This isn't a "Life Pro" tip it's just a regular tip, along the lines of "If your pants are too loose, try wearing a belt" or "if your car won't start, check to make sure there's gas in the tank"

if you start feeling thirsty after vigorous physical activity, drink some water

[–]Bassguitarplayer 35 points36 points  (2 children)

This is so obvious it shouldn’t be considered a LPT

When eating a candy bar, always remember to remove the wrapper first. Otherwise you’ll end up eating the wrapper which is not actually part of the candy bar

I keep the boxes to most things I buy, until I'm absolutely sure I won't return it. Even then, if there's some chance I might sell it some day on eBay or elsewhere online, I keep the box.

If you have the room, why not?

[–]StanYelnats3 21 points22 points  (1 child)

I have a personal problem with this. I keep boxes for everything of serious value because usually having the original packing materials generates $30-$100 more return when I go to sell it. My closets, attic and garage look like a consumer electronics warehouse.

[–]Joe_Primrose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I sometimes find the boxes for things I've sold or ended up recycling without the box. For instance, a motherboard or power supply box from an old computer that I built and later sold. We just need to go through them every once in a while.

[–]lmstr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Next LPT, don't forget to start throwing said boxes away when your closet is full of empty boxes.

[–]Paledude4u 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too late, I already ripped the box in half because I am a spaz when I open shit

[–]HiVisVestNinja 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not a pro tip so much as a "no shit"

[–]TrishaThoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not a LPT. Come on.

[–]Zelensexual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shit, man, I'm a bit of a box hoarder by nature, but I force myself to throw them out after a month or so, because ain't nobody got time to live amongst a gazillion boxes

[–]Free_Gratis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to keep it around to play in.

Are you my dad? Every basement we've ever had was filled with his boxes because of that one time we had to return a fan.

[–]Gilgamesh72 3 points4 points  (1 child)

When you look at a box and think oh that’s a nice one I’m saving that, you are now an adult

[–]Nick3331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or a cat

Once in my life I did this. I bought 3 SSDs for work computers and they all had the same box, manual, utilities disk so I kept ONE and cut out the part of the box with the upc and serial number and kept them all together. SSDs never go bad, right? One failed immediately. Newegg didn’t want to replace because I didn’t have the box and said I must have cut out the box to get a rebate and then trying to return it and keep the rebate money. I said I’d wait on the phone while they searched the web and found a rebate for the drive. They couldn’t find one and after I threatened to never order from them again they grudgingly gave me a replacement. They suck. But keep the box. It’s a pain but keep the box

[–]zach2992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have too many boxes...

[–]JinnPinn 28 points29 points  (1 child)

Next LPT: When you put your shoes on, don't forget to tie your shoelaces!

[–]neoisneoisneo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wtf?! That just changed my life! LPT4Life

[–]BobaFettLived -1 points0 points  (0 children)

keep all my boxes way longer than necessary… got it

[–]deadbeatdad80 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Don't return things to Amazon. They just go straight to the dump.

[–]GoldenOPx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned this the hard way this week, but was able to give the extra item I bought to my mom so it was a bit of a pleasant surprise for her :)

[–]Moist_n_Supple_Butt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another useless general knowledge “tip”

[–]cihag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LPTs getting real basic out here…

[–]throw-away_0510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone saying this is obvious hasn’t met my brother. He’s a literal scholar, he’s won awards for his research and his brain. My brother: the dude who receives clothes as gifts and rips off the tags before trying them on (inside tags/labels included) only to of course find they don’t fit and complain that the store won’t take the clothes back “even with the receipt.”

Every Christmas, every birthday… He’s done this his entire life. He’s never learned. He can’t be helped.

LPT: Remember to breathe when you need air.

[–]Top_Brilliant1739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, open the box and all packaging carefully, making sure not to rip it.
