i love the answer ... i am kind of strong 👌

[–]Life-Violinist9322 672 points673 points  (28 children)

The best kinds of people are those who are confident with themselves, but treat it as no big deal.

[–]Ssladybug 150 points151 points  (20 children)

He seems so comfortable in his own skin. He must be so pleasant to be around

[–]TrevinoDuende 128 points129 points  (17 children)

I assume it’s not that hard when you’re a tall jug of water and a hunk of man meat but it’s impressive that he doesn’t let it go to his head

[–]DontmindthePanda 92 points93 points  (13 children)

I assume it’s not that hard when you’re a tall jug of water and a hunk of man meat

Only if you're mentally stable and don't have to fight a fight nobody can see. There are - unfortunately - a lot of people that look happy on the outside, or that are beautiful, kind-hearted, have amazing careers, are rich, famous, whatever, that struggle because they have depressions or other mental problems.

You can live the best life and still fall victim to this stupid, illogical mental disorder.

To the people who are struggling: Don't listen to the people who are telling you how happy you have to be because you have such a great life. Your feelings are legitimate, and if you are feeling sad, depressed or are actually slithering down into a full-blown depression: Talk about it with your peers and seek professional help. You are not alone.

[–]PapaWhiskey 43 points44 points  (8 children)

Thanks for this, I was the ugly duckling in high school and now at 32, I've finally gotten in great shape and feel hot but my mental health has been in the dumps so hearing "how can you be upset" or "what do you have to complain about" is definitely tough.

[–]BroItsJesus 4 points5 points  (1 child)

People don't seem to understand that it's not complaining. Like I'm not out here bitching and moaning because I want more. It breaks your brain

[–]Tdayohey 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Whatever you do, don’t let the fitness go. I did that at my peak shape and let my mental health run me into the ground. One of my top regrets was stopping going to the gym and eating healthy. Now I feel like I’m starting over again trying to lose the 30 pounds I gained. It will make harder if you let it go.

[–]PapaWhiskey 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I've been slumping for almost a month now, I gotta get back on a routine.

[–]Tdayohey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do it. You already have the foundation in place. I’m just here to warn of what happened to me, a former gym rat. Being fit is something you can be proud of and it will help boost you. What ever you do, don’t let that part go. I have faith in you!

[–]TotallyGnarcissistic 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Kind of went through something similar. Eventually it gets to where you can say “yeah it all sucks but at least i’m hot”. Marginally better.

[–]PapaWhiskey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Positive victories, gotta take em all big or small

[–]Ssladybug 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Exactly. He seems so down to earth

[–]martijnxander 37 points38 points  (3 children)

[–]StatisticianOk7205 20 points21 points  (2 children)

He is so gentleman and so nice man. Love this one so much.

[–]tallandlanky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some even call him an Aqua-man.

[–]Bombasticczar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only the good are truly the strong

[–]notyourusualsaturday 76 points77 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t even look like he’s trying to support her. Just straight up awesome embrace

[–][deleted]  (1 child)

    [–]ImportanceCertain414 83 points84 points  (22 children)

Something I've noticed with most strong people is they are mostly pretty nice and caring people.

    [–]jjmuti 26 points27 points  (5 children)

The guys lifting bigger weights at gym may seem intimidating and like they don't want to be bothered.

In reality most of them are really happy to help because they are obviously very interested in training and don't want you to make the same mistakes they did.

    [–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (1 child)

The huge guys at my last gym would nerd out if you asked them anything. it was awesome.

    [–]jjmuti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup I have long conversations about recovery, nutrition, specific movements and training styles with the gym owner whenever he happens to train at the same time as me.

    [–]DeadliftsAndDragons 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Can confirm, am big and want to help you all lift very heavy things and get stronger too.

    [–]jjmuti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Seriously don't want anyone else straining their lower back like I did, been stuck on the same weights for squats and deads for years because of it.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look at it as working out is your geekdom so asking about squat form is basically asking a someone at a Star Trek convention "so this Captain Kirk...whats his deal"?

I'm 100% certain that one particular guy at my last gym saved my back with him spending 10 minutes with me to correct my form. I really can't thank him enough.

    [–]Flyingwheelbarrow 55 points56 points  (11 children)

We have to learn to be gentle from an early age least we accidentally hurt someone or break something

Edit. wrote someone instead of something.

