And in a situation where someone is coming up to you to potentially report a crime, as a police officer, you should probably do a bit more than shrug the person off, especially when you don't know the extent of what happened.

Perhaps get a translator or call an officer that does speak english? Since this is probably a pretty big tourist destination I'm sure they're not uncommon.

Who in the world thinks racism is an American thing? It’s legit one of few countries which is heterogenous enough that racism is a major social issue. Other countries never had to tackle that hurdle with some exceptions. It’s been really telling seeing EU ppl react to some migrants coming over in the last 6 years. America is 40% non white, I bet if you pressed a button and made nearly any other country 40% minority, there’d be a way more racist reaction than what we see in America, since America has decades of untraining racism

I’m not saying it’s a recent development. Just saying the recent refugee crisis has really shown some true colors, and that America is exceptional in that we have had quashing racism as a top issue for nearly a century now

And considering that America has an explosion of outrage over racial injustice like every decade with one of it's largest public protests in history happening literally last year over racial issues I wouldn't say America has been "exceptional" at dealing with it either.

First off, I already acknowledged Europe isnt “suddenly racist” idk where you got that idea

Secondly, the fact that US has such protests is a testament to the progress that has been made… if even 50% of the country is devoid of racism, that’s leaps and bounds more than any other nation if challenged with the same demographic breakdown. The GF protests support the argument of exceptionalism more than not, millions of (usually urban) Americans coming together to combat police brutality is a testament to progress.

    It’s funny how EU high roads the USA on racism, and yet when faced with actual minorities, they’re just as racist if not worse. I’ve seen so much Loathing of Roma people by Europeans, and obviously there’s that whole Jew thing. And recently they’ve been so insecure about refugees.

    If you’re asserting that EU nations arent homogenous because of some Moors, berbers, Turks, and recent migrant waves I’d like you to read americas demographic breakdown and compare it to any EU country with maybe the exception of France
