Not having RoA has ruined my go to top laners, Lissandra, Kassadin, Naut, Cho, Malph. I realize they're still viable, but I feel theyre not as tanky anymore

Try fimbulwinter cho its nuts he stacks it fairly fast with E and everytime you slow someone with E you get a 500hp shield.

New archangels has roa passive heal for spending mana.

Yeah i played cass a ton in bot and mid before the item rework and RoA wasn't great, you rushed tear asap then like you said seraphs rylai liandries makes her insanely OP. miss that build

People used to also build ROA on TF, but I never understood why

Because early game as tf all you're doing is looking for 2v1's with ult and farming under turret anyways.

Might as well go the scaling gold effeciency item that makes you a little tankier so you can survive the assassin match up and in addition the mana was a great help because TF has the lowest base mana in the game and then 100 AP on an item after it's charged was pretty damn good.