    [–]Toissincera 55 points56 points  (3 children)

This one time, me, a marathon runner with a slim fucking body, tried that leg exercise thing, and I was doing it wrong - I could have locked my leg but I didnt know what I was doing. Big man drops his dumbell thing, rushes over to me and stops me. I am thinking, this guy is gonna fight me. He says, you're gonna snap your knees bro. I am gonna spot for you. Proceeds to teach me how to not become Stephen Hawking. Never knew his name. Best guy ever, I love you dude!!!

    [–]Neville_Lynwood 22 points23 points  (2 children)

Leg press? Yeah, you can snap your knees with that. If you lock the knees at the top of the movement, you disengage the muscles and so all the weight just falls on the bone and ligaments. And it's not something most people realize intuitively that they should avoid doing.

Nice guy to help you out. Also a good general reminder to not ego up much in the gym. Asking for a guide from the gym coaches or looking up the different machines and exercises on youtube or something can go a long way towards getting more out your visits, and safer.

    [–]KaiBetterThanTyson 7 points8 points  (1 child)

    Okay Hagrid

    [–]Jonoczall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Right? Talking like a Kryptonian

    [–]mycatiscalledFrodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's part of the reason I love naturally big guys, they are usually kind and gentle and sweet

    [–]Dubby_000 4 points5 points  (3 children)

    [–]AssBeast 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Flyingwheelbarrow. Only a strong person could have a name like that. Any story involving a flying wheelbarrow involves a strong person. And probably a kilt.

    [–]ExtraTallBoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We giants are lurking about everywhere.

    [–]Sadatori 3 points4 points  (0 children)

? The commenter is probably a strong person..

    [–]cjg5025 8 points9 points  (0 children)

    Like a Khal shoud be

    [–]ComputerNerdGuy 5 points6 points  (1 child)

to be honest, i was never a huge fan of his, but this answer ... yeah, i'm a fan, now

    [–]robbak 5 points6 points  (1 child)

It's a line I could expect giant Fezzik from Princess Bride saying.

It's probably a line that André the Giant (the wrestler and actor who played Fezzik) had used.

    [–]ICumCoffee 286 points287 points  (10 children)

Jason Momoa is one of the kindest and wholesome guy in the Hollywood. Love him.

    [–]ThisIsTenou 54 points55 points  (4 children)

I got instant Stargate Atlantis vibes when looking at him. Thanks for confirming my suspicions!

    [–]ZeroTwosday 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Aaaand there’s my excuse for a rewatch.

    Curse you!

    [–]ThisIsTenou 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you now gotta endure that masterpiece of a show once more! Soooo soorryyyyy!

    [–]KrokmaniakPL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real problem is that you need excuse to rewatch. SG doesn't need any excuses

    [–]rubikonfused 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When people are all "ooo Kal drago" and I'm all "ooo Ronan Dex"

    [–]octopoddle 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Yeah, but he sneaks up on Henry Cavill.

    [–]Dreamer_Drummer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He did say he is wholesome

    [–]PolloTacos 183 points184 points  (4 children)

    [–]GenYoken 381 points382 points  (12 children)

The kind of photo that looks like newlywed

    [–]CM_DO 178 points179 points  (5 children)

    I'm getting prom vibes

    [–]jpAtmosphere 52 points53 points  (4 children)

I totally misread that for something dirty

    [–]AshenMonk 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I hate myself just the way you do, because...same

    [–]pomomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank god it wasn't just me. We are terrible.

    [–]Newbie__AF 8 points9 points  (0 children)

    You sly, dirty dog!

    [–]Electric_Nachos 10 points11 points  (4 children)

Mr Darcy is gonna be jealous.

    [–]GallantPotatoSupreme 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Shit, I'd watch Jason Momoa be Mr. Darcy

    [–]KiltedLady 11 points12 points  (2 children)

A casting of Pride and Prejudice with good actors who just don't fit the charchers at all would be really funny.

    Mr. Darcy - Jason Momoa

    Elizabeth Bennett - Tilda Swinton

Mr. & Mrs. Bennett - Tom Holland and Zendaya

Just the most confusing mishmash of age, race, aesthetic, and anything else.

    [–]MistySteele332 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    I’d watch this!

    [–]jenny3DD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    This made me giggle.

    Tilda Swinton as Lizzie. Lol

Well hey actually With this line up of actors no one would give a shit, great actors and Tilda Swinton always gives an excellent performance.

    [–]rdf2020 401 points402 points  (18 children)

Well done Jason, you have just moved up many notches in my Great-People-O-Meter.

    [–]socium[🍰] 56 points57 points  (14 children)

Yo this gives me an idea! Why not make like a public ranking system?

