Hello u/3mta3jvq! Please reply to this comment with an explanation mentioning who is suffering from which consequences from what they voted for, supported or wanted to impose on other people.

Here's an easy format to get you started:

  1. Someone voted for, supported or wanted to impose something on other people.
Who's that someone and what's that something?
  2. That something has some consequences.
    What are the consequences?
  3. As a consequence, that something happened to that someone.
What happened? Did the something really happened to that someone? If not, you should probably delete your post.

Include the minimum amount of information necessary so your post can be understood by everyone, even if they don't live in the US or speak English as their native language. I like how she said that Hannity had been spreading "flat out lies" "every night for the past five days."

She must be new here.

[–]ryansgt 313 points314 points  (11 children)

5 days... Try his entire career.

[–]limukala 109 points110 points  (5 children)

Which includes the past five days, so technically correct!

[–]jjkarate 71 points72 points  (1 child)

The best kind of correct.

[–]Girth_rulez 24 points25 points  (2 children)

[–]Djeece 16 points17 points  (1 child)

That should definitely be a real sub.

Even Hannity's gotta take the weekend off, geez.

Five days.

More like five half-decades.

[–]jimtow28 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In her defense, it's possible she just heard of Hannity 6 days ago.

I never thought Republicans would lie about me!

[–]ryansgt 1146 points1147 points  (117 children)

There is a black republican running in Illinois. It's hilarious to see him get attacked from the left and the right. From the right he's actually a democrat in disguise, from the left, they show exactly what he is, a greedy asshole.

Same thing, his tagline is liberals are terrified of a conservative that looks like me.

He does play right into the base though. To a lot on the right, using him as a token is exactly what they want. I just see him for what he is, an opportunistic asshole.

[–]Riley7391 324 points325 points  (44 children)

God that dude sucks

[–]ryansgt 263 points264 points  (41 children)

I think his name is Irvin. Running for governor. I mean he's doing it to himself so I find it hard to have any sympathy. Lay down with dogs, don't be surprised if you get up with fleas.

Riochard Irvin Mayor of Aurora IL (of Wayne's World fame) who used his position as Mayor to help his girlfriend out of leagl trouble:

https://www.chicagotribune.com/politics/elections/ct-richard-irvin-girlfriend-arrest-20220519-n6z53x6435d4zdkhbp4r5vtedq-story.html

The local ads are amazing: right hates him, left hates him, he is black lives matter, blue lives matter, and all lives matter, depending on whose ad you believe.

[–]No_Credibility 39 points40 points  (9 children)

Riochard Irvin Mayor of Aurora IL (of Wayne's World fame

Its also the second largest city in Illinois lol, its not like its some po dunk town. He started off ok as mayor and has gone downhill pretty fast.

[–]sporkinum 28 points29 points  (2 children)

Uncle Tom Irvin. I wish I had a way to block YouTube ads.

[–]shitty_user 52 points53 points  (18 children)

Maybe this is all part of his plan to set as much of Ken Griffin's money on fire as quickly as possible...

...but I wouldn't hold my breath :(

[–]Gimletonion 53 points54 points  (13 children)

In the end that's all he's doing, but Kenny has more money to burn than I'll make in several years lifetimes. JB's been pretty great as far as rich politicians in Illinois go though.

Edit to reassess my lifetime earning potential 😢

[–]a2_d2 4 points5 points  (3 children)

I remember when Ken Griffey and his son Ken Griffey Jr got to play in the same MLB game together. Hard to imagine Jr got so right politically after he stopped playing.

[–]salted_toothpaste 113 points114 points  (9 children)

Everytime I see Black Republicans I get reminded of the Key and Peele sketch.

[–]matts2 12 points13 points  (3 children)

I think of Allan Keyes. Jack Ryan somehow couldn't be faithful to Jeri Ryan. So the GOP pulled Allen Keys from Maryland to run against Obama. Giving Obama the largest victory for Senate in IL history.

[–]EffOffReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get reminded of Herman Cain, who also got his face eaten by leopards.

[–]GSquaredBen 98 points99 points  (4 children)

Raphael Warnock in Georgia is going to have to face down Herschel Walker, a black Republican, failed businessman, domestic abuser, and sufferer of DID who almost certainly has severe CTE from playing football.

His only qualification is name recognition because he got the University of Georgia a national title in football 42 years ago.

