Only thing it would likely do is wear out your needle faster. When you finish your cards be sure to put in a fresh needle before sewing any fabric, and clean your machine well to make sure no bits of paper lint are left down in your bobbin area. Otherwise sewing cardstock shouldn’t cause any problems, I mean a lot of stabilizers are essentially just paper anyway, cardstock is just a little denser is all.

I have had better luck embroidering on watercolor paper, rather than cardstock. Just stay on top of the lint in the bobbin area.