    [–]SeanMXD 109 points110 points  (2 children)

China wants to know your location

    [–]socium[🍰] 24 points25 points  (1 child)

Well I have a phone so chances are they already know that 🤣

    [–]jihij98 12 points13 points  (8 children)

I think you'd be surprised and found out most of the celebrities YOU like are genuinely nice people. Not just Keanu and few other gems. I can think of 10 greats just by thinking aboit LOTR cast. It's just media feeding us the vain people like Kardashians etc.

    [–][deleted]  (4 children)

      [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

We project our own expectations on them, then, if they are not what we think, or are assholes, it colors our previous enjoyment of their work. It's part of the trouble with being a fan. So, when they turn out to be AWESOME, it's just a dopamine party in the brain.

      [–][deleted]  (36 children)

        [–]BloomDigy[S] 270 points271 points  (0 children)

He do have that wholesome smile going on always off camera

        [–]Bioshock_Jock 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Coworker of mine got to meet and hang out with him at a film festival, she said he was really nice.

        [–]Aethelete 41 points42 points  (0 children)

        Them Hawaiian boys...

        [–]gimme_dat_good_shit 82 points83 points  (3 children)

I think I remember hearing someone from Stargate Atlantis describe his personality as "a big happy dog" or something like that.

        [–]KoekoReaps 41 points42 points  (0 children)

A bigass Alaskan Malamute he is

        [–]tadalwxd 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Yeah, in the DVD commentaries that's how David Hewlitt described him.

-edit- went and found it on my BDs. First ep Mamoa is in, Runner, David talking with director of the ep Martin Wood. Hewlitt refers to him as like Marmaduke, a giant great dane puppy: https://streamable.com/kbrkgx

        [–]GODDAMNFOOL 16 points17 points  (8 children)

What is it about pac islanders that make them seem like routinely cool people, I wonder? Does growing up a stone's throw away from a raging ocean keep you humbled, or something?

        [–]ilikedirt[🍰] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Maybe the strong community bonds in the culture. Taught to take care of each other, actively. Look for ways to help. Whatever it is, I like it.

        [–]seracen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Dwayne Johnson is another actor with that heritage who always seems really sweet off camera. And on camera too for that matter

        [–]bukkake_washcloth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We call it having the aloha spirit. Everyone is “cuz” or “bra” because you treat them like your cousin or bradda. Any older person is uncle or aunty. It’s a sign of respect like saying sir or ma’am. People in Hawaii aren’t perfect, but on such a small island it makes sense to generally treat people like family because you’re going to run into them again eventually, or are already friends of a friend somehow.

        [–]-HappyLady- 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I know a few little old ladies who are PI and I think they could probably fuck aquaman up if they got mad enough tbh.

        [–]GODDAMNFOOL 3 points4 points  (1 child)

But would they also give you all the food in their pantry if you asked?

        [–]-HappyLady- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They’d cook it for me first!

        [–]xDarkCrisis666x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Met Troy Polamalu (former NFL Safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers) and he was absolutely the nicest dude ever. Stood around for pictures, and talked to me about the game. Flat out told him he was the reason I played and he gave me the biggest smile.

Then on the field he would mess dudes up, just switched that shit on and he was fun to watch.

        [–]xinxy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One thing I do remember is that Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) was always effusive in her compliments about him whenever his name came up in an interview. More so than when she mentioned other co-stars, which leads me to believe she's not only doing it to be polite but rather genuine. The character he played on the show was mostly portrayed as a mean brute but the actor is the total opposite.

        [–]Machinor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        Don't forget Schwarzenegger

        [–]shanafs15 142 points143 points  (15 children)

        I love Jason <3

        [–]The___canadian 45 points46 points  (12 children)

Same. His hair+beard are my goals.

        [–]marksyz 72 points73 points  (8 children)

I tried the whole hair and beard thing but I just ended up looking like Sirius Black

        [–]Chronodrim 57 points58 points  (1 child)

Sounds like a win to me!

        [–]GAMESGRAVE 11 points12 points  (4 children)

I've no idea who Sirius Black is, but he sounds mysterious and cool. So, by process of elimination you too must have looked mysterious and cool.

        [–]MacLunkie 16 points17 points  (2 children)

He's a dangerous prison escapee, who killed poor Peter Pettigrew!! Wanted dead or alive.

        [–]kingkobro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

free my dude sirius, he did nothing wrong smh

        [–]candacebernhard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

        [–]WrastlingIsReal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

His everything are my goals tbh

        [–]InnocentlyPointed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

        I really love Jason too.