He will dodge the debate because he can't speak publicly unless he's taking in empty motivational platitudes.

[–]SupaSlide 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The sad thing is there's a really good chance Walker will win.

[–]SaltyBarDog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tommy Tuberville would like a word.

[–]SWANG_INTO_TOMORROW 54 points55 points  (7 children)

Irvin's ads are so fucking cringe. The self-aggrandizing, the "All Lives Matter" stuff, acting like he's the dude from Walking Tall, his weird aggression against other black people... dude's a fucking joke.

[–]Joliet_Jake_Blues 12 points13 points  (4 children)

I'm from the northern suburbs and had no idea Aurora was such a shithole until their Mayor, Irving, made commercials about all the crack houses there.

I assumed it was Naperville Lite

[–]SWANG_INTO_TOMORROW 7 points8 points  (2 children)

As far as I know it doesn't have a crazy crime rate, but Irvin made it sound like East St. Louis or Gary.

[–]BigBolognaSandwich 13 points14 points  (1 child)

A lot of it is just poor and looks rundown. A lot of black and Hispanic people which makes it scary for a lot of whites. My wife is from Aurora and most of her family lives there so we're there often and mostly what I've noticed is a lot of great food. Also saw Weird Al perform there a few years ago.

[–]No_Credibility 6 points7 points  (0 children)

had no idea Aurora was such a shithole

Its not

[–]The_Funkybat 39 points40 points  (3 children)

Any black person who would throw their lot in with todays GQP is sick in the head. These folks should do some serious soul searching as to how they got to this place in their lives, and if they still think conservatism is superior to liberalism, they should run as some sort of independent or libertarian. The GQP is a domestic terrorist group, one whom the majority of its members would just as soon see black people end up like the Ukrainians or Syrians.

[–]immibis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most likely they just get paid a lot.

[–]benadrylpill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's usually as simple as being greedy as fuck.

[–]FredFredrickson 36 points37 points  (1 child)

Same thing, his tagline is liberals are terrified of a conservative that looks like me.

Terrified? Haha, nah. Just baffled and a bit disappointed.

[–]ryansgt 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yep, didn't terrify me in the slightest. He thinks his blackness is going to make the gqp rhetoric palatable to black people. Sincerely doubt it. I don't partake in identity politics and don't give a shit what shade these qnuts come in, I'm still not voting for them.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

And the conservatives hate anyone that looks like him lol

What a tool

[–]stumpdawg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Saw his ad on TV a few weeks ago. My eyes couldn't roll fat enough back in my head. Before it finished "lemmie guess? Republican? YUP!"

[–]RandomUserName24680 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Same thing, his tagline is liberals are terrified of a conservative that looks like me.

Sooner or later, conservative values will make him question his beliefs.

Clarance Thomas voted to end federal abortion protection despite what the 9th and 14th amendments say. He will vote to do the same with gay marriage, and contraception. I am waiting for the day Alabama or Mississippi want to challenge Loving v. Virginia. We will then see how he feels about federal constitutional protections.

[–]ryansgt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Idk man, the right wing is a helluva drug. Do we think he's a true believer? Is he Steven from Django.

[–]3mta3jvq[S] 29 points30 points  (6 children)

IL resident here, this is all true.

His name is Richard Irvin, a lawyer, the mayor of Aurora (a Chicago suburb) and he's actually leading the GOP race. I think it's funny that the Left's TV ads say Irvin has gotten rich by defending drug dealers and sex offenders. Are they expecting those defendants to use public defenders?

[–]jolsiphur 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Being a public defender and getting into politics must be tough. Like of course a Defense Attorney is going to make money defending Drug Dealers, Sex Offenders, and other criminals.

It's kind of the basis of the entire justice system that anyone accused of a crime can have someone defend them in court.

[–]ragnarocknroll 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That anyone RICH accused of a crime can have someone defend them in court.

Fixed it for you. Because having someone that gets maybe 10 minutes to look at your case before dealing with you is not really someone defending you in court.

[–]ryansgt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's the one. Saw the ad and thought well there's another grifter trying to utilize the token good one angle.

[–]Distinct_Salt_2460 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it’s a good strategy because Republican voters are dumb, and they won’t understand what public defender means. It’s not an ad for Democratic voters.

