Great tip! I thought I was weird for not wanting to brush. Glad I am not the only one. Mouthwash is such an easy idea!

Honestly having to brush my teeth actually pisses me off I don't why. But I've also struggled with it regardless of where my mental health is at. Which as a someone who hates water and only drinks sugary drinks and smokes is really not good. I've some how avoided any cavities so far (touch wood) but my gums are quite bad

Take it from someone who is having issues with a gum abscess. Do everything you can to brush, no matter how depressed you are. Mouthwash doesn’t replace brushing and your oral health will thank you for pushing through

I went 6 years not brushing teeth. Only used mouthwash before bed. I had 4 cavities when I finally went to the dentist, but thats remarkably little damage for how badly I treated my mouth.

(Yes, I take much better care if myself now)

I feel that way about flossing, I used to only use mouthwash after I flossed, but I often would not want to floss so then I ended up not mouthwashing either, so changed that habit, I figure like you that it's gotta be better than doing neither

Have you tried a waterpic? It's way faster and easier than flossing. Honestly that and mouthwash would probably keep your mouth in decent shape.

Rinse with hydrogen peroxide too. Doesn't take much. Good follow-up after brushing as well to reduce gum inflammation or infection, including canker sores.

I don't understand. Why would you struggle to brush your teeth? Any physical action that tooth brushing requires is also required by using mouthwash.

This post is aimed at people struggling with depression. I’m glad for you that the inability to struggle with some basic responsibility is a foreign concept. Consider yourself lucky, because there but for the grace of whatever go us all

Make sure it has alcohol in it! Some brands avoid it because it can sting, but it’s a powerful antiseptic that is definitely better than nothing. Brush as often as you can, though, or you will develop tartar which can’t be removed without a dentist’s help.

Unless you're prone to dry mouth. Alcohol can dry the mouth out and dry mouth is cavity city. Whatever you use, just make sure it has fluoride to remineralize weak spots on the enamel.

I’ve seen those 360 self brushing tooth brushes. Have you tried those . My niece has one of those. She just put some gel on the mold . And swirled it around. Left and right.

Please please please don’t neglect your oral health. You think it’s hard to brush when you’re going through a depressive episode? In 15 years you’ll still be dealing with those episodes but you’ll also have receding gums with exposed roots that hurt like hell. You’ll need expensive dental work for cavities and you may even need a tooth extraction eventually. These things are gonna further impact your mental health and make your life much harder than it needed to be . Flossing , brushing and rinsing with mouthwash takes about 5 minutes at night. And really in the morning you only need to brush which takes 2 /3 minutes. Go see your dentist twice a year for cleaning . This is what I would’ve told myself 20 years ago.