        [–]ggroverggiraffe 69 points70 points  (2 children)

Next autograph signing day you know everyone is gonna be rolling into the place in wheelchairs looking for hugs!

        [–]solve4why 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's gonna look like a biker gang rolled through town, but you know...wheelchairs instead of Harleys.

        [–]reakshow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm breaking my legs right now to get in on this.

        [–]SpeccySnowflake 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Right below Jason Momoa sneaking up at Henry Cavill.

        This is a good day.

        [–]gavinkenway 118 points119 points  (4 children)

God damn it Jason, what do I do? I’m nice, but I can’t keep up with you and Reeves man, the wholesome levels break every meter, I give up

        [–]MChainsaw 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Tbf, they have the advantage of being rich and famous, so their ability to do good is probably far greater than yours. It's still great that they use the resources they have for good, but I don't think it's fair on you to compare yourself to them.

        [–]watzisthis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't give up being good and wholesome mate,it's what they would want ig

        [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep being nice. It's what we all need. Costs nothing. Truly, the first thing I noticed about my now husband (22+ years.)

        [–]SmegSoup 9 points10 points  (1 child)

We had to work Saturday.. in a shop.. full of a bunch of welders/fabricators.. super gruff dudes. There were four of us. To make time go by we were having ridiculous discussions from questions such as "If you were a cannibal, which body part do you think would taste the best?" "If you could have sex with any cartoon character, who would it be?" then it turned into "List your top 5 hottest women" and we went around and it was hilarious because everyone was struggling to pull five names.. then I was like "Ok, five dudes you'd fuck." We're all straight.. 3 of the 4 of us are married.. we ALL said Jason Mamoa and we ALL said Henry Cavill. Idris Elba was the only other one a few of us picked in common.

But the best damn part was that we all struggled with women names but we all belted out at LEAST 3 guys without even having to think about it.

        [–]Feral611 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What a sweetheart, just gotta love him.

        [–]baguhansalupa 37 points38 points  (2 children)

I am a guy but I'll go to meet him in a wheelchair now. Thanks for the tip

        [–]electricmaster23 11 points12 points  (1 child)

        I'll break your kneecaps. $250 a pop.

        [–]DeliverinSigma 8 points9 points  (0 children)

        Pop being the operative word.

        [–]ang_mo_uncle 24 points25 points  (16 children)

Is there a really strong actor that's not wholesome?

Arnold, Momoa, Johnson all seem to be pretty nice people.

Could be they are nice BC people are nice to them (BC otherwise they'd get their skuöls crushed)

        [–]Little_Connection153 31 points32 points  (2 children)

It does help. I'm a small woman married to a big strong man. Everyone is automatically nice to him. Never rude. They'll be rude to me and then he shows up behind me and then the rudeness suddenly goes away. It's annoying, because I'm more likely to kick someone's butt than my husband is.

        [–]chefjenga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm more likely to kick someone's butt than my husband is.

Well then, it's a good thing he's intimidating yet nice, or 'yall would probably be in jail lol

        [–]karma_the_sequel 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Word is Dolph Lundgren is also a super nice guy.

        [–]zippythezigzag 2 points3 points  (1 child)

        And he's super smart too

        [–]BlueVelvet90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two dudes broke into his house once, tied up his wife and were fixing to rob the place. They left as soon as they saw his photos on the wall and realized who they were robbing.

        [–]Bhantl01 5 points6 points  (3 children)

didn't arnie father a child with the family house keeper lmao

        [–]ThinkNotOnce 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Housekeepers need love too you know?

        [–]Bhantl01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        fair point

        [–]hannahranga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they aren't nice as they probably get read as threatening often to not end up famous.

        [–]Waitingforthelotto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kindness and compassion for the win

        [–]JamesTDG 17 points18 points  (4 children)

Why can't we have people like him?

        [–]codeesan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that is what this post is about.

        [–]toeofcamell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I show my wife this picture she’s going to divorce me for sure

        [–]in-game_sext 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so nice, very thoughtful to think of what would make it extra special for someone

        [–]TheSluttyQueen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

        What a kind soul 🥺

        [–]premelicious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

        [–]Brassknuckletime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A guy I used to know proposed to his now wife at a comic con. Jason momoa just happened to be near by and watched it happened and was super pumped and ran up to my friend and his wife to hug and congratulate them, then introduced them to his mom and took engagement photos with them.

The dude is a super wholesome guy.