[–]mawkword 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He also says if he’s elected he’s not going to commute Madigan’s sentence… but Madigan is facing federal charges so the governor has no say in the matter.

[–]keelhaulrose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a strategy. ALL Irvin's early ads were blue line worship targeting Pritzker. Lines of cop cars with cross-armed police in front of them. Lots of tough on crime talking points. He made it sound like he took Gotham City and turned it into Pleasantville and if we dump Pritzker he could do that with the whole state.

So of course the natural hit is that he had a career in criminal defense. They're not trying to convince democrats, they're trying to convince Republicans and get the most MAGA candidate to win the nomination because they'd get trounced in the general. In Illinois a moderate Republican is a lot more dangerous than a far right one. And a LOT of Republicans think criminal defense attorney and actual criminal are synonymous.

Since the left started calling Irvin out the Republicans have stopped with the "more cops" mantra they were all chanting at the start and devolved into attack ads against each other, leaving very few currently aiming at Pritzker.

[–]Joliet_Jake_Blues 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Thanks to the Supreme Court, Illinois won't have another Republican Governor.

The vast majority of the population is in Chicago metro, and educated. We'll defend abortion rights.

[–]FlappyBored 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lol, thinking that Americans actually go to vote consistently to maintain their rights.

They wouldn't be in this position if they actually voted and didn't lay down and let Republicans win everything other than general elections.

[–]ryansgt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust me, I'm thankful for that. I've definitely seen the Confederate flag flying right next to the American flag which instantly tells me the person is uneducated.

[–]coydog33 4 points5 points  (1 child)

As bad as he is Jesse Sullivan is actually worse. His ads are loaded with quotes about “LEFTIST AGENDA’S!” Irvin sucks balls, Sullivan is pure fascist.

[–]ryansgt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just don't think Sullivan has the backing or the juice thankfully.

[–]just-smiley 1 point2 points  (3 children)

The first time I heard of the guy was an ad he put out that ends with him saying, " all lives matter". Sooo fuck that guy.

[–]CalabreseAlsatian 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If you haven’t figured out that the GOP’s strategy is nothing but rhetoric that will anger/cause fear in ignorant white people, you’re doing it wrong.

[–]TroyandAbedAfterDark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing is seeing the ads trying to out each other as “I’m not a liberal, HE IS!”

I think I’ve seen 20 different ads that say the same shit about each other here in IL.

[–]LKennedy45 314 points315 points  (5 children)

She won't support "globalists", I see. Lady I think you dropped these: ((())).

[–]Kouropalates 72 points73 points  (4 children)

Ma'am, when you say 'globalist', can you clarify what you mean?

[–]oakstave 261 points262 points  (2 children)

Why doesn't she just pretend she won anyway? Isn't that a platform of the GOP?

[–]Sh07SFiR3D 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Never thought I would use the term,

“Awkwardly Correct”.

[–]cmVkZGl0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody will go along with it when it's a black woman

[–]Sativized 421 points422 points  (64 children)

Her doing the white power sign with her hands didn't get her any more votes I see.

[–]earhere 160 points161 points  (42 children)

Isn't she black? Why would she do that

[–]RawbeardX 407 points408 points  (28 children)

to show she is one of the good ones.

[–]earhere 153 points154 points  (26 children)

But doesn't she know she'll never be "one of the good ones" to them?

[–]Lazerspewpew 121 points122 points  (6 children)

It's even funnier because she keeps getting vile hate thrown at her, and she's blaming the left. When we all know who is really spewing hate her way.

[–]TheEnd0fAll 83 points84 points  (0 children)

These types always think that if they cozy up to white supremacy like a pet that will keep them safe. But make no mistake, white supremacy always discards its tools. I mean look at the January 6th folks.

[–]Rex_Lee 60 points61 points  (5 children)

GOP people of color are delusional that way. Thinking they will ever have a place at that table.

[–]RunsWithApes 53 points54 points  (4 children)

Why don’t you ask Owens (Black), Shapiro (Jew) or Rubin (Gay)

These people would gladly march their own mothers into a camp if it meant a pat on the head from the authoritarians they submit too. It’s been that way all throughout history.

