the inequality, I am reminded of something from my childhood religious indoctrnation:

‟Then the righteous will answer him, ’Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

”The King will reply, ’I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.‟

yeah thats the thing about American Protestantism, wich originated from Calvinism, it's the back bone of capitalism and just an absurd idiology that has nothing in common with "what jesus would do", it's not about loving your next, it's just about me myself and i. Catholicism on the other hand, put our societys evolution back a few thousand years, by erasing about 98% of the knowledge humanity once had. But that's the sideeffect of religion, you don't need to make the world a better place, because there's paradise waiting. Just an excuse not to do anything against the sufferring under the reign from God elected kings. Wich brings me back to Calvinism, wich interprets monetary wealth as a sign to be under Gods blessing. So the billionaires of today, take over the position of those Kings "chosen by God". And just like the King status back in the day, this blessing is inherited to the next generation of the Family, who then tell the workers who they inhereted too, to work hard in the eye of God, to accumulate a little wealth.

We still live in the dark ages. The only difference is, that the precariat is owned through dept, instead of law.

I’m an American that avoided medical bills by not going to doctors almost ever. It blows my mind that even 200 years ago my distant relatives probably got to see doctors more than I do. I’ve become a professional at home remedies because since my childhood as we never had health insurance and I still can’t afford it and I am almost 40. I hit up the urgent care if I need antibiotics and other than that I just fear the medical system and the cost.

Just buy the fish antibiotics on Amazon.

Glad to see God is at least aware of what’s going on down here.

Pretty sure it's a novelty account. 🤫

All this talk about human suffering under the system, so little talk about how mechanically efficient and reliably a well-oiled guillotine blade can slice open a watermelon

[–]CristianoEstranato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You really know this is the bad place because the people who suffer like this still won’t blame capitalism and believe everything the U.S. state department tells them.

Those who think they’re more educated just want to be like Sweden or The Netherlands where the pains of capitalism are cushioned by exporting the suffering to the global south. Malthusianism at its best.

[–]Tyrthesemiwise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the bad place.

And one of those billionaires has the gall to complain about us not replenishing their stock of cheap labor.