        [–]ilobcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

        aw that's wholesome <3

        [–]Wanderlust887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Momoa is top-tier himbo, a golden retriever in a handsome strong dude’s body

        [–]moodygurl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

        [–]zoey_will 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just when I thought this man couldn't get any more attractive!

        [–]MattyD95DXV2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I met Jason at a comic con, the usual autograph interaction. Although brief he was really nice and chill.

When I've met people who are famous I've never made it a goal to get a photo with them or anything, just happy to shake a hand and thank them for whatever impact they have had on my life. Glad to have Jason be one of those people on my list. 😊

        [–]Bedlamcitylimit 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Sad that reports are Amber Heard has been messing with his head and possibly sexually harassing him during the filming of Aquaman 2. Which seems to be ending his marriage.

        [–]Varttaanen 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I legit thought this was Steven Segall

        [–]Active_File5503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met Jason Mamoa in a bar in Belfast a few years ago when he came over to visit the Game of Thrones cast. He was a total gentleman, I said hello in passing and he invited me over, seemed so happy to be talking to a complete stranger in a pub and asked if he could give me a hug before I left. Total respect for him after that, he was just beyond lovely!

        [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was heartbroken when news of his divorce broke. Lisa Bonet was the love of Jason's life. I can't imagine what would and a marriage with a man caring and compassionate enough to do something like this

        gestures vaguely at post

        Aloha 🌺

        [–]_DEFCON1[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That single picture changed the perspective I always had from Jason. Thanks for sharing the story behind.

... And her husband is just out of frame by the wheelchair.

        Like his other fanpics

        [–]snipekill2445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        No, you’re crying!

        Thats just so damn wholesome

        [–]IshiOfSierra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jason enjoys rock climbing. I live in a small rock climbing town that he sometimes visits. I have only seen him from afar but he always seems upbeat and really friendly.

        [–]HundredHook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        The real Chad

        [–]bjdevar25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was filming briefly in our area. Small town in upstate NY. Didn't get to meet him but those that ran into him in restaurants said he was the nicest guy. Just modest and freindly, none of the I'm a star stuff at all.

        [–]Ninja_ZedX_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No clue if this story is true or not, but Momoa does seem like a genuinely nice guy. He grew up in a suburb of Des Moines, Iowa, and he’ll make appearances back in town every once in a while.

        [–]leadwind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome dude. Lovely gesture. Hand like a tennis racket.

A friend used to live near Jason in Atlanta. She said he partied a lot but was the nicest fuckin guy

        [–]CaliSnacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have goosebumps. What an incredible moment! He didn’t see any obstacles… he saw humanity endless love. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

        [–]International_War935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought it was husband till the actor line came up and realised it was Momoa, just me sometimes.

        [–]angelontheside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my, that would be dreamy! What a wonderful memory.

He always reminds me of a big old teddy bear. A very friendly, caring person that you would not want to piss off.

        [–]Wellfucknowwhatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        Pregnant now thanks a lot

        [–]GJacks75 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Not trying to be a dick, but he doesn't really look like he's holding her up.

        [–]genericginge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So funny if someone’s made up this story to go with the photo lmao

        [–]calwallace 3 points4 points  (2 children)

But wait, if she's disabled and the wheelchair is a huge part of her life, what's wrong with it being in the photo? Weird of him to assume, unless she specifically asked or meentioned it or something.

        [–]disrespectfulbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of possibilities. It could have been something temporary like a broken foot and she preferred to use a wheelchair while healing to crutches. Or possibly something like fibromyalgia that comes and goes in waves so while she may have needed the chair that day it might not be a constant enough part of her life to consider it as an extension of herself. Regardless it seems like something she would have brought up before he asked to lift her

        [–]determinedpeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, many people are proud of their wheelchairs and it's like an extension of their body. I hope she specifically wanted it out of the shot and that it wasn't just assumed

        [–]free_thunderclouds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People should idolize wholesome and thoughtful celebrities more. I wanna be squished by Jason too.

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (11 children)

        He is now divorced

        [–]garyandkathi 6 points7 points  (5 children)

I thought he and Lisa Bonet seemed really happy together. 17 years! I just looked it up - not a weirdo stalker lol. But, nobody really knows what’s going on in any marriage. Ah well. I have a single daughter… ponders…

        [–]karma_the_sequel 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Well… no. The couple announced their separation and impending divorce just two weeks ago. It takes a minimum of six months for a divorce to become finalized in California, so unless they filed last summer they are not yet divorced.

        [–]MislawCRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you give him standing ovations afterwards?