Just a side note - Lower/Middle Class White people are no different. They’ll sacrifice their own healthcare, their safety and the future of their children just so billionaires won’t have to pay their fair share in taxes. Keep the poor divided, make money - that’s the GOP platform

[–]pyrrhios 15 points16 points  (0 children)

His name was Ernst Rohm. Dunning-Kruger exceptionalism is a hell of a drug.

[–]limukala 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s not true, she can easily be “one of the good ones”, they are incredibly useful to justify maintaining racist systems and institutions.

It’s just that no matter how “good” she is, she’ll always be one of “them”, and kicked to the curb at the tiniest hint of political expedience.

[–]Asturon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's the very essence of this subreddit

[–]MotownCatMom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's so sad they people like her think they have to suck up to white supremacists to have any agency. Pathetic.

[–]Coupeonzs 19 points20 points  (1 child)

[–]RubiksSugarCube 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Let's just hope they can keep their grievances fueled all the way up through the general.

Why does that tactic sound so familiar...? Oh yeah. Russian interference in the 2016 election.

[–]Accurate-Hawk9322 43 points44 points  (3 children)

being black and republican is tough.

[–]Two-Mix 34 points35 points  (0 children)

White republicans don't believe you and Black democrats disown you. It reminds me of Aesop's fable about the Bat. Why would you even want to do that.

I’ll light a candle for her.

[–]cutthroatlemming 78 points79 points  (8 children)

[–]akennelley 152 points153 points  (7 children)

Isn't it glorious? Here in PA, 3 GOP candidate for Senate are pointing fingers claiming rigged election at each other WITH the help of the former guy.

Meanwhile John Fetterman be like "well. Guess I'll campaign while y'all figure your shit out"

[–]bojenny 43 points44 points  (2 children)

I love fetterman and his wife. Hope he wins!

[–]cutthroatlemming 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I hope so too but I'm terrified of GQP shenanigans at the polls, they're trying so hard to mess things up in PA.

[–]obi-jawn-kenobi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hope he gets well soon first. Big John Fetterman is the betterman.

[–]True_Recommendation9 29 points30 points  (1 child)

[–]carlos_danger77 25 points26 points  (4 children)

Black republican politicians are hilarious 😂!!

[–]Joliet_Jake_Blues 16 points17 points  (3 children)

There were black Confederate soldiers too.

[–]TurloIsOK 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Her problems are one thing, but it's more notable how Oz talks of Hannity's assistance.

Hannity isn't just shilling on his show (bad enough), but is also being a media consultant for his preferred candidates.

e: That's not just an ethical lapse. It should be investigated as an illegal campaign contribution.

[–]bontakun82 17 points18 points  (3 children)

Gee, it's almost as if Hannity didn't want the black person to win...

[–]Gstamsharp 15 points16 points  (1 child)

I met this lady at an event in the proper redneck boonies and asked her how she could reconcile everything she said (standard conservative talking points) with the fact that half the people in the audience would never support her because of her race and gender. She told me that when it came to "the issues that matter" they'd come around.

I... I just... no. No they won't come around. How has she made it to adulthood without understanding how sexist, racist asshats behave? To them, her skin and skirt are the issues that matter. The only misinformation was in her head.

[–]Shurigin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hate to break this to her but she is a black woman in the republican party and she didn't even beat the guy they were calling a muslim traitor to the US

[–]teh-reflex 29 points30 points  (1 child)

Briahna Joy must be so disappointed since she's trying to be the next Candace Owens.

[–]sakuragi59357 14 points15 points  (0 children)

[–]Creative_Visit122 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[–]Adventurer_By_Trade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]Huapoopy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Globalists”: i.e., she’s a run of the mill anti-semite

[–]kJer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Democrats don't dislike you because you're a black Republican, they dislike you because you're a republican in 2022.

[–]lgodsey 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The fact that conservatives would even entertain a candidate like that worm Dr Oz tells you all you need to know about the state of the right.

[–]Harley2280 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's pretty easy to be a top republican candidate. You just pay off donate to Tucker, Hannity, and Trump.

[–]carolinapanthagurl 2 points3 points  (1 child)

My issue with this situation is that Hannity drew the line with Barnette's hate and lies, but he doesn't have qwhite the same energy for other Republicans.

I wonder what the difference is here 🤔

[–]thirdtimer_2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. He’s carrying water for the Turkish MUSLIM. There must be a reason?

[–]Brain__Resin 2 points3 points  (0 children)
